Crime / Nigerian Arrested In Indian For Allegedly Cheating by penitential(m): 2:08pm On May 14, 2017
A 33-year-old Nigerian national from Panvel was recently arrested for allegedly cheating a an Indian Kerala businessman of Rs59 lakh.(5.9 million)

According to hindustantimes the police said the accused Harison Ilbo created a fake profile in Facebook under the name of John Kroklin and pretended to be an officer of the USA Army.

He became friend with the businessman in January and told him that he owns a chemical laboratory in India and runs a private business which he wants to shift to USA.

Ilbo also met the businessman in Kerala and invited him to be the manager of the company. Later, after gaining his trust, Ilbo requested him for some money to clean his chemical lab. The businessman sent Ilbo Rs59 lakh in instalments till May.

On April 29, Ilbo told the businessman that he was going to Kerala and asked him to pick him up from Thiruvananthapuram. He then switched his phone off for three days, said the police. On the fourth day, Ilbo allegedly called the businessman and claimed that he has been kidnapped and that he would be killed unless he paid them a ransom of Rs25lakh.

This scared the businessman because if Ilbo died, the police may suspect his hand in it. He told Ilbo that he can pay only Rs8 lakh and then approached the Amboli police.

Based on technical evidence, senior inspector Bharat Gaikwad and his team traced Ilbo to his house in Taloja and arrested him. They realised that the Nigerian had faked the story to cheat the businessman. The police is now investigating if Ilbo has any criminal records and if he has cheated others.

Entertainment / Re: 30 Years Remembrance Of Bob Marley by penitential(m): 8:03pm On May 11, 2017
pappykay1:
Yes! His work was over 30 years ago and he flew away home, leaving his global fans stupefied and in deep mourning. Robert Nesta Marley, popularly known as Bob Marley, was on May 11, 1981 felled by death caused by cancer and brain tumor. He had fought a ceaseless battle with death for eight months with the illness taking him to several hospitals in New York, USA and Munich, West Germany.

Marley finally gave up the ghost at the Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Miami, USA surrounded by members of his family including his weeping mother, Cedelar Booker.

'Woman hold her head and cry cause her son had…died. Can a woman tender care cease towards the child she bears?' Marley sang prophetically several years ago.

Humble beginning

Bob Marley had a humble beginning. He was born in the ghettos of Kingston, Jamaica on February 6, 1945. His father was Norman Marley, a British Naval Captain posted to the West Indies during the Second World War. Marley had little Western education as he dropped out of school at 14 to become an apprentice welder. He soon quit welding to team up with Peter Tosh whom he had met recently and both released a single, Simmer Down which enjoyed a considerable airplay on the local radio.

In 1964, Marley and Tosh formed the Wailing Wailers together with Bunny Livingstone Wailer, Junior Braithwaite, Beverly Kelso, Rita Anderson (who later became Rita Marley in 1966), Judy Mowatt, and Marcia Griffith (the 1-Three). The group was popular in Jamaica as it performed in many shows.

In 1972, the Wailers was signed on by Chris Blackwell's Island Records and the following year, 1973 came out with their debut album, Catch A Fire. Catch A Fire actually launched the Wailers into superstardom. The group toured Britain, but as successful as the tour was, it turned out to be the turning point for the group. Back in Jamaica, the group split with Peter Tosh and Bonny Walter opting out after alleging Bob Marley's domineering role while on tour.

'They say it's Bob Marley and the Wailers, I never tell no one to say that…' Bob objected, stressing that the band's welfare was his concern.

Bob Marley & The Wailers
After the duo opted out, the band regrouped and became known as Bob Marley and The Wailers. In 1975, the group released an album, Natty Dread. It was an instant hit both in Jamaica and abroad. 1976 witnessed a follow-up album, Rastaman Vibration with it's hit track, War. 1977 was the year of Exodus while Kaya, an album that glorifies marijuana followed in 1978. In 1979, Marley came out with Survival but could not himself survive the Uprising (1980) of the cancer affliction of 1981.

Thirty years after, Marley's work still lives on. He would constantly be remembered as the apostle of reggae music, a thorn in the flesh of the oppressors and the wailing voice of the oppressed. He was the cultural ambassador of the Carribean Island. 'We Rastas don't worry about death. The whole significance of Rastas is in life,' Marley says. The irrepresible Rastaman was perhaps peeping into the future with this statement.

Reggae revival

But then reggae fans all over the world have undoubtedly stopped worrying themselves about Marley's death, their major concern is the lack of development of reggae music after he passed away. Since Marley's death reggae music has been rudderless like a kingdom without a king. In fact, Marley was the king and since he died nobody has been able to assume the throne. Not even the ageless Jimmy Cliff nor the Grammy award winning son of Marley, Ziggy. Just as the world is yearning for the revival of reggae music, Ziggy, on whom many fans depend to bring back the music's old glory is deeply involved in his new comic book, Marijuanaman, which he's using to educate the world on the many uses of marijuana.

'I started learning more about the marijuana plant, and it's basically used for more than smoking. It strikes me as to why society is not utilising it as a natural resource, for its industrial uses, to make clothes, for nutrition among an array of other uses. All we see is the smoking aspect. I'm trying to find a way to expose the idea of its many uses in a way that's not preachy, but in an entertaining way,' Ziggy explained.

Marley's biopic

Ziggy is also involved in the making of the latest Bob Marley documentary. Produced by Tuff Gong Pictures and Shangri-La Entertainment, the documentary entitled Marley is expected for release this year. It is directed by Kevin MacDonald, who won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature with his 2000 film One Day in September, and was also behind 2009's State of Play and The Last King of Scotland (2006).

'I was involved in it deeply, which is the first I've been involved in one of the documentaries like dis. It's trying to show him (Bob Marley) in a different light, from the people who knew him best,' said Ziggy.

Emmane:
Hi guys..... A quick one;

I was told that VO for Canada do not really look at the details of the account, they are particular about the closing balance. How true is this.
.

Please don't be mis-informed, V.O's pay particular attention to every details of an account statement.

I want to reiterate emphatically that details of a statement of account is more important to the V.Os than the closing balance.

Mind you, it's not also to say that the closing balance of an account statement is not important, but the details (inflow, outflow, source of money....) are all important to the V.O's and not just the closing balance.

I asked because my company will be funding my studies as my sponsors. I asked because the finances will be transferred to my Salary Account. Is that Okay? Or will it raise eye brow?

It may raise an eyebrow if all the I's are not dotted and all the T's not crossed

Aside the Sponsorship letter, study leave letter, employment letters, what else can I use as a backup to support this sponsorship?

Aside from your company providing the finance for your study and providing you with study leave letter and statement of account, your company has to clearly and logically explain to the V.O why they're sponsoring you for that program and esp why Canada and not Nigeria.

What has been your contribution to the development of the company that made the company interested in sending you for the course outside nigeria.

How long have you been working with the company and what's your position there.

How does your intended course stand to benefit the company upon arrival.

What do you plan to do after your international academic experience and exposure.

Finally..... people finish their programme and do not come back, Im keen to knw what keeps them there. I know canada gives a 1yr work permit for a 1yr program, but in if its an organization sponsored programme, will I be given work permit there after my progrom?
Response please....

The choice is yours as to accepting the 1 year postgraduate work experience. If you seek international work experience, fine! If you don't, fine!.
But you def have the chance of getting a Post graduate work permit.

One common reason why most people stay back after study is for employment and better life.

Sorry for not receiving response so far for your query.

N.B- please try to establish good home ties and also demostrate good and solid PERSONAL FINA NC AND ASSETS. declares your personal assets and also maintain a good and reasonable amount in your S.O.A that commeasure with your age, work experience and monthly income.

Innogee:
Good day Gurus, Pls I need your assistance. I applied for student visa on 10th Feb, 2017 and I got a refusal today.
I studied Elect \ Elect in HND 2005 with good working experience in Telecoms for 12yrs now. I applied to conestoga college for my PGD to study wireless network infrastructure which is closely related to my course of study and my experience. Although, I have travelled to Ghana in 2009 but I dint include it in my application. Please, I need urgent advise on what next to do as a friend is advising me to try PR.

Reason for refusal : I am not satisfied that you would leave Canada after your study so visa refused on the basis of
1. Travel History
2. Purpose of visit
3. Personal asset and financial status.

It will better to order for your GCMS file, but to expatiate more on this your refusal reasons, I will like to tell you the possible reasons associated with the cited reasons above pending when your GCMS will come out so that you can start planning on how to correct them (if considering re-applying).

Travel History;
This is just a tag-along reason. Especially if there are other genuine reasons for your refusal. In this case, your main reasons for refusal are; "Purpose Of Visit and Personal assets and financial status".

Purpose of Visit;

Don't be decieved, this reason is associated with many other reasons. Firstly, the V.O may look at the following
1. Why do you want to study this course in Canada and not Nigeria.

2. Peradventure you're already functioning in that field of proposed study, going for a PGD might raise a red-flag. Lemme say this, most V.O's doesn't see an academic progression in PGD as it's a college-run program.

Also, you have to look at the contribution of your proposed course to your career and the practical application to the development of your environment.

It's not enough for you to just believe that your proposed course of study is related to your undergraduate course of study; you also have to indepthly show it to the V.O the relationship that exists between the two and the application to your work experience. As an Engineering graduate that i am, I might need a better clarification on the relationship between an Economics graduate going for Supply chain Management.

These and more are what you should be looking at tackling under "Purpose of Visit".

Also, as regard Personal assets and Finance;

I will like to ask you some questions.

1. Does your declared personal assets justifies that high number of work experience?
What I mean is that; what's your statement of account like, the inflow and outflow...? Did you declare any other asset aside your S.O.A?

V.O's most times commeasure your years of work experience with with financial status ( both liquid assets and non liquid assets).

My big bosses pls i need your help. I had a skype interview with a PI at University of Alberta for PhD. The funding offer is 21k CAD (stipend+tuition) per year. We haven't concluded yet. Got another offer of $22k (stipend only, tuition covered seperately) at Colorado State Uni. Which do I go for? Alberta is of course higher ranked but I can't afford grad studies without funding. Please help.
Sorry bro for the late response. But you've gotten the best advice from fellow experts.
One thing you have to decide is;
1. Which do you prefer, United State or Canada?
2. Canada is a very good country with lots of opportunities.
As it's been said, get your I-20 form and go for your F1 visa interview. It's better when you have options and it's left for you to decide.
Although, I will advise you to wait a little provided there's still time for you and wait for the admission decision from Alberta so that you don't double spend for F1 interview. One thing am very sure of is that, if your admission is coming from alberta, it will come with some funding.
Remember that holders of F1 visas are not allowed to work except for some on-campus jobs. This is usually a turn-off for some people.

Am also thinking what is the advantage of using Ontariocollege.caover applying directly to the schools?
Will it be faster?
What are the documents required for Ontario college that cross across all the colleges?

Am seeing some other schools offering the same course and still open for September 2017.
It's useful when you're applying to more than one college.
It saves and duplicate your applications to other colleges you will apply to automatically without you having to keep filling forms for all the colleges.
It's just like Collegeboard for U.S.A.
Note- it's only the general informations that will be automatically updated on your intending colleges. Specific informations requested for from other colleges, will be filled by you.

Once you settle your purpose of vist, your TRV is sure ready. Get your GCMS and let's know what to do.

sustainable business practice
Well, according to your UG program and your proposed course of study, I think you're in line; but,a trying to explain the relationship between a Project Manager and a Marketer to your proposed study. I will advise you do proper background check to ensure all are in-line. You can check for the correlation in the course of study, functional relation....
in college of the rockies cranbrook british columbia. the school has sent me pre-loa
I don't know what you mean by "pre-loa". If it's anything am thinking, Conditional offer letter, the i will advise you meet the conditions stated first.

and asked me to pay for my one year tuition fee which about to 10,350cad . i read project management in my first degree and i have been working in a private firm since my graduation as a sales rep of the company. my brother who will be my sponsor just opened his own company and i asked me to further my study in business development or equivalent to enable me get in-depth knowledge of business development and sustainability so that i will head his company after graduation
I will advise you take the statement made bold out of your S.O.P. try to talk about how it will better improve you career-wise, economic-wise....

i married 29th of decemeber but my wife is just few weeks pregnant, and she has agreed i should go since i will be coming back after graduation.she has given me her consent letter from her office.
You don't need the statement made bold. Don't complicate your application with un-necessary and irrelevant documents.

she is a government staff. my sponsor has paid my school fee and he is about to pay my accommodation for six month on campus. i have pieces of lands i bought in the village, there are no government papers to them except the agreement signed between me and the seller and witnesses. i have not much in my account as per account balance but there has been flow of fund which is not huge so to say. my sponsor who happens to be my blood brother is doing everything financial.

my fear now is i have been delayed last two years although i was just doing it on my own then without any support, and i was paper application, please what do you think and how best to i approach this application to avoid another delay. i am 34 this year and i am going for pgd. my course is starting september 4 ending december 2019. please i do not want to rush since my acceptance letter came very early, please i need direction on how to go about this. thank you

I applied for PGD Business Administration on my First Application that was denied. I was not having much fund. i had about 5million on a fixed deposit account then, and i was not married then, so i was told that my tie with Nigeria was not strong. more so i was told about not coming back after my study. that i did not show that i will be coming back after my study
