Some people had sworn that the whole of South South is in the bag already for Tinubu. Massive shock awaits all of you.
A media aide to Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has resigned his appointment as special assistant on new media, amid indications that he may be aligning with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The aide, Patrick Spiff, announced his resignation in a letter dated 29 May and addressed to the governor. The Office of the Secretary received the letter from the State Government on 1 June.
“I am writing to formally resign my position as special assistant to the Governor of Bayelsa State on New Media.
“I appreciate the opportunities, experience and support I have received during my time with the (state) government. It has contributed greatly to my professional growth, and I am grateful for the knowledge and skills I have gained,” he wrote.
Although Mr Spiff offered no explanation for his departure, his recent social media activities suggest he may have resigned to focus on the NDC.
A review of his Facebook page shows that he openly promoted the NDC while still serving in Mr Diri’s administration.
His profile picture shows him wearing an NDC-branded T-shirt, while several posts predicted the party’s electoral victories in Bayelsa.
On 26 May, he wrote: “There is nothing those in Creek Haven can do. NDC will produce the next governor of Bayelsa State.
The reference to “Creek Haven” is widely understood to be the Bayelsa governor’s official residence.
In another post, he declared: “There are no two ways about it. NDC will win the Senate and the Reps in the West. NDC will win the Senate and the Reps in Central.
NDC will win the Senate in the East. It will be a walkover in favour of NDC.”
Earlier, on 14 May, he wrote: “To play opposition politics is too sweet. Everything is flowing well.
“Nobody can cage you. If you feel like I’m lying, just join NDC and confirm it.
The posts have fuelled speculation that Mr Spiff had distanced himself politically from the governor’s camp long before formally resigning.
Political realignment
Mr Spiff’s resignation comes amid shifting political loyalties in Bayelsa. The state, long regarded as a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stronghold, witnessed a major political shake-up after Governor Diri defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) last year.
His predecessor and long-time ally, and Bayelsa West Senator Seriake Dickson, declined to join the APC. Instead, he founded the NDC, positioning it as an alternative political platform.
The party has gained increased attention following the decision of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to join its ranks and secure the presidential ticket of the party ahead of the 2027 election.
Although Mr Spiff has not linked his resignation to partisan politics, but his public endorsement of the NDC while serving in government has intensified speculation about his future political plans.
I said it that that Delta governor’s interview was a betrayal of the fear in him.
Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, on Wednesday, revealed the presidential candidate he will support in 2027.
Omo-Agege disclosed that he would support the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Featuring on Arise Television’s Morning Show, he said Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s followers are afraid of him, hence spreading false rumour about him.
Stressing that he is a loyal party man, Omo-Agege said the governor’s supporters are afraid of what he would do during the 2027 governorship election.
He recalled how he supported President Bola Tinubu when he was a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and would replicate the same as a member of NDC.
According to Omo-Agege: “Peter Obi is my presidential candidate for the 2027, I have endorsed him. I’m a political animal and when I was in APC I gave my all but now I’m in NDC, take it to the bank that my loyalty to the party stands.
“If you believe I lost the NDC primary, then I have a plot of land to sell to you, I won the primaries. Sheriff’s e-rat are afraid of me and they are scared of what I will do to them at the elections.”
Bentacur007: They are getting wiser day by day People go wise well well for this coming election
If Nigerians truly start rejecting rice from Tinubu and APC then it’s game over for them because they have nothing much else left to offer apart from buying votes.
How I wish we can do something to educate vast Nigerians against vote buying.
Now that people have gotten wise and started rejecting APC rice, what will they share now?
Families of pupils and teachers abducted by bandits in Oyo State have rejected rice and cash brought by government officials, insisting that their priority was the safe return of their loved ones, a community leader has revealed.
The Baale of Yawota, Emmanuel Alade, recounted the community’s reaction during an interview with News Central on Monday while describing the events surrounding the abduction that occurred in the Orire Local Government Area of the state.
According to Alade, government representatives who visited the affected communities to sympathise with residents were turned away when they offered relief materials and money.
“When the government officials came, they came with rice and money, but the parents rejected it,” he said.
“The women who are government officials on Governor Seyi Makinde’s team came to console us. They brought rice and money, but the parents said they did not want it. They said what they wanted was for their children to be released.”
Alade also recounted how the attack unfolded, saying he saw unfamiliar individuals pass through the area shortly before gunshots rang out across the community.
“On the day the incident happened, I was sitting here when I saw them pass by, but I did not know them. Not long after, we started hearing gunshots. People said bandits had entered the community and everyone ran away,” he said.
“The person who went to meet them was killed, and that was how the students were taken away. Little children were abducted while the gunmen kept shooting.”
He added that community members later reported the incident to the police, who subsequently visited the area.
The revelation comes amid a series of high-profile visits by state and federal government officials to the affected communities as efforts continue to secure the release of the abductees.
Governor Seyi Makinde had on Saturday met with families of the kidnapped pupils and staff members at Ahoro-Esiele community, assuring them that security agencies were working tirelessly to rescue the victims.
The governor said his administration had intensified security meetings and operations since the incident occurred and vowed that all abductees would be brought home safely.
The following day, a federal government delegation led by the chief of staff to the president, Femi Gbajabiamila, visited Esiele and Yawota communities on the directive of President Bola Tinubu.
The delegation, which included National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, assured residents that every available resource was being deployed to secure the release of the victims.
The mass abduction, which occurred more than two weeks ago, has heightened fears among residents and renewed concerns over security in communities located along Oyo State’s border areas.
helinues: Btw, if not that you are trying to be as usual mischievous, the said thread that claimed Obi/Kwankwanso's ticket was burnt, you ignored it but referencing to another thread entirely
Fekumzi123: This small thing dey pain you. Don't allow it to pain you oooo. Any poster can be burnt anywhere just like we have party members anywhere. Burning Obi poster in Kano shouldn't be much of a surprise nah, their number one citizen is APC for crying out loud. Ha
I wouldn’t have had issues if it was genuine.
My grouse is that this is concocted by by people who can’t even show their faces
I saw this earlier thread of supposed Kano residents burning Obi/Kwankwaso posters in Kano. But a look at the video only shows a single poster being burnt with camera focused only on the ground. No faces nor surroundings were shown.
And thence is my question: how did the poster verify that that burning happened in Kano?
And if indeed it happened in Kano, how are we sure it’s not some hirelings that were given stipends to burn a poster and record the video for propaganda?
So, if I stay in one street in Ketu, Lagos, and burn the poster of Tinubu and Shettima and post it online and claim people are burning Tinubu posters in Enugu, without even having the confidence to even show my face, Nairaland management will accept it as authentic and push it to front page without verification?
I was thinking helinues and his fellow data boys would have sponsored a governorship candidate against Otti since they keep claiming he’s not doing anything.
Even Benjamin Kalu realized that not even rigging nor the courts can help him and he abandoned his foolery.
God bless Otti!
God bless Nnenna Oti!
God bless Abia State, a people He finally remembered and liberated in 2023.
fergie001: Peter Lifu James Omotosho Joyce Abulmallik Ekwo - now suspended
They have about 9 Judges there but any political case(s) that the man has an interest, goes to the three.
These ones na it's gone! Higher Courts will quash the case in favour of Mark. It's a bad case for Nafiu ab initio. The fact he was in the NEC meeting and signed in attendance says it all, just forget the trial Court and look up to the higher Courts.
I believe all those who blamed Obi for defecting to NDC can now understand it.
First, Atiku would still have won the ADC ticket.
Second, if by any chance Obi had won it, so this is what he would be dealing with instead of focusing on campaigns.
By the time the matter gets to Appeal and Supreme Courts, Atiku’s camp must have been disoriented by confusion.
ADC must make sure Lifu doesn't handle that suit otherwise it's gone!
Ahhh! I used to think Justice Lifu is one of the good few.
Ordinarily, I would want the case to go against David Mark camp because that would eliminate Atiku and throw the North open for Obi and Tinubu, but I’m not gonna support injustice because it will favour me.
The truth is that you can’t have somebody as formidable as Kwankwaso and you will render him as useless as Shettima currently is in Tinubu government.
So, the north knows they will be getting a better deal with Kwankwaso as Vice President than the disaster they currently have in Shettima and his Balablu.
Tareq1105: No one can defeat Obi on social media. They have data boys everywhere with a well coordinated platforms. However, this election will not be won on social media. Most of us Tinubu APC do ignore you guys on social media but we have our say too and we shall speak loudly at the appropriate time.
Yeah! The way you spoke in 2023 that INEC switched off the IREV to conjure numbers for Tinubu?
You lots called us 4 people tweeting in a room until you were shocked.
naptu2: That's the source of one of the current controversies. The NDC asked aspirants to pay millions as development fees. Those that could pay became candidates and those that couldn't remained aspirants.
Some people are complaining, but it's not easy to fund and run a political party.
This is mere marketplace gossip.
No aspirant has come out to admit the party charged them any such fee.
For those who are planning and hoping to repeat the 2023 “snatch and run” election tactics.
NDC’s New Election Strategy Sparks Debate as Pat Utomi Announces Independent Result Transmission Plan:
Prof. Pat Utomi says the NDC is preparing its own independent election result transmission system ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, election results from polling units across Nigeria will be transmitted live and monitored globally through major international media platforms, including CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, Fox News, and credible Nigerian news outlets.
Utomi also revealed that the party plans to deploy a strong network of polling unit agents nationwide to ensure votes are protected and election officials are not subjected to intimidation.
pdppower: Obidients no longer see Kwankwaso as a terrorist any longer because he is now in their camp. it is now glaring that they only see the devil in whoever does not fabour their "Messiah".
Sing another song…
Shebi you lots were swearing that “Kwankwaso will never deputize Obi.”?
Watch moment Peter Obi announced the former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as his presidential running mate for the 2027 general elections on the NDC platform after he (Peter Obi) was affirmed as the Presidential Candidate.
dequir: Keep on mocking us in our present predicament, we have the thick skin to absorb it. Bring all the foulest imprecations to shame us because our son's head was cut off in the bush by the demons from the pit of gehenna, it is your time to shine, shine on.
But my question is when did our voting rights become the determinant of terrorism in Nigeria, which has been plaguing the nation since 2011?
And going further, what gave you and Peter the assurance that when we support your townsman in politics to rule over us, the terrorism will suddenly disappear?
Therefore, continue to mock us, this one will also pass. And when we cross to the other side, we know who to trust, and who to be decisively pushed out of our optic.
Did my townsman promise to end the terrorism or not?
CorperKola: It is a mockery plain and simple Nobody blamed the chibok girls for their own kidnapping or Jonathan being president at the time You can hold government accountable or bring attention to govwrnment failings in a decent and humane way
ekitimanalways: Security is government’s primary duty—no argument there. But using kidnapping victims’ photos to say 'see what your vote caused' isn’t accountability; it’s political ammunition. The same logic would’ve called BBOG a 'mockery' of Chibok girls. You can demand better without weaponizing tragedy.
What people like you don’t get is that not every Yoruba person is a fan of Tinubu or happy with the way he's running Nigeria. You said, and I quote: "We had a different candidate who really focused on how he was going to end insecurity and make sure every part of Nigeria is accounted for, but you dismissed him and went for someone who didn’t even say what he’d do differently from the Buhari administration when it comes to insecurity." So my question is—who exactly was that different candidate?
If you don’t know the answer to your question then I can’t help you.
Because you are either completely ignorant or deliberately being dishonest to yourself.
