*BOOSTING NIGERIA'S GLOBAL IMAGE:*

*The Strategic Hosting of Dr. Bethany Hall-Long, the 75th Governor and 26th Lieutenant Governor of Delaware USA on a Four Day Private Visit in Nigeria by Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu*

At a time when Nigeria is grappling with persistent challenges that often dominate international headlines, ranging from security concerns in the northern regions to economic pressures and humanitarian crises, the nation has actively sought avenues to reshape its narrative on the global stage.

One such pivotal effort came in the form of a high-profile four-day visit by Dr. Bethany Hall-Long, the 75th Governor and 26th Lieutenant Governor of the State of Delaware, USA, hosted by Ambassador Timothy Nwachukwu, LLB, SDG Ambassador and National Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Goals Council under the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Students Engagement, and founder of the Youth Advocates for Peace, Justice & Empowerment Network (YAPJEN), Nwachukwu orchestrated this engagement not merely as a diplomatic courtesy but as a deliberate strategy to enhance Nigeria's international reputation.

Nigeria's Image Challenge: A Backdrop of Negative International Press

Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation and a key player in global energy markets, has long been plagued by portrayals in international media that emphasize instability. Reports from outlets like BBC, CNN, and The New York Times frequently highlight issues such as Boko Haram insurgencies, banditry in the northwest, separatist tensions in the southeast, and widespread kidnapping incidents.

These narratives have been amplified in recent years, particularly amid economic downturns exacerbated by inflation, currency devaluation, and the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to various global risk assessments, including those from the World Bank and the U.S. State Department, Nigeria's security advisories often deter foreign investment and tourism, painting a picture of a nation fraught with risks.

This negative press has tangible consequences: reduced foreign direct investment (FDI), strained diplomatic relations, and a hesitancy among international partners to engage deeply. In 2025 alone, headlines have focused on isolated violent incidents, overshadowing progress in areas like infrastructure development and humanitarian reforms. *Against this backdrop, initiatives like high-level visits from foreign dignitaries become powerful tools for image rehabilitation. They demonstrate that Nigeria remains a viable partner for collaboration, capable of hosting secure, productive engagements that yield mutual benefits.*

The Hosting Initiative: A Calculated Diplomatic Move

Ambassador Timothy Nwachukwu's decision to host Dr. Hall-Long was rooted in a broader vision aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goals 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). However, beyond these thematic focuses, the visit was strategically timed and designed to project Nigeria as a stable, welcoming, and progressive nation. In inviting a prominent U.S. state leader to immerse herself in Nigerian affairs over four days, Nwachukwu aimed to humanize the country's story, shifting the global conversation from peril to potential.

The itinerary was meticulously planned to underscore Nigeria's resilience and commitment to positive change. Dr. Hall-Long's delegation arrived in Abuja, where they engaged in a series of high-impact activities that directly addressed humanitarian and developmental issues while subtly reinforcing perceptions of safety. For instance, a key highlight was the visit to an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Durumi, Abuja. Here, Dr. Hall-Long not only witnessed the challenges faced by displaced communities—many affected by ongoing conflicts but also made a generous donation in partnership with Dr. Nnenna Njoku, Country Chairperson of the Women Economic Forum. This act of solidarity symbolized international support for Nigeria's humanitarian efforts, countering narratives of isolation and insecurity.

Further meetings with top Nigerian officials, including the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda; Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu; Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti; Senator Uche Ekwunife CON; Hon. Barr. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, Minister of Regional Development; and Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, focused on economic development, regional cooperation, and poverty alleviation. These discussions highlighted Nigeria's governance structures and ongoing reforms, portraying the nation as an active participant in global problem-solving rather than a passive recipient of aid.

Reinforcing Confidence in Safety and Security

A core objective of the hosting was to reassure the international community about Nigeria's safety and security landscape. Dr. Hall-Long's ability to travel freely across key sites, from government offices in Abuja, A visit to Umuahia, Abia State and a visit to the Centenary City project, a showcase of modern urban planning, served as a live testament to the country's stability. The delegation's engagements with the Spouses of Governors Forum and the Nigeria Air Force Wives Forum emphasized women's empowerment and leadership, areas where Nigeria has made strides despite adversities. Additionally, participation in the Empowered Women Summit, co-organized by the Women Economic Forum Nigeria Chapter and partners, brought together over 200 women leaders, entrepreneurs, and youth advocates. Outcomes included tangible support, such as donating two plots of land to indigent women and distributing bags of rice, which underscored community-level progress.

Through facilitating these interactions without incident, Ambassador Nwachukwu effectively demonstrated that Nigeria can host international figures securely, even in areas proximate to humanitarian hotspots like IDP camps. This is particularly significant given travel advisories that often caution against visits to certain regions. The visit's success sends a clear message: Nigeria is not defined solely by its challenges but by its capacity for secure, collaborative endeavors that foster peace and justice.

Lasting Impacts and Broader Implications

The outcomes of Dr. Hall-Long's visit extend beyond symbolism. They include commitments to ongoing partnerships between Delaware and Nigeria in education, gender equality, and humanitarian aid, with potential for increased U.S. investment in Nigerian initiatives.

*Ambassador Nwachukwu described the engagement as a "profound gratitude and national pride," emphasizing its role in advancing SDGs and uplifting vulnerable populations. In a time when negative press can erode investor confidence, such visits act as endorsements, encouraging other nations to re-engage with Nigeria.*

Ambassador Timothy Nwachukwu's hosting of Dr. Bethany Hall-Long represents a masterful exercise in soft diplomacy. In aligning the visit with global development goals while addressing Nigeria's image deficits head-on, it has helped to mitigate the impact of adverse international coverage. As Nigeria continues to navigate its complexities, initiatives like this reinforce the narrative of a secure, forward-looking nation ready to partner with the world. This not only boosts domestic morale but also paves the way for stronger international ties, proving that positive engagements can indeed turn the tide of perception.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu Commends Foreign Affairs Minister Tuggar for Landmark Signing of Regional Partnership for Democracy (RPD) Programme

Ambassador Timothy Nwachukwu LLB (Hons), the Coordinator of Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Office under the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement, has issued a resounding commendation to the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, for the landmark signing of the Regional Partnership for Democracy (RPD) Programme, a collaborative effort between Nigeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The signing ceremony, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, marks Nigeria's formal commitment to a robust, multi-national framework designed to strengthen democratic institutions, promote good governance, and foster political stability across the West African region.

In a statement from his office, Amb. Nwachukwu described the RPD as "a visionary foreign policy instrument that aligns seamlessly with the core tenets of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)." He emphasized that this move by the Minister is not merely a diplomatic achievement but a strategic investment in Nigeria's future and the prosperity of its youth demographic.

"This is precisely the kind of forward-thinking, governance-focused leadership we champion at the SDGs Office," stated Amb. Nwachukwu. "While our work often focuses on domestic implementation, we recognize that a stable, democratic, and cooperative regional environment is the bedrock upon which sustainable development is built. The Minister's action today has effectively laid a crucial piece of that foundation."

Amb. Nwachukwu outlined several critical benefits of the Regional Partnership for Democracy, framing them through the lens of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development:

SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions - This is the most direct alignment. The RPD programme will provide technical support, knowledge exchange, and resource sharing to bolster judicial independence, electoral integrity, and anti-corruption frameworks. Stronger institutions directly translate to more effective delivery of public services and protection of citizens' rights.

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – The RPD is the embodiment of this goal through fostering regional cooperation, it creates a collaborative platform for member states to share best practices on SDG implementation, from climate action to quality education, ensuring no nation is left behind.

SDG 4: Quality Education & SDG 8: Decent Work – "A stable democracy is a prerequisite for a thriving economy and a functional educational system," Nwachukwu noted. "Political instability disrupts academic calendars and scares away investment. In securing democracy, we are safeguarding the classrooms where our future leaders are trained and creating the economic opportunities they deserve upon graduation."

SDG 5: Gender Equality – The programme includes specific provisions to support the participation of women in political processes and governance. This empowers half of the population to contribute to national development, a key multiplier effect for achieving all SDGs.

Foundational Stability for All Goals – Amb. Nwachukwu stressed that progress on any SDG, from zero hunger to good health is exponentially harder in an environment of political turmoil, conflict, or weak governance. The RPD acts as a preventative measure, securing the peace necessary for development projects to take root and flourish.

The Coordinator concluded by affirming the commitment of the SDGs Office, particularly through its student engagement mandate, to educating the next generation of leaders on the intrinsic link between democratic values and sustainable development.

"The Nigerian student is a key stakeholder in this pact. We will ensure they understand that this diplomatic signature is not an abstract concept; it is a commitment to shaping a region where their talents can be fully realized without fear of instability. We commend the Minister of Foreign Affairs for this courageous and insightful step," he said.

PoliticsProgressive Staff Forum Slams Plot To Destabilize National Assembly by Peoplesadvocate(op): 5:03pm On Sep 27, 2025
Progressive Staff Forum Slams Plot to Destabilize National Assembly, Urges Security Agencies to Intervene*

The Progressive Staff Forum (PSF), a vocal caucus comprising of members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), in the National Assembly, has sounded the alarm on what it describes as a “dangerous conspiracy” by a faction of disgruntled National Assembly staff members who are conspiring to undermine the stability of Nigeria's legislative arm, calling on key security agencies to intervene decisively.

According to Comrade Isah Mohammed, the coordinator of the Progressive Stafd Forum, He described the alleged plotters as a small group of staff members who refers to themselves as “concerned staff” but in reality they "willing tools" being manipulated by external sponsors who previously failed in their bid to oust Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the current National Assembly leadership. The group claims these agitators, frustrated by unsuccessful attempts to topple the leadership earlier this year, are now resorting to internal sabotage using sympathetic staff to incite chaos and disrupt proceedings.

“We have credible intelligence that these elements are preparing to employ intimidation tactics, including the use of hired thugs and coercive force, to block the entry of legislators and staff into the Assembly Complex,” the statement reads. Their ultimate objective is to force the resignation of the current leadership and to create a power vacuum that could be exploited for personal and political gain.”*

"This is a desperate move by those who could not achieve their anti-democratic goals through legitimate channels, Having failed to remove Senator Akpabio, the masterminds behind these schemes are now weaponizing a handful of aggrieved staff to destabilize the hallowed chambers of the National Assembly. We will not allow this treachery to succeed."

The Progressive Staff Forum representing a significant bloc of committed parliamentary workers, described the plotters as "willing tools" manipulated by shadowy sponsors intent on undermining the institution's stability.

"We warn that these plotters are now recruiting impressionable staff as pawns in their destabilization agenda," the statement continued. "Their ulterior motive is clear: to paralyze the National Assembly at a time when Nigeria needs legislative focus on critical issues like economic recovery and security.

The progressive stated that the plotters are hell bent on sabotaging Barr. Kamoru Ogunlana, the Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA) despite his unprecedented commitment to staff welfare. The plot involves orchestrating a high stakes violent picketing of the National Assembly complex, with the explicit aim of shutting down operations and toppling the broader leadership structure.

*The progressives asserts that Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), has already taken steps to address genuine staff grievances through dialogue with Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana, the clerk of the National Assembly, who has demonstrated an unprecedented commitment to the well being of every staff member.*

*"Barr. Ogunlana has already taken concrete steps to address the genuine concerns of staff, "Yet, these so-called aggrieved elements, backed by external forces, are hell bent on derailing progress through violent means."*

The progressives Staff explicitly urged the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to heighten vigilance and act "swiftly and decisively" against the plotters before their plans materialize. "Security agencies must be on red alert. These sponsors and their proxies pose a clear and present danger to our democracy. Any attempt to hatch this plot will be met with the full weight of the law," the statement added.
PoliticsEzeuzu Awka Palace Replies Lord Zues Over Fraudulent Claim by Peoplesadvocate(op): 1:52pm On Sep 13, 2025
*PRESS STATEMENT FROM THE PALACE OF HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY OBI DR. AUSTIN NDIGWE, MON, JP, EZE UZU III, OBI OF AWKA KINGDOM*

*SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON THE CAMPAIGN OF CALUMNY BY CONTENT CREATOR LORD ZEUS REGARDING HIS MAJESTY'S DONATION TO MR. CHIKA, A YOUNG MAN HOSPITALIZED WITH KIDNEY FAILURE*

*September 13, 2025,
Awka, Anambra State.*

The Palace of His Imperial Majesty Obi Dr. Austin Ndigwe, MON, JP, Eze Uzu III, Obi of Awka Kingdom, wishes to address and unequivocally refute the baseless allegations and malicious campaign of calumny orchestrated by the online content creator known as Lord Zeus.

These baseless claims pertain to His Majesty's philanthropic support for a young man from Awka Kingdom who is reportedly suffering from kidney failure. It is imperative to set the record straight to protect the integrity of His Majesty's longstanding commitment to philanthropy, inform the public of the true facts surrounding the matter and to safeguard the public from potential deceit.

His Imperial Majesty is a renowned philanthropist whose charitable works through his foundation are well documented and widely recognized. For years, His Majesty has consistently demonstrated his dedication to uplifting the less privileged in his kingdom and beyond, These acts of benevolence are driven by a genuine desire to alleviate suffering and foster community welfare, without any expectation of recognition or reciprocity.

*Notably, his donations are extended to the public three times annually: during His Majesty's festival celebrations, birthdays, and the Christmas season. Over the years, His Majesty has visited hospitals to pay medical bills for patients, visited orphanage for donations, provided free medical treatments, awarded scholarships to indigent students, and generously donated food items and wrappers to widows in Awka Kingdom. These acts of kindness are performed transparently and with the utmost accountability, reflecting His Majesty's unwavering principles of integrity and compassion.*

It came to His Majesty's attention through a video shared online by Lord Zeus that a young man from Awka Kingdom was hospitalized in Niger Foundation Hospital Enugu due to kidney failure and in need of assistance.

In line with his philanthropic ethos, His Majesty promptly reached out to the young man to offer support after inquiry about his parents who were unavailable except his sister who was with him at the time his Majesty reached out and made his intentions to support him known.

*In line with established protocols to ensure funds are used appropriately for medical purposes, His Majesty requested the young man's medical report and the bank account details of Niger Foundation Hospital independence Layout Enugu where he was receiving treatment. Regrettably, the young man refused to provide this essential information.*

*His Majesty wishes to emphasize unequivocally that he does not donate funds to individual personal accounts. All contributions for medical aid are directed solely to verified hospital accounts to guarantee transparency and proper utilization.*

*Despite the lack of cooperation, His Majesty personally visited the young man in the hospital and made an immediate donation of half a million Naira (N500,000).*

*At no time did the young man or his sister dispute that the cost was 3 million, rather the sister through a voice message affirmed that the cost was 3 million naira.*

*Furthermore, His Majesty requested the bank account details of the Zenith hospital Abuja where the young man claimed he would undergo kidney transplant surgery, with the intention of providing additional support directly to the hospital account.*

Instead of furnishing the required medical report or the hospital's account details, the young man provided an account bearing the name of Lord Zeus, which is unrelated to any medical institution. Subsequently, the young man launched into unfounded accusations, claiming that His Majesty had failed to fulfill a purported promise to pay 45 million Naira for his kidney transplant.

His Imperial Majesty wishes to state categorically and without ambiguity that no such promise was ever made to pay 45 million Naira or any specific amount for the transplant.

Moreover, His Majesty has never spoken with or engaged the content creator Lord Zeus in any capacity regarding this matter. These accusations are entirely fabricated and appear designed to tarnish His Majesty's reputation while exploiting public sympathy for personal gain.

*It is unfortunate that this incident appears to follow a troubling pattern observed among certain content creators and self-proclaimed activists who exploit public sympathy for personal gain.*

*For instance, Harrison Gwamnishu was previously exposed for soliciting donations from Nigerians under the pretense of kidney failure, only for it to be revealed that the funds were intended for purchasing a new jeep. He later apologized and offered refunds after the public demanded verifiable medical reports.*

*More recently, Okwulora Ndigbo faced accusations of diverting donations collected on behalf of another kidney failure victim, and to date, he has refused to disclose his bank statements to account for the funds, which he claimed were transferred to alleged kidnappers.*

*In light of these developments, His Imperial Majesty calls upon relevant security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to investigate Lord Zeus and his activities. Soliciting public funds without verifiable medical reports and under a veil of secrecy risks deceiving innocent and hardworking Nigerians. Such practices must be scrutinized to prevent fraud and ensure that genuine philanthropic efforts are not undermined.*

*The Palace urges the public to exercise caution and discernment when responding to online appeals for donations, particularly those amplified by content creators. This is a calculated blackmail from desperate and fraudulent content creators who are bent on hoodwinking and extorting innocent and gullible Nigerians.

*His Imperial Majesty remains steadfast in his commitment to genuine philanthropy and His Majesty continues to champion transparent and impactful philanthropy for the benefit of all through transparent and accountable channels.*

All further attempts to spread falsehoods and defame His Majesty will be met with appropriate legal action to safeguard his honor and the dignity of the throne.

*Signed,*

PoliticsEbonyi Ambassadors Raise Scam Alert Over State Government Endorsement by Peoplesadvocate(op): 5:48pm On Sep 04, 2025
*SCAM ALERT:*

*EBONYI AMBASSADORS QUESTION EBONYI EXECUTIVE COUNCIL'S ENDORSEMENT OF $1 BILLION GRANT FROM ALBION-EMPIRE AND AFFILIATES*

*The Ebonyi Ambassadors Movement (EBAM), has raised concerns over the recent endorsement by the Ebonyi State Executive Council (EXCO) of a purported $1 billion grant from Albion-Empire and Affiliates, an organization with no verifiable history of such large-scale grants.*

*The group has called for transparency and due diligence, citing a lack of publicly available information about the organization and its funding activities.*

The controversy stems from a recent announcement following an EXCO meeting, where the state government, led by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, reportedly approved the acceptance of a $1 billion grant from Albion-Empire and Affiliates.

The grant is said to be aimed at transformative infrastructural and economic development projects in Ebonyi State, including advancements in agriculture, healthcare, and technology. However, the Ebonyi Ambassadors have expressed skepticism, pointing to the absence of any documented history of Albion-Empire and Affiliates in global or regional grant-making.

*The President of Ebonyi Ambassadors Movement, Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu, questioned the legitimacy of the grant and urged the state government to provide clarity.*

*“We are deeply concerned about the lack of transparency surrounding this so-called $1 billion grant. There is no record of Albion-Empire and Affiliates in any credible database of international donors or philanthropies. The people of Ebonyi deserve to know the origins of this funding and the terms attached to it,” Nwachukwu said.*

"Investigations have so far failed to uncover any credible information about Albion-Empire and Affiliates. Unlike established organizations such as Bill gates Foundation or the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which has disbursed over $100 million to African entrepreneurs since 2015, Albion-Empire and Affiliates appears to have no public footprint in philanthropy or development funding. The lack of a website, published financial reports, or references in global grant databases has fueled further doubts"... Nwachukwu said.*

The Ebonyi Ambassadors have also called for an independent audit of the proposed grant, referencing past instances where promised funds failed to materialize or were mired in controversy. The group cited the need to protect the state’s economic interests, especially given Ebonyi’s status as one of Nigeria’s poorest states, where such a significant influx of funds could have a transformative impact if legitimate.

*The Ebonyi Ambassadors Initiative urged the state government to make public the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Albion-Empire and Affiliates and to involve stakeholders in verifying the organization’s credentials. They also called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the matter to prevent potential financial mismanagement.*

HON. EMMANUEL IKE NWOBOSI CALLS FOR COLLECTIVE ACTION FROM SOUTH EAST GOVERNORS TO END INSECURITY AND YOUTH RESTIVENESS

Hon. Emmanuel Ike Nwobosi, the Estwhile Senior Special Assistant to Anambra State Governor on Internally Generated Revenue and son of the late Colonel Emmanuel Nwobosi, has urged South East governors to unite in a robust, collective strategy to tackle the escalating insecurity and youth restiveness plaguing the region.

Speaking while receiving a cross section of South East Youths who paid him a visit in Abuja, Nwobosi emphasized that the persistent violence and economic stagnation in the South East demand urgent, coordinated action from the region's leadership.

Nwobosi highlighted the growing incidents of kidnappings, attacks, arson and unrest in states like Anambra, Imo, Enugu, and Abia, which have disrupted economic activities and instilled fear among residents.

He called on the South East Governors Forum (SEGF) to move beyond rhetoric and implement actionable solutions, including youth empowerment programs and enhanced security measures. “The governors must work together, not as individuals, but as a united front to restore peace and create opportunities for our youth,” Nwobosi stated.

Drawing inspiration from past regional successes, such as the economic growth under M.I. Okpara’s leadership in the former Eastern Nigeria, Nwobosi urged governors to support initiatives like the South East Development Commission (SEDC).

He stressed that empowering the youth through education, skills acquisition, and job creation is critical to curbing restiveness and reducing the allure of criminal activities. “Our young people are not the problem; they are the solution if given the right opportunities and orientation,” he added.

Nwobosi also called for stronger collaboration with the federal government, echoing sentiments from previous regional leaders who have sought President Bola Tinubu’s intervention to address security challenges. He commended recent efforts, such as Abia and Enugu State’s restructuring of its Forest Guard but emphasized that isolated actions are insufficient without a regional framework.

Nwobosi urged the governors to prioritize the welfare of Ndigbo over political differences and to engage stakeholders, including traditional rulers, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and youth groups, in crafting a sustainable roadmap for peace and prosperity. “The time for promises is over; our people deserve action,”.

He also called on Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, to look critically into the recent activities of the Udo ga chi security outfit he created, stating that their excesses were unbecoming. If we are serious to end insecurity in the South East, we will in less than a month, he concluded.

*YOUR DONATION OF VEHICLES TO NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MEMBERS IS A MISPLACED PRIORITY:*

*...AMB. TIMOTHY NWACHUKWU TELLS EBONYI GOVERNOR*

*Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu, renowned SDGs advocate and the president of Ebonyi Ambassadors Movement, has called out Ebonyi State governor Francis Nwifuru over the recent donation of brand new vehicles to members of the National Assembly representing the state. The SDGs champion views the move as a misplaced priority, given the dire needs of the state and its citizens.*

In a statement released to the press, Amb. Nwachukwu expressed his shock and disappointment at the governor's decision. He questioned the wisdom behind rewarding lawmakers with expensive cars when the state grapples with pressing issues of poverty, poor infrastructure, and inadequate social services.

*"We have communities without access to clean water, students studying in dilapidated classrooms, and patients dying in understaffed and under-equipped hospitals. Is this really the time to splurge on luxuries for a select few?" Nwachukwu asked, his voice thick with frustration.*

He further noted that the gesture is not only a wasteful expenditure but also an affront to the sensibilities of the Ebonyi people, who are yearning for meaningful development. "Our people are crying out for improved infrastructure, quality education, and healthcare. Instead of addressing these pressing needs, the government is busy squandering resources on frivolous projects," he lamented.

The SDGs advocate pointed out that such misguided priorities undermined the very essence of the Sustainable Development Goals. He emphasized that the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development calls for transformative change, moving from incremental improvement towards bold and ambitious goals. However, actions like these reinforce the status quo of inequality and inefficiency.

Nwachukwu urged Governor Nwifuru to reconsider his decision and reallocate the resources towards the people's most pressing needs. "Invest in our schools, our healthcare system, and our infrastructure. Empower our farmers with support and training. Provide opportunities for our young people to break the cycle of poverty. These are the things that will truly move Ebonyi State forward."

*The SDGs champion also appealed to the National Assembly members to stand with the people and return the vehicles. He called on them to set an example by prioritizing the welfare of their constituents over personal gain.*

PoliticsSuspend Your Corrupt Ssg Grace Umezurike For Diversion Of Billions Of Naira by Peoplesadvocate(op): 8:34am On Jul 22, 2025
*SUSPEND YOUR CORRUPT SSG GRACE UMEZURIKE FOR DIVERSION OF BILLIONS OF NAIRA EARMARKED FOR EBONYI WORKERS:*

*...AMB TIMOTHY NWACHUKWU TELLS EBONYI GOVERNOR*

*Ambassador Timothy Nwachukwu, the President of Ebonyi Ambassadors Movement and a Sustainable Development Goals Advocate has strongly urged the Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru to immediately suspend the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Grace Umezurike, over the alleged diversion of N2.5 billion from the 4 billion naira earmarked for the procurement of rice for Ebonyi workers. This weighty demand comes as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) successfully obtained a court order for the forfeiture of the said sum, which was discovered in the SSG's account.*

Ambassador Nwachukwu, a prominent voice on governance and accountability, did not mince words in his call for decisive action, cautioning the Governor against any attempt to abet corruption.

In a statement released to the press, Ambassador Nwachukwu emphasized that the EFCC's action, culminating in a court order for the forfeiture of the over two billion naira traced to the six account belonging to the SSG' and her aide Ngene Nwanna Onyeabor, serves as undeniable evidence of financial impropriety.

"The Governor must, without further delay, suspend his corrupt SSG for the glaring diversion of of funds meant for the purchase and distribution of rice to Ebonyi State Civil Servants," Nwachukwu declared, stressing the need for immediate investigation and accountability.

The EFCC's successful acquisition of a court order for the forfeiture of such a substantial sum traced to a public official's account underscores the gravity of the allegations.

The anti-graft agency's move indicates a preliminary judicial finding that the funds are proceeds of illicit activities and we're illegally acquired. Public eyes are now fixed on the Ebonyi State government to see its response to these damning revelations.

*Ambassador Nwachukwu further cautioned the Governor against any perceived protection or complicity, warning that such actions would have severe repercussions for the state's reputation and the administration's integrity.*

*"Abetting corruption would have dire consequences for the state and its people," he stated, reminding the Governor of his oath to uphold the law and fight graft.*

The funds were said to have been earmarked by the Ebonyi State Government for purchasing bags of rice for the people of the state during the 2024 Christmas celebration but was diverted from the treasury of the Ebonyi State Government to six different accounts domiciled in United Bank for Africa (UBA).

The commission said that while four of the UBA accounts were owned by the SSG, one of them, which belongs to the aide, had N1.014 billion diverted to it. The sixth account was opened with the account name: Affordable Multi Services Nigeria Limited.

This development places significant pressure on the Ebonyi State government to demonstrate its commitment to transparency and good governance as the call for the SSG's suspension is not just a demand for administrative action but a plea for the restoration of public trust in a state grappling with various developmental challenges.

Tajudeen Abbas, delivered a keynote lecture on strategic security to participants from the Royal College of Defence Studies and the National Defence College in Abuja.*

The event, held at the prestigious National Defence College in Abuja, underscores the growing importance of partnerships between Nigeria's legislative arm and its defense institutions. As global security challenges evolve, such collaborations are seen as vital for fostering peace, stability, and sustainable development in Nigeria and beyond.

Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, a seasoned politician and advocate for national security reforms, addressed an audience comprising senior military officers, diplomats, and defense experts from both the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS) in the United Kingdom and the National Defence College (NDC) in Nigeria.

The keynote lecture titled, "National Resilience and Security in the 21st Century," Speaker Abbas stressed the need for better border controls, noting that the present porous nature of Nigerian borders exposes the country to eventualities in other West-African countries.

“For Nigeria, porous borders mean its security is inseparable from that of its neighbours. Continued support for joint patrols, the standby force concept, and regional initiatives, such as grazing corridors, will strengthen resilience across West Africa and at home,” he said.

Speaking on Africa and the Economic Community of West African States, and the regional context of resilience and security, the Speaker noted that national resilience and security are profoundly influenced by regional dynamics in Africa and within the ECOWAS.

The Speaker stressed that ECOWAS has repeatedly acted to contain crises, deploying missions in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast, and leading the 2017 Gambian intervention to uphold election results under Nigerian leadership. He said: “A wave of recent coups now tests the sub-region’s commitment to constitutional governance, prompting sanctions, negotiations, and proposals for a dedicated ECOWAS standby force to deter unlawful power seizures.”

The Speaker's lecture exemplifies how our legislative bodies can drive policy innovations that support both national security and global agendas like the SDGs."

Timothy Nwachukwu, the National Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Goals Council, Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Students Engagement, (SDGsC- OSSAP-SE) has rallied support for Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris, the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children. Nwachukwu while speaking on Aso Television Abuja emphasized the urgent need for state governors and local government chairmen to collaborate with the commission, highlighting its critical role in tackling one of Nigeria's most pressing social challenges.*

In his statement, Nwachukwu called on governors and local government chairmen to
support the efforts of Dr. Idris and the commission, by leveraging their resources for state-specific programs, such as building Almajiri-integrated schools, providing teacher training, and launching awareness campaigns as this will not only addresses immediate educational gaps but also contributes to long-term national stability by reducing youth unemployment and social unrest.

He appealed to them to view this as an opportunity to demonstrate leadership and commitment to the nation's future. "Every child deserves an education that prepares them for a better tomorrow," Nwachukwu stated, urging immediate steps such as allocating budgets for educational reforms and engaging community stakeholders.

The call for support echoes broader concerns raised by international organizations like UNICEF and the World Bank, which have identified out-of-school children as a major obstacle to Nigeria's development. Experts argue that investing in these vulnerable groups could yield significant returns, including a more skilled workforce and reduced inequality.

The National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children was established to address the widespread issue of children who are excluded from formal education systems, particularly in Northern Nigeria. The Almajiri system, a traditional Islamic educational framework, has historically provided Quranic instruction but often leaves young learners vulnerable to poverty, exploitation, and a lack of modern skills. According to recent statistics from the United Nations reports, over 10 million children in Nigeria are out of school, with a significant portion being Almajiri students who face barriers such as inadequate infrastructure, funding shortages, and societal neglect.

Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris, as the Executive Secretary, has been at the forefront of efforts to reform this system. Under his leadership, the commission is working on initiatives that integrate traditional Almajiri education with formal schooling, providing vocational training, nutrition programs, and community outreach to ensure these children can access quality education and break the cycle of poverty. This aligns with the broader goals of the SDGs, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 1 (No Poverty), which aim to leave no one behind.

*"We want to encourage students to apply for the NELFUND loan to save their parents the heavy burden of school fees. The loan is meant to be a helping hand for families who cannot afford to pay their children's school fees," Lawal emphasized.*

To be eligible for the loan, Lawal said an applicant must be a Nigerian, be a regular student admitted to an approved institution of higher learning in Nigeria, and must have a means of identification as a student as stipulated in NELFUND Act.

He disclosed that the loans are specially for for tuition fees, while the monthly allowance will take care of books and other essential student costs, he added that the loan amount varies depending on the level of study and the course of study.

*The NELFUND board member assured that the application process is transparent and merit-based, with no room for favouritism or nepotism. He encouraged all eligible students to visit the NELFUND website on https://nelf.gov.ng and to fill the application form with all required documents.*

*Lawal expressed optimism that the NELFUND will go a long way in reducing the high rate of school dropouts due to inability to pay school fees, and will help to ensure that millions of Nigerian children, including those from poor backgrounds, have access to quality education.*

He commended President Tinubu led Federal Government for the initiative, saying it is a step in the right direction towards achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal number four, which seeks to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

*"Education is a vital tool for liberating the human mind and empowering individuals to realize their full potential. It is the bedrock of any nation's development," Lawal remarked.*

He expressed the hope that similar initiatives will be replicated across all sectors, including health, agriculture and infrastructure development, to fast-track Nigeria's economic growth and development.

PoliticsAmb Timothy Nwachukwu Warns Judges Against Aiding Corruption In Nigeria by Peoplesadvocate(op): 1:32pm On Mar 16, 2025
*UN AGENDA 2030 ANTI- CORRUPTION WAR:*

*AMB TIMOTHY NWACHUKWU WARNS JUDGES AGAINST AIDING CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA THROUGH FRIVOLOUS COURT ORDERS AND JUDGEMENTS.*

Following the Supreme Court's approval for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate Dr. Peter Odili's tenure as Governor of Rivers State. Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu, National Coordinator, of the Presidency, Sustainable Development Goals Council- Office Of the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Students Engagement has warned judges in the country against aiding corruption through frivolous court orders and judgments.

In a statement released after the Supreme Court judgment, Amb. Nwachukwu commended the apex court for upholding the rule of law and not succumbing to pressure to frustrate the EFCC's anti-corruption war. He described the development as a victory for the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

The SDGs Council National Coordinator frowned at the tendency of some judges to grant frivolous orders and judgments to high profile corruption suspects, thereby frustrating the efforts of anti-graft agencies. He warned that such acts undermine the integrity of the judiciary and jeopardize the country's quest for sustainable development.

Nigeria's judiciary is expected to be a bastion of hope and the last hope of the common man. But the actions of some judges in recent times do not inspire hope. They have become instruments in the hands of corrupt elements to perpetuate impunity and evade justice.

Amb. Nwachukwu charged judges to be above board and avoid compromising the integrity of the judiciary. He urged them to always dispense justice without fear or favor, especially in corruption cases involving high-profile suspects.

"The Supreme Court's approval for EFCC to prosecute Dr. Peter Odili is a ray of hope. It sends a clear message that no one is above the law, no matter how highly placed. But more still needs to be done. The lower courts must also do their part by not granting frivolous orders that hinder the anti-corruption war".

"Nigeria needs a judiciary that is corruption-free and never aides corruption. A judiciary that upholds the rule of law and dispenses justice with integrity is essential for achieving sustainable development goals. That is why we will continue to monitor the judiciary and speak out against any act that undermines its integrity" Nwachukwu said.

Amb. Nwachukwu commended the EFCC for their determination to fight corruption. He urged Nigerians to continue to support the anti-graft agencies and report cases of corruption. He expressed confidence that with a judiciary that is committed to upholding the rule of law, Nigeria will overcome corruption and achieve sustainable development.

The legal dispute took off in 2007 when Odili, who served as Rivers State governor from 1999 to 2007, obtained an order of perpetual injunction from the Federal High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt barring the EFCC from investigating, arresting, or prosecuting Odili, as well as prohibiting the anti-graft agency from examining the finances of the Rivers State Government during his tenure. Though the EFCC has contested the injunction since 2008, the order has effectively shielded Odili from any scrutiny by the Commission for nearly two decades.

PoliticsAssets Declaration: An Anti Corruption Tool For Achieving Sustainable Developmen by Peoplesadvocate(op): 12:18am On Mar 05, 2025
*ASSETS DECLARATION: AN ANTI CORRUPTION TOOL FOR ACHIEVING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS*

By Timothy Nwachukwu, National Coordinator, SDGs National Students Council

In recent years, Nigeria has faced numerous challenges that jeopardize its developmental aspirations and the integrity of its public institutions. Among these challenges are corruption, lack of transparency, and the erosion of public trust in governance. One crucial step in addressing these issues lies in the asset declaration by public office holders. This practice, which mandates officials to disclose their assets and financial interests, is vital for promoting accountability, transparency, and good governance in Nigeria.

Asset declaration serves as a regulatory measure requiring public officials to publicly disclose their assets and liabilities at the beginning and end of their tenures. This process is intended to prevent corruption, promote ethical conduct, and ensure that officeholders do not enrich themselves at the expense of the public good. In Nigeria, the Legal Framework for asset declaration is established by the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, which outlines the roles and responsibilities of public officials regarding the declaration of their assets.

Despite the presence of regulations, the enforcement of asset declaration in Nigeria remains a significant challenge. Many public officials fail to comply with the requirements, and investigations into undisclosed assets often yield little to no accountability. A culture of impunity has developed, where the consequences for failing to declare assets are either non-existent or insufficiently enforced. This lack of accountability not only emboldens corrupt practices but also discourages honest public servants from acting in the best interests of the people.

The implications of non-compliance with asset declaration laws are profound. When public officials do not fully declare their assets, it creates a breeding ground for corruption. This lack of transparency contributes to a system where misappropriation of public funds flourishes. Furthermore, without a clear understanding of the financial positions of public office holders, it becomes challenging to trace illicit enrichment. Such practices lead to a loss of faith in government institutions, as citizens perceive public officials as self-serving rather than dedicated stewards of the public trust.

Implementing a robust asset declaration system can yield several benefits for Nigeria. Firstly, it would enhance transparency and accountability in governance. The government can foster a culture of openness that dissuades corrupt practices through asset declarations. Furthermore, a transparent asset declaration process can facilitate the identification and prosecution of officials who engage in corrupt activities.

Secondly, transparency in asset declarations can contribute to the effective allocation of resources. When the financial status of public officials is known, it becomes easier to identify inconsistencies and assess whether those in power are using public resources for personal gain.

*For asset declaration to be effective in Nigeria, several steps must be taken:*
Strengthening Legal Frameworks: There is a need to enhance the legal frameworks surrounding asset declaration. This includes increasing penalties for non-compliance and establishing clear guidelines for disclosure.

Building Public Awareness: Awareness campaigns can empower citizens to demand accountability from their leaders. Informed citizens are essential for a functioning democracy, and educating the public about the importance of asset declaration can encourage active participation in governance.

Utilizing Technology: Leveraging technology can streamline the asset declaration process. Online platforms for asset submission and public access can make the process more efficient and transparent.

Political Will: Ultimately, the success of asset declaration in Nigeria hinges on the political will of those in power. Leaders must commit to upholding the principles of transparency and accountability, setting a precedent for future office holders.

The importance of asset declaration by public office holders in Nigeria cannot be overstated. By ensuring that public officials disclose their assets, we can create a more accountable government that prioritizes the interests of the people.

*As the National Coordinator of the SDGs National Students Council, Office Of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement, I call on government at all levels, civil society, and citizens alike to advocate for and implement stringent asset declaration practices. Together, we can work towards a Nigeria characterized by transparency, integrity, and good governance—foundations upon which sustainable development can thrive.*
