The only hombased players that should be on the plane to both the Nations and world cups is the No. 18, Ogbonna, and Demehin
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 6:03am On Jun 17, 2021
The other thing that was frustrating was the lack of aggression from the Falcons. Whenever a player not named Payne, Oluehi, Ebi, or Alozie was on the ball, that player was basically sleep-walking and didn’t even care to look at available passing options on time.
It was just too casual for most of the game from most of our players. I guess the fact that there was no major competition until at least the second half of next year made most of the players take a lackadaisical approach to all 3 games. While the US players were fighting for spots on the Olympic team, hence they played with aggression.

Seriously?

It's like you've forgotten who Nnadozie is. One of the best female goalkeepers in the world presently.
I know Nnadozie is the #1.. What I meant is that Oluehi will be part of the squad to both tournaments.

Our keeper is my WOTM
Agreed! Some of her runs prevented this game from being a whitewash in favor of the US.

This Summer series has virtually stamped Oluehi’s place at the next Nations Cup and World Cup, fitness permitting

When you consider the fact that the SF were missing 5-6 key players, I’ll give the team an overall pass mark for this match.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 3:27am On Jun 17, 2021
I don’t know why the Americans are way FITTER than the SF.. it’s like the US team has 10x the energy of our players

TheSuperNerd:
To put it more accurately. We have actually defended better in this game. We should have had a goal if our players could switch plays quickly and find each other with good runs and openings.

Towards the end of the first half, Okeke was free on the right.. all alone. A simple unexpected switch of play via a sweet long pass would have caused serious danger for the Americans.

Our girls need to up their spatial awareness in the final third.
Very accurate on the bolded.. it’s as though the SF think all there is to attacking play is to beat the opponent on the dribble, before attempting a shot on target.
It’s really frustrating to watch

At least the Super Falcons did well in having 30% of the possession, unlike Sweden that only had 15% of the possession at half time in their game vs Spain at the Euros cheesy
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 3:09am On Jun 17, 2021
Aside from the goal, I must commend the defense line for doing a good job. The much maligned Okeke has probably played her best half in this Summer series; while Alozie’s pace has largely frustrated Rapinoe
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 3:06am On Jun 17, 2021
Even if you wanna play a low block, the midfield must still be able to hustle the opposing midfielders. For the majority of that 1st half, the midfield did nothing to protect the defense, exposing the back to incessant raids from Rapinoe, Press, Dunn and Mewis. That has to change in the 2nd half.

Moreover, the players need to be way more confident on the ball and know when to release a pass early. Too many times in that first half, the likes of Ordega, Okoronkwo and Chikwelu held onto the ball for far too long, allowing the US players to easily dispossess them off the ball. I don’t know why our players think they’re up against the likes of Sudan or Mali that would allow you to get away with such casualness on the ball.

That number 4, Ogbonna, is very useless.
She should have done much better in stopping that ball from reaching Press! I would say it was a lack of awareness of the opponent behind her that resulted in that goal

Osarenoma Igbinovia is currently with Edo Queens FC of Benin alongside the likes of Glory Ogbonna, Choima Wogu, Christy Ohaeriaku....

She Captained her club at the Pre Season tournament (Flying Officers Cup) late last year in Abuja but didn't play this season league games..

She's off for Personal reasons..
Thanks man.

I just want to see her given a chance with the SF, depending on her form.

Whatever happened to Igbinovia? I thought she was one of the potential heirs to Ayinde’s position.
We really need quality options in the DM and CM positions, because at this rate, I’m not sure whether Chikwelu will cut it for us at the 2023 World Cup (kinda the same situation with Ebi).

Anyway, I must commend the NFF for organizing at least 9 friendlies (including the September invitational tournament) in a SINGLE calendar year for the Super Falcons. I don’t think even the SE have had to play up to 4 friendlies in a year (except for WC years). The Glass House shouldn’t relent but do more of the same next year.

Just see how the American players are making passes with confidence. The SF seem to be unsure in both their touches and passes
