PoliticsRe: 2027: Obasanjo Shuns Atiku, Drives Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket Against Tinubu by Penguin2: 2:22pm On Jan 19
fergie001:
This is just something constructed in someone's head. Kwankwaso, outside Kano is like fish out of water.

Kwankwaso with his ego won't be Vice to Obi.

The deciding regions of NC & SS have already gone to a direction, the election has already set up itself, only God can intervene for now!
I will keep telling you that these things are not the way you paint.

Okowa was a sitting governor and running mate to Atiku in 2023 but still lost Delta State to Obi by wide margin.

That the governors are moving doesn’t mean the people are moving.

And reducing Kwankwaso to Kano is being disingenuous. He has considerable influence in Jigawa and appeal across other core Muslim states.

There’s no better candidate for running mate to Obi than Kwankwaso and both of them can defeat Tinubu.

Open your mind to possibilities.

PoliticsWhere Is The President Of Nigeria? - Peter Obi Asks by Penguin2(op): 5:35pm On Jan 12
Where is the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria?

This is not just a question; it’s a critical demand for accountability in a national emergency. As we approach the end of this year, Nigeria will be home to approximately 140 million people living in extreme poverty—the highest number in the world. We are grappling with one of the hungriest populations globally, staggering insecurity, an unemployment rate exceeding 80 million among our youth, and one of the worst places to be born, with infant mortality rates worse than those of a nation seven times our size.

In the midst of this chaos, where has our President been? Spending 196 days abroad in 2025 alone—more than he has spent within his own country, at a time when we face profound crises.

Since December 2025, Nigerians have not heard a word from their President. Reports indicate he opted for a holiday in Europe while the nation was plunged into a New Year marked by hunger, anxiety, and uncertainty. There was no New Year address, no national broadcast, no leadership voice to provide reassurance or guidance.

This lack of presence starkly contrasts with what we see in comparable developing nations where leaders step up in times of crisis. In Nigeria, following U.S. military strikes on our soil, our President remained silent. Instead of directly addressing the nation, Nigerians learned about these critical events from foreign media, American officials, and the vague communications from the Presidency’s aides known for their propaganda, rather than from their own leader.

This is not governance; it’s neglect. The President was seen abroad yet again for another summit while remaining absent from his own country when he is needed the most. Earlier this year, he even sent an AI-generated image to the nation instead of addressing his people face-to-face.

Are we to believe Nigeria is being governed, or is it merely being managed from elsewhere? Leadership is not simply issuing press releases; it’s about standing before the people, engaging with them, and offering clarity.

We are not asking for perfection; we demand presence. Nigerians are eager to hear from their President through direct media briefings. They deserve to understand the state of their country. You cannot run Nigeria like a personal business or a private club; it is imperative to rebuild and grow our economy through unity and clarity.

Progress is impossible without unity and consensus, and it begins with strong leadership that sets the tone. No policy, reform, economic plan, or security measure can thrive in a divided nation. When leadership withdraws, unity falters, and the fabric of our society unravels under the weight of mistrust and division.

In a time of crisis, the absence of leadership is not just troubling; it is perilous. Silence in the face of crisis is the loudest form of failure.

A New Nigeria is not just POssible; it is essential. -PO

PoliticsRe: Stage Set For Kano Governor Yusuf’s Defection To APC by Penguin2: 4:21pm On Jan 12
Richtaiwo:
Not long ago, the handle-mops crowd claimed to have received a divine revelation from Abiama that Yusuf had suddenly made a U-turn. According to this inspired prophecy, the postponement was nothing but “strategic nonsense,” because the government had allegedly rushed in to pamper their Agulu messiah.

Now, since shamelessness is their most fortified stronghold, watch them glide past those loud proclamations as though they never uttered a word. Moments later, they resurface, speaking with straight faces, as if their earlier fantasies did not further distort their already chaotic political disequilibrium.

And these are the very same people who organized a full thanksgiving few hours ago, hallelujahs and all, over the defection of two LP senators to their so-called “new” consolation party. Memory loss, it seems, is their most consistent ideology.

Foreign AffairsRe: Iran’s Supreme Leader Posts Cartoon Depicting Trump As A Crumbling Sarcophagus by Penguin2: 6:57am On Jan 12
CNN is spotlighting mere cartoon posted by the criminal and crumbling Ayatollah but is forming blindness to the protests that is about to bring the criminal and Islamic regime down.

CNN did not see Iranians burning mosques.

CNN did not see Iranian girls lighting their cigarettes with the picture of Ayatollah.

CNN did not see that Iranians have changed their flag in recognition of their Zorostrian past and in denunciation of Islam.

CNN did not see those ones but saw that Khamenei posted cartoon.

And of course, supporters of everything evil had to post it on Nairaland to clutch on straws.

But news flash, the criminal Islamic Regime in Iran is gone and there’s nothing lovers of evil can do about it.

MadPolitician:
They are looking for a fall guy..
I doubt if that guy was at fault.
Imagine Nigerians sounding alarmed about the "high-speed" of a convoy carrying VIPs on a Nigerian road! So VIPs drive slowly in Nigeria? Driving like Lewis Hamilton.., Is that not perfectly normalhuh

The global reactions to that accident were simply overwhelming and the politicians were just trying to blame someone very conveniently. The driver perfectly fits the bill. Nothing else.

We heard of tire bursts, we heard the driver talking about the brakes refusing to work no matter how hard he tried. We read about a trailer full of Soya beans packed on the busiest highway in Nigeria for 4 days running! Yet, the authorities went for the driver, the easiest target..

Aside though; do you guys remember that the British were angry with Joshua for his new love for Nigeria? In his last fight against Jake Paul, he came into the ring with the Nigerian flag! He used to use the British flag. He complained of the heavy taxes on his wages, almost 40 million usd by the British for a fight held in America! If he absconded and started fighting as a Nigerian, he most probably will pay zilch as taxes! You think the British will keep quiet as he slios away?

Do remember that he had that accident in a Lexus bullet proof SUV. Modern cars like that can easily have their computers hijacked and the car remote controlled into oblivion.. ..

Nigerians ronu..
If Israel could hack and blow up Hesbollah’s walkie-talkies, then it would be foolery to doubt that a car computer system could be compromised. But the question still remains, what are the odds?

It would be more plausible if you allege that the driver was compromised by the British to take Joshua out because of whatever grouse they have with him. But the question would be, why would the British wanna kill him? They need him alive to collect more taxes.

The only thing I can listen to, when verified, is that the vehicle brake system failed or any other thing beyond the driver’s control. Asides that, I blame the driver for the accident.

Because he's a poor man.

If na one of AJ's friends dey drive that car, I'm not sure he'll be arrested.

The persecution of poor men in this country is on the rise.
Please stop that.

I hate when we can’t dispassionately assess issues without throwing that poor man jab.

The first day I saw the accident, I suggested that the driver be prosecuted.

If you look at the impact that vehicle had, a Lexus SUV for that matter, you’d realize that only recklessness could have caused the accident.

If he were to be a little bit more careful, he would have been able to maneuver the situation and avert that tragedy.

The accident is 100% on the driver and those who drive know it.

franchasofficia:
You are wrong please, change that mindset.

To start with, Tinubu does not represent Southern Nigeria, he represents his tribe and region and he has been so bold about it.

Tinubu appointed only Yorubas into key and juicy political positions not minding other Southerners.

If Atiku/Obi is what will rescue Nigeria from Tinubu's disasterous leadership, then every well meaning Nigerian should support it.

I wish Peter Obi could emerge President and implement some major policies that will reposition Nigeria for greatness, but then we must show some empathy to people like Atiku who has invested so much resources, time, effort and energy for years to achieve his Presidential ambition and see if there is a way to reach a solid agreement to allay his own fears and carry him and his men along.

What makes us different from the hyenas and Jackals in APC should be our human empathy, human conscience and understanding even when we get the Presidency; we must implement every policy bearing other Nigerian people's plight and sufferings in mind unlike Tinubu who rules like Iranian Supreme Leader and North Korean Dictator without considering people's plight and sufferings.

We must be different from the people we criticize
If you dispassionately assess Tinubu’s administration, you will see he has made some positive reforms that are not very beneficial to the north but not very disturbing to the south.

I just fear that an Atiku presidency will undo some of those things and drag us backwards.
PoliticsRe: Dele Momodu Calls Utomi "Undemocratic" For Ruling Out Obi As VP Candidate by Penguin2: 3:40pm On Jan 03
WizardOfNG:
This is how every sensible Southerner should view the matter. We have to be pragmatically intelligent about choices concerning our nation and the future of our generations unborn.

For example. The North turned the forex sector of Nigeria into a glorified scam using bureau de change with political overlords who had access to foreign currency from CBN at official rate, via political connections, they would then sell at massive black market rate profit through the many thousands of Bureau de change they controlled nationwide.

What people do not know is the damage this was doing to the Nigerian economy and the concept of us trading goods and services with the world.

The likes of legitimate Nigerian international businessmen, Nigerian manufacturers who need to import materials, Nigerian importers of economically beneficial finished products, financiers, Nigerian students seeking to study abroad etc, etc, etc were denied Forex because Alhajis have collected them all.

No nation does that sort of sabotage to itself but Nigeria and I have not even talked of the damage fuel subsidy etal were doing.

For sure a Northern president, while fuel subsidy is too far gone to be reversed, may seek to reverse floating of the Naira so Northern Bureau De Change, and the stupendous billions they were making at the expense of millions of Nigerians, begin to flourish again.

This is one of many, many things I can mention that would show any wise person a Southerner must remain in power beyond 2027 so the economic liberalisation of Nigeria continues and gets the chance to reach a stage the regressive North cannot truncate to then succeed dragging us back 20 years.

Nigerians need to be wise. It is not about revenge against Yorubas and Tinubu. It should be about adults having the clarity of vision to understand the paramount issues are about our generations unborn who deserve a Nigeria that is like Singapore etal to proudly call their nation of origin.
A very intelligent and rational submission.

We can’t burn our faces just because we want to spite our noses. Only fools do that.

We cannot because we want to get back at Tinubu and his hounds of tribalists and sell our birthright to the regressive north.

Trust me, Tinubu has done a lot to liberalize the economy for genuine hustlers and business owners. Hand power back to the north and they will viciously undo a lot of the things he has done even take us further backwards.

They don’t want a Nigeria that works on merit. They want a Nigeria where goodies are handed to them because they are “the north”.

We must do better than be emotional about it.
PoliticsRe: Dele Momodu Calls Utomi "Undemocratic" For Ruling Out Obi As VP Candidate by Penguin2: 3:31pm On Jan 03
ArcSEMPECJ:
Hmmm

To me , this is absolute nonsense, Tinubu is only dancing to the karma he deserves when he boycotted the same issue you are trying to protect under Tinubu during Goodluck era....

Now , let me ask you, why will Yorubas support for a Northern President against a Southern chanceshuh

Let's leave Tinubu alone and Yorubas , let them serve the karma returning back at them for what you do to someone , same shall be served to you...

As it stands now, the interest of the South does not lie on Tinubu continuing against the Northerners, let it be the gain of the Northerners if Atiku refuses to step down for Peter Obi....

Tinubu and majority of Yorubas broke the Unity and peace of the South, made South look porous and allowed North to have a field day , so let the Yorubas not pray Wise and preach Unity now because the ball is in their court now ...
Let’s assume we go with this your thinking…

Then after 8 years, when it should be the turn of somebody like Peter Obi to succeed Atiku, then a Kwankwaso will align with the Yorubas and convince them why they should queue behind him to ensure the Igbos don’t get power. Then the Yorubas agrees and aligns with him and the combination defeats Peter Obi.

Then after Kwankwaso’s 8 years, another northerner comes to Igbos and preaches the need to ensure a Yoruba man doesn’t become president and on and on the cycle will continue.

Is that what you want?

You may not understand, that masses expectations of everything being cheap or free or picking money on the floor without working for will never happen in no matter who becomes president.

The fact that Atiku and Obi has no track record of bold achievements in governance will Never help them to presidency . Atiku and Obi has decamped to more than 4 parties with no single one to be referred to as Thier own they co-founded or build.

This is another theory that's been postulated by some. Abba Gida might just be decamping to take advantage of the largesse that Tinubu is sharing and to neutralize his oppositions in the person of Ganduje, Gawuna and Barau in Kano. Kwankwaso on the other hand, will pitch his tents with the ADC in order not to put all eggs in one basket. Tinubu's betrayal of allies is beginning to cost him. Kwankwaso doesn't trust him to keep his words.
Lol! It’s win win for them.

With Abba Gida Gida defecting to APC, they neutralize opposition in the governorship election as Kwankwaso will ensure that no candidate of consequential standing emerges in ADC to constitute a threat to Abba.

It’s a good call from Kwankwaso if that’s what they did.
