More than nine years after the death of the wife of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, Stella Obasanjo, the former Head of State has made a shocking revelation.

It would be recalled that the late first lady died on 23 October, 2005, in a botched tummy tuck –elective liposuction –procedure in Spain. The surgery was scheduled towards the commemoration of her 60th birthday.

Speaking on the tragic incident in his autobiography, My Watch, which was released on 8 December, 2014, Obasanjo stated that he had no knowledge of his late wife’s plan to undergo the cosmetic procedure that led to her death.

“After the internment, I decided to look into the circumstances of her death,” Mr. Obasanjo wrote on page 240 of Volume two of the book.

“I found that part of her 60th birthday anniversary,which was unknown to me, was her operation for her tummy and her shape.”

Commenting on the rumour that Stella’s death may have been a “sacrifice” he carried out for success in his job, the former president said: “Before the verdict in Spain, I was unaware of what I came to hear later that I might have caused the death of my wife to sacrifice her for success in my job.

“That is how wicked and satanic some Nigerians can be in their rumours and mischief.”

Obasanjo also narrated how with the help of the Nigerian Embassy in Spain and the Spanish authorities, he got justice for his wife’s death.

“I instructed that the doctor and the clinic be prosecuted,” he said.

“The lost life cannot be brought back but the successful prosecution would prevent carelessness and loss of life in the future.”

The doctor, according to the former president, was made to pay damages, which was collected by Olu Obasanjo, Stella’s son, and his licence withdrawn for a period of time.

Obasanjo was however full of praises for his wife, whom he married in 1976, four years after the formal dissolution of his first marriage.

He commended her for handling the confrontations she had with his first wife, Remi, with maturity, for accepting children he had with other women as her own, and for campaigning for his release while he was in jail as well as supporting him during his presidency.

Obasanjo said shortly before her death, Stella, who was Roman Catholic, ensured that her marriage was blessed by the church in a small private ceremony at the Aso Villa conducted by Mathew Kukah, now the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese.

According to Obasanjo, after the ceremony, his late wife thanked him and said, “You have relieved me.”

It would be recalled that Obasanjo’s book was met with criticism following its publication and launch inspite of an injunction by an Abuja High Court stopping the public presentation of the book over claims the three volume series contained details of a libel case already before another court.

The case involves a drug trafficking allegation by the former president against a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Buruji Kashamu.

On Wednesday, Justice Valentine Ashi found Obasanjo guilty of contempt, after he defied his directive barring him from releasing the book.

The launch of the three-volume book was stopped by a court injunction secured by a former friend of Obasanjo, Prince Buruji Kashamu on Friday, December 5th, but lawyers to Chief Obasanjo advised him to go ahead with the launch.

Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Wednesday, ordered the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to maintain the status quo on the contentious gubernatorial primaries held in Lagos over a week ago, in which Mr Jimi Agabaje emerged the party’s candidate for the 2015 governorship poll.

The court has, however, fixed December 23 for the INEC and PDP to appear before it and, as such, forbade Agbaje, the acclaimed winner, to stop parading himself as the party’s candidate until the suit before it was heard.

Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, a governorship aspirant on Lagos PDP platform, had pleaded with the court to compel the party not to accept the result of the primaries held on December 8, due to the alleged over-voting at the exercise.

A total of 806 accredited voters were announced at the commencement of voting, but 866 delegates later voted.

The former minister also asked the court not to recognise Agbaje because, according to him, he joined the party barely six months ago and, as such, was morally unfit to contest for governorship, since the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party had not given him a waiver.

Other issue in contention before the court was that the leader of the party in Lagos, Chief Olabode George, allegedly came with thugs to scare accredited voters loyal to Obanikoro away from the venue.

Obanikoro, in his prayer, is seeking for outright cancellation of the exercise and a rerun at a date to be fixed.

Who single handedly bought and sold it to Lagos government.

The 5 Igbokwe mentioned were built owned and operated by the Lagos state Government. They are mini power plants serving some specific industrial areas, state secretariat, water generating/pumping stations etc.

The ijora power station is in comatose.state. the one the lagos.state government bought is the Egbin Thermal and Gas power station. They had to use a front when it was obvious the Federal Government didn't.want.to.sell it to the state unlike the one in Calabar sold to the Akwa-ibom state government and crossrivers state etc.

Tinubu almost completed the Enron power project in 2002 until OBJ said the power generated will be shared on.the National grid which Tinubu refused, that if it won't be retained in Lagos for lagosians then it is not gonna happen. The Enron project would have made Lagos left the other part of Nigeria behind since 2003 interms of power independence.

Is it not stupidity and uselessness of the highest order when a selfish, rogueish and senile ogunlewe who is from Igbogbo in my ikorodu local government of lagos state as minister of works under obasanjo gave contract for the dualisation of the Ikorodu - Shagamu road did the road from the ikorodu garage and it finished coincidentally infront of his CLUBHOUSE Oriwu Club. A less than 6% job done on said road yet today he wants to help lagos produce a governor. Ogunlewe will not and cannot win his ward in Igbogbo.

If lagos state knowing the politics of hatred and childishness of the PDP used a front to buy a power plant in Egbin and then it got the deal done and it was reverted to the true owners then give it to the eggheads in.the lagos state government and the APC.
