yeah that's why I said I could accept that pen. just that It seemed a while for them to make the call, that's what make it look suspicious since the ref seemed this have waved play on before it was brought back. I am just happy they dropped points, our players are not mentally ready to be engaged in any battle for top 4... |

codedguy1: The penalties were atrocious. I can even manage to accept the 2nd one but that 1st one from Kane looked like he deliberately left his leg for the contact. Kane left a foot in for the pen but he wasn't offside since Lovren touched the ball. The second pen was the correct decision though Lamela went down easily. |

From your source;
City have resurrected their move to buy Sanchez, who they nearly signed for £55m at the end of the summer. But they view the total cost of the package – the contract, the agent’s fee and Arsenal’s £35m asking price – as too much for a player who will be a free agent in the summer. Unless there is flexibility in one of those areas, City will not do the deal. Their valuation for the transfer fee is closer to £20m.
This line talks about Arsenal’s asking price as one of the hindrance to the deal, something we managed to work our way around by offering Mkhitaryan.
This stance from City is in part because of the good news concerning Gabriel Jesus’s fitness. The Brazilian striker injured knee ligaments at Selhurst Park on 31 December but City now think he will be back within three weeks. This means signing another forward this month is less of a priority, and while they want Sanchez, they are not desperate for him.
In another chapter, they make it clear City were not keen due the the fact that Gabriel Jesus wasn't gonna be out for as long as first feared. To put it simply, they'd have gone the limit to get Sanchez if Jesus was going to be out for months as first reported.
The other paragraph suggested United were willing to pay more.
In all of it, not one source, part or close to the deal was quoted, and all they did was highlight all the possible scenarios and leave you to stick to the one that favors your argument. For you, it's the money, for me, it's our decision to use Mkhitaryan as a way around the asking price. A neutral (or me if I want to be selfish) will say it's only because Jesus was not going to be out for too long that's why City didn't go the limits. Take cue from the fact that they were willing to pay up to 65m for Mahrez when desperation set in after the Sane injury. |

I don't even get why that's an issue... your club is a rich club so naturally would outbid other clubs...
wait, I think I get it now... u guys want to maintain an image of a low spender so that you'll have an excuse if man city is more successful Don't make it sound like it's West Ham here, it's City who spend the most cash so, I don't see how money can be a problem. We didn't offer more money to Arsenal who had the call to make at this point, we just offered a sweetener to the deal and that's Mkhitaryan, City were going to pay between 25-35m to Arsenal and still pay him weekly (we aren't sure how much). Everything was pretty done until we came in with Mkhitaryan, Arsenal looked at the amount they were going to get for Sanchez and knew it couldn't afford a player the quality of Mkhitaryan and decided to do business with us, all we had to do was convince Sanchez that he had the perfect platform to excel at Old Trafford, he was guaranteed a starting place and the star of the team and he thought it was good for him and he accepted our offer. Case closed. Now if you're on about inference, doesn't the above sound more plausible? |

KevinDein: Ironically, rubbish Arsenal have actually finished ahead of Manchester Utd in each of the last 4 seasons and have won same number of trophies in that period; Man Utd having spent almost a billion pounds and playing sleep inducing football. Relative to what Utd have spent, they've been by far the biggest underachievers in Europe and it's totally amusing to see their fans have a go at another club. Not even the best club in Manchester and won't be for many years to come
Utd fans are severely deluded That's the thing with Arsenal fans and mediocrity, that's how you lots celebrate St. Totteringham day like you guys have a trophy for it. Today, Tottenham is playing UCL football and you lots are away at Thursday night football. Finishing above United is not a trophy, I am happy you said we have won same number of trophies within this period and while you see us having a go at the team and the coach for each point dropped or drab performance, over there, you guys are celebrating mediocrity...You're glued to 6th position win, lose or draw yet you still have the guts to open your mouth in the comity of great clubs, yet, someone said Mourinho was talking too much when he branded your coach (now I am extending it to the fans) specialist in failure. You should at least leave that sunken place (6th) before coming here to banter. |

How do people draw conclusions, how many times have we swooped in to snatched a player from under the noses of City? I don't get how someone will comfortably think we offered more money or we went after a City target, Sanchez is one of the biggest name in the league and it is not surprising to see most top clubs after him. You're making it sound like once City indicates interest, everyone else should back down. I know it's because Pep said they don't have the kind of money Sanchez wanted that this fan boy of his won't let us have peace, for him, whatever Pep says is the holy grail. For people like Pep and his bootlickers, once he indicates interest in a players, the said player must abandon everything and rush to the Etihad stadium, even some disciples of Christ thought twice before jumping on the bandwagon but no, since it's Pep, players must lower their demands, submit transfer request, go on strike and so on. Nonsense!!! The disappointment of losing Sanchez might just see some folks take their own life. |

A good squad player. Is he an improvement on Herrera? I think not at the moment. I am only saying we shouldn't begin to praise him cos he might feel he is playing at a top level and might just stagnate like others before him English players).
