@ Rottweiler
You embarrass me, you embarrass yourself, you embarrass every black person who is labelled a nigger, every Arab who is labelled a terrorist, every Asian who is labelled a chink and every non-Caucasian in the west who has to put up with prejudice and abuse as a result of their skin colour or their ethnic origin. And while we're at it every Nigerian who is labelled corrupt

Legend Zizou breaks his silence
Zinedine Zidane has elaborated on the chain of events which led to his attack on Marco Materazzi during the World Cup final.

The midfield genius brought the curtain down on one of the world's great careers when seeing red for a headbutt on Materazzi.

Numerous reports have commented on what led Zidane to launch his attack on the Italian defender and the France star has claimed Materazzi insulted both his mother and his sister.

"He (Materazzi) pulled on my shirt several times and I told him that we could swap shirts at the end of the game if he wanted to," Zidane said in a live interview on French television channel Canal Plus.

"He then pronounced very tough words, words that hurt me deeply, words about my mother and my sister. At first, I tried not to listen to him but he kept repeating them,

"I knew it was my last game and I knew there were only 10 minutes to play but things happened very swiftly.

"I am a man before anything else.

"I would rather have taken a punch in the jaw than have heard that."

Zidane had kept his own counsel on Sunday's events prior to his interview on French television and he has apologised for his actions - but still feels Materazzi was the guilty party.

"I apologise to all the children who watched the match on Sunday. This was not something to do. I want to make it clear because it was watched by two billion people and by millions of kids," Zidane said.

"I want to apologise to them but I can't regret what I did because it would mean that he (Materazzi) was right to say what he said."

Zidane felt referee Horacio Elizondo was correct to send him off.

"Afterwards I explained to the referee that I had been provoked, but my behaviour is not forgivable," Zidane said.

Zidane said that he would seek to defend himself at an upcoming Fifa hearing.

"I will go and I will tell everything I have just said," he added.

"The reaction is always punished but if there is no provocation there is no reaction. The guilty person is the one who provokes.

"If I reacted that way, it is because something bad happened. Do you really believe that 10 minutes before the end of my career I would be able to make such a bad gesture? The provocation was very serious."

Some had suggested Zidane may reconsider his decision to retire so as not to end his career on such a low note, but the midfield superstar says there will no comeback.

"This is a decision I have made and I will not go back on it," he said. "This is definite. I will not play again."

I would have done worse than a head butt!!!
@ Rottweiler, how dare you call Zidane an Arab Terrorist? What's the freakin' difference between you post and whatever comment Materazzi made? We're all human and have our breaking points. If I could get to you I'd show you what that head butt felt like.
Disgraceful attitude? It's your post that's disgraceful.

this just came in less than an hour ago:

200 Feared Dead in Nigeria Oil Blast

LAGOS, Nigeria - A ruptured pipeline exploded Friday in southwestern Nigeria as villagers rushed to collect oil gushing from it and a local TV station said up to 200 people were feared dead.
Firefighters were on the scene of the explosion at Ilado, a village about 25 miles east of Nigeria's main city of Lagos, and Red Cross workers were helping survivors.

"There was a big fire and quite a number of people died," Red Cross spokeswoman Okon Umoh said without elaborating.

The blast came as villagers flocked to the ruptured conduit to scoop up fuel that was gushing out. Up to 200 may have perished in the explosion, according to Nigeria's Channels Television.

Nigeria is Africa's leading oil producer, the world's seventh-biggest exporter and fifth-biggest source of U.S. oil imports.

Thieves often steal heavily subsidized fuel from pipelines for personal use or to sell across borders where prices are higher.

In 1998, more than 1,000 villagers died when a ruptured gasoline pipeline exploded as they scavenged fuel.

The Ivory Coast secured their place in Friday's final of the African Cup of Nations after a 1-0 victory over Nigeria in Alexandria on Tuesday.

In a less-than-magical semi-final at the Harras El-Hedod stadium, Didier Drogba's 47th-minute goal exposed the Super Eagles' revival as nothing more than a false dawn.

Phones / Re: How Do I Download Pictures From My Phone To The Pc??? by pearlrocks(m): 7:22pm On Feb 07, 2006
If ur phone has the ability to send emails, u can use MSN mail, attach a photo to the message and send it to any email account including your own. First check your phone's manual for instructions on how to send a multimedia message.

An alternative is to connect your phone to your PC. To do this you'll need an infrared or bluetooth connection, a cable or a card reader. a USB cable plugs into the phone at one end and the PC at the other, while a bluetooth connector plugs into the PC and communicates with the phone wirelessly. An infrared adapter works in a similar way but uses infrared technology, while a card reader is used to read images stored on removable flash storage in your phone.

Most laptops have either bluetooth or infrared built in, if you're using a desktop, you may need to buy either a bluetooth or infrared dongle. You can buy these for as little as £12, from either www.amazon.com or www.dabs.co.uk.

Hope you find this helpful.

They've definitely got players who are capable of winning the tournament but lack the technical competence. I wouldn't bet on nigeria winning.

bati, dont take it so personal, barca's one of the best teams in europe and has been for a while, that doesnt mean they're immune from defeat by chelsea. we're undisputably the best team in england right now, have one of the best coaches in the world, have some of the best players in the world. the champions league is ours regardless of what anyone thinks. grin

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Will Chelsea Win the 2005 UEFA Champions League? by pearlrocks(m): 4:55pm On Jan 13, 2006
pie1 elect, point of correction, we chelsea fans dont compare our beloved club with arsenal. whats the basis for any comparison. we've got the premiership under our belts. c'mon arsenal was hot once but recognize that chelsea rules right now and we are here to stay. fancy arsenal losing to wigan. hmmmm, stop living on past glory, tell wenger to go and buy players or else henry will leave. grin and if he's interested in moving to chelsea, we'll make room for him, and definitely pay him better.
