PoliticsRe: My New Year Prophecy For Nigeria- Dele Momodu by pendy79: 4:38pm On Jan 03, 2015
My Itsekiri brother stretched my thoughts further. He said he had asked his wife a question recently while discussing Buhari and Jonathan: “Darling, who among the two would you want to leave our kids with if we decide to travel for one week…?” The stunned wife took a deep breath before answering: “If I’ve no other person to leave them with than those two, I think I will pick Buhari. I know he might not allow them to eat too much and he may even ban them from watching their Disney channels but at least the kids will be safe and we’ll meet them at home when we come back.” C’est finis!

This sums up my support for a Buhari Presidency.
I want a President whose Body Language detests and abhor Corruption.
I want a President whose name makes civil servants up on their toes and do their duties without asking for brown envelopes first.
I want a President who will be like a "Nuhu Ribadu's EFCC" to governors of Obasanjo's second term.
I want a President who will lead with example.
I want a President who will as he say he will do.
I want a president who can secure our country from Internal and External Agression like he did against Maitastine Sect and Habre's Chadian Soldiers.
I want a President who is not concerned about the number of Private Jets in his presidential fleets.
I want a President who has control over his wife.
I want a President whose wife will not use OFFICIAL SEAL of the Federation as her emblem.
I want a President whose wife will know her role are not State duties but private personal dealings with her husband.
I want a president whose wife would not be interfering with the local politics in Rivers, Oyo, Bayelsa, Imo and other states.
I want a President who can bullshit the IMF and their VooDoo economics of destruction of Nigeria.

In all, I want a President who will Lead the CHANGE I wish to see in my COUNTRY and be the epitome of the CHANGE by his actions and his performance.

I believe he was sincere

But unfortunately things did not go as planned

My friend if you desire a strong naira, then discourage importation by encouraging local production

The best way to speed up local production is by encouraging the following

1) Resource Control

2) Fiscal Federalism

3) Privatization

4) Political Federalism

5) Decentralization of Nigeria

6) Restructuring of Nigeria

6) Institutions giving detail account of their financial/other activities to the public through their websites/panels for public scrutiny every 3months.

Which are the fastest route to

I) economic diversification,
ii) citizenry prosperity
iii) political stability
iv) reduce corruption

These 7 points are the basis of True Federalism which can help Nigeria become a Super Power and a first world Nation.

MOST IMPORTANTLY

STRENGTHENS THE NAIRA

Do you know Those who applauded and supports the Policy of Devaluation?

your Guess is right.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) in a statement issued last week lauded the position adopted by the CBN. According to the IMF mission chief in Nigeria, Mr Gene Leon, “We are supportive of and welcome these actions, which we view as complementary and moving in the right direction.

When the Babangida Administration after its coup that ousted the Buhari regime decided to take the IMF advise to take loans and credits to support the Economy despite Opposition and protests against the decision by the Populace, it took that IMF bait and since the government wasn't serious about infrastructure development that the money was supposed to be used for but it was diverted to Private Accounts and dashed out to friends of the Administration which led to massive devaluation of the Naira and the introduction of Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP).

The decision of the Babangida Administration till date has been the bane of the Nigerian Economy and the reason we find ourselves where we are today.

Same Babangida our most clueless president has called "HIS FATHER"

Is it not clear that FATHER and SON have a destiny to destroy Nigeria economically.

these are experts opinion on the Devaluation and its repercussion to the common man on the street.
“On the other hand, our imports become more expensive, which will potentially fuel imported inflation. You know, our marginal propensity to import is about 0.7 as an import dependent economy. The festive season will not also help matter as you will see the reflection or impact of the recent MPC action playing out almost immediately. Clearly, this is hard time for the common man on the street.”

The chief executive of the Financial Market Dealers Association of Nigeria, Wale Abe, who described the CBN economy salvaging move as a short term, said Nigerians should expect the full effects of the policy early next year.

“The naira devaluation may not affect the prices of the goods that are expected for December because they are already on the way here, so we may not really feel it during the festive period but the impact will be felt more by next year”, he stated.

Abe noted that purchasing power of the man on the street will drop sharply as “prices of goods and services will increase and the disposable income of the ordinary man will no longer be able to buy what it used to buy, especially imported goods.

Also speaking on the impact of the devaluation of naira on a common man, the managing director of Cap Limited, Mr David Adonri said, “Devaluation of the Naira will lead to inflation because the economy is import dependent

The Hallmark of the jonaTAN administration is the various policy flip flops and inconsistent economic policies that are a far cry from their own admission.

Juxtapose this with the Minister of Finance and coordinating Minister of the Economy changing her own Budget Benchmark for Crude from $75 to $73 to $65 in less than 3weeks. Despite her 3rd change to $65 she envisaged Crude/barrel is sold at $57/barrel as at today.

Really jonaTANism is a disease that has infected all that surrounds it with cluelessness and uselessness.
PoliticsI Won't Devalue Naira Cause It Will Hurt Helpless Consumers And Citizens-CBN GOV by pendy79(op):
An unwary Emefiele had told Senators at his screening for the top job on March 26 that he would not devalue the naira because – Nigeria as an import-dependent economy, devaluation would raise the cost of its imports and also it would hurt helpless consumers who would see the value of their income eroded -unmindful of the circumstances that will characterize his tenure.

just few months after that position:

we had this policy somersault:

Rising from the two-day meeting, the CBN took holistic monetary palliative aimed at ensuring naira exchange rate stability and forestalling the potentially dangerous impact of the falling oil prices in the international oil market on the Nigerian economy. It reduced the official naira-to-dollar exchange rate to N168/$1, forcing down the currency by N13, down from N155/$1 as the country struggles to reshape its fiscal policies in response to dwindling oil price which has taken its toll on the foreign reserves and raised the benchmark interest rate.

The monetary policy rate (MPR) was raised by 100 basis points from 12 per cent to 13 per cent, a move that will see a major increase in the cost of capital as banks increase their lending rates to reflect the change. It also increased the cash reserve ratio (CRR) for private sector deposits from 15 per cent to 20 per cent while retaining public sector CRR at 75 per cent.

Some of you just say things online without knowing what you're talking about.

Buhari was staged out in a Palace Coup and everything he had in Dodan Barracks was prevented from being taken out not even his children's cloths before he was locked up for years under house arrest.

Ngeneukwenu thanks for this video. I'm a muslim and really listening to this video brought tears to my eye.

I cried not because I'm not okay nor well to do but cried for my nation and the direction the present badluck president has brought to the nation.

I'm in UK stuck in Dover because a new vessel I and some friends raised funds to acquire, built and already crewed for a journey to Nigeria so we can register amd flag it as a Nigerian carrier is being held up in Abidjan cos we can't rub the hands of some unscrupulous people in both NPA and NIMASA to get clearance up till now two months after beginning the process.

What's the cabotage Act all about if vessel owners are frustrated and asked for unreasonable amount of money for bribe? Where's the Nigeria first in the minds of people in Government?

Making arrangement now to register it as a Turkish owned vessel now and papers are expected in few days.
My whole holiday screwed because some selfish individuals won't do their work without being bribed first. How can I pay almost a quarter of what the vessel cost to build as bribe to some silly officials?

Why do we wish this nation continue this path of destruction?

Anybody who wish a return of JonaTAN does not love Nigeria

The Nation has further been thrown into a diplomatic quagmire and a total orphan in the international circles.

If jonaTAN thinks him backing Isreal would make the US pander up to him then he is worst than the clueless that we called him.

The US knew the Palestinian State is long overdue and if it uses it VETO to stop the resolution then it will be drawn into a long battle with its MiddleEast interest hence it needs a foolish and gullible state like Nigeria to do its dirty work.

We have been a Nation that fought Apartheid and racial Discrimination in south Africa and Zimbabwe's Independence and joined up with the UN General Assembly to vote in support of UN resoulutions against Isreal's continuous colonization of Palestine. we are members of the Non Aligned Movement to show our neutrality between the WEST and RUSSIA during the era of COLD WAR.

Why the sudden change in Foreign Policy when few weeks ago we were involved in Diplomatic issues with the same USA over Military arms purchase and even called off a Training programme for our Military Personnel with them, yet we are quick to do their dirty work for them in the UN Security Council.

I pray this doesn't turn around to haunt Nigeria as a country because the USA has gotten what it needed from us and yet wont change it foreign policy towards Nigeria yet other Non Aligned Nations will see Nigeria as a sell out who chickened out on a course it has supported for over 50years on the prompting a superpower that detests it.

Same US stops abruptly it purchase of our crude making us sell our crude on credit and at cheap prices yet GEJ is azzlicking and merry-go-rounding it just to score cheap political gain from them to ease the country seemingly disdain for his Government.

PoliticsJonathan’s Government Is A Catastrophic Disaster – Tinubu by pendy79(op): 12:52pm On Dec 31, 2014
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu has described President Goodluck Jonathan’s government as a catastrophic disaster peddling voodoo statistics of illusionary growth.

He, therefore, called on Nigerians to vote it out.

Tinubu, in his New Year message, called on Nigerians not to despair despite the “pitiful conditions in which they have been forced to live by the current administration”.

He said: “We must utilise the power of our vote to take back our country from the predators and scavengers in the corridors and bedrooms of power that currently hold her hostage.

“This calls for eternal vigilance to exercise our vote and protect our sacred mandate at the polls.”

He noted that it was too easy to give in to despair and despondency at the current state of Nigeria, adding: “The gap between our tremendous potential as a country and our actual attainment is depressing and disheartening.

“For a country as endowed with human, material and natural resources as Nigeria, the level of poverty in which the vast majority of our people live is appalling and unacceptable.

“The voodoo statistics of illusory growth and progress peddled by those currently in charge of Nigeria’s affairs do not reflect the dire material circumstances of millions of Nigerians.”

The former Lagos State governor noted that the ever widening inequality between the wealthy minority and the impoverished majority was fueled largely by a scale of corruption and outright theft of public funds that had reached unprecedented heights in the country.

“All of these are responsible for the large scale manifestation of sundry forms of violence and insecurity across the country that undermines the very foundations of the Nigerian state.

“Yet, the growing impunity of an arrogant, imperious and complacent presidency weaken the rule of law and prevent the purposeful and responsible governance necessary to tackle Nigeria’s severe challenges.

“But then, despair is a luxury we can ill afford as a country and a people at this time. Despair breeds depression and a sense of hopelessness.

“This can only result in a paralysis of the popular will that will benefit those who want to lull us into collective inaction so they can perpetuate their misrule of our much abused country”, he stated.

He said that 2015 would be one of the critical and momentous years in the history of Nigeria, saying it must be a time to renew hope in the possibilities of the country.

He said: “Hope enables us to generate the strength to take the positive action as citizens to achieve the positive change Nigeria so badly needs today.”

The APC leader, however, noted that another Nigeria was possible, adding that a Nigeria where focused, visionary and competent governance vigorously tackles corruption, insecurity, poverty and promotes peace, progress and prosperity for all was attainable.

Tinubu called on Nigerians to quit thinking that their liberation would happen by chance.

He stated that the needed change would not occur by chance but as a result of a deliberate and purposeful action on the part of the people to utilise democracy and popular power to achieve national liberation and transformation.

“If not urgently addressed, the stratospheric level of hunger, deprivation and inequality in the land will inevitably provoke a violent revolution in the land.

“Indeed, we already have a situation difficult to distinguish from bloody revolution on our hand. It manifests in the armed robbery, kidnapping, communal conflicts, religious extremism, terrorism and ritual killings rampant in Nigeria today.

“We have no choice but to be active participants in the common sense democratic revolution needed to salvage our country. It is a common sense revolution that must insist that legitimate power flows from the will of the people duly expressed in free and fair elections.

“Governments must assume and remain in power only at the pleasure of the people. That is the only way that democracy can promote development by ensuring that government is responsible and accountable to the people,” he stressed.

According to him, his New Year message is simple: “This year must be one of eternal vigilance on the part of us all. This is the price we must pay for our democratic rights and liberties as citizens. Let us make no mistake about it.

“The traumatic experience of the over 200 Chibok girls who have remained in captivity for over six months shows that plaintive cries to an impotent government to ‘bring back our girls’ have become insufficient.

“Rather, we must utilise the power of our vote to ‘take back our country’ from the predators and scavengers in the corridors and bedrooms of power that currently hold her hostage. This calls for eternal vigilance to exercise our vote and protect our sacred mandate at the polls.

“As the careless, reckless, irresponsible and highly suspicious handling of the distribution of permanent voters’ cards by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has shown, every effort will be made to disempower voters by a sinking and desperate administration.

“Millions of voters across the country have been disenfranchised in the flawed process. This subtle coup against the very foundation of democracy, voters’ power, must be challenged and resisted. Flaws in the process must be corrected.

“All eligible citizens must be enabled to exercise their inalienable right to vote for a government of their choice. This can only be achieved through eternal vigilance and persistence by the populace in insisting that the entire electoral process must be free, fair, transparent and credible.”

He observed that Nigerians faced a critical choice at the polls in 2015, stating that they must vote for either continuity of the present decadent order or change.

“Yes, many state governments across the country have performed creditably in diverse sectors despite the meagre resources at their disposal compared to the federal government.

“However, the PDP-controlled federal government, which controls the bulk of the country’s resources, has been an abysmal failure. It has failed to provide the necessary leadership for accelerated national development commensurate with its immense resources and its phenomenal powers under the present corruption. The Dr Goodluck Jonathan presidency in particular has been a catastrophic disaster.

“The country today has degenerated to unprecedented levels of global obloquy as a result of the prevalent repellent levels of corruption, impunity, insecurity and leadership mediocrity.

“The greatest need of the hour is a drastic change of direction at the national level. It is the emergence of a visionary, responsible, patriotic, purposeful and competent federal government that will diligently pursue the path of transparency, accountability, respect for the rule of law, true federalism and justice without which there can be no national transformation.

“As I wish the good people of Nigeria a happy new year, I urge us to rededicate ourselves to the realisation of the positive change on which the very survival of the country depends. Eternal vigilance must be our watchword this year”, Tinubu said.

PoliticsLagos State Government Blasts Vice President Sambo Over Alleged Heavy Tax by pendy79(op): 2:45pm On Dec 30, 2014
Lagos State government yesterday came down hard on Vice President Namadi Sambo over his comments during his recent visit to the state that people were leaving Lagos in droves as a consequence of heavy taxation imposed by the state government.

The state government in a statement signed by the special adviser to the governor on information and strategy, Mr Raji Lateef, said the Peoples Democratic Party-led federal government which Sambo is part of should be pitied for lack of viable message for the people of Lagos during the visit to the state.

The state government said, “For whatever it is worth, Arc Namadi Sambo deserves to be pitied. If his itinerary coming on this trip in an election year had included the inspection, not even commissioning, of any ongoing ambitious programmes or projects initiated by the federal government for the good of the people of Lagos State, he might have been better preoccupied and avoided the gaffe.

“It will be good to share with him and his fellows a simple narrative of what was done differently in Lagos State. It is never too late to learn.”

The government said it realised long ago that the state, with its enormous social and economic potential, cannot continue to depend on the allocation from the Federation Accounts if it must deliver on the popular expectations.

“Measures were then introduced to drive efficiency in the tax assessment and collection regimes by effectively plugging loopholes and leakages in the system. The result was the leap in the revenue accruable to the coffers of the state government.

“With this enhanced revenue profile, the government embarked on ambitious infrastructure upgrades to meet the critical areas of need like never experienced before. At any given time, not less than 200 roads, not leaving out those of the federal government, are being executed.”

“The Lagos State government is not just “doing it” on the tube and the press; the testimonials abound all over the state for the people to see, feel and put to use.

“Without doubt, Sambo himself would have, during this visit, marveled at the new look of Lagos even if he moved around all of his time in the city flying a helicopter.”

The state that prides itself as Center of Excellence pointed out that the confidence level reposed in the government by the residents appreciated significantly as the people keyed into the system voluntarily bringing down the cost of tax administration and enforcement.

“The lesson for the Federal Government in all of these is that if the Presidency can summon the will power to rein in its members and ensure that oil receipts and accruals from other revenue heads are properly accounted for and remitted to the Federation Accounts, Nigeria would be better and the citizens would be happy.

“If the Federal Government had avoided situations where individuals present claims in billions of hard-earned money spent on hotel accommodation, air travels and all other such excesses in diversion of public funds, the Nigerian economy will not be in the sorry state it is today and we would all have been better for it.

“Nigerians would have been better secured and the people would feel the presence of government even in the remotest part of the country.”

They noted that though the Vice President is not known for courting controversies, but as a junior partner in Nigeria’s uninspiring Presidency, he cannot but speak during public engagements.

According to the government,” Rather than join the gabby gang in Abuja, simple greetings and a few compliments will do instead of making non-residential claims that are lacking in facts.

“If it is anything to do with Lagos the State Government will readily avail him of accurate data that could assist him to make informed deductions.”

They added that, “History will not forgive them for running a full course of four-year Presidency without any legacy. If they lack the capacity to contend with other complex challenges confronting the nation, they do not have to be geniuses to plant a block of classroom or a pediatric ward in each of Nigeria’s public primary schools or general hospitals in the remaining five months of their tenure to at least appease yet impressionable children.”
