Christianity EtcRe: "Their Worms Shall Never Die" (Mk 9:48) Implies Physical Body in Hellfire. by paxonel(m): 3:13pm On Jan 11
SeraphEl:
Beware: Soul Annihilation is a Dangerous Doctrine: “The smoke of torment is forever” (Rev 14.11)

“The 2nd Death is Eternal Separation from YHVH NOT Annihilation.

The Soul (Hb: Nefesh) comprises of your mind, your will & your emotions. It can also represent the whole physical person. These aspects of the soul- person persist forever, and your spirit lives on eternally either in life or in fires of hell. This implies, you will retain your memory, ageless and timeless, writhing in agony forever. How? Just as spoken of in Scripture, all dead or alive will receive a resurrected body. This is the body for which your soul will inhabit and experience the burning and gnashing of teeth for all eternity. *More on this aspect of resurrected bodies coming.

“Eternal” Consequences is an Ongoing Experience. The Bible uses “eternal” for both punishment and life in Matthew 25:46: “These will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into life eternal.” If eternal life means endless existence, then eternal punishment must mean endless suffering. The parallel makes it clear that both states are equally endless.

Eternal Fire Is Unending. The smoke of their torment is forever (Revelation 14.11) : 9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they (=bodies/souls of the wicked) have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

Second Death does NOT mean Non-Existence. “Second death” in Revelation 20:14–15 refers to eternal separation from YHVH, not annihilation. Death here is relational, not merely physical. The wicked are cast into the lake of fire, which is described as unending and irreversible. Physical death is the first death, which all humans experience because of sin (Hebrews 9:27). The second death is the ultimate and irreversible judgment for those who reject God’s salvation.

Fire Consumes; but is unquenchable. Scripture calls hell’s fire “unquenchable” and says it “never shall be quenched” (Mark 9:43–48]. If fire simply consumed and ended, it would be quenched. Instead, the imagery emphasizes ongoing torment, not quick destruction.
Destruction does not mean cessation. Terms like “destroy” or “perish” often mean ruin, not cessation of existence. For example, 2 Thessalonians 1:8–9 speaks of “everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord,” which implies ongoing exclusion, not non-being.
Immortality of soul is for both righteous and the wicked. Immortality for the righteous does not mean the wicked cease to exist. The wicked experience the “second death” in the lake of fire, which is eternal separation and punishment (Revelation 21:8]. The fire is “unquenchable,” and the punishment is “everlasting.”

Leaving no root or branches (Malachi 4.1-3) speaks of the wicked not leaving any remnant on the new earth (after return of Christ). It does not mean, and it is not saying the soul of the wicked are annihilated.

Lake of Fire and Second Death. Revelation 20:14–15 – “Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire… anyone not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” This is called the “second death,” which is final and irreversible. Revelation 21:8 – Lists those condemned to the lake of fire, emphasizing its permanence. Example of Eternal Judgment. Jude 1:7 – Sodom and Gomorrah are described as “suffering the vengeance of eternal fire,” showing that God’s judgment is everlasting, not momentary. Everlasting Destruction. 2 Thessalonians 1:8–9 –

The ungodly face “everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord.” The biblical evidence strongly supports that hell is real, eternal, and irreversible, not a temporary state ending in annihilation. The language of Scripture—eternal fire, unquenchable fire, everlasting punishment—consistently points to permanent separation from God rather than cessation of existence.

Key Points of the Case Against Annihilation

• The Nature of the Second Death is Relational, Not Just Physical: It is separation from YHVH’s presence forever (2 Thessalonians 1:8–9 – “everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord”). Once cast into the lake of fire, there is no escape or second chance (Rev. 14: 9-11; 20:15). Yeshua describes hell as a place where “their worm shall not die, everlasting, and neither shall their fire be quenched” (Isaiah 66:24; Mark 9:43–48), implying ongoing experience.

• Death = Separation: In Scripture, death often means separation rather than extinction. Physical death separates body and soul; spiritual death separates man from YHVH; the second death is eternal separation from YHVH’s presence and blessings.

• Not Annihilation: If the second death meant non-existence, terms like “unquenchable fire” and “everlasting punishment” would lose meaning. Instead, these terms emphasize permanence and ongoing reality.

• Eternal hell underscores the urgency of salvation and ongoing sanctification; those who endure to the end will not pass thru 2nd death (Rev 2:11).

Next: Ezekiel 18, Malachi 4.1-3, & the parable of the rich & Lazarus in Luke 16: Spiritual Death, Conscious Existence & Eternal consequences
Death is real!
Hell fire implies death, not fire burning people.

Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

The second death implies, anyone who does not believe in Christ does not eternal life. That means the person is not resurrected when he is dead.

This is the picture the vision of John was trying to portray. Remember, revelation was a vision that needed interpretation.
So if you don't interpret it in line with the purpose of Christ which is eternal life, your interpretation will just be out of point.

There is no scripture that says the soul is indestructible.
Adam and Eve sinned from the beginning, death came.
If you don't have Christ, you don't have eternal life and that is death

Christianity EtcRe: The Term "The Spiritural Controls The Physical" Is Used To Intimidate Africans by paxonel(op):
SarcasticWords:
Not just pastors but traditional spiritualist as well and yes it is TRUE.
So, what are your evidences that the supernatural controls the physical?
How are you sure that this popular belief among the Christian church today is not an offshoot of the general African traditional belief which Africans believed since ancient times till now?
How come that Europeans do not share such primitive idea, yet they are still Christians?
Before christianity, Africa had many indigenous spiritual systems, usually centered on a supreme creator plus lesser gods, spirits, and ancestors. Their surroundings did not intimidate them, they were one with nature.

That is a big lie. Like I said, they were one with nature and they believed that their god could communicate with them via The clouds, The air, trees, mountains, vallies etc. They had no fear of such.

Yes Christians and non christians in Nigeria suffer from fear of the unknown
in order words, you are saying that africcans were not afraid of the unknown at the time they didn't see schools to go during ancient times, and now that there are schools and many of them are highly educated, they begin to have fear of the unknown ?

This your opinion is not even consistent with reasoning
no thanks to nollywood movies that depicted for over a decade, movies of that wicked uncle or aunty in the village. Fake pastors of today take advantage of that fear to cashout.

That doesn't change the fact that their is a spiritual world and whatever dwells or goes on there affects our physical world.
do you have any evidence that anything at all such as the air, water, trees, mountains or even humans is affected by such purported spiritual world ?
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms
This is wrong!
This is another aspect pastors are using to intimidate their members in church to put fear in them so that they will cash out from them.

It might interest you to know that the authorities and powers in this scripture does not refer to the devil or some spiritual rhelm. Rather, it refers to human government and authorities which gave order for people like Paul to persecute and kill Christians at that time.

It is not for us to read it and start being afraid of the devil
Christianity EtcThe Term "The Spiritural Controls The Physical" Is Used To Intimidate Africans by paxonel(op):
It is often said by pastors that the supernatural controls the physical. This is not true.

Before Christianity was introduced into Africa in the late 16th century, Africans did not go to school. So, everything they see around them initimidates them.
The clouds, The air, trees, mountains, vallies etc. They look at these things and they fear greatly with their eyes and mouths popped open, wondering what they are.
The air specificaly was a great source of fear because, peradventure, there are some spirits flying around that they couldn't see.

Such is the case of the Nigerian church today. Fear of the unknown.

The fear that one village uncle is flying to torment their success in life while they are huzzling in Lagos. Hence they visit pastors.

Pastors, on the other hand, on seeing them trooping into the church in thousands, read their minds ,and smiles within like Satan..

The exploitation begins.
Christianity EtcRe: Why Is Jesus Not Included In Academic History Books? by paxonel(m): 7:08am On Jan 10
sonmvayina:
There is no evidence that Jesus actually lived, so what would a real historian write about him?

It would be like writing a “history” of King Arthur or Robin Hood, about whom nothing is known but their names and some far-fetched legends.

Was the magical sword in the stone historical, or the bible’s “virgin birth”?

A serious historian would know there is no real evidence that Jesus existed.

Just hearsay.

All that we have is a “big fish” story in which a minnow became a whale.

How did that happen?

It happened because the gospels are fairytale book with:

A virgin birth
walking on water
A ludicrous ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE
and so on…
As with other books of ancient mythology, we can’t assume actual events are being depicted.

Thus, we have to seek confirmation outside the bible.

But no one who lived at the time Jesus allegedly lived wrote a single word about him.

The earliest extra-biblical mention we have of Jesus is an implausible blurb in the histories of Josephus, written long after the fact, if there are any facts.

Furthermore, 92.4% of scholars who expressed opinions deemed the blurb a christian forgery, either largely or entirely.

The next mention was by the Roman historian Tacitus, a century after the fact, and he got Pilate’s job title wrong, strongly suggesting that he was quoting what he had heard Roman christians say.

And hearsay is not evidence.

Thus there is no actual evidence that Jesus existed, or any of his apostles.

An honest historian would conclude that he couldn’t write a history of Jesus, only conjecture.
Jesus is studied under Academic subject like CRS. what subject in schools study atheism?

And by the way, what is prayer?
Prayer is simply requesting God to do something.

But if your prayer is not realistic like the Lord's prayer (our father, who is in heaven.....), are you not scamming yourself like that?

You want pastor to pray for you so that you become rich overnight, and pastor says i will help you do it, is that pastor not a scam?

The Bible gives detailed description of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
1. It is going to be loud
2. it is going to be destructive to the wicked,
3. The righteous dead will rise and the righteous living with be changed into immortality,
4. The wicked will run and hide and say to the mountains and rocks "fall on us and hide us from He that sits upon the Throne"
5. It will be a physical visible event, "shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven" - Acts 1:11
6. All eyes shall see Him and it will be clear and bright as the lightning
7. We'll hear the voice of the Arch angel and the trump of God.

... and so many more signs. We have not yet seen these signs and we are still here... Jesus Christ will soon come but He has not yet come. Read your Bible yourself, prayerfully. You can understand it if you submit to the Holy Spirit.

Bank ke! Bro we are talking about house of God and not just any secular place like bank na!
How are you sure that secular places like banks are also not house of God like the church?

A scripture says the earth is the Lord's and it fullness thereof.

Or, are you trying to restrict God into a confinement called church?
In Matthew 21:12 why did Jesus Christ chased the people selling and buying in the temple?
But he will not do that anymore because there is a new covenant now
Because they were corrupting the house of God with there sinful deeds bro.
The corruption pastors are doing in churches today, have you heard that Jesus Christ used whip to chase them out?

So you see, the church is not any place called building anymore, it is a place in our heart as far as the new covenant is concern.
As Christians were are not limited to show our light only in the church.
Our light should be seen everywhere we go, it is now a secular matter.
What happened to Ananias and Sapphira in the Bible?
The same thing can happen to anyone who is fraudulent in schools, offices, banks, motor park, etc
Why did Abraham, Isaac, jacob and every prophets or sons of God built alter anytime they overcame an obstacles right in that very place?
it was required in the covenant they had with God at that time.
But it is not required anymore now.

There is time for everything.
A church is a sacred place and not a place for hullabaloo.
Also, the whole world is sacred set aside for God.
It has been so from the beginning of creation.
Yes, for the wages of unconfessed sin is dead; Sin earns spiritual and eternal separation from God (death), but God offers a free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ (Confess your sins to him) which earned us with an unmerited grace. This explains that while sin has consequences, God provides redemption (in Jesus Christ) highlighting the "wages" of sin as deserved punishment and "eternal life" as God's free gift, not something earned.

Summary is, there is always a punishment for sinners but is it not wise to just turn a new leaf from every fleshly desires and focus on God even though we never really earned His LOVE.

God is love and I like how we are engaging ourselves to be enlightened.
you are absolutely correct here

martinskelly:
What is God the spirit, the Law is physical? That's not the point here, you are digressing from the original post, the op was saying perpetual sin (let's focus on that) with people serving in the household of God.
How can you love God with all your heart in your perpetual sin (so how can the weak who are looking up to you not fall back to there sinful ways)
What do you think delays your walk with God? Sin!
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.” yes I believe this but my summation is this; if you don't want your walk with God to be delayed leave sin (fleshly desires).

Nobody is saying God is not Spirit and He doesn't judge like humans, Nobody is also saying don't have "Faith" what me and op are particularly about is "when serving God devoid yourself of Sin.

Now let me paint a reality for you: you worship at a particular sanctuary/synagogue/church as the case maybe and this fine/strong/convicting preacher preaches everytime about repentance and the kingdom God every now and then.
One day you saw him in a beer parlour drinking and smoking with a harlot and straight to the room! My question is this, what will be your summation (human mind first)? The mind must convict you first before any other thing.

To add to it; For the bible says judgment will start from the household of God.

Shalom.
Ok, what you are saying is that the op did not refer to the spiritual consequence of living in sin which is eternal death? John 3:36

Now I'm understanding what he is trying to say. But it appeared that the things he mentioned like delay, stagnation, shame, backwardness, emptiness, no glorious presence e.t.c comes like some sort of spiritual courses to the sinner because he is playing with God by working in the house of God and being a terrible sinner elsewhere?

What if he was working in bank and committing the same sins elsewhere will he not incure the same punishment or spiritual courses?
Christianity EtcRe: Dangers Of Serving God Faithfully In Church While Living In Sin by paxonel(m): 12:47am On Jan 05

This your bolded is not aligning with me; Isn't it when you don't believe that God is good, and therefore you do the things which He tells you not to do; the things He tells you to avoid through the conscience within you. You don't obey in the things which He tells you to obey is that not sin.
Bro, unbelief is the same thing as sin.

John 16:8-9 mentioned sin (the bad things you voluntary do even after conviction); he says when Jesus Christ will come He will judge world of sin.

Sin was the ultimate thing separating us from our beloved father.
Isaiah 59:2, Galatians 5:19-21.

You are using the word sin and unbelief differently as if they are not the same.
The blood of the lamb atoned our sins on the cross of Calvary thereby giving us a new relationship with God through Jesus Christ his only begotten son but that does not mean it is a direct ticket to heaven, you still need to confess/forsake them with your own mouth and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal saviour.
There are two separate aspects here and they have absolutely nothing to do with each other.
Anytime you try to mix the activities or functions of these two together, you will run into problem. Because you will not even understand again :
1. The spirit :- which are things that we can't see.
2. The physical :- Things that we can see

1. God is a spirit.
2. The law is physical

Please separate them. Don't mix them together. This is the only way we you can rightly divide the word of truth.

God does not judge the way the human minds think.
The only thing that pleases or satisfy him is FAITH, which is a spiritual thing.
Without Faith it is impossible to please God.

All your physical abilities to try to be good person or bad person does not move him an inch, because he is spirit.
The only thing they move are humans who are physical.

That's why the bible encourages us to repent of our sins and do good all the time. Because if we don't, you will be judged by the human law.

Note that there are also two separate laws :
1. LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART. This one is spirit
2. LOVE YOUR NEIHBOUR AS YOURSELF. This one is physical

Another clear example of how these two laws works separately, have you ever seen a person who passes exam but he doesn't read or work for it?
Life doesn't work that way.
You must do the needful, then pray.

Jesus Christ is the mediator of the new covenant that does not mean that someone should go ahead sinning.

Bros how can someone believe in Jesus and his/her actions says otherwise.
When things doesn't suit some set of people they tag it "People of the old" but claim that same God of isreal.
Some references, atonment and warnings are giving in the Bible for some reasons so the new generation can take a cue or learn from them not necessary all the time referred to only the "people back then" it goes beyond too.
When you accept or believe the bible, believe it with all your heart not seclude anything out from it to suit your narratives.
Your John 3:16 is for everyone and we all are sinners, but once you confess Jesus with your mouth and believe that God raised him from the dead then you are good to go.
But again, shall we then continue in sin that grace may abound? Paul replies with a resounding “God forbid” (Romans 6:2).

My question to you is, What makes someone a sinner before God?
Adam and Eve sinned from the beginning death came to mankind. But Christ came and restore back the eternal life that mankind lost.

Before God, a sinner is not the person that commit sin. A sinner is the person who refused to believe.

Did you read the final judgement?

Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

It didn't say whosever commit sin was cast into the lake of fire.

Ofcourse, everyone was judged according to the law and everyone was found guilty because all have sinned. 1 John 1:8

But the only thing that justifies is our Faith.
Not our works.
Scriptures says the just shall live by his Faith

that doesn't make them sinners before God.
Though, they are sinners before men therefore they need to repent of their sins otherwise, they will be judged according to the law by men, not God.

Meanwhile, it is God that judge into eternal life, not men and not by according to the law.
And since they believe in Christ inspite that they sinned, by Grace they are justified. John 3:16

And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
you people are not understanding it.

Engage your brain and think over this.

God created Adam and Eve to live forever like God,but they sinned along the line and death came to mankind.
Understand that death is a spirit.
And when God created man, he breathed his spirit into man, so life is also a spirit.

So, basically there two types of spirit.
1.The holy spirit from God which giveth life
2. The other spirits which are not from God

Hence, Daniel's prophecies.
For instance, his vision about the great statue. It also prophesied about the coming of the holy spirit which is Jesus.
And prophet Isaiah also mentioned the same thing.

The summary of it all is, the government of Jesus is the holy spirit in man that restores the eternal life that Adam and Eve lost in the beginning 1 cor 15:22.
It is not any physical or man made government that rules any physical country or state.
That's why, when Pilate interrogated Jesus, are you coming to set up a parallel government with the Roman Empire who was ruling Israel at that time?
That is treasonable!

But Jesus let him know that his government is not of this world.
Meaning, his government is not a parallel government. But rather, it is the holy spirit in the heart of his believer(his disciples) which restores eternal life back to the believer.
Romans 10:10.

So Pilate could not find any fault in him or anything treasonable

With this understanding, the big question that your kingdom hall has refused to answer so that you become a Christian is, WHAT IS GOD'S KINGOM?

Until you answer that question for yourself and by yourself alone, you are not a Christian.
Unbelievers don't want Luke 1:31-33, Daniel 2:44 & Matt 6:9-10 in their bibles.
Unbelievers are people who don't know. Eg Jw, Muslims, Atheists, etc
