There were no signs of any bad omen that Sunday, 29-Jul-2012. We all went to church after which my brother (Obinna) went to an errand in the airport. He was driving a toyota car. On his way back at Dopemu bridge, a lady driver somehow broke off his side mirrow. As usual they stopped to argue it out, and suddenly the lady driver, who had her boyfriend in the passenger sit and who was driving a Toyota Avlon car with REG number AR123CAL (Calabar) entered her car and drove off. Obinna who also had his good friend in his car, ran after them on foot, signalling to his friend to drive the car along. He caught up with the day and blocked her (Stood in front of her car) in a bid to force her to stop. The lady didn't!!. He smashed into him, but he managed to jump on her bonnet and held the wipers. The lady now drove fast, swerving the car until Obinna lost grip and fell. She climbed him with the tyres and he died on the spot!!! The lady didnt stop. She drive off. When his friend who drove his car came to the spot, he carried him to a nearby hospital in Akowonjo and he was confirmed dead. As luck will have it, a navy man who was driving behind them and who witnessed what was happening, quickly parked his car and got an okada to purse the lady and her car. He scouted within the streets till he saw where she parked. He quickly challanged her, arrested her and the friend and took them to the nearby police station (Afoka - Shasha). In the Nigeria of today, I call the navy man a HERO!!! Well, the police kept her in a cell and she was charged to the court 2 days after (Ikeja magistrate court) and she pleaded NOT GUILTY. Her lawyers applied for bail and she was granted bail. Now this lady is about 26 yrs, a student of UNILAG. The car she was driving belongs to a pastor of Christ Embassy where she worships. Registered with the name Pastor Edem Ephraim - Ikoyi. The car is still with the police but its worthy of note that this pastor who we confirmed is in Lagos has not made any effort to condole with the family (knowing his car was used to kill). I attached the picture of the deceased. I also have the picture of the lady and her primary/alternate addresses but because the case is in court, I will hesitate for now. I havent seen this kind of heartlessness before. Even a fowl standing in front of your car compels you to stop, how much more a human being. Yes, my brother could have broke her own mirrow when he caugt up with her instead blocking her(But did he know he was dealing with devil himself? (Becasue I see no other explaination for such act). Even when we blame the devil, note that Devill only makes a home in any temple or body that opens the door for him. Its painful that this lady is a christian. Obviously not all christians are christians in practice. Please be careful of the actions, decision and choices you make. Think before you make those decisions. You can imagine the pains of our Mother and dad who are both alive!!!! Heavens will judge.

@deeplo, have you placed orders yet for your panels? I'm also planning to buy and begin with 2 solar panels. may be we can order together and see if it will reduce our costs? (that is if you haven't placed orders yet) Kind regards |
Not everyone can afford to substitute by using solar energy. For those who can afford it, check out these links (solar, inverter etc) https://www.nairaland.com/684167/inverter-users-lets-experience/4 https://www.nairaland.com/390522/solar-energy-complement-fta |
Hi all, I stumbled to this site on how to revive a sulphated battery. (A battery that is dead or is bout to die). This requires technical skills to build the circuits. I will give it a trial. In case you do before me - share your experience. http://poormanguides..com/2009/06/homemade-diy-battery-desulfator-charger.html |
George_D: pdozie,Thanks. But from the roof (where the solar panels should be) to ground is already over 7 feet ![]() |
Thanks for the advie George. Please what is the recommended cable size to connect the solar to the battery? |
Hi George. Thanks for the feedback What is your take on External battery charger. I understand there are automatic ones that regulates the charging(float charge). Like I mentioned earlier, I will be starting off with 2 solar panels. I know the juice from both panels may not be enough to fully charge the batteries when PHCN power doesnt come for a while, in which case my batteries are still at a risk damaging faster. (I'm still at a lost on what to do to the one that is down now. It doesnt seem like it can be redeemed) |
Thanks a lot George. 1. Did you actually get the battery desulphator? Are you using it? Does it work as claimed? 2. I called Vitus now. Said 200W sharp panel = N90k; (charge controller 40w = 35k, 60w=53k) (is 40w ok for 2 panels in series)?. I may have to wait to receive another salary to proceed )3. I've gone through the thread but just need 're-clarification': The 48v output of the solar in series, goes to input of charge controller (CC), while the output of CC goes to battery (12x4 in series). This is the same connection point on the battery that goes to Inverter (DC)- is this right? 4. I guess the change-over switches are for the AC voltage. With my current setup, I already have a change-over between Gen and PHCN to supply the inverter. What is the 2nd change-over for? definitely not within the DC side? |
George_D: ifedesire,Great thread!! Thx to all who has been sharing especially GeorgeD. I was going to ask the question posted by Ifedesire, especially regarding d above reply. I'm already using a Su-kam 3.5KVA inverter with 4x200aH 12v batteries for about 2 yrs now (bought from a friend who bought from Su-kam and used only 2 months before packing it up. the inverter has been working but of late am having small funny issues with it. E.g the display doesnt show anything now..plus other issues.. Average estimate of my load is 650W (not all points are powered at all times). PHCN still alternates our supply: someday on, someday off. Days we are on there is no gurantee of power. Anyway, my aim to maintain uninterrupted supply without spending money on gen/fuel. Unfortunately im not achieving that. I get about 6 hrs with inver if used during daytime with TV and 1 freezer on and about 9hrs at night with 1 freezer and fans on after which the inverter will beep. (here comes the gen again!!!) Within the 2 years of usage, Ive changed the 4 su-kam batteries (2 at a time when they fall below 8v) which is a concern. I expected the batteries to last upto 3 years!!! Now out of the 4 batteries in use now, I just noticed a total of 49.3v output from the bank as against 51-53v on full charge. One of the batteries read 10.4v!!! Its going down again, less than one year!!! I have been thinking - is it that the batteries are not receiving enough charges thus the early dying or is it from the batteries? Regarding the above quote, I'm looking at having 2 solar panels in series with my existing inverter infrastructure. But the change-over bit can you pls clarify? I thought it should be for solar and Gen/phcn inputs with common output (looped) feeding the inverter? for solar panels, morningstar charge controllers, cables I guess Vitus should be able to give current rates?.... CHeers George_D: @all,Please I need this if still available. How can I get it? patdozie@yahoo.com |
This is not a nice thread. It is an execellent thread! In Nigeria now, Inverter is a necessity (if one can afford it). I've been using mine for 2 years now. The installer was smart enough to re-wire and place heavy points (A.C., cooking machine, pumping machine etc) in a different distribution point. Till I stumbled to this thread, i didnt realise that the batteries may not be charging well (3.5KVA Su-Kam inverter, 4 200aH Sukam batteries - all four now replaced within d 2 years). I observed that one battery die first (about 8v when down)not all at the same time. I've however started having issues with the inverter. Seems it needs some servicing. Not sure its something I can do myself. Please advice: 1. Sometimes when NEPA is off and battery is supposedly fully charged (51v max for the 4 batteries), if I power on the inverter it doesnt come on. But if NEPA or Gen is switched on it works. After NEPA outage again, if you try powering it, it comes up. What could be wrong? 2. Whenever I power the inverter these days (No NEPA), it trips off on its own and comes on again. Sometimes it trips off and on upto 4-5 times before it stabilizes. With NEPA or GEN supply this does not happen. 3. The LED display that shows you info on the status of inverter now displays only bars (blank). No info. 4. With 51v output on full charge, I reckon the batteries are not getting charged up right? Will it be wise to use an external charger? How can I connect it? SHould the batteries be disconnected from the inverter before using external charger? How much is the charger? Where can I get good one? |
This story is a mail forwarded to my mailbox. I have not really confirmed if its true. But please be careful - for those of you in Abuja Date sent: Thursday, June 21, 2012, 4:15 PM In the wake of disturbing revelations about the maintenance and operation of the Indian-owned Dana Airlines, other Indian-owned and operated businesses in Nigeria, particularly medical facilities, and coming under scrutiny. It took a national airline disaster of calamitous proportions to call public attention to other potential national crisis. I am hurt and I wish to spread this news fast. If you had listened to the network news in FRCN this morning, this issue was seriously broadcasted and analyzed by the Reporter. It was also broadcast Monday last week. The Indian operated Specialist hospital in Karu Site, Abuja are Quacks, Fake, 419 and exploiters of Nigerians. If you know anybody going or planning to go to that hospital, please stop the person immediately. The hospital was built by FCT as Karu General hospital but all of a sudden it was leased to this killer Indians to operate as specialist hospital.Charges in this hospital is exploitative, only registration alone in N25,000.00. MAIN ISSUE In November 2011, my sister went to the Indian Hospital for Fibroid operation. The Indian thieves diagnosed her and said her case is very complex. She was charged a total of N700,000.00. On the day of operation, she was taken to the theatre and was Open up. What do I mean. She was torn OPEN-UP and stitched back without removing any fibroid. When she recovered from the effect of the Anastasia, they congratulated her for successful operation and that lumps of fibroid had been removed from her. My sister requested from the doctors to see the lumps which is a normal practice in every hospital, the Indian thieves said the lumps had been taken to lab for analysis, that they will show her later. Till today my sister have not sighted the fibroid lumps that was removed from her. From the night after the operation, my sister started feeling serious pains than what she had before. She complained to the Indian thieves, they said it will be okay and discharge after three days with the pains. She went home and had more pains than ever aside the torn wound. We decided in December 2011 to go for scan in another lab. The scan result shows that there are heavy lumps of fibroid in her and that there is absolutely no sign that any removal attempt had been carried out even though there is evident that she was opened up for surgery. We tried the scan in another specialist hospital in Asokoro, Abuja. It was the same result. My sister then disguised herself with another name and went for scan in the same Indian specialist hospital Abuja and they confirmed that she was open up but not an iota of fibroid was removed from her. My sister lied to the scan officers that the operation was done in Benin hence she will require a comprehensive report from the Indian Killer hospital and the they did a beautiful job in putting the whole report in black and white. January this year, my sister went for the same fibroid operation in another hospital in Asokoro, Abuja and she was operated successfully and the lumps of fibroid removed were shown, the operation was videoed and pictures of everything were taken and are well kept. She has written petitions to Medical and Dental Council of Niger, Nigerian Medical association, Minister of Health, and we making effort to present it to the National Assembly. Many media reporters have interviewed her, Some have written already. FRCN has carried twice as main news item. Investigation by media reveals that those Indians are quacks, they do not posses basic medical credentials. The Head of the hospital an Indian woman is not a medical doctor. The deputy is her son and not a medical doctor as well. A specialist hospital operating in a Nigerian Government Built Infrastructure do not have a medical director! Nigerian Medical Council have confirmed that this Indians were brought during the former Minister of FCT and were horridly given temporary permission to operate without passing through the normal registration procedure by the council. DONT BE A VICTIM, BE WARNED. SPREAD THE NEWS TO ANY NIGERIAN YOU KNOW. AVOID INDIAN SPECIALIST HOSPITA, KARU SITE, ABUJA. BY Azubueze Pedro. |

Mekusnwa: Mekusnwa: Where did they go to pick this character from? There's no end to what theses Gej haters will not do to get at him. Suddenly, they hve gone to generate a Ghanian professor to come and give a disjointed analyses of that interesting Media chat. Who interviewed this professor? Who made him world's foremost economist? I will not be surprised if this man was cloned by SAHARAREPORTERS or Kobojunkie to lend credibility to their falsehood. Let me assume that the man exist and face the issues raised. If the professor is not silly, he wouldn't be ridiculing a president of another country the way he did. in any case I DISAGREE whole heartedly with all his points. The above analysis from Mekusnwa is simply one of the best!! Believe it or not, GEJ may seem to be slow in making things happen but he is definitley not stupid. The mess created in this country will take years to clean so allow him! Moreso, many people both within & outside the governemnt are bent on sabotaging his efforts. Come on!!! |
LMAO: (UniLag students invented "UNILAG For Life" shirts) MAULAG students you mean? here is a university thinking for betterment of the society and our dear MAULAG students are busy rioting for a selfish name |
You better start shooting the OP for being too crafty |
There is nothing good about the moves. - Why didnt the reps invite the president since 2011 when the bombing started till a reprisal attack occured? - Why did the house refuse a joing meeting with Senate for the briefing - has the house invited the service chiefs and feel they didnt answer the questions before inviting the preseident - Is the house constitutionally empowered to summon a president (Need to clarify that, but i doubt) Hope they are not trying to put fire in president's bombom so they can do trade by barter with the Farouk's over $600m bribe money? |
faithin9ja: How many governors have done well for the their regions? how many local government chairmen have done well for their local regions? how will dividing Nigeria into stronger regions make things better? The events of the past shaped our behaviour of today. We expect the center to check and hold the LGA charimen reponsible when they do not perform. How may employees/appointees of the FG will check the LGA chairmen? If you regionalise it, then more efficient it should be (less people per region to be checked). Do you know how many courts/judges we have today in comparison to the number of cases in those courts. If you regionalise it, more courts and judges per region and lesser cases than what is obtained now to handle. Look at the police; we have people from West overseeing activities of policing in down North. For him to perform well, he will need another 2 years to acquaint himself with the environs. Kobojunkie: This issue has absolutely NOTHING to do with the existence, or none, of subsidy. Folks need to learn the art of NOT MIXING issues, especially UNRELATED issues such as these.Depends on where you are looking at it from. Except if I'm in the wrong post, the issue here is brbery scandal that is related to the subsidy investigation and report of house of reps. If there is no subsidy then there wont be an investigation and then there wont be this bribery scandal. Of course there is corruption in other segments but just IF there was no subsidy this very act of corruption involving Farrouk & Otedola will not exist. Therefore This issue has absolutely SOMETHING to do with the existence, or none, of subsidy (My take) |
IF subsidy is removed, it will have economic impact to every Nigerian. If it is not removed, humongous theft, corruption and riddle to Nigerian entity will continue. It therefore means that Nigerians will have to sacrifice and bear the impact of the removal should they want to see this avennue of corruption removed. Definitly GEJ does not have what it takes to confront the cabal. Should I blame him? OBJ who we know is fearless was not able to tame them. He rather tactifully concealed their actions so no one knew what was going on. GEJ will to an extent be commended for opening up. Yes he didnt have the balls to take them on but he had a plan to ensure they dont steal again. If you ask me - Yes lets remove the subsidy. We can always adjust. For those calling for the military - its an option of course. I used to toy with that option but not until I read most of the history books from 1966 Nzeogwu led coup to the Reprisal coup that threw up Gowon and so on, up until the civil war. Those were dark days occasioned by mistrust and same corruption that is ravaging us now. Yes mistrust is the key word. From the North to East to West to South there is total mistrust right from the days of Saraudana. that seed of mistrust is the basis for bad governance we have today. So instead of military intervention, I will rather call for re-structuring of Nigeria to regional provinces and have he center weakened. This is what Nigeria needed just before the civil war started and that need is yet to disappear. |
Insightful, nice, creative. If only they can focus on norturing our talents and leave the oil money for now |
merengue: @BizBooks: Please try not to have children, it will be horrible if you pass this kind of retarded thinking to a new generation. So because we are not Chelsea fans, we should not criticize one of the most idiotic decisions ever taken in the long and shameful history of idiocy? You asked for things that they should be doing instead, here are a few:@merengue - Thank you |
My take is that the reason there is uproar wrt to renaming the university to MAULAG is, may be, because citizens are frustrated. Frustrated that they are not seeing the dividends of democracy promised by FG. If not, what is there in the change of name? The substance and quality of the university is not changed. GEJ announced the name change and everyone cries out saying he didnt follow the right process. GEJ now passes through the due process yet the outry continues. What else do we want? As far as am concerned, announcing the name change was not out of order. If the ministry of education had begun implementation of the name change immediately then you can say GEJ didnt follow the process. i think we should save our breath and focus on more weighty issues. If FG decides to rename the university to MAULAG so be it!!! It doesnt remove garri from your table or dies it? |
Emmy9ite: The police and the press are always telling us lies about the number of deaths and casualties.. The formula is X multiplied by 5, where X is the number death reported..thus, 11 x 5 = 55 people died on sunday..I fully support your assertion. I recall in one occasion when they reported that no one died in an incident yet my friend was busy burying the uncle that died in same incidence! |
Nice move -(better late than never). But why is the H/A championing it; This is why you find FG saying reports from H/A on some of the enquiries will be subjected to yet another 'investigation'. As far as I'm concerned, it is not the duty of the H/A(House of Assembly) to conduct such investigation. It is the executive that should set up a body of enquiry preferably a judicial one so that their recommendations can be applied immediately. |
deltalife: You are probably one of the major problems of Nigeria. its not about the plane Crash, WHAT POLICY OF GEJ'S REGIME HAS BEEN FAVOURABLE to you as an individual, and to the country as a whole. The Uni-Lag is an example of impunity. A situation where a leader will not accept a mistake and currect it, in UNI-LAG the LAGOS there is the glory of it and the glory is now gone, infact I think you need to go back to school. There is no better school than this forum here. So I'm ready to learn if you are ready to teach. The fact that the policies has not touched you does not mean it wil not touch you; nor does it mean it has not touched others. But you seem not to understand my point. The Nigerian entity as it is now, is so structured such that those policies may seem not to touch anyone but in actual sense it has. And in some cases deliberate efforts are made to see that the purpose of such policies are not met due to personel or other interests. As per UNILAG, whatever glory it still has (if it remains) should not be lost by name renaming. But should reflect in the quality (not quantity) of students that are produced. You care about name and not what knowledge you can acquire to brighten your future? |
The foundation of the house called Nigeria is weak. Weaked by hatred among ethnic units, by corruption, by quest for power. GEJ is a bit unfortunate to have inheritted such a country. And to answer your question - NO. his regime is not the worst. Rather, his regime is being projected as such which is not. Like someone posted - was GEJ the reason why the plane crashed? Was he the person that directed that accidents at Lagos Ibadan road to happen? Is he the commander of Boko haram? No he's not. Of course he may not have that attribute of being confrontational like OBJ (Every leader has his style). But is it not discouraging that in few cases where he took bold decisions all he got was riots (Ask Unilag, Nay MAUlag students). Like I had maintained in previous posts, Nigeria needs to go back to regional form of Government as we had it in 60's. Not that its devoid of corruption but it takes away a level of hatred and ethnic rivalry. And yes, fighting corruption may be effective within that structure. GEJ is not the problem but the Nigeria structure and its underlying foundations |
Kx: We ve seen armed robbery on the rise, insecurity, unemployment, ritual killing, bad road, highest level of corruption, plain crash, fuel price increase, boko haram, banks closing shops etc, all in the 1st yr of this govt alone. There are many people/agencies that should share the blame including the management of Dana Air (if all allegations shared on site is confirmed to be true). Some people in this forum alleged that the plane was not Ok to fly but the management insisted they fly it; Its another thing to confirm the veracity of this claim. Of course if true, then Dana Air management has a good case to answer. Meanwhile, I heard on 99.3FM that the black Box has been recovered. Lets hope more revelations will come from it. For those that died - Eternal rest grant unto them oh Lord! And may your perpertual light shine upon them. May their souls rest in peace. Amen!! |
There is nothing wrong in renaming the school. People are hiding under the "president did not follow the due course" rail while hiding the fact that that they are merely allowing pride to over shadow them " Imagine having a sexy name changed?) As far as am concerned, there are so many things the students can protest for; But this is not one of them. I read a post where some of the students were saying they fought to enter the school because of the name!! Ehhh?? So not to gather acedemic and relevant experience that will help form your life afterwards/ Will you be a student forever!!! Other school of thought admit that MKO deserves honor but the president should have started with a national embodiment like the national stadium Abuja. Nice one. But is a anything wrong in naming UNILAG after MKO and then finding another thing (be it in Abuja or elsewhere) to name after him? |
