Cruxifizio:Liverpool will definitely win and tomorrow Spurs will win too...5th position is your best bet. |
Cruxifizio:Lol see you, you can't deny you, you're not Peter. |
Cruxifizio:Diggz, play by the rules, you don't party after a scoreless draw... |
Spy360:No, I think he was already registered to play in the EUROPA league with Dortmund. |
Our performance yesterday was so bad that I had to avoid this thread to avoid typing stuffs that I'd never be proud of. We don't have a pattern, we are bad defensively, poor attacking wise and can't control the game. The movement of players is the worst I have seen from a United team since I became a fan and in general, I think our poor performance is down to the following reason; 1. Jose Mourinho: Much like the mistake Fergie made by completely changing the bullish Rooney we all loved, Mourinho's decision to sit and act all cool and collected isn't helping matters, the Mourinho that protested every decision against his team, the one that celebrated every goal with passion like it was the last, the one that was always on the edge of the touch line ditching out instructions was much more like it. I am quite certain that Mourinho will not pander to players, that Mourinho could motivate a lame man to stand up and walk but this version we have looks outdated and uninterested. Mourinho needs to take responsibility, he needs to do more to motivate the players and make the training session worth it and not a dance parade for Pogba, Lingard and the likes, he needs to be critical of himself and the players. 2. Disunity in the squad: Ernesto Valverde and Barcelona got Coutinho in the January transfer window but he still isn't an undisputed starter, not when the team is doing excellently well, he is consciously being made to earn his place regardless of his profile. Every team have leaders and influential players and others who are just lovable, in United, Pogba is very influential amongst the much younger lads, just as Martial is one of the most loved player, you don't get Sanchez in and automatically start him over players who have been doing very well before his arrival, he should be made to earn his place. The decision to play Martial off position or on the bench has backfired and is still backfiring as is evident with the body language of our players. You'd notice that after Sanchez was taken off yesterday, Pogba came alive and the team in general began playing well, you can argue otherwise but it seems to suit the narrative I just put up. Again, the few times Sanchez drifted out to the right, he was more direct and drew fouls in dangerous positions, I don't know why Mourinho is acting stubborn, move Sanchez to the right and let Mata/Pogba play through the middle. 3. Wrong selection/approach to games: Sanchez for all his brilliance doesn't stretch the game well enough playing from the left, he is fond of cutting into the middle of the park which is mostly crowded, he needs to be paired with an enterprising full Back and not a conservative one like Young. Also, the approach to matches has got to change if we are to go far in this competition, we'd easily have lost by 2-3 goals if De Gea wasn't in the mood yesterday, the starting midfield invited pressure, we showed next to no desire to attack. 4. Poor attitude of players: I always watch Liverpool, City, Spurs and in some cases Chelsea and Arsenal play with one thing in my mind, why can't we press just the same way, why do we also invite pressure, we recover possession in our own half where we can't really do damage compared to our contemporaries. This is down to the players and the coach who seems comfortable with our play. We need to up the tempo, we need to cover more distances and recover the ball higher up the pitch. This team can do better with the right coaching and methods, at the moment, it's sad to say we haven't taken a step forward with Mourinho and whether or not he can turn things around remains up for debate, one that looks already swayed... |
I am patiently waiting for the after party...Because as e be now, party don dey this place since afternoon. As for those fight promoters now doubling as prophets of Jah, hear me oh ye brethren, do not be swayed for in the last days, many shall rise in my name... Tailor disappointed me but I am so attending this after party with the agbada I used last time out. Messi is in town...

SONofnezzar:They will choke as usual. |
Without Bakayoko, Chelsea have no chance... |
SONofnezzar:I want them in the final. |
With City out of the way, we have a realistic chance of winning that trophy. |
Neymar1095:It's no news that you need the attention you get here to feel loved since your folks have left you for dead like the biblical Kane but let me feed you for once, Zidane according to your absolutely foolish logic is better than Pep and is probably the greatest UCL manager. |
Ephaig:That's the difference. Lingard is good when he's scoring but away from his goals, he is just average and most times passive during games. |
Mata created the first goal from the AM position, he scored from a goal albeit one that was disallowed from the strikers position and was constantly involved in our build up play. Lingard has nothing on him and shouldn't be starting ahead of him. Sanchez was quiet but still he made the difference with that telling pass. We need to sort out our midfield as a soon as possible and having watch McTonimay closely, I still think Herrera is better than him at least for his once in a while attacking forays and defense splitting passes. McTonimay will get better as he ages tho! |
It's rare to see us creating clear cut chances for Lukaku. We did today and he scored a brace. Way to go lads. |
Ibime:This is so heart touching, I broke down several times reading through it. Thanks for sharing bro. |
hinohsend:Don't underestimate Spurs, those guys run all game long. With Toby Alderwereild back, their defense will only get better. Juventus need their injured players back for the reverse fixture to stand a chance. |
Dembele starred for Fulham when they totally outclassed us during Fergie's time here, he was up for sale a week after and we didn't have a look in. Only City's midfield has been able to dominate Spurs this season. He and Erikson are now world class in my opinion. |
Tottenham are now firmly in the big league... |
Spurs are taking the game to Juventus, in Turin...Even if they lose 3-2, you've got to fancy them to go through... |
You have to give it to Spurs, they've been exceptional safe for the moments of brain farts from their defenders... |
Spurs have come of age...Great performance and Dembele, what a player, he and Erikson are just too good... |
Chelseafan1:Hazard is class through and through... |
Nihilist:Stay here please. |
Moses leading y'all out of the sunken place...The good shepherd... |
larride:Calling goes out Mourinho for obvious flaws is not hatred bro. Martial is one of the most loved player in the team, if not the most loved by fans, he was doing absolutely great before Sanchez came. Just 2 seasons ago, he had everything going for him before Mourinho came, last season, and next, he lost his number to Ibrahimovic but we all said "well, it's Ibra, he is a big name, let Martial calm down, he's got more years ahead". This season, he's been great and yet Sanchez comes in and again he is moved to the right wing...If you're in his position, will you be happy? Do you think other players will be happy to see Sanchez come in and Martial who has been doing excellently well on the left moved to accommodate a new player? Now if you think what I and many others are saying is akin to hate, why did Mou opt to revert to the personnel a lot of fans and pundit alike think its best for us after we went a goal down? Now, unto Shaw, he attacks the wings better, Young is used to cutting inside, you can't play a LB and a LW who are adept at cutting inside, if Sanchez is cutting in, he needs a willing runner, a decoy overlapping from the LB position and that's not Young, he is Shaw. Lingard? Time and time again, brains over aimless runs, Mata might be slow but he is more involved in our play and doesn't lose the ball easily even though he appears weak. We are poor at retaining possession thus it is only natural that we look at players who will help us more in that regard. Again, of the forward players in our team, Lingard is the most technically limited yet he is made to play in a position that requires the highest l level footballing intelligence and technique, who does that? Defense, Mou spent so much to bring in Lindelof, a RCB when it was obvious we needed a LCB more, remember that in his first season, he bought Bailly, a RCB. Now, we have Rojo back fit but Mou chooses to persist with Jones and Smalling who are both natural RCB. After our game with Spurs, I thought Mou will change but not for too long, he had Jones back in the team as LCB. If memory serves me right, I remember one of our best defensive pair last season for a stretch of games was Jones and Rojo before injury struck, so why is Mou not looking towards getting them play together now they're both fit? Summarily, the players missed sitters but we weren't playing well even in those periods when we had those chances, I couldn't tell what our game plan was, we weren't defending, we weren't attacking as a force nor were we controlling the game, we definitely do not have no identity. |
larride:Who drops Shaw for Young? Who shunts one of his best player to an unfamiliar position just to accommodate a new signing who can do a job somewhere else? Who chooses to play two RCB when he has a natural LCB on the bench? Who ignores the deficiencies of his midfield after a poor first half only to react when his team is a goal down? Who plays an ineffective Lingard when Mata is on the bench? |
Why did Mou push Martial to the right at first and why did he revert after we went a goal down? It clearly shoes he knows Martial is better on the left and Sanchez can most definitely play the SS/AM role. He fvcks up our play just to have the utterly brainless Lingard starting. Elsewhere, he picks Young over Shaw again, which Sane manager will do such? It's one mistake too many. Jones over Rojo? Jones is the only natural LCB in the team but Mou will opt for that pair of brainless brits. Pogba looked injured or probably uninterested (probably angry over the arrival of Sanchez) and should have been taken off during the half time interval. We can do with Herrera and McTonimay, at least they are mobile and can close down spaces. Today we take a step, tomorrow, we take several steps back... |
We are not going anywhere with Mourinho. We have to tell our selves the truth, our play is lethargic. Smalling? The most useless player I have ever seen, we have Rojo a natural LCB on the bench but Mourinho will continue with Jones and Smalling. We have no pattern, I don't see anything close to cohesion in our play and Pogba? a disgrace, very lazy player. |
Smalling is a fool. And Mourinho, he makes easy things look difficult, why does he always wait till we're trailing to do what is best for the team? |
chic2pimp:If Gattuso manages to achieve a top four finish, he'll most likely get the job. Ancelloti is an option too. |
Pogba will be jogging like we're winning comfortably. |
Evildoer:Newcastle and Stoke...We drew at Stoke, I hope we win today. |
