Why did you come from? You epitomize wisdom and maturity. Your post is filled with wisdom. If you take beers, I would have ordered you 4 chilled bottles Heineken. thebosstrevor: customer service is good for SME, big businesses and in the ehailing business, it brings repeated businesses, also businesses also have the right to cut off services to rude customers, because they say Customers is the King does not mean a customer needs to disrespect a service provider.
Companies discriminate when providing good customers services to customers, a customer that brings more cash to a business will be treated better than a customer who brings less cash to a business, this type of treatment happens in every organisations
In the service industry e.g restaurant business, some restaurants will gladly send out a rude customer, even in football, rude customers(fans) are banned from games and club events, some are even given life time ban. in the club business, a club owner will gladly throw out a rude customer if he breaks the rules of conduct.
in as much as a customer wants good services from a business, a customer also must learn how to also show respect to a service provider. where there is no consequences people behave anyhow
For Drivers in ehailing business in Nigeria, you are not an employee of any e-hailing company but a partner, you have the right to cancel on rude rider, stop riders from eating in your car, report rude riders, decide not to communicate or communicate with riders, help or not help a rider move his or her bags, all over the world drivers do that, it is your right. Remember you have no health insurance, pension, leave, leave allowance and other perks that comes with being an employee, also know the difference between slavery and customer service because the outright Nigerian mentality is to enslave people when service is being provided to them, also learn to say NO, just because you are offering customer service does not mean you cant say No to many request from riders
There is a reason why rules in the US does not work in Nigeria because we have different culture and way of life, so i think it will be unfair to put the same standards for what works in the US to judge Nigeria, even many international companies localize how their businesses works in their country of domicile.
Nigeria is a lawless society with angry and unruly people who do not care about others, Many Nigerians are ready to manipulate and take advantage of you if you show any signs of weakness, the average Nigerian will use and destroy your self esteem just because you are offering them a service, as you become very familiar with them they turn you into house boy and house girl, before you know it they want only free services, it is advice able for drivers not to get too friendly with riders, know your boundaries and do not accept unruly behavior from riders. |

Rubbiish: How is it your concern if he decides to focus his energy on whatever that pleases him? Or u want to be his boss on nairaland for being on the same thread? Someone goes to a mall to buy a bread of less than 200 naira and thinks he or she is a boss? With this kind of mentality u can begin to imagine why we are where we are today as black nation. Often times I begin to wonder if there is a special place for Nigerians on nairaland travelling to USA? They all reason alike & their mentality is shocking to say the least. That was how one agbaya was always disturbing us in property section, wanting all the respect in the world trump wouldn't demand for, only for everyone to discover he was an empty vessel full of sh!t. U guys are worth nothing but will never allow anyone to hear word & same attitude I see reflecting in all your comments and I am wondering if there is a special place for u guys there where they tamper with your brain or inject some hard substance into u guys? There is a young man (amdman) here on nairaland, the guy has probably made most car sales than anyone on this nairaland in recent times, but the guy is one of the most civil personalities I've seen here. Doesn't brag about anything or trades insults, even when people attack him. I'm really learning from that dude. At times, those that crave for attention are empty. |

Regime clarocuzioo: Honestly speaking this administration headed by MAJOR GENERAL MUHAMMADU BUHARI is a disaster.
First of all what's the rationale of wasting money on school feeding programe when those schools are dilapidated and I'll equipped. Some animals abroad will not even stay where we call classes for learning, instead of this government to channels those funds in upgrading the learning environment for quality education, it is wasting it on school feeding program..
That is a school not a restaurant, it is a learning environment and it is meant to be made conducive for learning. Prior to the school feeding program those kids are not dieing of hunger.
From the onset that project was designed to fail as it is not sustainable.
I remember when it was launched, their online zombies headed by was all over the place making noise, now we have all come to agree that the project is not sustainable.
Then the simple question any reasonable person should ask is "what did we achieve" absolutely nothing.
Those funds would have been better if there were used to make the learning environment more conducive for our children.
Common sense is indeed not common. |

northbird: You still don't get d meaning of a partner.
In Fmcg, the trade partners are the distributors. As big as P& G is. They don't dare joke wt deir trade partners. All d way from Singa Market, Kano, Adebiyi & sons in Suleja to d Guys @ Oke Arin , Lagos.
These guys ( may look scruffy or their environment not look it) . You play with them @ ur peril.
Cos if you want to move big stuff, get ur SKU's to move like fuel. You need them
some of dese guys do 20 - 30m turnover
So dru23 go figure d meaning of partner.
No one is talking of boardroom here. OK? Leave the guy alone. He's an ignoramus to think partnership means boardroom membership. |

LOL, i remember u shared it here. My doubt is from who still accepts such offer that we still have people requesring such charge. Felicity001: Doubting Thomas don’t worry i pray you don’t fall in some situation then you’d known unimaginable things exist. Last month before I grounded my personal car I drive down to inspect and see a car owner, you know what the young man was asking in his contract? 35k weekly plus I’ll be in charge of all kinds of maintenance apart from changing of shock absorbers which will be carried out once every six months with a sharing ratio 50:50 and servicing once in two month with same ratio.
He even said his uncle is collecting 40k weekly and has some numbers of cars registered with Uber.
I just looked at the young man I laughed, gave him a handshake, entered my car and drove off.

Dressing isnt in the uber code of conduct and no rider can choose how a driver shoud dress. Who complains about some riders' indecent dressings? The service is just to take from poont A to point B. If a rider doesn't like a driver's dressing, just cancel and move on. I'm an advocate of dressing well but i dont think that is the call of riders, another driver might just decide to dress casually which a rider doesnt see as "dressing well" so should such driver be subjected to insult or foul attitudes from riders becuase he is not dressed in what is perceived as "dress well" by the rider? I agree we should all speak responsibly and that involves riders topsydee007: This issue of rider-driver relationship.
Most times before a rider will behave rudely to u..they would have accesed your dressing, countenance and the way u speak. If u dress well, speak well and have a good carriage. 98% of riders will respect u. |

Comprehension again. He meant they can't/dont treat their fellows who do ubers with disdain like that unless the immigrants due to racism or who they feel might even not have a complete paper. dru23: So because you are an immigrant you don't have rights. Or immigrants can't legally work in the USA. Or better yet if you want to do uber in the USA . You just get a car and sign up with uber, than you start driving.. But are you aware uber does background checks on all of its drivers? Do you know that you have to have a valid drivers license to drive uber. Are you aware that you need a valid social security number to do uber? If you are illegal in the country it will hard to do uber? Unless you are using somebody else documentation? Uber can still call drivers employers or workees withiut using the word "taxi drivers" but they chiose partners because in reality, the realtionship is partnership, not boss to servant relationship. dru23: You still not getting it .. dru23: So with that behavior , how many of them are still working for uber? Maybe it is ghost that drives on Uber in USA now. Every lil, people will say "go to usa" like can u eat in a driver's car in usa or be rude to him unless he allows it? Here; a rider will even place his legs on driver's arm rest and do all silly things. Butyiu 2qnt to pass it ofd with "Riders are bosses". Bosses my foot. Everyone; riders and drivers should be guided and know his boundary, and this starts from knowing Riders arent bosses to drivers but just only to be taken from point A to point B and pay. Drivers should have a decorum so also the riders. |

Are USA drivers slaves to riders? Do u even know many usa riders sont have foul attitudes as much as Nigerian ones? So u know recently that Barkley, a chelsea player, dirtied a driver's car and the car insisted on cleaning fee, when Barkley refused insisting he had nooney, he drove him to police and police took him to Atm to get the money for the driver. Does thar scenario look like 'Boss' one? Driver-Rider relationship should be with mutual respect, I undersrand it is a service company but no one is anyone's boss here. There are limits to riders and drivers. No one has the monopoly of being rude.Good day dru23: Madame Radauto, it is waste of time explaining customers service to these drivers. Most of them can't work in a customer service industry in the USA... On these matter me and you can relate .. Due to the fact not only on education level, not saying uber drivers are not educated. but been exposed internationally .. Since some unfortunately has never travel out of the shore of Nigeria .. It will be very hard for them to relate to you.... |

Drivers are partners to uber or bolt. We've already dealt with this "Drivers are employees to uber" several times. Drivers are partners and that is why they can choose to work with any platform any time. I can decide to abandon bolt or Uber for months and stick to Ocar and abandon same if i want again. Drivers arent employees to uber, at least at present. Even these platforms call them partners. Just becuase uber/bolt can remove any driver doesnt make then bosses, drivers have same priviledge to abandon any platform at anytime for another. dru23: With these your attitude, it means you can't do uber in the USA or customer service related jobs.... Uber Drivers in the USA do get similar rude customers.. But it is how you handle them that matters.... And keep in mind your presentation matters.. Just because you do uber, does not mean you shouldn't look presentable .. How you carry yourself and present yourself is how people will take you serious.... If riders are asking you to do this and that ,and those things are not inline with uber's policy.. Just let the rider know what the policy is .. There is system in place to grade riders .. Than grade them , after all they are grading you too..
PS.. A lot of drivers are in directly an employee of uber.. You an employee at will.. Meaning no contract was sign by either party....Uber can fire you at will and you can stop for them at your own will.. So everybody is slave or better yet a boss to someone.. Rider are bosses to uber, meaning if there is not enough riders.. Uber will not make money . And you as a driver will not get paid .. On that level people should play their position |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by peeps4u: 7:19am On Dec 16, 2019 |
Ger this Riders dont have monopoly of rudeness. Any rude riders deserve same treatment. If i give you a ride; you're not my boss; my services are only limited to picking u and dropping you at your destination. Respect between the driver and the rider should be mutual. If u smoke or eat or put up any foul attitude in my car, I can cancel and ask you to get out. I agree presentation matters but if a driver decides to dress as he wants, it shouldn't be any rider's problem. The driver isnt his employee or is there any code of dressing in uber? If drivers have no problem with riders' dressing, riders shouldn't also unles there is any code of dressing for drivers. dru23: With these your attitude, it means you can't do uber in the USA or customer service related jobs.... radautoworks: I will clarify. I use "boss" lightly and more as a colloquialism because that was the accusation made. What I mean is this is the service industry. Too many assumptions are made of passenger behaviors or beliefs. In the service industry you will get rude people. Expecting otherwise because "na my Moto" is an exercise in futility. Funny thing is I'm sure a lot of the people complaining treat hawkers and other small business owners much worse.
At the end of the day, unless it's a particularly egregious crime (which most I read here are not), suck it up and do the job. I've done it for years and it hasn't cost me a thing yet. Quite the opposite actually. . I get your message and I agree with you. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by peeps4u: 8:42pm On Dec 15, 2019 |
I agree with your arguement about service being rendered, but there is no boss anywhere. Riders arent bosses to drivers. Services are only rendered and paid for, no bosses anywhere. It is the "boss" mentality that makes some riders want to order drivers around like their employees. That someone renders someone services doesnt make the other a boss, so far the service provider isn't employed under him. radautoworks: .
One does not negate the other. Yes, they paid to be the boss from point A to B but even bosses have rules of decorum. It's the reason why bosses shouldn't be slapping employees. They are still in charge but are expected to behave a certain way. This is the service industry. If one cannot humble themselves and give service, they are in the wrong industry. This is the wrong industry for someone who wants to be in charge all the time. |
