It's a matter of time; bad government can win, only for a while, and at few occasions. They can't win forever, and in all cases.. I remember 'beast of England' lyrics ( from Animal Farm). Modified.. Soon or late the day is coming Tyrant Man shall be o'erthrown And the fruitful fields of ' Southern Nigeria' Shall be trod by 'Southerners' alone For that day we all must labour Though we die before it break Men and women, young and old All must toil for freedom's sake |

Many years ago. It was in my final year. We were to write a test by 11am. We all waited for the lecturer till 2pm. As the class governor, I announced to the class that 'those who are willing to leave, can go, I will wait for the lecturer and reschedule the test'. Just about 30 mins after the man arrived. I tried explaining to him that we have been waiting, and a good number of the students have left. This man insisted that if it's only one student the test will hold. At that point everyone started calling their friends. Even at that, about 10 or so students couldn't make it back. As a form of protest and solidarity, I didn't write the test. It was a big sacrifice because three of the four questions were my best areas. A whole 30 marks. As I stood by the door, another guy in the class was so moved, he dropped his pen, joined me in the protest. We both missed the test. But sincerely, there was no regret. It wasn't the biggest anyway,!. The sacrifice son of man has made on emotional matters are beyond words.. |
