PoliticsSubsidy Removal: Yapjen Backs Tinubu by Peoplesadvocate(op): 8:51am On May 31, 2023
SUBSIDY REMOVAL: YAPJEN BACKS TINUBU

A global goals, good governance and anti-corruption advocacy organisation,YAPJEN has commended the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for its decision to remove petroleum subsidy and it's resolve to channel the funds to the building, upgrading and developing of infrastructure, improving education and health care delivery system in Nigeria.

Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu, The Executive Director, YAPJEN said that removal of subsidy will enable the government to channel Nigeria's resources towards programs, projects and infrastructure that will engander the achievement of the United Nations Global Goals.

He described Fuel subsidy as a policy of previous government which was intended to assist the citizens to pay less than the pump price per litre of petroleum product but unfortunately, turned to become a conduit pipe of corruption through which the collective wealth of the state was siphoned and unaccounted for while the citizens continued to pay a higher cost of petroleum products while available records as provided by NEITI revealed that Nigeria spent over N13 trillion ($74 billion) on fuel subsidies between 2005 and 2021.

Amb Timothy Nwachukwu stated that despite generating billions of dollars in oil revenue, Nigeria has been unable to translate it into an improved welfare condition for the citizens while fuel subsidy created leeway for the criminally- minded elite to squander the commonwealth while successive governments demonstrated little or no political will to stem the decay in the oil sector, as underlined by the reluctance to prosecute oil thieves, some of whom are directly or indirectly connected to the apparatus of the state.

He further blamed corruption, inefficiencies, smuggling mismanagement, abuse of national monopoly powers and excessive subsidizing the supply of refined crude oil products in the country as the reason for the intractable economic development that has worsened the plight of ordinary Nigerians.

The Executive Director of YAPJEN appealed to Nigerians to endure the momentarily pain occasioned by the removal of subsidy as private Refineries like the Dangote and other modular Refineries across the country will bridge the gap in meeting the ever increasing local demand of petroleum products and for exportation purposes.

Amb. Nwachukwu further
called on President Tinubu to strengthen the fight against corruption and establish a regulatory framework to protect citizens as necessary measures to help improve the poor state of Nigeria’s economy.

PoliticsIndependence Of The Legislature Will Strengthen Nigeria's Democracy.... Yapjen by Peoplesadvocate(op):
INDEPENDENCE OF THE LEGISLATURE WILL STRENGTHEN NIGERIA'S DEMOCRACY.... YAPJEN

Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu, The Executive Director of Youth Advocates For Peace Justice And Empowerment Network (YAPJEN), A Global Goals, Good governance and Human Rights Advocacy Organisation, while speaking on a live television broadcast on Kaftan Television Abuja called on Nigeria's National Assembly members elect to exert the independence of the legislature by electing among themselves the most competent lawmakers without corruption baggages and interference of the Executive as their principal officers to strengthen Nigeria's democratic process.

He explained that under the Nigerian constitution, there are three branches of government: the executive, the legislature, and the judiciary, while the three arms have their functions cut out for them by the constitution, they exist to complement one another and are not expected to operate as standalone bodies or foes.

He emphasized that democracy is built on the independence of the three equal arms, namely Executive, Legislature and Judiciary and hence it thrives on the principle of checks and balances. Thus, having a country that works for all requires synergy and collaboration between the Legislature and the Executive, which will ultimately bring about good governance for the country.

Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu observed the interference and intrusion into the legislature by the executive arm of the government by earmarking and anointing a leadership for the presidency of the senate made up of 109 senators and a speaker for the House of Representatives made up of 360 elected representatives from different political parties which serves as the melting pot of Nigeria’s democracy.

He warned that a legislature leadership appointed by the executive arm of the government cannot checkmate the excesss of the executive or carry out its constitutionally assigned oversight function which include monitoring, reviewing scrutinizing and evaluating the performance of the executive arm of government or its agencies on a continuous basis to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and good performance.

He restated that where the leadership of the legislature is appointed by the executive, such legislative arm becomes an appendage of the executive commonly referred to as rubber stamp’ parliament. Thus, its resolutions would ultimately be ignored and sometimes its summons will not be obeyed by members of the executive branch of government.

X-raying the outgoing 9th Assembly, Amb. Nwachukwu observed that the leadership of the Senate and the House of Representatives worked in partnership with the executive arm, even when their cooperation portrayed the two legislative houses as rubber stamp by approving foreign and local loans for the executive without due deligence and oversight, thus plunging the nation into a debt ridden crisis that may take decades for Nigeria to exit.

He advised that the newly elected and re-elected lawmakers should elect a principal officers that will not pander to the whim and caprices of the executive but would rather be responsible, responsive, accountable and answerable to the generality of Nigerians whose mandate they hold in trust.

...CHIEF TONY OFFIAH ADVISES NIGERIAN YOUTHS.

A Nigerian Patriot, Astute Entrepreneur and Human Capacity Development Czar, Chief Tony Offia (Akajiugo Uga, Akunne Aguata) The Founder Tony Offiah Foundation has advised Nigerian youths to leverage on the power of social Media and unite Nigerians across ethno-religious divide rather than using it as a tool for disintegration and promotion of ethnicity and bigotry.

Chief Offiah, The Executive Chairman of Chester Fries Ltd gave this advise while x-raying the recent political developments in Nigeria appealed to the Nigerian youths to use the social media as a tool for Nation building rather than a tool for propaganda. He harped on the need for the youths to
prioritise the peace, unity and progress of the country while making posts on the social media and thus desists from circulating unverified news and information which has the tendency to polarise the nation.

In his words, Chief Offiah stated that "The use of social media have permeated all spheres of our national life, ranging from the security, economy, political among other areas but unfortunately, some gullible youths has allowed themselves to be used by unpatriotic and mischievous political elements whose stock in trade is to fan the embers of disunity, hate and suspicion aimed at polarising the nation along tribal and ethnic lines by desperate political actors in their bid to achieve a pre- determined ungodly purposes".

political and ethic motivated crisis in Nigeria today can be attributed to unguarded use of the social media by individuals whose motive is to misinform Nigerians, sow seeds of discords, polarised the country through fake and uncensored false information in a bid to cause disunity, chaos, violence and ethnic chauvinism.

He further bemoaned the sad reality that many youths have been armed with media tools and deployed on social media by disgruntled politicians as tools for assaulting their opponents, defaming the character of persons who do not share the same political ideology, spreading propagandists and creating tension among Nigerians which on several occasions have had severe and negative impacts on people.

He stated that "It is most worrisome that some gullible Nigerians consume the Information they receive through the social media without critically analysing and evaluating the credibility of the source of such information, Hence, they blindly consume the messages ‘hook, line and sinker’".

Chief Tony Offiah advised the youths to use the social media and promote healthy dialogues and conversation that will engender the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria rather than allowing themselves to destroy the same country which they hope to lead.

Dr. Austine Ifeanyi Epunam has debunked the news making the rounds on the Social Media that the Aso Villa Chapel will soon be shut down as a result of the Muslim-- Muslim Ticket of the In Coming Bola Tinubu's Administration.

He described the rumour as: "Unfounded, baseless and the figment of the imagination of some mischievous and unscrupulous elements."

Speaking in an exclusive interview on the matter, Rev. Epunam who is one of the founding members of the Aso Villa Chapel from the tenure of former President Olusegun Obasanjo gave an insight about the establishment of the Aso Villa Chapel, He stated that it was in the bid for Justice and Spiritual Balance to reign in Aso Rock Presidential Villa that the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR, painstakingly built the Aso Rock Villa Chapel with the support of the Private Sector.

He added that: "All the Alters in the Villa, both the Mosques and the Christian Chapel have all come to stay for the Spiritual Services of our Nation and her citizens especially the Residents of the State House."

He commended the past and present Chaplains of the Villa Chapel including: Pastor Yusuf Obaje, Rev. Dr. William Okoye Ven. Obioma Onwuzulumba and Barr. Seyi Malomo.

Rev Epunam recalled joining the Chaplaincy of the Villa Chapel arm of Prayer in June 2005, that is: *The National Prayer Network* with his Foundation. This happened shortly after he came back from Germany when the then President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo visited Germany where he was busy with his Social Services to Africans in European prisons, when Chief Obasanjo came and woed Nigerians to come back home and assist in his Governmental Projects.

Delving into details on the workings of the Aso Rock Villa Chapel, Rev. Epunam explained: "This Prayer Group which was headed by a selfless Nigerian, by name Pastor Andrew Omale have been conducting series of Prayers for the New Nigeria which is being birthed right now.

This prayer has been going on for years on a daily basis with the National flag and Coat of Arms in place. Praying for a Nigeria where corruption , injustice, indiscipline, and bad leadership would be a thing of the past, with evil exposed and openly rebuked and rejected in the society.".

Speaking further, he posited:"Our revolutionary prayers have it's base at the Aso Rock Chapel and the National Ecumenical Centre Tower at Area11 Abuja FCT. Towards the end of former President Goodluck Jonathan's tenure, our Foundation which publishes the SweetHome News-Magazine in collaboration with the Presidency, came up with an Edition Titled: "Chief Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR and John K. Okpara, Architects Of Spiritual Transformation In Nigeria".

This was in recognition of the efforts they made in putting up that beautiful edifice called Aso Rock Villa Chapel; before then, Aso Rock Villa did not have a single place of worship for Christians. So, anyone who knows the history and story behind the Aso Villa Chapel cannot open his mouth and speak lightly of the place. It took a lot of Presidential and Spiritual stamina to build the Chapel and for people to start worshipping there and it is not a place that can be easily shut down."

In conclusion, Rev Dr. Austine Epunam who is equally the National Champion of the OCI Foundation which is fighting against Breast and Cervical Cancer in Nigeria and beyond said: "I call on all our beloved patriotic country men and women not to allow religion and ethnicity being used by Politicians to divide us.

We should all stand firm in defence of the fatherland and to eschew all forms of divisive tendencies, because if Nigeria gets better, it is for the good of all tribes and religions. My advice is for all Nigerians to get ready for the New Nigeria that is coming up speedily. We rise by lifting others."

PoliticsPolice Nab Kingsley Emoh Over Plot To Assassinate Senator Ubanese Igbeke by Peoplesadvocate(op): 7:41pm On Mar 17, 2023
Police finally arrest Kingsley Emoh, the man who plotted to kill Senator Ubanesse Igbeke, after weeks of hiding

Kingsley Emoh, the self acclaimed billionaire staff of Eleme Petrochemical Company, Port Harcourt, who plotted to kill Senator Ubanesse Igbeke has been arrested by the Police.

His arrest in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 followed his refusal to honour Police invitations to come and assist Police investigations into his plot to kill the Senator by a petition in which he tagged the Senator a kidnapper and assassin. He also refused to obey a competent court order compelling him to honour the Police invitations.

Rather than obey the invitation of the Police, which persons with clear conscience will see as opportunity to clear their names and put facts in their correct perspectives, especially when it has to do with his own petition to Inspector – General of police, he chose to brag about his untouchable status, as he has the Inspector – General of Police and other top hierarchy of the Police as friends.

Emoh never missed any opportunity to showcase his stupendous wealth and often, reasonable persons are left bewildered by how an ordinary staff of Eleme Petrochemical Company could become so rich and larger than life. Truly Emoh lives life so loudly and so arrogantly and with a deliberate confidence of impunity, while moving around and intimidating people with team of armed policemen in his convoy.

Kingsley Emoh’s lifestyle stimulates the question, whether Eleme Petrochemical Company is still a Nigerian owned Corporation or a Ponzi scheme controlled by few corrupt individuals like Emoh.

His plot to kill Senator Igbeke is just one of his many atrocities in his native town of Nsugbe, where he has metamorphosed into a cult figure among miscreants, hoodlums and sundry criminals, who he uses to unleash terror on his perceived enemies.

However, there is an endgame in everything in life, as there is a time for everything too. There is a time to commit crimes and go free and a time to commit a crime and be caught and be exposed and disgraced. Emoh’s plot to kill Senator Igbeke appear to be his own endgame. As a dog rushing to it’s death does not listen to the restraining whistle of its owner, Kingsley Emoh did not listen to common sense and good conscience, and he was neither guided by the fear of God nor the fear of man, when he plotted to kill a well known public figure as Senator Igbeke.

His erroneous belief and nauseating boasting of having the Police in his pocket is as insane as saying that every officer in the Nigerian Police, from the Inspector – General down to the least Police recruit is corrupt and could be accountable to Emoh. This is lunatic and makes Kingsley Emoh deserving of urgent psychiatric evaluation.

This spell of lunacy has led Emoh through the years to drag Senator Igbeke’s name, reputation and integrity into mud, defaming and slandering the Senator with scandalous stories and false accusations.

Emoh has caused false and negative stories to be published against the Senator by many Media organizations, including the Brekete Family Television, Sahara Reporters, British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC and a host of social media outlets.

Rather than empower village women in Nsugbe to enable them take care of themselves and provide for their families, Kingsley Emoh stooped so low to pay them to stage protests, predicated on falsehood, disparaging the Senator. When all these brigandage against the Senator failed to achieve his purpose, Emoh hatched the plot to eliminate him.

His insane belief in the hegemony of corruption in the Nigerian Police has misled him into committing numerous atrocities in his native Nsugbe, believing he will always buy his way out of Police inquisitions. Like the Biblical Herod, Emoh neither fears God nor respects man. His terror against another illustrious son of Nsugbe, Chief Amechi Akwuba typifies his descent into insane lawlessness.

Chief Akwuba, an indigene of Nsugbe, was a 1980’s graduate of the University of Maiduguri, whose success in business led him to establish industries in Lagos and Abuja, employing hundreds of Nigerians. Chief Akwuba is a major stakeholder in the Nsugbe project and many people from the community continuously benefit from his largesse of philanthropy.

Over thirty years ago, Chief Amechi Akwuba built a country home in Nsugbe and singlehandedly constructed a road, leading off the Onitsha/Nsukka Highway past his house. The Local Government Council in appreciation of his effort, approved the road as a street and named the street after Chief Akwuba.

ALPHONSUS IGBEKE UBANESE IS INNOCENT NSUGBE COMMUNITY CRIES OUT

The Elders of Nsugbe community in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State has cried out over the hell bent defamation and character assassination of thier illustrious son, Distinguished Senator Alphonsus Obi Igbeke (Ubanese) former senator representing Anambra North who was wrongly accused of kidnapping 8 persons over 20 years ago.

According to the 78-year-old Sir Augustine Mgbataogu, who was the Acting President General of the community when the said event took place,

He stated that the fake, defamatory and misleading news report which was aimed at tarnishing the image of the distinguished Senator was the handiwork of the enemies of the community who are against the peace and progress of the community.

For Ifeanyi Tabugbo, the spokesperson for Ifite Quarter, Nsugbe, those people were terrors in the community

“I was coming from Onitsha to Nsugbe. We were four in the bus. Police had a checkpoint on a section of that road. So, when we were approaching, the people on that road were flashing their torchlight.

“I told the driver to slow down; that they were policemen. So, when we got where they were, somebody came out from a Melina tree and pointed it at us to my surprise.

“He fired gunshots and we zoomed off. While we were running, I noticed that blood was dripping from my backside. I had been shot. The driver said that bullet hit him on the leg.

“I went to the police station in our community and reported the matter. I was later taken to the hospital.

“This happened around 8pm. From there, I was taken to a hospital in Onitsha were I was given treatment for three months until I returned to Lagos. Anyone trying to link Sen. Ubanese to the missing persons in Nsugbe is mischievous, ” he said

Collaborating the incident on what transpired twenty years ago, the respected community leader, Sir Augustine Mgbataogu, who was the Acting President General
stated that eight persons who were allegedly caught for nefarious activities in Nsugbe in 2002 were handed over to the police.

He said, “I was called upon when this thing happened. They brought them to the village square led by one Obi Gika Anaekwe; unfortunately he is late now. I wish he is still alive to testify to what I am saying.

“So, Gika Anaekwe led Nsugbe people to these children. Unanimously Nsugbe said that they would have no hand in it; that they should hand them over to the police.

“These children were handed over to the police. This happened about 20 years ago. The police were there. These children were grown ups, not kids.

“Their parents existed. It should be their duty to have asked after their children not mine. Did I ask them to go about stealing; shooting people?”

A recent social media post accused Senator Igbeke who hails from the community of abducting the children.

The community in a meeting it held rose in defense of its son, warning that they will not take it lightly with anyone who links Senator Alphonsus Obi Igbeke (Ubanese) to the missing children.

But the people of the area during their meeting on Tuesday, said they would likely go ‘spiritual’ to unravel those behind such action against their son and take any action they deemed fit.

When contacted on phone, Senator Obi -Igbeke, said those behind such action were perceived political enemies.

“They think I’m interested in any political office. Their aim is just to tarnish the image that took me many years to build. They should think of another thing.

“I’ve served this country as a member of the House of Representatives. I’ve also served as Senator representing Anambra North and many others including Nigeria Ambassador, extra-ordinary and plenipotentiary. Their attempt is in vain.”
