Who is the international community? Are they in mars?

Is it not nation states such as Nigeria that make up the international community?

Better think logically. All the EU/UN can do is talk ... and talk some more. No nation state, will say a word about an alleged terrorist group, plotting the internal destabilization of an ally.

The US has already "tweeted" its position. Wake up .. politics is decided on a higher level.

The un chatter does not surpercede the laws of Nigeria, and there is no clause in the Nigerian constitution that supports its separation.

The only way you can have biafra is to have a constitution amendment.

No country in the Un will go against the laws of another country and encourage the separation of another country.

That is why your case is not similar to that of southafrica.
Among those countries that had separated, there was none with prior provision for separation. The events at the time forced it upon their local laws.
In as much as Nigerian constitution does not have provision for separation, it shouldn't deter genuine agitation for separation because when the heat from external pressure overwhelmed the withholding capacities, National Assembly will hurriedly accommodate separation through extant amendments.
In the case of Biafra, they need more international sympathy which is why they are bobby-trapping buhari into making dictatorial reckless moves.
just watch this ongoing UNGA summit and hear what super powers are saying about freedom of expression and oppression.

yes it is true because by that time Anc had the underground military movement.

The reason why the international community supported the Anc is because the blacks had no representation in the Southafrican government then. Thus, the international community had no choice.

Secondly, the government of Southafrica then passed legislations that encouraged racism ( like the forcefull removal of blacks from their indigenous home land)

Finally, more importantly the Anc was yearning for better representation not separation. The other parties yearning for separation didn't receive much global support because no country will support the separation of another sovereign state.
You need to know that people agitate for different purposes.some agitate for inclusion in government while some agitate for outright separation and each of these purposes are achievable owing to the provisions of United Nations Charter.
The case of South Africa is even better cos they are fighting against external colonialism while Biafra is fighting against internal colonialism so it needs more robust aggressiveness and radical approach to be able to convincing the outside observers that they are really subdued

Even if Mandela was a strategist, he was put in jail for 27years before released. He had tactics and strategies which even helped him. The pro-apatheid government hated him. In short, the leader determines what the world sees of his group. To be honest, Mandela never handled the ANC group the way NK does his. The objective of both groups are totally different. Is NK fighting for the betterment of Igbos or for an ambiguous desire?
He was watchful of his ways and his words.

For Your Information:

ANC was initially founded as the South African Native National Congress (SANNC) on 8 January 1912 in Bloemfontein, with the aim of fighting for the rights of black South Africans. The organization was renamed the ANC in 1923. Nelson Mandela was actively involved in the anti-apartheid movement in his 20s, and joined the African National Congress in 1942. Nelson Mandela was one of those awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts to dismantle the country's apartheid system.
In 1956, during a trial at which 156 ANC leaders and activists, including Mandela, were charged with treason, he told the court that he supported nonviolence as a principle — not true at the time; he supported it only as a tactic — because he knew he and others could be convicted if he said otherwise. The trial dragged on until 1961, but Mandela and the others were acquitted.
After he left prison, he worked to achieve human rights and a better future for everyone in South Africa.

There is indeed no easy walk to freedom anywhere, and many will have to pass through the valley of the shadow again and again before reaching the mountaintops of their desires. Even if I'm not in support of tagging IPOB a terrorist group, I think NK should calm down and be more strategic than forceful!
you are far from truth, Mandela was blunt in his criticism of oppressive apartheid regime in South Africa, he was stubborn and uncompromising which lead to his incarceration.
Mandela alongside Mugabe introduced armed group with guerrilla warfare tactics so he is both vocally and practically radical in his approach to self determination.
Nnamdi KANU is blunt also.
He has his own tactics which is nonviolent with call for referendum. If Nigeria is sincere in their assertion that KANU is not leader, what is holding them back from allowing referendum as was the case of Britain and Scottish movement?
You can only confuse yourself about history of freedom movements in Africa but know it that everybody is not as confuse and ignorant as you have displayed

The FG just wanna frustrate any legal effort IPOB is pursuing for independence. It was too conclusive and premature to term them terrorists.

As a termed terrorist group, they may not get help from the UN and after a while, it will be illegal for any person in diaspora to openly demonstrate (even if peaceful) in the name of IPOB. Its really more frustrating now.

NK made the biggest mistake from beginning. His way of handling the pursuit for Independence was more of an objective but no strategy!

He worked more with chief priests, monarchs and the less educated - all of which have little or no knowledge of the policy/politics to attain independence.

Indeed it's unfortunate that the Igbos are handled this way. I'll always respect the Igbos, they are a hard-working and enterprising tribe.
you are not right, ANC in south Africa was once declared a terrorist group and its leader(Nelson Mandela) declared wanted but that doesn't stop foreign support to them.In fact,Nigeria was among the frontline states that supported ANC and they are today the ruling party in south Africa . If ANC can achieve those success despite using arm, why wount IPOB achieve more?
PoliticsRe: We Know Countries Supporting, Funding IPOB – FG by patval(f): 3:54pm On Sep 19, 2017
Iamvictor:
The Federal Government says it is aware of sources of funding of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and is taking steps to block them.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed disclosed this on Tuesday when he appeared on a live TV programme “Good Morning Nigeria” on the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA).
“Terrorists do not publish where their funding are coming from. But we know the countries that are supporting IPOB.
“We know the sources of their funding though I am not at liberty to disclose them here.

“We are taking steps to block them and we are also taking a lot of diplomatic actions in respect of the countries that are supporting them”.
The Minister said that most of the countries supporting the group were doing so based on ignorance.
He said they had been hoodwinked to believing that “Nigeria is a country where Muslims persecute Christians” and a country where there is genocide.
“As we speak today, IPOB has written letters to many Governments outside Nigeria, international parliaments sending fake and cloned videos claiming there is genocide in Nigeria.
The minister charged the international community not to adopt double standard in dealing with IPOB and to be more diligent before making any pronouncements.
He said what the countries would never accept in their territories, should not be condoned or encouraged in Nigeria.
The minister justified the actions of the military for declaring IPOB a terrorist group as well as its proscription by the South-East governors.
“There are a lot of arguments regarding the constitutionality of the action of the military and the South East governors.
“People must realise that we are dealing with issue of national security and I do not think that the military and the governors should fold their arms while the country is set ablaze.
“I have heard a lot of comments as to whether the military has the right to declare IPOB, a terrorist group
“What the military has done is to catalogue all the activities of IPOB, which are not different from that of terrorists groups,” he said.
Mohammed said IPOB set up a para-military organisation, a parallel military group, Biafra Secret Service and Biafra National Guard.
He said the group were attacking army installations and soldiers at check points, extorting money from innocent people.
“IPOB activities are not jokes. If there have not been the proactive actions on the part of the military and the South East governors, there would have been retaliations from other regions and the entire country will be set on fire.
“We cannot be talking of semantics or procedure when the nation is moving towards crises and precipices.
It is only in a Banana Republic that you can see non state actors doing what IPOB is doing.
“The actions by the military and the governors should be seen from the perspective of ensuring internal security and averting chaos,” he said.
The minister reiterated his position that IPOB was being sponsored by the association of disgruntled politicians and treasury looters to discredit President Muhammad Buhari”s Administration.
He admonished the media and opinion leaders to be circumspect in their publications and discussions on IPOB in order not to aggravate the crises the more.
“The kind of comments and headlines in the media as well as comments from certain quarters are the types that give oxygen and confidence to the IPOB.
“They must exercise restraint because the only reason we practice our profession or be a commentator is simply because there is peace in the country,” he said.

Their pretence or shallow knowledge of freedom fighting never allow them realise that ANC which is ruling party in South Africa today was once declared a terrorist organization and their leader Mandela was declared wanted. The case was the same with Mugabe and his party and the nature of these two movements were armed struggle in the form of guerrilla warfare.
IPOB being a nonviolent but declared a terrorist organization further affirmed the stark illiteracy of buhari which the international communities does not want to align with by condemning the proscription.
In the history of struggle for self determination in Africa, once an agitating group is proscribed, it shows that their autonomy is in the offing.

Olaniawo20:
The national coordinator APGA Media Warriors Forum, Evang Chinedu Obigwe , Tuesday, urged the general public to disregard the fake information making rounds in some mainstream and social media which was credited to the governor of Anambra state, Dr Willie Obiano, noting that Obiano never said that ‘There will be no hiding place for IPOB in Anambra state’, especially during the stakeholders meeting he organized for Anambra people.
In a statement issued Obigwe said that the purveyors of this fake news are Obiano’s political antagonists, blackmailers and mischief makers who concocted all types of falsehood to score cheap political points against the governor.
“Election is around the corner and in that regards mischief makers and those whose stock in trade is blackmail will be concocting all types of falsehood to score cheap political point against the Governor”, he said.
Recall that the commissioner of information, Mr Tony was quoted by newsmen to have said in a statement issued, that Gov. Obiano opined that the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have no hiding place in Anambra state.
The statement which went viral online was refuted by the governor who took no other decision on the south east governors proscription of IPOB except the collective decision made by the South east Governors Forum.
“In a clarification, Obigwe said that Governor Obiano used the opportunity of the stakeholders meeting to explain the reason behind the decision of Southeast Governor’s forum to ban IPOB in the region and that the Governor did not take any other position outside that of the collective decision of his fellow Southeast Governor’s”, he said.
He urged the general public to ignore the fake news because those behind it are masters of ‘falsehood concoction’ whose aim is to incite the people against the Governor and score cheap political points against him.
However, Obigwe charged the likes of Sen. Andy Uba, Ifeanyi Ubah and other aspirants from Anambra south to support Gov. Obiano’s second term ambition in the interest of Anambra people.

Former Kano State Governor Kwankwaso Mocks President Buhari, Brands Change Agenda A Ruse
In an audio recording exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, Mr. Kwankwaso said the APC is confused and has been lying to Nigerians about bringing change to their living conditions.
BY SAHARA REPORTERS, NEW YORKSEP 17, 2017

Former Kano State governor and disaffected member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has described the "change" mantra of his party as a ruse. In an audio recording exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, Mr. Kwankwaso said the APC is confused and has been lying to Nigerians about bringing change to their living conditions.

"When Nigerians asked: 'When are we going to see the change we voted for?' They were told to wait until after swearing-in ceremony. After the swearing-in, they heard silence without change and they asked, when will this change come. The answer was until they resume office and they subsequently resumed office and nothing happened," said Mr. Kwankwaso, who was an APC presidential aspirant in 2015.

The former governor added that when the masses asked again when to expect the change promised, they were told to wait until the appointment of the Secretary to the Government of Federation (SGF).

"After three months, the SGF was appointed and the people asked again: 'Where is the change?' The answer was they should wait for the change after the appointment of Chief of Staff. The masses got worried and said, please when will this change come? The answer was, until ministers are appointed. After six months, they appointed ministers," Mr. Kwankwaso said mockingly.

Following the appointment of ministers, said Mr. Kwankwaso, the APC promised that change would come when the budget was prepared and told the masses to wait for the budget. And when they got the budget, he added, Nigerians were told they would have the change after the National Assembly must have gone through the budget.

"Suddenly, the National Assembly approved and the people asked again: 'Can see and feel the change?' Their (APC) reply was until the President signed the budget. After he signed, there was no change, we asked. They said, the President’s ear is paining him and we should wait until he was healed," said the former presidential aspirant.

The masses, he said, were prepared to wait and rejoiced that the President could hear well and had returned.

Again, the APC did not deliver the change, shifting delivery to when fuel subsidy was removed.

"They suddenly tripled oil price and they kept quiet and we talked. They said we should be patient that change will come. While Nigerians were waiting, they now came again that the President was sick. They said we should wait, we waited and he came back from the first trip. They said we should pray and when he returned, they celebrated and we all secretly prayed for him, that Allah should heal him. When he returned they said we should give him time to fully recover," stated Mr. Kwankwaso.

He alleged that the APC started playing games, saying doctors said the President should return to London, where he stayed for 103 days before returning.

"We said when will the change come, they said until they drive away rats from his office. We are hoping, they will come and apologize and say the change will come when I (Buhari) return in 2019," Mr. Kwankwaso stated.
Lmao.......kwankwaso put down the chronology of APC jinx though he was once a marketer of change.
