I don't know how someone thinks he can decide which job is major or side hustle. They way people elevate white collar jobs and look down on other jobs which might even be more lucrative is funny. cindybaby22: @bold unfortunately it is my major source of income and it is responsible for financing all the certifications i have done. My so called career is yet to give me something tangible |

God bless this woman. Simple and precise. That you can't input a certain job in your CV doesn't make it useless. Besides, not even every job experience are applicable to a certain job. There are jobs where uber experience can be included; logistics or transport company. Just tweak the uber experience along with the job requirement. Besides, who cares about CV if you earn your money without CV? God is good, young shall grow etc started from a stage like this. That a job is blue collapse job doesn't make it useless. cindybaby22: The way you guys reason amaze me Seems it is a war against uber drivers, that is the only thing i can deduce from your post. I am an accountant, i import ladies designers & wears to sell at wholesale prices, do u think i included it in my CV? & Do u know what i make from it? So because it is not in my CV it is of no value? This is kinda funny tho lol |

You get oil for head. But let's just drop this issue of CV and uber so not to drag this thing. cindybaby22: You guys should stop making issues out of nothing & drop this CV talk. We have doctors, lecturers, lawyers practicing their respective profession, but they are investing in lands, real estate, cryptocurrency etc. Some even buy cars for uber on HP or rental. I am sure these things aren't included in their CV? Something is not included in someone's CV doesn't make it useless or non profitable. U only include things that are in line with your career & suit the job u wish to apply for in your CV, that doesn't mean u don't have other things on the side that are even more useful to u than what u have on CV. |

One's monthly salary is what another person makes in a day, but that doesn't make the other job less a job. Every side hustle is a side hustle, irrespective of how much is earned. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by peeps4u: 8:35pm On Nov 20, 2019 |
Every side hustle is a side hustle. So, no side hustle is inconsequential. Whatever legit side hustle makes one richer and supplements one's salary is welcome. Let's stop this argument, all I'm seeing here is another fight of ego brewing. nitigriti: I understand the "e-hailing as a side hustle" argument.
But what if I tell you there are better side hustles? For example, I know a guy who makes $650 every month salary from his side hustle. I can share screenshots of his Payoneer account. He writes book summaries for an European company from the comfort of his house.
I know other people in that same line of side hustle doing anything from $2,000 and above a month. Biko, press calculator, then come back let's reason if driving a cab up and down Lagos is a side hustle. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by peeps4u: 8:21pm On Nov 20, 2019 |
Actually, we get richer when we utilize every available money making avenue thereby cresting streams of income. Doing ehailing, if one has the time, to supplement one's salary is a reasonable thing to do. Having said that, drivers need to always think of future away from uber, even if it yields money today. Let's expand our horizons ndubuis: Guy, as a matter of fact, there are CEOs that do Uber outside of Nigeria. People do it for different reasons regardless of their status. You know what? I have a job and do Uber because my job gives me so much time that has been begging to be utilised. I found a way out of boredom doing this and it also puts good money in my pocket. My salary where I work has never been touched for over a year now. By the grace of God, my house would have been completed by next year because my uber hustle is helping save big bucks. So, when you say rise above the level where I will stop worrying about uber", I just don't understand what you mean. Uber makes things happen for me, therefore I get worried when that part of me is being threatened. You got a job and quit uber, some have better jobs and still do uber. That's the difference. |

Don't mind them. They wanted to cow the drivers with "how will you survive if uber leaves" to have drivers dance to their tunes like they are slaves to uber and riders. Like we said, uber, bolt, Opay and the rest aren't doing any drivers favour by coming to Nigeria, they are here to make money and they need drivers to make that money eherbal: the driver is king, bae, and bride.Ocar's entry has defeated some peeps arguement here about drivers relevance in the hailing business.nobody is going to dobale for any taxi park chairman. adsmaster: So it means drivers that tries remit 30k weekly will need to renegotiate There might not be problem if their fares are fair enough for drivers to make his on money and since Opay will complete the fair for the drivers for whatever discount given to the riders |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by peeps4u: 8:44am On Nov 20, 2019 |
nwizu042: It has been confirmed. They will operate just like uber and bolt.
OCar has one similarity with Bolt, in that it charges drivers a 15% commission while Uber maintains its 25% rate. With this, it is possible that OCar’s trip fares would fall within Bolt’s range. But there’s a higher chance that the former would include a lot of incentives, as has been the norm with sister platforms, ORide and OTrike. All these point to possibly even lower fares on OCar.
In fact, OPay claims that the 15% commission reduces to 3% after drivers have done 20 trips within the same week. This, and the ₦200 ($0.55) per trip promo, may possibly cause a massive shift of drivers and customers to the newcomer. Uber go hear am. I see them reducing their commission soon. This was what we were talking weeks ago. If one platform goes, another comes, drivers go always dey okay and make their money because any platform that doesn't favour drivers will be abandoned by the drivers and can't work without drivers which inherently means it dies in no time |

But my mind just dey flash go Idumota where cloth sellers plenty and on daily basis, each seller give thanks to God for the little she was able to sell for the day !!! It shall end in praise. If you wanted to go into ehailing before Ocar news, you can still go ahead. They're not coming with branded cars, just going to operate like uber and bolt. You may still hold on and observe though. |

Good advice. And also if he gets super craze for head like some people, he can race on with the officer in the car and threaten to drive him away. It could be dangerous though if the officer drags the steering with him nitigriti: Okay, my advice. First, that small BRT Lane has been a LASTMA trap for ages, even during Governor Ambode's time. Try to avoid it and any BRT corridor next time.
Secondly, just in case you find yourself entrapped by LASTMA or CBD officials, put on your craze cap. Lock yourself inside your car. Refuse to move. Refuse to roll down your glasses. Don't look at anyone. Don't talk to anyone. Don't explain anything to anyone. Just keep staring at your steering wheel. Last last, when they see your craze is more than their own, they will signal you to move on; which was their duty anyway.
Finally, if by your carelessness, you find LASTMA officials in your car and they tell you to drive to their office, drive away from the scene first (because you need to do private business with them). They will give you directions to their office; as you go, look for a not-so-busy place to park and discuss with them like gentlemen. See a format I used once: "Gentlemen, you don't need to take me to your office. We will just end up wasting time there. I have #5,000 I can give you guys to buy lunch and drinks. I am your brother, just take the #5,000 and let me go."
Trust me, they will collect and free you. |

I don't think they beg or apply to be anyone's role model. It's best you make yourself your children's role models. Artists or any celeb aren't moralists, they are just human beings like us and just want to live their lives as they want. You can't chain them from living their lives with "role model" things. Sorry bro. You know what, everyone defending politicians does so because he/she has not felt the pains of others. Freshprince91: Whenever i get into conversation with riders and they tell me Ambode's government was people's friendly, i tried to argue with them but what happened to me yesterday made me agree with them 100%. During Ambode's regime, most of these road charlatans were taken off the road except you beat the traffic light, take a clear cut BRT lane on the mainland or parked illegally, that is when you'll be arrested. There's a route from outer Marina that leads to TBS, i think the road is divided into 3 or so (left side with a BRT divider takes you to TBS while the middle lane with a ramp to ikoyi and Victoria island on the right. I used to ply the TBS route while i was working at the building construction because it was my fastest and convenient route to Obalende from Maryland (BRT terminal) and i do see cars, buses heading to TBS trail those BRT back then . So yesterday, after dropping off a rider at Broadstreet from Yaba , I headed for my usual spot, ikoyi, and a request came in from TBS when i got to Igbosere to connect Moloney . Called the rider, who told me she's heading to Dolphin estate, ikoyi. Perfect i said! Told her to walk through the TBS gate that I'll be waiting for her right at the exit gate, she said no, that she doesn't know her way around, told her to ask anyone, that she would be directed, she said i should come to the BRT terminal. If i had the premonition that the short 600 naira trip would cost me 20k and my entire day, may be i would have rejected it, after all i have made #4500 card trips as at 8am. Put on my map to navigate my way to TBS (BRT terminal) only for me to find myself on the small BRT divider i used to travel on. Got there and those LASTMA officials flagged me down and asked why i was on that lane and i told them, its the only way to TBS. They said ever since Sanwo-Olu came in, he enacted a bye-law that cars should stop plying the route, that it was meant for BRT alone and i was like, i am not new to this area even though i haven't been here in 6 months but that doesn't mean cars don't take this route to TBS and moreover ,the other lane were free and its not like i was in a hurry, if you guys wanted to arrest me for beating traffic. While i was talking, 2 Hilux vehicles came out from the white building under that bridge and took that same route i was nabbed for and they didn't say anything and i asked why ? They couldn't mutter a word before i could say Jack, one grabbed my key and asked me to come in or else, he would drive down to Olowu, Sura without me. I did all i could to settle the issue out of their office but those guys were not having any of my pleas. Immediately we got to their office, one of the LASTMA officer said so many unprintable words i didn't utter, so many lies that i couldn't defend. I made some calls and one LASTMA official my brother knew came through. After all said and done, he said they booked me already because i tried to prove stubborn and i told him how i pleaded and had to accept my undoing but none of them listened. Long story short, they made me path with 20k as minimum fine, they even asked me to go do photocopies of the payment slip. Immediately, i got my car, i just drove back home angered at what transpired between that morning and how i was sure cars ply that route but what can i do? This is a country where the powerful find every means to extort the commoners . I haven't been able to bring myself to work since 11am yesterday. |

I know they had this $50 million(i think) funding from investors when they started.
If I were them, I would work with NURTW and Lagos State government to see how all these scrap buses can be phased out, while I still retain the structure..
I don't think those guys will put bolt and uber on their toes. The fares will make drivers abandon them Your last statement is my thought as well. I don't know how they want to succeed when drivers abandon them. They need to know there has to be a balanced satisfaction between riders and drivers. |

Can Ocar succeed with their ridiculous low fares? Drivers will bow out soon if they are not making enough money or insist on offline trips every time which will frustrate riders.
Yesterday, some Nigerians were complaining on twitter how Obikers now insist on offline trips charging high prices like normal bikers.
Though too early to call sha. |
