PoliticsRe: Rabiu Kwankwaso In Talks to join ADC - ThisDay by Penguin2: 11:16am On Jan 03
Lol!

Agbadorians will find themselves in intensive care units today 🤣.

With this, it means Obi/Kwankwaso is still a possibility in 2027.

Kwankwaso must have realized his foolishness in 2023 by refusing to be running mate to Peter Obi and is ready to grab it with his 2 arms this time around.

Alternatively, this could be the Kwankwasiyya Movement splitting themselves into two. One in APC and the other in ADC. So that whichever side that wins, they will be good. Just my thoughts.
PoliticsRe: INEC Chairman Assures Nigerians Of Credible 2027 Polls by Penguin2: 6:24am On Jan 03
You mean the man that supervised Anambra election?

The man that has refused to recognize PDP’s valid primaries in Ekiti because of Wike?

I’d rather jump into the Atlantic than ever believe anything from INEC.

They should just know that in 2027, Nigerians will no longer hear “go to court.”
PoliticsRe: Dele Momodu Calls Utomi "Undemocratic" For Ruling Out Obi As VP Candidate by Penguin2: 6:21am On Jan 03
I don’t like Tinubu but the south must complete its 8 years.

If the north is truly tired of Tinubu, let them support Peter Obi.

And if they insist that they can’t convince their people to vote Peter Obi then let Tinubu simply finish his 8 years make Obi rest.

As southerners, we need to stop letting these guys use our heads and be more politically smart and selfish.
PoliticsRe: The Quiet Explosion In State Budgets Nigerians Aren’t Talking About by Penguin2: 6:16am On Jan 03
teepain:
You have spoken well. One of the challenges that I perceive in most Nigerian social commentaries is that many people lack objectivity due to their partisanship. So, inevitably they do not care whether their governor is doing enough or not as long as he or she was the one they supported. But we must be able to hold all elected officials to account regardless of political or tribal affiliations.
You are right.

And this is not me being tribalistic but I think the Igbos are better when it comes to holding their governors accountable.

Everyday you see insults be hurled at Uzodimma or Soludo for not performing well enough which puts them on their toes to do better.

But I don’t see similar energy from Yorubas nor Northerners.

For the Yorubas, once the governor is supporting Tinubu, then he’s doing well.

We need to change that culture.
PoliticsRe: The Quiet Explosion In State Budgets Nigerians Aren’t Talking About by Penguin2: 7:42am On Jan 02
Nicklee:
This topic surfaced briefly but didn’t get the attention it deserved. I’d like to bring it back to the forefront.

Using Lagos State as a reference:
Budget in 2000: ₦40B
NGN/USD exchange rate: ₦105/$
Budget in USD: ~$380M

Budget in 2026: ₦4.237T
NGN/USD exchange rate: ₦1,450/$
Budget in USD: ~$2.93B

In USD terms (excluding US CPI inflation), Lagos State’s budget has structurally grown by nearly 8× from 2000 to 2026.

Now let’s look at Enugu State:
Budget in 2000: ₦13B
NGN/USD exchange rate: ₦105/$
Budget in USD: ~$125M

Budget in 2026: ₦1.62T
NGN/USD exchange rate: ₦1,450/$
Budget in USD: ~$1.12B

Again, in USD terms (excluding US CPI inflation), Enugu State’s budget has grown by roughly 9× between 2000 and 2026.

A significant portion of this growth has occurred from 2023 to now, driven largely by:

1. FX unification and a more market-reflective exchange rate
2. Increased allocations to states following fuel subsidy removal
3. An expanded federal revenue base, with higher downstream transfers to states

Questions for Nigerians (You and I)

1) Governors now control materially more resources on a structural basis. Where is the corresponding accountability? It is time to more aggressively demand results at the state level.

2) There has clearly been a rotation of resources, away from federal subsidies (fuel, electricity, FX defense) toward direct fiscal capacity at the federal and state levels.
a) Do we want these resources returned to citizens via subsidies?
b) Or routed through states and governors, ultimately returning to citizens through infrastructure, services, and long-term development?

Either path has implications, but pretending nothing has changed is no longer intellectually honest. Until we answer these questions and enforce real accountability at the state level, the sheer growth in budgets will not automatically translate into better living conditions.

Let’s discuss
I like this topic. And it’s because you didn’t post it to support anyone but to state facts as they currently are and what we need to next.

I’ve always said I support the removal of subsidy whether rightly or wrongly removed, and I don’t want it back.

But we seem to be failing in demanding accountability for where the saved resources is being channeled to which in this case is the state governments.

One of the reorientation that needs to happen in Nigeria is how to get citizens to take their eyes off Abuja sometimes and question what their governors are doing at state level.

What do the governors have to show for the increase in allocation? Because apart from governors like Otti, Mbah, others are just paying salaries and nothing more.

It’s not about quoting trillions in their budgets, do those funds trickle down to the common man in the streets?

If he becomes Atiku’s running mate and they win, that’s 4(8} years Vice Presidency and 8 years of presidency.

It was also Tinubu fault when INEC disqualified APC candidates in about 2 states in 2020? Zamfara was one of them if my memory serves me right. Back then people like you though it was good and were happy. Now you are crying and wailing about issues that doesn't concern you and I'm sure you are clueless of.
In both cases (Rivers and Zamfara), there were court orders to that effect (up to the Supreme Court).

On what grounds is INEC excluding PDP candidate now?
PoliticsRe: Ekiti Poll: We will challenge INEC Over Exclusion Of Our Candidate - PDP by Penguin2: 9:53am On Dec 31, 2025
fergie001:
So surprised Amupitan is toeing this path.
There is a judgement decided by the Appeal Court on 17th October in a similar case, that INEC is going this route again in the face of a judgement with four legs as in the SDP case is worrying.
And to think the guy is a SAN.

Recall that that Ekiti primaries happened before the Ibadan Convention. And the letter inviting INEC to the exercise was duly signed by both Damagum and Anyanwu who were both recognized by INEC then.

Even when the Wike group tried to change the date of that primaries, INEC called their attention to a valid letter of invitation that had previously been transmitted to the commission. You remember?

So, one now wonders on what grounds they are excluding a candidate that emerged from that exercise.

Nothing really concern me with Gumi who is engaging in the last kick of a dying horse since Trump has forever ended their Jihad.

My own na how did Tinubu supporters turnaround to start supporting and defending US airstrikes that they previously called us enemies of Nigeria for supporting?

It goes to show that they don’t have a mind of their own but only eats whatever Tinubu feeds them.

Contrast that with Obidients who are the ones even setting agenda for Peter Obi most of the time. We have a mind of our own and are consistent in our line of thinking.

As for Gumi, he’s running his mouth because we don’t have a president. The day we have a president, he’d be invited to come and say what he knows.

Until then, let him continue to engage in the last kick of a dying.

PoliticsIf Peter Obi Tells You The Party He’d Contest, What Would You Do With The Info? by Penguin2(op): 8:53am On Dec 23, 2025
There’s been a lot of talks of Obi is being indecisive, Obi is not letting his Supporters know where he stands, Obi this, Obi that.

But the question is, what do you need where Obi stands for?

If you are Obi supporter, if he tells you where stands, would you buy nomination form for him? Or what would you do with it? Shebi our own is prepare to troop out on Election Day and vote on whichever platform that has Obi on it?

If you are Obi’s traducer, what do you need where stands for? You want to create schism there also like your paymasters created in LP, PDP, and in virtually all Political Parties?

The reality is that Obi will not approach 2027 with same strategy with which he approached 2023.

In 2023, he was open with everything.

In 2027, he’d come with Silence, Surprise and Precision.

So, stop asking for Obi’s platform and just wait and be entertained.

PoliticsPeter Obi Criticizes Tinubu’s New Loan Request. by Penguin2(op): 6:24am On Dec 13, 2025
Mr Peter Obi has criticized Tinubu’s request to borrow 20trillion naira to finance the 2026 budget while the federal government is still implementing 2024 budget.

According to Mr Obi, the Federal Government has not touched the 2025 budget at all.

He equally questions the rationale behind the borrowing when government announced that they had met their revenue target as far back as in August. So, where’s the money?
Today, Nigerians woke up again to the troubling news that the Federal Government is planning to borrow about ₦20 trillion in new loans to finance the 2026 budget. This is at a time when debt servicing alone is projected to gulp nearly half of our national revenue, and when our borrowing requirement has surged by over 72%.

At a time when Nigerians are struggling under unprecedented hardship, insecurity, and unemployment, we must ask the most important and logical questions: Where is the revenue from 2025?

How can we be discussing trillions in new borrowing for 2026 when we are still implementing the 2024 budget? One is genuinely worried. This suggests, very clearly, that the 2025 budget is still untouched and unimplemented.

So, where are all the revenues that accrued in 2025, even when we were told that we had surpassed the revenue targets since August?

It is time for us to stop this fiscal rascality, especially with uncontrolled and unexplained borrowing that is not being invested in the productive sectors of our nation, but instead ends up in consumption.

We cannot keep mortgaging the future of our children through thoughtless borrowing.
We cannot continue this way.

For years, I have consistently maintained that Nigeria cannot borrow its way into prosperity. Nations do not develop by consuming more than they produce. They develop by producing, exporting, and creating value, while building strong institutions that ensure accountability and efficient use of public funds.

We cannot tell Nigerians that revenue is increasing while simultaneously increasing borrowing to ridiculous historic levels. Governance must be built on transparency, not propaganda.

We cannot build a new Nigeria on the foundation of misleading figures, rising debts, shrinking production, and continuous hardship.
Our nation must move forward.

A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Peter Obi is a great asset.
Obi is not just a heavyweight, he’s a political party on his own.

The reason nobody send ADC again is because Obi seems to have been distant from it.

If the ADC is serious then they should zone their ticket to the south.

In fact, if they are serious about winning power, they anoint Obi as their presidential candidate by consensus and stop telling Obi to come and contest their kind of primaries with them.

In 2027, it’s Peter Obi or let Tinubu continue.

We shouldn’t let the north play their stupid game on our head.

These are countries that used to catch cold when Nigeria sneezes.

Just yesterday, Burkina Faso declared it arrested Nigerian soldiers that landed in its territory. I swear to you that such a thing would not have been imagined by Burkina Faso under an Obasanjo, Yaradua or even Jonathan presidency.

Now, ordinary Niger is going to be subjecting our citizens to the stress of offloading their trucks at the border everytime they pass.

All these because we allowed an ijiot foist himself on us.
