And again..

Now that we are already within the active calendar of the 2027 general election, and the process of the 2027 general election has already kick-started, then the outcome of 2023 election can no longer be used to de-register any party, since all the parties are now undergoing the preparations for the 2027 general election.

Nevertheless, there is every possibility that the suit was initiated at a time when the process for the 2027 general election has not started..
But even at that, the suit naturally should have been taken over by events.
They are just insistent on killing opposition and Justice Lifu is their willing tool.

Na NJC I just dey watch.

A very puerile body
You expect NJC that is in Tinubu and Wike’s pocket to discipline Lifu?

Meanwhile, I think I know why he did not give judgement on the matter today as initially scheduled.

If he gave judgement today, ADC would have merged it with yesterday own and file a consolidated appeal which would have fastracked the two cases.

But in delaying judgement in this case, by the time Appeal Court might be giving some relief to ADC regarding deregisteration, he would likely hit them with handing over the party to Gombe Bala which would become an entirely new round of court circus again.

Lifu has removed all veil of pretense.

Big lie

The Wikipedia page you want to use as reference was edited in late May of this year, a few weeks before the court pronounced it's final ruling.

Why didn't ADC provide proof that they met the minimum performance threshold with this your claim?
So you are saying ADC didn’t win House of Representatives seats in 2023?
PoliticsRe: Position Of The Electoral Act On Deregistration Of Political Parties by Penguin2: 1:11pm On Jun 16
amaridigital:
They must all the requirements listed in that section of the constitution not only LGA or House of Assembly seat alone. The law doesn't give them the option of only one.

Read again:

INEC may deregister a party if it fails to win:

• Presidential election: At least 25% of votes cast in one state of the federation •

Governorship election: At least 25% of votes cast in one local government area of a state •

Chairmanship election: At least one ward •

Legislative elections: At least one seat in the National Assembly or State House of Assembly

• Councillorship election: At least one seat
So, you’re telling me that if a party satisfies all other requirements and doesn’t win a councilorship seat then it should be deregistered?

Per the bolded, that's one requirement out of 5 that they are apparently meant to meet.

You guys should read the judgement yourselves rather than listen to someone else that doesn't know what they are, saying.
They are not required to meet all, just one of those requirements is enough.

Read the constitution.

ADC won 2 House of Representatives in 2023.

ZLP won 15 LG seats in Abia.

APP won all the LG seats in Rivers in 2024.

So, on what basis were they ordered to be deregistered?

fergie001:
Nit that.
He has made a fool of himself as usual.
He is the one handling Bala Gombe vs Mark... ADC has said they don't want him, yet he fixed judgement tomorrow.

Again, to show he is fooling himself, ZLP won 15 Chairmanship seats in Abia
ADC won two Reps seats in 2023, APP won seats in Rivers before the SC judgement. Accord has reps....

Not just that, Adeleke wanted to join the suit, he declined that since his party is already a defendant, no need. This is contrary to the judgement of the Supreme Court in Eyitayo Jegede Vs Akeredolu, APC & Ors. Adeleke is an interested Party yet Lifu rejected it, he is now a political and IDP Judge.

Adeleke now appealed, the Appeal Court now said Lifu should not give any judgement until the matter is settled at the Appeal Court and thereafter adjourned till 17th Oct, yet when raised in Court today, Justice Peter said NO.
Imagine saying No to a higher Court, these people will destroy what is left of democracy. Tomorrow, he will likely rule Bala is Chairman of NDC, just watch and see 😂

All parties will approach the Appeal Court and get a stay of execution, the matter will be thrown out eventually. For Peter Obi, you think he is safe 😂😂😂
They are coming, just relax/.
It’s just so disheartening because judges used to pretend about these things. But now they’re so brazenly emboldened that the crooks among them no longer give qualms.

Like you said, imagine ignoring a higher court. Not even James Omotosho moves like that.

I’ve never denied Leke’s membership of ADC.

Our contention has been that in the spirit of party supremacy, he was supposed to simply abide by the new leadership of his party after new leaders were appointed by virtue of the coalition.

Did APC not change from Ganduje to Nentawe? How many APC members called Nentawe a usurper?

Why should ADC change of leadership be different?

AMINDA:
They have engaged the services of multiple polling firms and analysts that keep telling them that Tinubu has no pathway to re-election. Hence, the desperation you see. In law, this is called fait accompli.

Not only does the ADC have elective positions, the ruling was given in defiance of a court of appeal judgement that had ordered the matter to not be heard until November. Tinubu and Wike are in panic mode and this judgement was meant to erase news of Amaechi's selection as Atiku’s Vice. Just as the Nafiu Bala fiasco by INEC was done on the day Kwankwaso joined the ADC. The incoming government will have a lot of sanitation to do beginning from the judiciary.
This is a very straightforward case. It won’t survive at Appeal.

What I find confounding is that Justice Lifu is no longer pretending about how sold out he is to injustice and in doing the bidding of Wike and APC.

It’s so so annoying and embarrassing
PoliticsCourt Is Wrong: ADC Won 2 House Of Representatives Seats In 2023 by Penguin2(op): 5:33pm On Jun 15
Ordinarily I would have been happy with the deregistration of ADC because it would clear the pathway for the north to vote for Peter Obi in greater majority, but I can’t support injustice just because it favours me or my interests.

The High Court based its ruling on the constitutional provision that INEC has the power to deregister any political party that fails to either score 25% of votes cast in any state in a presidential election or fails to win the governorship, senate, HOR, House of Assembly or LG chairmanship.

However, records show that ADC won 2 House of Representatives seats in the last general election.

The ADC won two House of Representatives seats in the 2023 National Assembly elections. Those seats were:

1. Leke Abejide — representing Yagba Federal Constituency (Mopamuro, Yagba East, and Yagba West LGAs) in Kogi State. He was re-elected on the ADC platform.
2. Ahmed Jaha — representing Damboa/Gwoza/Chibok Federal Constituency in Borno State. He was listed among the two ADC members elected into the 10th House of Representatives.

Further breakdown of parties and the number of seats won is as follows:

In the 2023 Nigerian House of Representatives elections, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) won 2 seats in the House of Representatives.

The distribution of seats after the election included:

* APC – 162 seats
* PDP – 102 seats
* Labour Party – 34 seats
* NNPP – 18 seats
* APGA – 4 seats
* ADC – 2 seats
* SDP – 2 seats
* YPP – 1 seat

These figures are for the 10th House of Representatives inaugurated in June 2023.

So, on what basis was the party deregistered despite this obvious record of electoral success in the last election?

I know APC supporters are cheering the news but you should be careful what you support. These things are setting precedents and the people you support will not always be in power. I hope you would be okay when another side gets into power and starts to follow in same footsteps.

This is an aberration that should be reversed.

All they care about is what they can steal.

And the things they are stealing, I keep wondering what they want to use it for.

They have stolen enough to last their lineage up till the fifth generation but still they can’t stop stealing.

You remember Ifechukwu Daniel? Yes, the man that was arrested yesterday for allegedly doctoring VDM’s video with Ai? Well, it would interest you to note that the DSS acted based off the investigation of a private individual who posted a video online and said he ran a check traced down the origin of the video to 2 persons - one Taiwo as the first suspect and Ifechukwu Daniel as the second suspect.

Surprisingly, however, the DSS left the person that was named as the first suspect and arrested only the person named as second. And the question is why?

Now, the guy who conducted the private investigation, Femi Unfiltered, has now made a rejoinder video stating that Ifechukwu Daniel is innocent and blamed the DSS for not reaching out to him after they saw his video before proceeding to arrest anybody based on what he said.

The question now is, why did DSS act so swiftly to arrest the person named as the second suspect and put his face everywhere as against the recent ban of public parading of suspects? Why? And why was the first suspect, Taiwo, not arrested?

And the APC implosion continues
2027: Rep. Umaru Resigns From APC Over Fraudulent Primaries

A member of the House of Representatives, Rep. Jeremiah Umaru (Jakadan Wamba), has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, with immediate effect.

Rep. Umaru, who represents Akwanga/Nassarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency, made this known in a letter addressed to the chairman of the party in his Gitta ward of Wamba Local Government Area in Nasarawa State.

According to the letter, dated May 28, the decision was due to the events and activities surrounding the just-concluded primaries, particularly the disturbing developments witnessed in the state, which has deeply shaken his confidence in the principles of justice, fairness, internal democracy, and transparency, which the ruling party once claimed to uphold.

He lamented that, as a loyal and committed member who devoted his time, energy, and resources towards the growth and success of the party, it is painful and disappointing to witness the increasing erosion of democratic values, imposition, manipulation, and disregard for the genuine will of members during the primary process.

The lawmaker explained that he can no longer, in good conscience, continue to associate with a system that undermines credibility, suppresses fairness, and disregards the sacrifices and aspirations of dedicated party faithful.

He expressed appreciation for the relationships and experience built during his time in the party and wished well to all individuals of good conscience within its fold.

Seun has always been considered neutral and to always play politically correct. For him to speak up, you just know things have become too bad.

Enough is enough. The killings, abductions of innocent Nigerians, and the unleashing of terror on our people cannot continue. These senseless killings and heinous crimes must stop.

Terror does not ask for your tribe, faith, region, or political affiliation before it strikes. Our response must be stronger than our divisions.

Today on Politics Today, I called on all Nigerians to put aside political, ethnic, and religious differences and stand united against the common enemy threatening our collective future.

Criticise what must be criticised. Demand accountability where it is due. But above all, let us stand together.
