herrlekan: Yes it covers both the insured and third party. The difference between comprehensive and third party only insurance is that it covers own damage that is damage to own car whether you're at fault or not your car will be repaired. Thanks |

herrlekan: If your insurance cover is a third party only insurance,it only covers the repairs of the car ran into. Mind you if the cost of repairs is more than the maximum claim you are entitled to, you will have to bear the rest. That means you will pay the balance of repairs cost.
The insurance company of the car than ran into a comprehensively insured car will still bear the loss. This is because the car that ran into the other car is at fault. Does comprehensive cover both insured and third party? Or only insured? |

If this COVID-19 originated from Africa, I'm sure all these western countries would have taken proactive measures to prevent or curtail its spread into their countries.
Nigeria, like many African countries, had chance and time to contain the spead of this virus before it escalated. Now, everyone is on lockdown now; paying the price of govt's failure to heed to our earlier cry to close borders.
This 14-day lock down is going to be tough, not forgetting many have started their lockdown last week. |

pope191: From litigation view... Who is liable in any given contract is been address by the agreement/MOU binding both parties, not just signed and sealed, but stamped and accepted by court of law.
Too many times we neglect or by ignorance forget to register under CAC before embarking on any sought of business, which I am guilty off as well. Another part is not emphatically stating the role of a guarantor in agreement clauses, if they will b liable or not in case of certain occurrences, all we just do is get two people to stand for business partner... These r part of the reasons guarantors go free when its said and done, cos they r no clause(s) indemnifying them.
A straight answer to the question
On HP: Driver is liable for any repair, accident or not, even during the period of repair, he must not stave me of my deserved dues, if he wants to use accident as an excuse... Its within my jurisdiction to get the car back and he must fix it before return. I once signed an agreement with a driver, that upon termination due to driver's inability to meet up with agreement then the car must b certified OK by blackbishop before return.
Rental: Drivers are not meant to b liable for any repair above 5k, that means the owner of the said valuable is liable to repair the car. Unless it is crystal clearly stated otherwise in the agreement that driver will b liable in case of foreseen and unforeseen event or a share factor will occur in such instances. Thanks for the reply bro. |

izzou: First and foremost, when a partner gives you a car in good condition, you're expected to take care of it, and drop it in good condition too
But life is unpredictable. In a case where the driver is involved in an accident that is clearly not his fault, I expect the driver to hold the "cause" responsible. Either they pay for the damage on the car, or you activate their third party cover(we talked about that sometime last year or two years)
But in all, if a car is comprehensively insured,it takes care of everything. There's peace of mind, and also, the partner can still discipline the driver with ease
In all, the driver is responsible for the car. So that's why as a driver
-Dont overspeed -Stop dragging lanes with cars -Keep adequate distance between you and the car in front -Learn to drive defensively -Use your senses when overtaking. -Still pray for God's protection Thanks for the reply bro |

Izzou, gentlelife50, Tojahh, pope191, shollywendy1 and all ogas I failed to mention, Incase of accident, assumed it is not the driver's fault, should the driver bear from the cost? I am curious to know.
Dru, this has nothing to do with your case as I dont know if the driver was at fault or not. So, please no name calling. |

If I was you guys I would be asking a lot of questions about 54. Also, check out 51 and 52 like I previously said about loans.
I again remind you guys I only comment on things I know. That 51 is a 3 month extension for repayment for those who collected trademoni and the likes. Anyone that didn't apply for the loan needs not bother about it. As for 54, do we have the data for vulnerable? Isnt it how they claimed poor and old were given 5k monthly, how many got it? |

Why I put up an advert looking for other car is because I hear that you want to sell the car sir and now I have so many responsibilities so the pressure and everything thinking of how I'm going to sit down at home so I said let me start looking another car I'm sorry about that sir You didn't address the issue of 2 week remittance you allegedly owe him. |

People sympathized and advised you to insure your car comprehensively
You said insurance companies in Nigeria are scammers

dru23: Again you miss my point.. Just because you have insurance does not give you authority to be careless with my property...... I will give another example, last year I got a driver via nairaland. The first day on the job he got into an accident. He called me about the accident and I told him to drop the car at the mechanic to fix ...
My mechanic called me and said looking at the damage the driver is at fault. I told the mechanic to fix the car and not release the car to driver.. Few days later driver called me and ask me if the car is ready or not ..
Few days after calling my mechanic tired ,he finally got the picture that he will no longer be wrking for me. The first day on the job he is already gotten to an accident. Does that show sign of seriousness at all Chai. This is totally off point. How does this post negate izzou's post analysing how insurance works and your lack of knowledge about insurance in Nigeria? |

Why not try and learn to safe u from this yearly complains.. Even me usually feels sorry for investors in this stage expecially when capital is involved. Im sure dru still urges his drivers to go out and drive this period. When the driver faiks to remit, he comes here to say "Nigerians are this and that". Same dru recently said a driver was owing him 100k, now another had damaged his car and still owes him 60k. Isn't it time he analyzed what is wrong? |

If he refuses to give you back the car after the virus wahala, you gotta go tough on him afterall the lockdown is a govt ordered one not your own doing. If he refuses, put him on Twitter, nairaland and every social media, I'm sure he will love the attention. A lot of people will be ready to fight for you. He cant hold on to your 100k and refuses to release the car. This is a national shutdown, not your decision. RELAX AND RETURN THE CAR.
