But will his congregation understand that?

Hogwash!
You are not getting what I'm saying cheesy

I do not argue that all these do not happen in monogamy.
I'm telling you that the high number of out of school children in Africa which translate to societal irresponsibility is directly proportional to the high number of polygamous family.

Remember, the family is a unit of the society.
That means, whatever happens in the family in terms of increase population and child upbringing has it direct impact to the society.

I gave you an instance, Northern part of Nigeria where I'm living. It is no news that for every 10 families in that religion, atleast 7 or 8 of them are polygamous.
Polygamy is their religious and traditional value.
Yet, it is also no news that the highest rate of terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, high way robbery, etc happens in that part of the country, compared to what is happening in southern Nigeria where most families currently are monogamous

You are not living in Nigeria, so you should listen

Techobeys:
I think your assumptions that the devil doesn’t affect life is not founded on justifiable reason
It does!

Now, imagine a student for example, who fails to read, and when he fails his exam he blame it to a devil.
Does that tell you that a devil truly exist?

Of course, like God, devil has a compelling force on life, it just depends on whoever bends to it.
like what kind of compelling force?
I just want to see one practical example

I will ask you to go learn how the devil operates because ignorance of Satan’s means and pattern of operation will cost you a lot.
you see this type of African fictional beliefs?
It is truly not from God.
It certainly has no biblical reference.
And it is never applicable to reality.

It is the key reason why Africans are lagging behind in everything.

Even the Bible mentions that we’re not ignorant of Satan’s devices because there are practical ways that Satan uses tricks to affects reality.

Please let's look at the scripture again for confirmation.

2 Corinthians 2:10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;
2 Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

You see now that the scripture specifically mentioned forgiveness?
Meaning, if we learn to forgive one another, then there is no devil.
Conversely, if we read our books and prepare for our exams, then there is no devil.
In general, if we know the right thing to do and we do it, then there is no devil.

It's not as if devil is one spirit or person that manipulate people.
It is in our doing that determines devil.

So devil do not exist in the real sense

I had a room mate in my final year back then in school. He applied for medicine in Jamb but he was given wildlife to study. He had decided to continue with the curse since he could not afford to re-write jamb.

Not being able to see a thing doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
in this case, all human experiences have indicated that whether Devil exist or not, it's of no significance to humans alive, therefore it do not really exist.
Unlike God who has a huge impact such as creating the air we breath, the clouds, the water and even humans exhibiting his image and likeness through intelligence

Reflective thinking was why we arrived at the thought of black matters even though we can’t see any black matter
but there are evidence that it has gravitational pool therefore it is a real matter even though it does not transmit light ?
It therefore follows that the existence of black matter or whatever abstract entity, do not really apply to any analogy aiming at the existence of an insignificant devil or Satan.

We’re not supposed to see Satan but that doesn’t mean he’s not here.

well, the only Satan that exist is the one Jesus described as a thief

John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

No physical Satan anywhere, we are the architects of our misfortunes, not any Satan.

So, polygamy is nothing to write home about, compared to one man one wife blessed unions that have ensured a better upbringing of children and a better society at the long run

Religion / Re: When You Build A House For God , God Will Build Your House by paxonel(m): 1:25am On Mar 21
4Toluilori:
After David was settled in his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet, "Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of the covenant of the LORD is under a tent."
Nathan replied to David, "Whatever you have in mind, do it, for God is with you."
But that night the word of God came to Nathan, saying:
"Go and tell my servant David, 'This is what the LORD says . . . ' "
"I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock, and appointed you ruler over my people Israel. I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name like all the names of the greatest men on earth. And I will provide a place for my people Israel . . . Wicked people will not oppress them anymore… I will also subdue all your enemies. " 'I declare to you that the LORD will build a house for you: When your days are over and you go to be with your ancestors, I will raise up your own offspring to succeed you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom. He is the one who will build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever. . . I will never take away my love from him, as I took it away from your predecessor. . . .' " I Chronicles 17: 1-13

God is not a "Taker"; God is a "Giver." Whatever we give to God, He will give it back to us "a good measure, pressed down shaken together and running over (Luke 6:38). When we give faithfully to him in our tithes and offerings, He promises to open the windows of Heaven upon our lives and pour out so much blessing that we won't even have room to contain it (Malachi 3:10). Try it, it works because God is not a man that He should lie. If God were to lie for a moment, He would cease to be God; because He would have no basis of righteousness.

There is something very extraordinary about giving generously to God. I am perfectly aware that the subject of giving has been blatantly abused by some pastors who have taken undue advantage of God's children, even to the point of fleecing God's children and making merchandise of them. But this does not negate the evidence of Scripture that God looks down with great favor on generous givers. In fact, Scripture makes it clear that when we give generously to God, He will give generously back to us because God loves generous givers.

Generous giving comes out of a grateful heart and that is what touches the heart of God. David recognized that God had been extremely gracious to him. God had elevated him from an unnoticed shepherd to the position of a king. He was now living in a palace built of cedar. Out of gratitude, he felt the need to build a house for the ark of God which was being housed in a tent at the time. This decision was born out of pure gratitude to God. God was deeply touched.

So what came out of this generous desire? Several blessings:
First: God promised to make David like the names of the greatest men on all the earth. The fulfillment is borne out by the fact that thousands of years after the death of David, people are still being named after him! We constantly talk about how David defeated Goliath.

Second: God promised to subdue all his enemies before him. What a blessing!

Third: The LORD promised to build the house of David. This was more than a physical dwelling place. This referred to the legacy and posterity of David! The truth is, "except the LORD builds a house, the laborers will be building in vain." (Psalm 127:1) Do you want God to build your house? Then build His house first. Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and He will add all other things to you. (Matthew 6:33) He will build not just your physical home but your relationships, marriage, career, business and even your reputation long after you are gone from the earth.

Fourth: God promised that His love will never depart from David's house. Do you want a generational blessing of God's love to follow your children? Then invest in building the house of God. Does this peak your interest and get your attention? Well, try it. Build God's house and God will surprise you with incredible favor. God will watch over His word to perform it in your life. Amen.
There are millions of Christians out there who over the years had contributed money to build houses for God, yet as we speak, they can't even afford a land for themselves talkless of a house. What do you say about that?

You know: you people just don't know the rules of arguement and instead of asking that you be taught, you just plunge yourselves into deep waters with absolute recklessness!

If you are going to mention Absalom's behaviour, you CAN'T JUST STOP THERE, YOU WILL HAVE TO MENTION why his behaviour was due to polygamy! I mean this is very simole and straight forward! So, when I look at Cain getting ao Jealous of Abel that he got him killed, then I ahould attribute that murderous behaviour to the fact that his father married only one wife? You people should make use of your heads ao you don't obtain the reputation of being block heads! What is the connection between polygamy and Absalom's behaviour?
sorry to say it was Absolom that raped his step sister
It was Ammon that actually raped Tamar, Absolom's sister.
Now the question is, if Tamar was Ammon's sister of the same mother, will Ammon rape her?
The answer is no!

Do you see that polygamy can also cause hatred among siblings, one reason that always makes polygamy to be inferior than monogamy.
Because in monogamy, hatred or competition of some sort among siblings are minimal

But the very fact, you bring logical falacies,a.dn that you cannot provide a coherent arguement, shows that you and all the other people on your side of the debate, including @Maximus, are not of God!

One of the tell-tale signs that one is of God and is speaking the mind of God concerning things, is that he provides a clear and logically accurate and coherent arguement! This is beacsue God promised you, the christian, that you have been given a spirit of SOUND MIND (2 Tim 1:7). That is why when Peter and John were brought before the council after healing a man at beautiful gate, he floored every body there with his superior elloquence and logically coherent arguement! Go back and read it again (Acts 4). Infact, to point to you that him being able to present in a very elloquent manner, his logically cohenrent arguement, was due to the fact that he had the Holy Ghost in him, the opened by saying ''Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, spoke up and said:...'' (Acts 4:6). And like I said: this is in fulfilment of the scripture which says: ''...I have given you a spirit of sound mind'' Peter could not have floored the elders, if he was not elloquent and presented a logically coherent arguement. The part of this speech that shows he provided a logical arguement can be seen in his final remark: he said: ''judge for yourselves whom we should obey, you or God'' (Acts 4 vs 19).

So, you, @Paxonel, pointing to Absalom's behaviour and presenting it like it was caused by polygamy without showing us how it is was cause by polygamy, especially when this and mant other evil are found in the lives of monogamous families, means you are presenting a logical fallacy and like we have seen, that is the sure sign that you are speking the mind of the devil concerning this issue! You don't have the spirit of God otherwise, you would have provided a logically.coherent arguement!
take it or leave it, polygamy has fuelled instability in the society than anything else.
If you have ever travelled to northern Nigeria before you will know what I'm talking about.
Most people engaging into terrorism, kidnapping and banditry in that part of the country are products of lack of education due to failed family system caused by indiscriminate traditional polygamous policy

You opinion is based on the idea that when you have two or more women in a home that generates hatred. But what you do not realize is the fact that human psychology is way more complex than you have said it. Look into the bible, and you will see happy and well brought up children who are from polygamous homes
Happy and well brought up children like Absolom who raped his step sister and wanted to overthrow his father, or Joseph that was sold by his step brothers?

Which happy children from polygamous home in the bible are you talking about?

All of you being against polygamy being christian should just take a back sit because you have no case and no point!

If I hadn’t looked it up and thought about it, I wouldn’t have said that it’s nonsense.

They that came up with the classification pretend that the Sahara is a geographical boundary between North Africa and the rest of Africa, which is false. Even if we pretend that the desert is a boundary, they call certain countries within the Sahara “sub Saharan” also, which is senseless.
Look at a map of the continent and ask yourself if Mali, Niger, or Chad are “sub-Saharan”.

They have no problem referring to “North” Africa but forget other cardinal points when it comes to the rest of the continent.
Also, when they talk about Europe they don’t divide the continent based on the Pyrenees or the Alps, do they?
Have you ever heard them say “sub alpine” or “sub Pyrenees” Europe? No! Because it’s senseless just like “sub Sahara”.

Lastly, when they do refer to a major geographic feature such as the Alps when speaking of Roman history, the words they use are “cis alpine” or “trans alpine”. They never say “sub alpine”. Nowhere do they ever refer to themselves as “sub” but here your are referring to yourself as “sub”. ”Sub-Saharan” is a demeaning nomenclature from certain European cultures that love to demean others and it’s a shame that the ones they demean just parrot every bullshit that comes out of the duplicitous mouths.

Few things are more pathetic than an African referring to himself as “sub saharan”.
Ok
Let's leave the Sahara.

How about sub-arctic region that comprises parts of Europe and North America, is the nomenclature "sub-arctic" also demeaning?

I do not seek to correct ancient European excesses that mostly does not apply anymore in their today modern societies

There is no such thing as “sub Saharan” Africans. It’s just some utterly meaningless and demeaning classification meant to separate Africans from North Africa.
have you taken time to Google the meaning of sub-sahara Africa, what did you see?

Back to the topic, the Christians also practiced slavery so I don’t know why you acted as if it was solely an African atrocity. Matter of fact, the Christians were worst slavers than anything the Africans. All of them are mindless, meaningless, nonsensical rituals.
I never disputed the fact that slavery was, and is still part of Christianity.
I only debunked your assertion that Christianity brought the evil experienced today in Africa by saying that the evil was already there before the introduction of Christianity

Can you please identify where in Nigeria they practiced this killing of twins and how widespread it was.

It can’t be the Yorubas who value twins so much that they have special names for them. It can’t be the Hausas and Fulanis that love to have multitudes of children. I don’t think the Igbo nations were killing twins either. So why claim that killing of twins was prevalent when it was just one obscure tribe that no one evens knows the name that allegedly practiced this act?

the tribe isn't obscure, only that it is one of minority tribe.
The Yorubas were known for using fellow humans as sacrifice, killing them to apease orunmila, obatala and sango until they were caught up with modernization just recently.
The hausas were known for invading communities and slaughtering their defenseless citizens only to establish centralized caliphates that was used to rule the region as championed by utman Dan fodio of the 15th century.
This same mindless killing strategy was later adopted for the spread of Islam in the religion. Though the strategy was traditionally motivated initially.

So, you see, religion is never the cause of Africa's problems. The problems have been there long before the introduction of foreign religions

There was no widespread killing of twins.
atleast it was excess of a known African culture and was never a culture that was imported from Europe

Slavery is universal including amongst the Christians you place on a pedestal.
including African cultures too, even long before Sub-Saharan Africans had encountered Europeans.
So, it was never a thing imported by the early Christian missionaries

“Mindless rituals”are part of religion including your Christianity.
mindless rituals like what?
Prayer isn't mindless
Communion isn't mindless
Periodic processions aren't mindless.

Do you know what it means to say a ritual is mindless?
Most of such rituals involves unjudicious killing or distorting from fellow humans which were a thing of African religious rites

Lack of common sense is universal
And is individualistic, not a function of any religion.
There are atheists that lack common sense too…
So lack of common sense is not something that can be generalized hastily

which you also display by disparaging indigenous religions for the same ideas foreign religions promote.
sources of the same idea are optional.
One may choose to get the idea from traditional institutions, another person will maintain his absolute liberty to get it from other means order than traditional institutions, it's a free world.

Talking about killing; Christians have killed more people than all the indigenous religions combined.
