bodejohn: In the news, bodejohn's genco temporarily shuts down following Sunday morning clouds and heavy down pour...Nice one!! |
For some of you who don't think spirits exist, you may want to listen to this confession and judge for your self. NB: close the spaces in between the URL .... http://www. you tube .com/watch?v=yyQwX4Q2jbI (CONFESSION of a Former Devil Worshipper - Sister Favour ) |
Hi, Any update or report on financial status or number of Pioneer members should not be posted here. It should be made available in the meeting and any other avenue the meeting will agree to. |
Still Available - Down to N700k Apologies to those that sent me mails that didn't get reply immediately. I've however replied to all |
exxell: Before, I was a catholic. Now, I am a core catholic. Soon, I will become a staunch Catholic.... Was born a Catholic, Will Marry A Catholic, Will Remain A Catholic And Will Die A Catholic! Glory To Jesus, Honour To Mary.I'm with you dear. Nice one. I really don't know why people find it difficult to understand that it is our choice to be Catholics; just as it is also their choice to belong to their own religious bodies. All my life I have prayed as a catholic asking for intercessions from Our Mother Mary and the saints - Behold my prayers have been answered. Why on earth should someone think I will dump the church just because of mere criticism online? If you don't like what we do and cannot join us, then leave us to be. |
TotalGreen: Hi,@TotalGreen. Thanks. But I really don't get the connection yet. The battery bank has a +ve & a -ve terminal. Should I run one cable each from +ve terminal of the two controllers to the battery bank +ve and do same for the -ve terminal of the bank? @George, many thanks for the insight on the battery input toggle switch |
George_D: abunafiu,Supported. I experienced performance boost after installing PRAG and not otherwise. I just started noticing though that my 3.5kva Sukam inverter will trip off and on when I power it on. Sometimes it trips off 2 or 3 times before it stabilizes. Anyone has that experience yet? Hope I don't have to disconnect and carry it again for repairs. Maybe its time for replacement? Meanwhile, I'm searching the posts where connecting 2 solar array controllers to a battery bank was discussed. Please help me with the page number if you recollect - |
Hi, Just to confirm that we are very much around scouting for money to beat the deadline. Everything being stated by Pat is in order and true (As agreed in the meetings) Cheers |

How much would be the landing cost to Lagos for these: 1. Toyota Corolla 2003 model with manual gear 2. Volkswagen bus (veragon or faragon?) in good condition and good mileage. This is to be used for transport patdozie@yahoo.com |

dave07: Nice Thread indeed, informative and accurate too, wondered why this is not conspicuous enough on the landing pages cos this, the career thread and travel section seems to be where I have seen matured and balanced moderating and comments.Hi Dave, good insight. Please can you explain how the DC bulbs work. I mean for example,, the Inverter (or power grid) supply AC current. Do I need run another parallel wiring per bulb for the DC bulbs - since the load wouldn't pass through the inverter?. I assume it will be powered directly from the batteries? If so, doesn't it mean that there wont be any regulation for over draining the batteries? And what are the costs (say for the 4W DC bulb?) Pdozie (patdozie@yahoo.com) |
I fully support the 6 year single tenure. If GEJ agrees not to benefit from it, then its an honorable thing and I applaud him. the law itself is good GEJ or not |

Durchmann: You sound like you already have an idea on what to do with your idle fund. Why don't you just do what your heart tells you and learn from the experience? We will only give tips but you are the only one who knows whats best for you. Don't trust the street tips for investing. Just increase your financial IQ by either getting information or doing what you think is best and learning from the experience. No one has a monopoly to education, believe me.Best post for this thread thus far. |
alstacs: Hello friends, pls what does pure sine wave thing mean abd how it different from the other one?I suggest you go through this thread on solar: https://www.nairaland.com/390522/solar-energy-complement-fta I followed the thread and today I have solar panels also charging my battery bank. take time and go through. You will get all the info and calculations. More so, you can post your questions there. Cheers |
Whether Jonathan or Buhari or Fashola rules, that will not solve the problem. We are only addressing the symptoms and not the actual disease. The Nigerian structure is wrong. The power in the center is too powerful. Why can't they mute the idea of regional government so they everyone that wants to rule will rule his region and develop it as he wants? |
bosbos: Where can I buy zenith batteries? You can call mr henry 08025810677 in Lagos directly. he's the sole distributor of zenith batteries. |
idsolar: @bosbos go for sukam 3.5kva and zenith. they are very good frm exprience as an installer except fundwise, this is my choice always. not that others are not good oSupported |
LOL... This forum is not for the Ogas on Top oo.. @TotalGreen, thanks for the info. I've set the controller not to equalize already |
ile naira: @bodejohn, thanks for the reply. A stabiliser between Nepa and the inverter is a good thing. I'm assuming it would have to be a 'whole house' stabiliser rather than one for a single appliance. What's the typical cost for one?Go for Servo Voltage stabilizer. More efficient than relay types and should serve your whole house. The last time I bought mine (PRAG) it cost me N45000 (for 10KVA). Here is the link: http://www.buyright.biz/index.php?module=product&event=viewdetail&pid=64 |
Hi Bode, I thought you were having 24/7 supply . With my setup, I run the inverter my from 6pm till day 7am next day (13 hrs). But the freezer gets turned off by 10pm leaving light points and fans. Since everyone leaves home in the morning, we usually turn off the inverter. Normally if the inverter is turned off and PHCN comes up, the inverter still supplies and powers all gadgets, but if PHCN goes off, every gadget switches off. And I have two freezers and 1 fridge, with water dispenser that will be on (with PHCN). If all of them should hang off the inverter, the load will be too much for the batteries. Or what do you advice? So in my case the solar ends up charging the batteries alone (with no load). that may be why the AH is smaller (My thoughts!!) @George, Sure I will still hang the Stabilizer. I tried hanging it when I was setting up but the wall was too loose. The nails wouldnt hold tight. i spent so much time even getting the MPPT controller and the other ones hung. But I will tackle it. |

8 batteries (4 x 100AH AND 4 x 200AH) - Still observing behaviour. So far so good.

bodejohn: Who needs a gen? I even sold mine off in January. Thanks Bode. At exactly 7 days, I harvested 309AH (15KW). I've cleared the logs for March now. Just out of curiosity, how many batteries are you running with? With 720 Watts solar capacity you have uninterrupted power for 2 weeks? with freezer and blenders firing on? I should be doing same with my 750W capacity but i doubt I can last for 3 days without PHCN complimenting...
|
Nice one Bodejohn, I got mine installed last weekend. (3 panels x 250W). For the whole week, I havent bought a litter of fuel nor powered my Gen. The combination of Solar & PHCN has kept the batteries alive even with PHCN holding power for over 24 hrs (in the name of shedding or rationalzation). I have to figure out how many AH I harvested in the week and then reset it for March. I however need one clarification, on the MPPT there is the dip switch for setting up batteries for equalization. I set it on auto (28 days). Is that recommended? |
kiretiv: hello house I need the Morningstar meter like the one George D uses for the charge controller in Portharcourt. pls contact will be appreciated thanksI got mine from Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007NMUM2E/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 You can place your order online using your credit card. Alternatively, you can call vitus (08039644115) and discuss with him to get it and send to you in PH |
Welldone guys, For the gurus, ARM just introduced a new product that buys into the money market (TB inclusive): http://www.arminvestmentcenter.com/armmoneymarketfund/. What are your thoughts? |
ile naira: @pdozie, it is probably safer to use one set. For how long have you had both sets of batteries connected?. Did you notice anything about the batteries? You seem to have verified the voltage across the resulting bank, did you do the same for current? I feel your concern about seemingly wasting a set of batteries but whichever way you decide to go, your purchase is not a waste. If you're confident everything checks out, use them all as plannned otherwise, sell one set and buy more of whichever set you've retained.I just started using both sets over the past weekend. They are still operational. Yea, I used my meter meaure the voltage. When the inverter said 'battery charged', I got 51.8v. I really dont know how to measure the current. If I put the meter terminals on the +ve & -ve of the batteries and push the meter button to Amp, it doesnt read anything. Please advice.... For now everything looks OK. I havent disconnected one set yet. I will probably leave it intact till this weekend fter I connect my solar panels then I can monitor for a while. Please someone help me confirm how to use the digital meter to measure Current accoress the batteries. Cheers |
As adviced by Bodejohn, I googled it up. While many are against it, a particular blog wasnt convinced its a bad idea: http://www.morganscloud.com/2011/10/03/mixing-battery-sizes/ I will however disconnect one bank for now till further notice |
