Politics › Nenadi Usman Backs The Zoning Of LP Presidential Ticket To South by Penguin2(op): 4:09pm On Jan 26 |
The next stop is for ADC to also zone their presidential ticket to South. The Labour Party faction loyal to Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, on Sunday declared that the party is inclined towards zoning its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, in line with the principle of power rotation between the North and South.
The Interim National Chairman of the faction, Senator Nenadi Usman, made the declaration during a late-night interview on TVC monitoredby our correspondent.
Speaking on the party’s zoning arrangement ahead of the 2027 general election, Usman said equity and national balance demanded that the presidency should remain in the South.
“Well, it’s the turn of the South. Yes, I believe in a power shift between North and South. So, if the Labour Party wants to fill a candidate now, it will be a Southerner.
“Anyway, this is my personal view. When we sit together as stakeholders, we will decide whether to field a candidate or not. If we are going to the field, where will the candidate come from and all those decisions?
“But from my moral perspective, it is the turn of the South, and a Southerner should be allowed to contest an election at this material time,” she said.
On the party’s likely presidential flag bearer, the former Finance Minister said no decision had been taken, stressing that such matters would be resolved collectively by key stakeholders.
“When we get to that bridge, we’ll cross it. Whether we are fielding a candidate and how we are going to field him is not something that I personally can sit down and make a decision on.
“There is Dr Alex Otti. We also have the NLC and the TUC. These are the stakeholders. So, we have to sit together with them and decide what we should do,” Usman stated.
Abia gov appoints new Enyimba FC head coach She also dismissed speculations that Governor Otti might defect from the Labour Party following the exit of the party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
“I’m sure he will still be with us, because I spoke to him, actually, when Peter Obi was leaving. I asked him, what about you? And He said, no. He’s still with us,” she said.
Reacting to Obi’s defection to the African Democratic Congress, Usman admitted she was initially displeased but said she respected his decision after hearing his reasons.
“I was unhappy about the decision. But having spoken to him and heard the reason he left, I had to respect his judgment. I just wished him well and said we are praying for him. That’s all,” she added.
The LP factional chair further disclosed plans to reunite aggrieved members of the party through a reconciliation process aimed at rebuilding the party ahead of future elections.
As I said, we want to call everyone together. Let’s bury the hatchets, let’s come together. If truly you are a lover of the Labour Party, this is the time for you to come and join us. Let’s join hands to rebuild our party.
“We are on the verge of inaugurating a committee that will be in charge of reconciliation.
“So that committee, I believe, will go round and talk to everybody that needs to be spoken to and plead with them to come. Let’s join hands and rebuild our party,” Usman said. https://x.com/mobilepunch/status/2015539164393927039?s=46&t=2AB_wrBea-oBYJf5ZCFV-A

Southerners don't want Atiku except the Igbo's
Northerners don't want Peter Obi, his name is currently an abomination as his supporters are the one inviting Trump to bomb the entire north
South South, South West , North Central already sealed. That's not mouth matter but glaring.
So which hope are you still depending on towards 2027 or how do you people normally do your own political analysis First, the face off between Atiku and Peter Obi exists only in your imagination. Second, that Peter Obi is abomination in the north is an imagination that exists only in your head. Please what precisely have changed about the opposition we have in Nigeria? Do they have new coach ( credible political leaders that won't disappear if there was a little issue within the party?
Have they changed their tactics of playing? To our best of understanding, it's still the boring obsolete method.
Election is just a year plus but the opposition are yet to know which political party they would be vying, not sure who their presidential candidate will be not to talk of Vice president.
Yet after they failed, they would be pointing fingers even with their glaring poor preparation Yes. Before now, Tinubu thought he could decimate the opposition and become the sole candidate in 2027. But the opposition came up with a new game plan. They launched a coalition and adopted ADC which would ensure that opposition is no longer divided. Then they hired an experienced coach in the game in David Mark. They even hired an assistant manager who was an assistant of their rival in Aregbesola. Tell me, if those are not changes, what are they? |
Politics › Like Man U Vs Arsenal Game Like 2027 Elections. by Penguin2(op): 8:53pm On Jan 25 |
Going into today’s game between Manchester United and Arsenal, Arsenal seemed unbeatable. They held 3 remarkable records.
Before today, they hadn’t conceded 3 goals in a single game since 2023.
Since this season, they hadn’t lost at the Emirates until today.
Lastly, they hadn’t lost any game in which they scored first this season until today.
What is my point?
Before today, Arsenal fans didn’t believe in the possibility that a Manchester United that has so far been riddled with crisis can beat them at home.
The above is no different from Tinubu supporters who don’t believe in the possibility that Tinubu can be defeated even as incumbent no matter how formidable he appears.
Before today, Manchester United has been in a kind of crisis just like Nigerian opposition parties and politicians have been in crisis. But just like Man United found a way to defeat Arsenal at their own turf, so also can the opposition find a way to beat Tinubu in 2027.
Will it be easy? No.
Will there be pushbacks. Yes. Like today, Arsenal doubled the scoreline at 2:2 in what looked like dying minutes of the game but United got the job done regardless.
So, like United pulled off what seemed impossible today, so also can it happen in 2027.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. |

WizardOfNG: The bolded is the koko of the matter that only those progressive and critical-thinking, beyond the influence of ethno-religious or political bias, can discern.
If we truly want a Nigerian that will be developed to it's full potentials built on the spirit of equity, merit and deployment of square pegs in square hole then Atiku or any Northerner must not be President of Nigeria in 2027 that is the turn of the South after Buhari's eight years the South honourably assisted the North to gain and complete.
They are only desperately seeking the Presidency because Tinubu's reform, which is extremely good for the future of Nigeria and our generations unborn, is inimical to their short term lust for unfettered access to the wealth of Nigeria they loot copiously, and with nil returns for Nigeria and Nigerians, as Malami has shown.
Nigerians need to think smart to shun emotions and historic hatred of others to focus on what is best for our future and that of our generations unborn. Some of us who are critical minded enough and who try to put the generational hatred behind us and put the general good of Nigeria above all sentiments are there; but you lots who support Tinubu are not making it easy by your daily malicious vituperations. Nonetheless, for me, in 2027, it’s either Peter Obi or let Tinubu finish his 8 years. |
Politics › Re: Governor Abba Yusuf Resigns From NNPP by Penguin2: 11:55am On Jan 24 |
WizardOfNG: It is you Tinubu is not "doing well" to because you don't have an informed and firm grasp of what doing well, for a President of Nigeria, entails.
"Doing well" , for any Nigerian President, must never be about sustaining the regime of cheap and subsidized fuel, abetted with subsidies in many other sections, that Nigerian leaders use as weaponised tools they deploy to make you accepting of and even praise-singing of the poverty you are forever entrenched in and will never escape, if the status quo obtains, as was the case with OBJ, GEJ and Buhari.
You want to develop as a people and nation like Britons and Britain or Singaporeans and Singapore respectively?
Then make the conscious effort to educate yourself and gain more knowledge to note such can only be achieved with holistic and fundamental reforms that requires sacrifice from us all.
When Nigeria is the best nation she can be and you are the best human resources you can be also, after unavoidably and initially painful reforms bear fruit, then you will be very thankful and even admit yourself Tinubu did well.
Far more so than all the cowards before him, lacking political will, who shoved stale fish in your mouth to keep you silent rather than teach you how to fish for the finest the Sea has to offer. Again, I already alluded to the necessity of the removal of fuel subsidy and my support for it since the days of Jonathan. But don’t be clever by half. Jonathan did summon the political will to remove the fuel subsidy but this same Tinubu gathered Nigerians at Ojota to close down the economy until GEJ was forced to rescind that decision. What have you to say to that? Again, what defense have you that the Tinubu who removed subsidy and is asking us to suffer and understand, went ahead to buy a private yatch, a new private jet and brand new cars for legislators while still borrowing trillions of Naira. Where then is the money saved from subsidy? |
Politics › Re: Governor Abba Yusuf Resigns From NNPP by Penguin2: 11:49am On Jan 24 |
WizardOfNG: You are correct that it is indeed possible Atiku has learnt from the fallout over his 2023 attempt to immediately replace a Fulani who had just spent 8 years in power when the rotation agreement forbids that since no individual's personal ambition should be greater than what assures the peace and ethnic harmony of Nigeria.
In fact I still insist his son joined APC and pledged support for Tinubu because, as a young and fledgling Northern politician with hopes of a bright future in Nigerian politics, he does not wish to align with his dad's polarising and utterly dishonorable ambition.
The whole world saw the South do their part honourably to accord Buhari and the North their two mamixum term of 4 years each in Aso Rock.
Atiku's son knows he will be lumbered with his dad's treachery and lack of honour, signalling a career-ending damnation of his political ambition as the children of Abacha suffered to become political pariah, if Atiku runs and perhaps win with that development then signalling the beginning of the end of Nigeria as most young Northern politicians would not want.
Yorubas have in recent years made it crystal clear they want regional autonomy ditto South South and Middle Belt. Igbos have also been consistent about Biafra.
An Atiku win simply mean several region will now be united agitating for one and the same thing against Fulanis with the implications being that no one will return to the 'one Nigeria' negotiation table , as they did after the North did Abiola dirty, because this development will be the second major power-grab treachery of the North other regions will find difficult to swallow or accept.
The hawks, from all ethnic groups, behind Atiku( with Dele Momodu and Kenneth Okonkwo being quintessential examples) are simply after their own selfish needs and not thinking of the long term consequences of what he is attempting. Let's hope the few wise heads around him convince him to do the right thing. This perspective, and the fear of what Atiku might do with power considering how much he has suffered for it, is why I’m a staunch campaigner of Obi or Nothing (Tinubu). I don’t like Tinubu and what he represents especially the fact that he favours toutism and prefers keeping the system gagged under his control than push for institutional reforms to bring about strong institutions like our elections, the judiciary, et Al. But I do like Tinubu for the reforms he has brought biz fuel subsidy removal, Naira-dollar unification and even the Tax law. The highest beneficiaries of what we had before now were northerners which is why they are fighting him. I also see how Tinubu is systematically breaking the northern stranglehold on levers of power in Nigeria in a way that I’m certain that if Tinubu is to complete 8 years, the north will never be as powerful as they used to be. Now, my fear is that should we hand power back to Atiku, we would have undone all these things and the north will return in an even more vicious way than they have ever been. It’s the reason I believe strongly that the southerners and even northern Christians who are part of the ADC coalition will not just sit there and watch Atiku bulldoze his way to the ticket. Hence, justifying my very first assertion that anything is possible. |
Politics › Re: Governor Abba Yusuf Resigns From NNPP by Penguin2: 7:55am On Jan 24 |
WizardOfNG: Seems you don't know not understand the nature of Atiku. This is a Fulani man who was very serious about replacing Buhari, a Fulani who had served two maximum term of four years each as President, without consideration for the potentially permanent and detrimental consequences such may have on the peace and unity of Nigeria.
Atiku embraced and accepted th huge risk of being the possible cause of a rift that would never be healed and would ultimately lead to the break-up of Nigeria given that rotation of power between North and South was suggested and accepted to tackle how the North denied Abiola, a Southerner, his rightfully earned Presidential mandate.
Abacha usurped the legitimately earned turn of a Southerner to be President.
The development caused a lot of bad blood, especially as Abiola and his wife died during the fallouts of the saga, I am sure would have eventually broken up Nigeria had the Yorubas had not been appeased.
Atiku was ready to be the reincarnation of Abacha in his desperation and thoughtless selfishness to become President in 2023.
Will such a desperate character, ready to damn the consequences of Nigeria burning and raging with division and instability as long as he is President, step down for Obi? It is not rocket science bro. I like how you traced Atiku’s antecedent to help you draw a conclusion on him and his character. And your point of view makes even more sense when you consider the fact that 2027 is most probably his last chance considering his age. But my point remains that anything is possible. It is not impossible that Atiku has learnt something in his 2023 sojourn that that unwritten consensus of power rotation between North and South is stronger than he imagined it. And if he has learned anything, it is possible he might wanna give way for Obi considering that the southern sentiment is still very much prevalent. Again, consider the role of stakeholders. I believe Atiku insisted on contesting in 2023 because some northern stakeholders was behind him. But the atmosphere is seeming like that is no longer the situation and I doubt Atiku would want to go against them. |

The ADC will select its presidential candidate through a transparent party primary and no one will step aside for anyone except by their own will. Anyone unwilling to put in work and build the party is at liberty to leave while there is still time. There will be no free ticket handed to anyone and Obi was not cajoled to join the ADC. He came in of his own freewill and he's been part of the idea from scratch. In the end, ADC would have to decide between who can win the primaries and who can win the election. It’s their call. |

The first is that should Obi lose the ADC ticket, he can easily fall back to LP and grab its ticket and contest the election (to waste votes [I know]). Second, if Obi gets the ADC ticket with Usman in charge of LP, that means the LP structure will easily be deployed for Obi as well. So, head or tail, we are good. Game on! |

Tinubu supporters really need to choose where they stand.
On Christmas Day they celebrated the fact that US conducted airstrikes in Nigeria in collaboration with Nigerian authorities who supplied them intelligence. They mocked Obidients who thought Trump would not collaborate with Tinubu.
Then yesterday, New York Times published an article written by a hungry goat in Ogbomoso saying that a screwdriver seller in Onitsha supplied the intelligence that US used in striking Sokoto, and all of a sudden Tinubu supporters are saying it’s true that the intelligence came from Onitsha.
So, Tinubu supporters, which one una dey push make we know how to attack una.
