Business*progressives For National Transformation Extols Nonye Ayeni For Landmark Achiev by Peoplesadvocate(op): 11:43am On Feb 13
*PROGRESSIVES FOR NATIONAL TRANSFORMATION EXTOLS NONYE AYENI FOR LANDMARK ACHIEVEMENT IN NON-OIL EXPORT SECTOR*

The Progressivs For National Transformation (PRONAT), a leading Renewed Hope Agenda advocacy group committed to progressive policies, economic diversification, and national development, has showered encomiums on Mrs. Nonye Ayeni, Executive Director/CEO of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), for her outstanding leadership that delivered Nigeria's highest-ever non-oil export performance in 2025.

In a statement issued by Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu LLB, the Convener, PRONAT described Ayeni's stewardship as a “landmark achievement” that has significantly advanced Nigeria's economic diversification agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope administration. The group highlighted the record-breaking US$6.1 billion in non-oil exports recorded in 2025, a robust 11.5% increase from the US$5.46 billion achieved in 2024 coupled with a 10% rise in export volume from 7.29 million metric tonnes to 8.02 million metric tonnes.

“Mrs. Nonye Ayeni has proven to be a transformative leader whose strategic vision, policy interventions, and relentless drive have propelled Nigeria's non-oil export sector to unprecedented heights,” PRONAT stated. “This milestone is not just a statistical triumph; it is concrete evidence of the impact of the ‘Double Your Export’ initiative and the broader Renewed Hope agenda in reducing oil dependency, boosting forex earnings, creating jobs, and empowering local producers and exporters.”

The advocacy body particularly praised Ayeni's collaborative efforts with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, the Bank of Industry, and other stakeholders, which have fostered an enabling environment for exporters. Key drivers of the success, according to PRONAT, include targeted interventions such as export incentives, market access facilitation, capacity-building programs for exporters, and aggressive promotion of Nigerian products in regional and global markets.

PRONAT also commended Ayeni's recent contributions to positioning Nigeria in high-growth sectors, including her involvement in the launch of the National Halal Economy Strategy in early February 2026, aimed at tapping into the $7.7 trillion global halal market. The group noted that under her leadership, NEPC has strengthened partnerships, improved export documentation processes, and spotlighted high-potential products like cashew, cocoa, sesame, and manufactured goods.

“Her appointment in 2023 marked the beginning of a new dawn for non-oil exports, and the results speak volumes,” the statement continued. “Mrs. Ayeni's blend of professionalism, innovation, and stakeholder engagement has restored confidence among Nigerian exporters and positioned the NEPC as a more responsive and results-oriented institution.”

PRONAT called on the Federal Government to sustain the momentum by providing additional resources to NEPC and expanding support mechanisms for exporters. The group reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Ayeni and the NEPC to achieve even higher targets in the coming years, including ambitious goals under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.

Mrs. Nonye Ayeni, who assumed office as ED/CEO of NEPC in October 2023, has consistently emphasized the role of strategic policy, exporter empowerment, and international market linkages in driving sustainable export growth. Her leadership has been widely credited with revitalizing Nigeria's non-oil export ecosystem and contributing meaningfully to national economic resilience.

*CHIEF CHIDI ANYAEGBU MFR, OKEIYI AMICHI: AFRICA'S PRIDE IN THE GLOBAL COMMUNITY*

BY Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu LLB

In the pantheon of African visionaries who have transcended humble origins to etch their names on the global stage, Chief Dr. Chidi Anyaegbu stands as a towering figure. Born on September 13, 1956, in the serene town of Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria, this self-made titan has transformed a modest venture into the Chisco Group—a multifaceted conglomerate that exemplifies entrepreneurial brilliance, economic empowerment, and unwavering commitment to societal upliftment.

As the Chairman of Chisco Group, Chief Anyaegbu, adorned with the national honors of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) and Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), embodies Africa's pride, not merely through his business acumen but through his profound impact on job creation, philanthropy, and the empowerment of young Nigerians and Africans. His story is a beacon of inspiration, proving that with resilience and innovation, Africa can claim its rightful place in the global community.

Entrepreneurial Acumen: From Spare Parts to a Continental Empire

Chief Anyaegbu's journey began in 1978, rooted in the time-honored Igbo apprenticeship system a cultural cornerstone that honed his business instincts in Lagos. Starting with a small auto spare parts shop in Ebute-Metta, he identified untapped opportunities in Nigeria's burgeoning transport sector. By 1981, he founded Chisco Transport Nigeria Ltd., addressing the critical need for reliable passenger services. What started as a fledgling operation has evolved into a diversified powerhouse under the Chisco Group umbrella, spanning integrated logistics, oil and gas, hospitality, real estate, and more.

His entrepreneurial foresight is evident in the group's expansion across West Africa, operating in Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, and Côte d’Ivoire with over 500 luxury buses equipped with modern amenities like GPS, onboard entertainment, and safety features. Chisco Energy, another arm, manages over 20 fuel stations, massive tank farms, and a fleet of tankers, while Chisco Express leverages technology for seamless parcel tracking.

This diversification not only mitigates risks but positions Chisco as a pioneer in Africa's logistics and energy sectors. Honored with a Doctorate in Business Administration (Honoris Causa) from Penn State University in 1996, Chief Anyaegbu's strategies have earned him accolades, including the Lifetime Achievement Award in Transportation. His net worth, estimated at $650 million, underscores his mastery in turning vision into value, making him a global ambassador for African ingenuity.

Job Creation: Fueling Africa's Economic Engine

At the heart of Chief Anyaegbu's legacy is his unparalleled contribution to employment, a cornerstone of sustainable development in Africa. In the transport arm alone, Chisco employs over 22,800 workers across 28 Nigerian states and 106 locations, operating for 41 years since its inception in 1981. This vast workforce extends beyond borders, creating opportunities in logistics, energy, and hospitality sectors throughout West Africa.

By prioritizing innovation such as introducing premium bus experiences and tech-driven logistics Chief Anyaegbu has not only generated direct jobs but stimulated ancillary economies. Mechanics, drivers, administrators, and tech specialists thrive under his umbrella, reducing unemployment and fostering skill development. His ventures address Africa's youth bulge, providing stable livelihoods that empower families and communities. In an era where job scarcity fuels insecurity, as Chief Anyaegbu himself noted, his model demonstrates how private enterprise can drive national stability and growth, positioning him as a key architect of Africa's economic renaissance.

Philanthropy and Empowerment: Investing in Humanity

Chief Anyaegbu's success is matched only by his generosity, epitomizing the African ethos of communal upliftment. Through the Chidi Anyaegbu Foundation, he offers scholarships and university sponsorships to underprivileged youth, bridging educational gaps and nurturing future leaders. His landmark donations include N100 million and a fully equipped hospital to his Amichi community, alongside building the Chisco Institute of Transportation and Logistics Studies at Nnamdi Azikiwe University. These initiatives focus on skills training in transportation, property management, and entrepreneurship, empowering young Nigerians and Africans to compete globally.

Beyond infrastructure, his philanthropy extends to social causes, such as aiding rescued human trafficking victims with transportation and sponsoring community trips. Married to Ngozi Anyaegbu and a family man, Chief Anyaegbu views giving back as his greatest achievement: "investing in humanity". His efforts combat poverty, promote education, and inspire a new generation, solidifying his role as a philanthropist par excellence.

In celebrating Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, we honor not just a businessman but a transformative force. As Okeiyi Amichi, he carries the pride of his heritage while projecting Africa's potential worldwide. His life reminds us that true greatness lies in lifting others, making him an enduring symbol of hope and excellence in the global community.

SIR EMEKA OFFOR'S 67TH BIRTHDAY: A LIFE OF SERVICE TO GOD AND HUMANITY

As the sun rises on February 10, 2026, Nigeria and the world celebrate a milestone: the 67th birthday of Sir (Dr.) Emeka Offor, a man whose life exemplifies the profound intersection of faith, enterprise, and altruism.Born in February 10, 1959, in Kafanchan Kaduna State, to humble roots as the son of a police officer, Offor's journey from a modest beginning to a global oil magnate and beacon of philanthropy is a narrative of divine grace and human resilience.

Yet, beyond the boardrooms and billion-naira deals, his true legacy lies in a steadfast commitment to serving God through uplifting humanity, a mission channeled masterfully through the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF). On this auspicious day, we reflect on how Offor's philanthropy, particularly his SEOF donations from 2010 to 2025, has transformed lives, eradicated diseases, ignited minds, and fostered hope across Africa and beyond.

From Humble Beginnings to a Towering Empire: The Foundation of Service

Sir Emeka Offor's ascent in the business world is the stuff of legends. Founding the Chrome Group in 1994, he built a diversified conglomerate spanning oil and gas, engineering, insurance, telecommunications, and logistics. Subsidiaries like Kaztec Engineering and Inland Containers Nigeria Limited have not only generated thousands of jobs but also positioned Nigeria as a key player in West Africa's energy sector. Honoured as Vanguard Businessman of the Year in 2024, Offor's entrepreneurial prowess is undeniable. However, what sets him apart is his unyielding belief that wealth is a tool for divine purpose. "To whom much is given, much is required," he often echoes, drawing from his deep Christian faith to guide his actions.

This ethos birthed the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation in the mid-1990s, a non-profit dedicated to poverty reduction, self-sufficiency, and community empowerment in Nigeria's marginalized areas. Through SEOF, Offor has invested hundreds of millions in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, widows' cooperatives, and infrastructure—proving that true leadership heals societal wounds. His global partnerships, especially with Rotary International and Books for Africa (BFA), amplify this impact, turning personal success into collective triumph.

A Decade-Plus of Transformative Giving: SEOF Donations from 2010 to 2025

The period from 2010 to 2025 marks a golden era in SEOF's philanthropy, with donations exceeding hundreds of millions in naira and dollars, touching millions of lives. These contributions, often in partnership with international organizations, reflect Offor's strategic vision: addressing root causes like illiteracy, disease, and economic disparity while honoring his faith through acts of compassion.

-2010-2012: Igniting Literacy Across Africa: SEOF's partnership with Books for Africa began in 2010, funding the shipment of over 73 containers of books and computers to educationally disadvantaged countries like Chad, South Sudan, Niger, The Gambia, Somalia, Malawi, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. By 2012, this initiative had delivered 1.7 million books and computers worth more than $18 million to 19 African nations, adopting a "one book, one child at a time" strategy to combat illiteracy. In 2011 alone, SEOF funded distributions to over 200 Nigerian schools and libraries. A standout donation in 2012 included nearly 640,000 books worth $6.5 million to Nigeria and The Gambia, while a second major book distribution targeted higher education institutions. These efforts, cumulatively valued at over $30 million in educational materials, have empowered generations, fostering self-reliance and breaking cycles of poverty.

- 2013-2014: A Bold Assault on Polio:
Entering a multi-year alliance with Rotary International in 2013, SEOF donated $1.3 million to the END POLIO NOW campaign in Lisbon, Portugal, following an initial $250,000 contribution. This built on a $600,000 gift to BFA, the largest cash donation in its history, furthering literacy drives. In 2014, another $1 million bolstered PolioPlus, marking the second consecutive year of such million-dollar support. These funds immunized millions, contributing to Nigeria's wild poliovirus-free status in 2020 and earning Offor recognition as Africa's largest individual polio donor with over $4 million committed.

- 2019-2020: Expanding Horizons in Peace, Health, and Infrastructure: In 2019, a $250,000 leadership gift helped establish Rotary's first Peace Center in Africa at Makerere University, Uganda, promoting conflict resolution. The following year, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, SEOF distributed over 1.4 million books to 80 universities, 22 polytechnics, 37 colleges of education, seven public libraries, and 108 schools in Nigeria. Additionally, Offor funded the 1,600-seat Rotary Hall in Abuja at over ₦100 million, enhancing community gatherings. Scholarships worth over ₦150 million were awarded, with first-class graduates receiving cars and jobs in Offor's companies.

2023-2024: Empowering the Vulnerable and Advancing Healthcare: In 2023, SEOF launched a rice distribution program, sharing 2,000 bags with widows in Anambra State, while 2024 saw palliatives extended to correctional centers and fully furnished homes gifted to 10 widows. Education remained central, with $30 million in books donated to Nigeria and 18 African countries. Healthcare surged forward: Over the last 18 months leading to 2024, SEOF delivered 14 containers of medical equipment to tertiary institutions, funding pharmaceutical and medical faculties at universities like the University of Nigeria. Overall, SEOF committed over ₦750 million to projects, including youth grants aiding over 500 individuals.

2025: A Pinnacle of Maternal Health and Lifesaving Technology:
Culminating this era, SEOF pledged $5 million to Rotary's maternal and child health program in Nigeria, targeting high-need areas to reduce mortality. In August, a $1 million Linear Accelerator machine was donated to Nigeria's North-east for cancer treatment, symbolizing Offor's ongoing battle against health inequities. These gifts, praised by Nigeria's Minister of Health for SEOF's standout philanthropy, underscore a total Rotary contribution exceeding $8 million.

A Legacy That Inspires: Faith in Action:
Sir Emeka Offor's 67th birthday is more than a personal celebration; it's a testament to a life where service to God manifests as boundless love for humanity. Through SEOF's donations from 2010 to 2025, spanning literacy revolutions, polio victories, and community upliftment—he has not only alleviated suffering but also sown seeds of sustainable progress. His generosity earned him widespread recognition and honors, Rotary International and Rotary Foundation recognized Sir Emeka Offor for his contribution to the Rotary Centers for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution, Rotary's highest educational priority Award. He was also honoured with Rotary’s highest honour for an individual ‘Service Above Self Award’, Sir Emeka Offor is a member of the Arch C. Klumph Society. He became Africa’s largest donor to Rotary when he announced a $1 million gift to PolioPlus, his second at the 2014 Rotary Convention in Sydney.

He Received Highest Recognition At The Rotary Convention In Lisbon, Rotary Awarded Sir Offor at Africa Polio Free Certification Celebration, an award for his polio eradication donations and a Rotary Hall named after him. Rotary International awarded him as the 2015/16 International Service Award for a Polio-Free World in recognition of his contribution to Polio eradication throughout the region.

Sir Emeka Offor has been honoured with Honorary Doctorate degrees from institutions such as the University of Maiduguri (Doctor of Letters, Honoris Causa, 2025), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, University of Nigeria Nsukka, and Nile University Abuja. Vanguard Businessman of the Year 2024. Philanthropist of the Year 2012 (Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council). International Humanitarian Award (Andrew J. Young Foundation, 2019)
Multiple Rotary honors, including recognition at the Africa Polio-Free Certification celebration and a Rotary Hall named in his honor.

Happy 67th Birthday, Sir Emeka Offor may your legacy endure as a divine blueprint for service.

PoliticsGlobal Women Council Condemns Terrorist Attack In Kwara State, Calls For Justice by Peoplesadvocate(op): 9:03am On Feb 07
GLOBAL WOMEN COUNCIL CONDEMNS TERRORIST ATTACK IN KWARA STATE, CALLS FOR JUSTICE, INTELLIGENCE REFORMS AND COMMUNITY VIGILANCE

The Global Women Council for Political and Parliamentary Leaders (GWCPPL), an international organisation dedicated to advancing women’s political leadership and parliamentary representation worldwide, has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Kwara State which claimed over 160 lives and resulted in the abduction of numerous women and children.

The attack targeted the villages of Woro and Nuku in Kaiama Local Government Area, where armed extremists reportedly killed scores of residents, many of whom were restrained before being murdered, while women, girls, and children were abducted. Reports from the Red Cross and local authorities indicate that the death toll has risen to at least 167, making the incident one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in Nigeria in recent times.

In a statement made available to newsmen, the Global Women Council for Political and Parliamentary Leaders, through its International President, Senator Uche Ekwunife, described the attack as an appalling act of barbarism directed at defenceless communities, with women and children suffering disproportionate harm through killings, abductions, and displacement. She expressed deep solidarity with the affected families and the people of Kwara State, noting that such acts of violence threaten peace, security, and the fundamental rights and dignity of women across Nigeria.

The Council stressed that the deliberate killing of civilians, destruction of homes, and abduction of women and children represent extreme cruelty and moral depravity, and reiterated that no grievance, ideology, or cause can ever justify such violence against innocent citizens.

GWCPPL commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his swift response to the incident, including his public condemnation of the attack, the immediate deployment of an army battalion to the affected area under Operation Savannah Shield, and directives to federal and state authorities to provide urgent humanitarian assistance while ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice. The Council described these actions as a strong demonstration of leadership and commitment to safeguarding the lives of Nigerians.

The Council further called for strengthened intelligence gathering and intelligence-sharing mechanisms among security agencies at national, regional, and community levels as a critical step toward preventing future attacks. It emphasised that improved coordination, early-warning systems, and timely information flow are essential to disrupting terrorist activities before they escalate into mass violence.

GWCPPL also highlighted that security is a shared responsibility and urged citizens and local communities to actively support counter-terrorism efforts by promptly reporting suspicious movements, threats, or activities to relevant local authorities. The Council noted that effective security outcomes are best achieved when government action is reinforced by responsible civic engagement at the grassroots level.

In addition, the Council made an urgent appeal for the immediate rescue of all women and children abducted by terrorists in Kwara State and across Nigeria. It drew attention to the severe gender-specific consequences of such violence, including forced marriages, sexual abuse, and long-term psychological trauma, and called on the Nigerian government, security agencies, and international partners to prioritise the safe return and rehabilitation of abducted women and girls.

As an organisation committed to empowering women in political and parliamentary leadership, GWCPPL reaffirmed its dedication to advocating policies that address insecurity, promote gender-responsive security strategies, and ensure women’s meaningful participation in peacebuilding and governance processes.

The Council called on the international community to support Nigeria’s efforts to combat terrorism and protect the rights of women, while standing in solidarity with the victims of this tragic attack. GWCPPL extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and offered prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured and the safe return of all those still held in captivity.
PoliticsNigerian Youth And Japa Syndrome: Lessons From Nze Chidi Duru by Peoplesadvocate(op): 6:54am On Feb 01
*NIGERIAN YOUTH AND JAPA SYNDROME: LESSONS FROM NZE CHIDI DURU*

The term "Japa Syndrome" has become a rallying cry for many Nigerians, capturing the sentiment of a generation yearning to escape the country's myriad challenges. "Japa," a Yoruba word meaning "to flee or escape," has come to symbolize the desire to leave Nigeria in search of greener pastures. While the allure of foreign lands is undeniable, there are valuable lessons to be gleaned from those who have chosen to stay behind and build empires that transcend borders.

Driven by economic uncertainties, infrastructural challenges, and the allure of stability in foreign lands, young professionals, entrepreneurs, and families pack their dreams into suitcases, leaving behind a nation rich in potential but plagued by hurdles. Losing top talent starves innovation right at home. Factories miss out on fresh ideas that could boost output. Schools and hospitals suffer without skilled hands to train the next wave. Over time, this brain drain slows economic growth, with Nigeria losing billions in potential GDP each year.

*Yet, amid this tide of departure, there are beacons of resilience who remind us that Nigeria's soil can still nurture towering successes. One such luminary is Nze Chidi Duru, OON, a serial entrepreneur, lawyer, and visionary leader who chose to root his ambitions firmly in Nigerian earth, building a sprawling conglomerate that spans continents and inspires generations. Nze Duru stands tall as proof that rooting deep in Nigerian soil can sprout a business empire that spans the world. His journey flips the script on Japa Syndrome, showing how staying back builds lasting wins.*

*Nze Duru's success offers a refreshing counterpoint to the Japa Syndrome. His entrepreneurial journey is a testament to the fact that with determination, hard work, and a clear vision, it is possible to achieve global success without abandoning one's homeland. His story is a powerful reminder that the challenges that drive many to consider fleeing Nigeria can, in fact, be the very catalysts for innovation and growth.*

Nze could have easily joined the ranks of those who "japa-ed" in search of opportunities in Europe or America. Instead, he embraced the challenges at home, channeling his intellect and drive into transforming Nigeria's business landscape. With over three decades in the private sector, Duru founded Grand Towers Limited, a holding company that stands as a testament to what perseverance and innovation can achieve in Africa's most populous nation.

Grand Towers is no ordinary enterprise; it's a multifaceted conglomerate with an asset base exceeding ₦85 billion, encompassing pensions, investments, real estate, hospitality, and fintech. In 2004, Duru pioneered First Guarantee Pension Limited, one of Nigeria's inaugural licensed Pension Fund Administrators, revolutionizing the pension sector and providing secure financial futures for millions. This venture was later acquired by Access Bank Plc and merged with Sigma Pensions to form Access Pensions, amplifying its reach and impact.

Not stopping there, Duru launched CallPhone Limited, a fintech powerhouse that became the first to secure the Central Bank of Nigeria's Payment Solution Service (PSS) license, offering cutting-edge payment solutions that bridge gaps in Africa's digital economy. Through subsidiaries like BON Hotels Grand Towers and upscale shopping malls, his empire has created thousands of jobs, fostering economic inclusion and empowering communities across Nigeria.

Here are some lessons from his journey for those grappling with the Japa dilemma. First, vision trumps location. Duru saw opportunities where others saw obstacles. Second, innovation is the key to resilience. He didn't wait for perfect conditions; he created them. Third, commitment to community fuels sustainable growth. His job creation and philanthropic efforts underscore that building wealth in isolation is fleeting, true legacy lies in uplifting others, reducing the very inequalities that fuel emigration.

For the Nigerian youth, often tempted by the siren call of foreign visas, Nigeria boasts over 200 million people, a huge pool of buyers ready for goods and services. This market dwarfs many nations, offering chances for smart businesses to thrive. Local entrepreneurs can tap into needs unmet by imports. As we navigate an era of uncertainty, let us draw inspiration from those who stayed, built, and thrived. Nigeria is not just a place to leave; it's a canvas for creation, a forge for fortunes, and a home worth investing in. Nze Duru's path offers a blueprint: Stay, strategize, and soar.

*NZE CHIDI DURU: A LEGACY OF HOPE, EXCELLENCE AND A ROLE MODEL FOR NIGERIAN YOUTH*

By TC Nwachukwu

When the name Nze Chidi Duru surfaces in a conversation about Nigerian entrepreneurship and political space, a hush of reverence follows. To the uninitiated, he may appear as just another successful Politician cum businessman; but to those who have watched his ascent, he is a Czar of Enterprise, he is a beacon of integrity, innovation, and selfless service. As a serial entrepreneur, seasoned politician, philanthropist, and community leader, Nze Duru is a living proof that disciplined finances and audacious vision can rewrite a nation’s economic narrative.

Nze Chidi Duru's narrative is one of triumph over adversity, where a young lawyer from Anambra became a national icon through unwavering principles. As an uncommon politician who prioritizes transparency, an entrepreneurial czar who builds lasting empires, a paragon of financial prudence, and a mentor to the youth, he inspires us to envision a brighter Nigeria. In his words, the question is not whether Nigeria is open for business, but how the world engages it equitably. For Nigerian youth, Duru is a living proof that with integrity, vision, and hard work, the impossible becomes achievable.

Nze Duru's foray into politics was not born of entitlement but of a profound commitment to good governance and national development. Duru's political odyssey began in 1991 as Assistant Legal Adviser for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Anambra State. He later served as Special Adviser to Ambassador Babagana Kingibe during the historic 1993 presidential elections. Co-founding the United Nigerian Congress Party (UNCP) in 1997 and later the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Duru contested and won a seat in the House of Representatives for Aguata Federal Constituency in 1999, serving two impactful terms until 2007.

During his tenure, Nze Duru chaired pivotal committees on Privatization and Commercialization, Public Petitions, and Pension Reforms. His leadership was instrumental in the Pension Reform Act of 2004, which unlocked a ₦16 trillion pension assets industry, revolutionizing retirement security for millions of Nigerians. He also spearheaded the Power Sector Reform Bill, leading to the unbundling of Nigeria's electricity sector into generation (GENCOS) and distribution (DISCOS) companies—a bold move that addressed chronic power challenges and laid the foundation for economic growth.

Today, as Deputy National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) since 2022 and Chairman of the Board of Management at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Lokoja, Kogi State (appointed in 2025), Nze Duru continues to champion transparency and ethical leadership. In a political arena often marred by self-interest, he stands uncommon—guided by principles of accountability and people-centered policies. As he once reflected, "Guided by integrity, service, and compassion, I remain committed to empowering people, strengthening communities, and building a Nigeria where every citizen can thrive."

Beyond the corridors of power, Nze Chidi Duru has etched his name as an entrepreneurial powerhouse, transforming ideas into thriving enterprises that drive economic progress. With over three decades in the private sector, he founded Grand Towers Limited, a holding company boasting an asset base exceeding ₦85 billion. This conglomerate spans pensions, investments, real estate, hospitality, and fintech, exemplifying his foresight in diversifying Nigeria's economy.

In 2004, leveraging insights from his pension reform work, Duru established First Guarantee Pension Limited, one of Nigeria's inaugural licensed Pension Fund Administrators. Under his stewardship, it grew exponentially before being acquired by Access Bank Plc and merged with Sigma Pensions to form Access Pensions—a testament to his ability to build sustainable value. He also pioneered CallPhone Limited, a fintech innovator holding Central Bank of Nigeria licenses as a Payment Solution Service Provider (PSSP), Payment Terminal Service Provider (PTSP), and Super-Agent, revolutionizing integrated payment solutions through cutting-edge technology.

Duru's entrepreneurial zeal extended to retail and hospitality; he introduced the first ShopRite franchise in Abuja via the Grand Towers Shopping Mall in Apo, catalyzing further retail expansions in the Federal Capital Territory. As Chairman of Grand Towers Plc, which owns BON Hotels Grand Towers and upscale shopping malls, he has created thousands of jobs and fostered economic inclusion. His ventures are not mere businesses but engines of empowerment, proving that entrepreneurship, when rooted in innovation and ethical practices, can uplift entire communities.

*In an era where financial recklessness often undermines progress, Nze Chidi Duru exemplifies prudence and strategic acumen. His approach to business is methodical, blending legal expertise with global insights from programs at Lagos Business School, the University of Navarra in Spain, and Harvard University. Duru's prudent management is evident in his advocacy for economic reforms, such as addressing forex concerns and proposing the redenomination of the Naira to stabilize Nigeria's economy.*

Nze Duru's financial discipline has not only sustained his enterprises through Nigeria's volatile markets but also positioned them as models of resilience. For instance, his role in pension reforms ensured long-term fiscal responsibility, protecting workers' futures while generating national wealth. Young entrepreneurs can learn from his mantra: Success is not in accumulation but in sustainable, ethical stewardship that benefits society.

Nze Chidi Duru's life is a blueprint for Nigerian youth aspiring to make their mark. Honored with the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) and the traditional title Acharaugo of Nkpologwu for his selfless contributions, he has dedicated himself to youth empowerment through ICT, entrepreneurship, and leadership training programs since 2015. His Acharugo Foundation Trust, established in 2006 with the motto "Feed a widow and feed a family," provides scholarships, empowerment grants for widows, and community development initiatives, touching hundreds of lives.

PoliticsProgressives For National Transformation Seeks Increased Funding For Itf by Peoplesadvocate(op): 1:20pm On Jan 17
*PROGRESSIVES FOR NATIONAL TRANSFORMATION SEEKS INCREASED FUNDING FOR INDUSTRIAL TRAINING FUND, EMPHASISES ITS CRITICAL ROLE IN JOB CREATION, REDUCTION OF YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT*

Progressives for National Transformation (PRONAT), a leading advocacy group aligned with progressive policies under President Bola Tinubu's administration, has called for a significant increase in funding for the Industrial Training Fund (ITF). The group highlighted the ITF's pivotal role in equipping young Nigerians with essential skills, fostering job creation, and driving economic transformation.

*While Speaking on Kaftan Television Abuja, PRONAT Convener, AMB. Timothy Nwachukwu, urged the National Assembly to prioritize the ITF in the upcoming 2026 budget allocations. "The Industrial Training Fund is not just an agency; it's a lifeline for millions of Nigerian youths grappling with unemployment," Nwachukwu stated. "With over 2.5 million artisans trained in its 54 years of existence, the ITF has proven its worth in bridging the skills gap. However, to tackle the current unemployment rate hovering around 33%, we need enhanced funding to expand programs like the Skills Upgrading and Professional Advancement initiative."*

PRONAT's stated that Nigeria’s labor market has long struggled to absorb its rapidly growing youth population, with many graduates entering a job market ill-suited to their academic qualifications. “The disconnect between our educational system and the needs of industry is a ticking time bomb,” said AMB. Nwachukwu, “We’re producing tens of thousands of young people who lack the practical skills to thrive in modern workplaces from manufacturing to renewable energy to digital tech.”

*Nwachukwu, emphasized that increased investment in the ITF could lead to the creation of thousands of jobs annually. "Skills are the new currency of national development," he echoed sentiments from ITF Director-General Dr. Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, who has repeatedly called for strategic partnerships to upscale artisan training. Progressives For National Transformation proposed allocating at least N50 billion ($30 million) in additional funds to the ITF, focusing on vocational training, business incubation schemes, and international certification for Nigerian artisans.*

The group also pointed to successful collaborations, such as the ITF-Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA) partnership, which has trained over 60,000 youths in recent years. "These programs have not only empowered individuals but also boosted sectors like construction and automotive repair," Nwachukwu added. "In emphasizing job creation through targeted training, we can reduce youth restiveness and contribute to Nigeria's Renewed Hope Agenda."

*The Progressives for National Transformation, inspired by President Tinubu's initiatives, continues to advocate for policies that promote inclusive growth. As Nigeria navigates its path toward economic recovery, the call for bolstered ITF funding underscores the urgency of investing in human capital to secure a prosperous future for the nation's youth.*

"His recent representations, including at the presentation of the Nigeria Reputation Perception Index Report 2025 and in coordinating responses to international partnerships such as the U.S.-Nigeria security operations against extremism, have elevated Nigeria's voice on the global stage. We extol his commitment to safeguarding our nation's interests and promoting a renewed hope for Africa's giant."

Ebienfa, who assumed the role of MFA Spokesperson in February 2025 after serving as Acting Spokesperson, has been instrumental in issuing key communiques on matters ranging from condemnations of regional instability, such as the attempted coup in Benin Republic to affirmations of bilateral ties with global powers. His background as First Secretary and Head of Chancery at the Nigerian Embassy in Doha, Qatar, equipped him with a deep understanding of international relations, which PRONAT noted has been vital in navigating complex geopolitical landscapes.

The commendation comes at a time when Nigeria continues to strengthen its foreign policy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, focusing on economic stability, security reforms, and progressive governance. PRONAT, highlighted Ebienfa's media engagements, including courtesy visits to key stakeholders like the Nigerian Air Force and police public relations officers, as examples of his proactive approach to inter-agency coordination.

PoliticsPronat Labels Opposition Adc Leaders Atiku, Malami As Cancerous by Peoplesadvocate(op): 12:37pm On Jan 14
*Progressives for National Transformation Labels Opposition ADC Leaders Atiku, Malami, and Others as Corrupt and Cancerous to Nigeria's Commonwealth*

The Progressives for National Transformation (PRONAT), a pro-reform advocacy group aligned with Nigeria's ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused key figures in the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) of deep-seated corruption that threatens the nation's economic and social fabric. The group specifically named former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, and several other prominent opposition leaders as "corrupt elements" acting as a "cancer" on Nigeria's commonwealth.

PRONAT, known for its vocal support of President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, Stated that these opposition figures have a history of exploiting public resources for personal gain, undermining national development, and fostering division for political advantage.

*"These so-called leaders are not saviors; they are the very parasites draining the lifeblood of our nation," stated PRONAT's Convener, Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu, in the release. "Their actions have perpetuated poverty, weakened institutions, and eroded public trust, making them cancerous to the collective wealth and progress of Nigerians."

The statement comes amid ongoing investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into Malami's tenure as AGF under the previous administration.

Malami is linked to the misappropriation of over N200 billion in public funds, including the acquisition of dozens of properties across Nigeria. PRONAT highlighted these probes as evidence of systemic corruption within opposition ranks, accusing Malami of using his office to facilitate dubious deals and asset acquisitions while in power. "Malami's sudden pivot to the opposition after years of alleged looting is nothing but a desperate bid to evade justice," Bello added.

Atiku Abubakar, a perennial presidential contender and former PDP stalwart who has reportedly aligned with ADC factions, was also targeted. PRONAT referenced longstanding corruption cases against Atiku, The group argued that Atiku's defense of figures like Malami, whom he recently described as victims of "political witch-hunting" by the EFCC exposes a broader pattern of shielding corrupt allies.

*"Atiku's rhetoric about selective prosecution is a smokescreen for his own questionable dealings and those of his associates," PRONAT asserted, pointing to Atiku's statements condemning Malami's arrest as biased enforcement.

Former governors and senators who have defected to the opposition, were lumped into the critique. PRONAT claimed these individuals have collectively siphoned billions that could have been invested in infrastructure, healthcare, and education, exacerbating Nigeria's challenges like poverty and unemployment.

*"Their greed knows no bounds; they amass wealth while Nigerians suffer," the statement read, echoing sentiments from public discourse, where Nigerians have lambasted Malami's alleged theft of funds equivalent to over $130 million.*

PRONAT called for intensified anti-corruption efforts by the EFCC and urged Nigerians to reject opposition narratives that frame investigations as political vendettas. "True progressives must unite to excise this cancer from our body politic," Nwachukwu urged. "Only then can Nigeria achieve the transformation it deserves under visionary leadership."

*Leveraging the Ebonyi Charter of Needs to Attract Foreign Donors, international Partnership for Infrastructure and Social Development Projects*

*By: AMB. Timothy Nwachukwu*

The Ebonyi Charter of Needs is a meticulously crafted document by the administration of Rt. Hon. Francis O. Nwifiru. This manifesto serves as a blueprint for addressing the core needs of the Ebonyi people, emphasizing sectors such as education, health, agriculture, water supply, power generation, infrastructure, security, and human capital development. Launched as a compendium of promises, the charter prioritizes people-centered policies to foster sustainable growth and improve quality of life.

In a resource constrained environment like Nigeria, where state governments often rely on federal allocations, attracting global funding is crucial for scaling up projects. International donors, multilateral institutions, and private investors are increasingly interested in Africa's development, particularly in infrastructure (e.g., roads, energy, and water systems) and social development (e.g., education, healthcare, and skills training).

The People's Charter of Needs can be a powerful tool in this pursuit, as it demonstrates a clear, community driven roadmap that aligns with global priorities like the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By leveraging the charter, Ebonyi State can position itself as an attractive destination for funding, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and measurable impact.

For Ebonyi State Government to secure global funding, using the charter as the foundational framework this are some of the actions that the State government should take:-

*1. Align the Charter with International Development Agendas:* To appeal to global funders, Ebonyi State government must align the People's Charter of Needs to widely recognized frameworks. For instance, the charter's focus on education and health aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), while infrastructure and water initiatives support SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). Similarly, agriculture and human capital development can tie into SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

*Actionable Steps*: The State Government should engage patriot Ebonyians, Professional, or consultants who have verified track records to assist the State Government to prepare documents that aligns the State Charter of needs with global goals and further approach global funders and international Development Organization for funding.

*2. Develop Bankable Project Proposals Based on the Charter:* Global funders prioritize "bankable" projects, those with clear feasibility studies, risk assessments, and return-on-investment potential. The People's Charter of Needs provides a ready-made needs assessment, identifying gaps in infrastructure (e.g., roads and power) and social services (e.g., education and health facilities).

*Actionable Steps:* Transform charter priorities into detailed proposals. Seek technical assistance from Global partners and international Organization to attract investments and funding.

*3. Foster Partnerships with International Organizations and Donors:* Building relationships is key to unlocking funds. The charter's emphasis on people's needs can resonate with donors focused on grassroots impact.

*Actionable Steps*: Target bilateral donors that fund social projects in education, health and infrastructures. Host investor conferences,
Engage Ebonyi's diaspora through platforms like the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) to facilitate introductions.

*4. Emphasize Transparency, Accountability, and Monitoring:* Global funders demand accountability to mitigate risks like corruption. The People's Charter of Needs, with its public commitments, can serve as a transparency tool.

*Actionable Steps*: Partner with organizations like Transparency International for audits. Publish annual reports on charter implementation among other steps.

*5. Leverage Innovative Financing and Technology:* To stand out, Ebonyi can adopt modern approaches, integrating technology into charter projects.

*Actionable Steps*: Collaborate with International entities. Promote the charter digitally via social media and state websites to reach global audiences, potentially attracting venture philanthropists.

*BENEFITS OF ATTRACTING FOREIGN DONORS AND INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS INTO EBONYI STATE INCLUDE:-

1. Ebonyi State Government will be able to secure funding and resources to implement critical development projects outlined in the Ebonyi Charter of Needs.

2. The State Government will benefit from the technical expertise and knowledge sharing that comes with international partnerships,

3. This will ultimately raise the global profile of Ebonyi State thereby attracting more investment, tourism, and business opportunities.

4. The collaboration with International organization Stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and improve the overall standard of living for its citizens.

*Ebonyi Ambassadors Movement remains committed to .... moving Ebonyi forward through dissemination of critical information and knowledge sharing for the overall good of Ebonyi State.*

*God bless Ebonyi State*

PoliticsAwka Council Of Kingmakers Condemns Anambra State Government's by Peoplesadvocate(op): 10:19pm On Jan 01
AWKA COUNCIL OF KINGMAKERS CONDEMNS ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNMENT'S BLATANT INTERFERENCE IN AWKA TRADITIONAL RULERSHIP AND ORCHESTRATED MEDIA ASSAULT ON HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY OBI DR. AUSTIN NDIGWE, MON, JP, EZE UZU III

We, the Awka Council of Kingmakers, the custodians of the ancient traditions, customs, and heritage of the Awka Kingdom, hereby issue this unequivocal condemnation of the Anambra State Government's persistent, unlawful, and egregious interference in the sacred affairs of the Awka Traditional Institution.

This meddlesome intrusion represents a brazen assault on our cultural sovereignty, a flagrant violation of our ancestral rights, and a dangerous precedent that undermines the very foundations of Igbo traditional governance.

For the avoidance of doubt, the issues surrounding the Awka Traditional Rulership have long been settled in accordance with our time-honoured customs and the will of the people of Awka. His Imperial Majesty Obi Dr. Austin Ndigwe, MON, JP, Eze Uzu III, was duly selected, installed, and enthroned by the legitimate kingmakers of Awka, following rigorous adherence to our ancient rites and the consensus of our community.

Any contrary claims propagated by the State Government are nothing short of fabricated distortions, driven by political expediency and external influences that have no place in our traditional matters. The government's purported threats of criminal charges against our rightful monarch are not only baseless but constitute an affront to the autonomy of traditional institutions, as enshrined in Nigerian law and the principles of federalism.

We are particularly outraged by the recent orchestrated media attacks and smear campaigns against His Imperial Majesty, including baseless accusations of imposture and the vilification of sacred chieftaincy titles conferred on Her Excellency Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, Nigeria's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs on the 30th of October 2025
at the 2025 Igu aro (Otite Awka) which prominent Awka sons and daughters attended while the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo was duly invited to the ceremony.

It is noteworthy that the ceremony took place only a week to Anambra State Governorships election and the State Government kept mute because the Governor never wanted to offend Awka indigenes who would have voted against
him had he denigrating the sacred traditional institution of Ezeuzu Awka the 111. The State Government recently found its voice when Awka Sons and daughters had overwhelmingly voted for the Soludo government.

This is nine years of his Majesty Obi Dr. Austin Ndigwe on the throne of Ezeuzu long before Soludo became the Governor of Anambra State as all due process was followed. Awka indigenes are not seeking for political recognition of his Majesty Obi Ezeuzu the 3rd. Therefore Governor Soludo should leave Awka alone and focus on his governance.

Ndi Anambra will recall that it was Professor Soludo who introduced Autonomous Community through Isuanioma from Isuofia in Anambra State which was hitherto unknown in the history of the State, his actions has been challenged in the law Court.

These vicious propaganda efforts, amplified by government-aligned mouthpieces and social media trolls, are a calculated attempt to erode the dignity of our throne and sow discord among our people. Such actions are reprehensible, divisive, and tantamount to cultural terrorism, aimed at destabilizing the peace and unity that Awka has enjoyed under the wise leadership of Eze Uzu III.

We call on the Anambra State Government, under Governor Chukwuma Soludo, to immediately cease all forms of interference, withdraw any unlawful directives or bans, and respect the sanctity of our traditional processes. Failure to do so will only expose the administration's disregard for cultural heritage and invite the wrath of the ancestors, the people of Awka, and all well-meaning Nigerians who value justice and tradition.

The Awka Council of Kingmakers stands resolutely behind His Imperial Majesty Obi Dr. Austin Ndigwe, MON, JP, Eze Uzu III, and we urge all sons and daughters of Awka, as well as the broader Igbo nation, to rally in defense of our heritage against this neo-colonial overreach by the state apparatus.

Awka Kingdom remains indivisible, our traditions unbreakable, and our monarch unassailable.

Signed,

Awka Council of Kingmakers

PoliticsCoalition Of Human Rights And Justice Defenders Blasts Governor Soludo by Peoplesadvocate(op): 8:45pm On Jan 01
Coalition of Human Rights and Justice Defenders Blasts Governor Soludo Over Alleged Assault on Anambra Traditional Institution

A coalition of civil society organizations under the umbrella of the Coalition of Human Rights and Justice Defenders has fiercely condemned Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for what it describes as a "systematic war" against the revered traditional institution in Anambra State.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Wednesday, the group spokesman Comrade Anayo Uba accused the Soludo administration of showing blatant disrespect and disregard for traditional rulers, eroding the cultural heritage and autonomy of Igbo kingship in the state.

"The actions of Governor Soludo amount to a deliberate assault on our sacred traditional institutions," the statement read. "His administration has engaged in acts of intimidation, humiliation, and arbitrary sanctions against monarchs who dare to exercise their customary rights, turning the government into an instrument of dictatorship rather than partnership."

The coalition highlighted several specific instances of alleged misconduct:

-A sustained calumny campaign against His Imperial Majesty Obi Austin Ndigwe, MON, JP, Ezeuzu of Awka, including public denials of his authority and recent disowning of chieftaincy titles conferred under his auspices, despite ongoing disputes.

- The controversial removal of the highly respected Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, as Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council in 2025, following years of tension, which the group claims was punitive for the monarch's opposition to perceived dictatorial tendencies.

- The 2024 suspension of Igwe Damian Ezeani of Neni and other traditional rulers for conferring chieftaincy titles on the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, an action widely criticized at the time as politically motivated and dehumanizing, even though later reversed amid public outcry.

"These are not isolated incidents but a pattern of authoritarian overreach," the coalition declared. "Governor Soludo's government treats our royal fathers as subordinates rather than custodians of our culture and partners in governance. This erosion of respect threatens the very fabric of Anambra society and sets a dangerous precedent for subnational tyranny."

The group warned that continued attacks on the traditional institution could lead to deeper societal divisions and loss of public trust in the administration.

"We call on Governor Soludo to immediately cease these provocative actions, restore dignity to the traditional rulers council, and engage in genuine dialogue with our monarchs. Failure to do so will provoke widespread resistance from civil society and the people of Anambra."

The Pettiness of Power: Governor Soludo's Shameful Assault on Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu's Enduring Legacy

By Dr. Eze Chidubem,
Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka

In the annals of Nigerian politics, few figures loom as large as Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the iconic leader whose vision birthed the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and whose indomitable spirit continues to symbolize Igbo resilience and unity.

Yet, under the stewardship of Anambra State Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, this hallowed legacy is being systematically undermined through a series of petty, vindictive actions that reek of insecurity and ingratitude. What should be a time for honoring Ojukwu's contributions has devolved into a calculated campaign of erasure, disrespect, and outright hostility most egregiously manifested in the recent assault on his widow, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu's chieftaincy title. This is not governance; it is a betrayal of APGA's foundational ethos, and it demands unflinching condemnation.

Let us begin with the most recent outrage:
the Anambra State Government's brazen disowning of Bianca Ojukwu's chieftaincy title, labeling it "fake" and "illegal." As Nigeria's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and a pillar of diplomacy, Bianca embodies the grace and strength that Ojukwu championed. Her title, conferred by traditional institutions, is not merely a personal honor but a nod to the Ojukwu family's enduring role in Igbo cultural and political life.

Soludo's administration, through inflammatory press releases and media attacks, has sought to humiliate her, warning her against its use and casting aspersion on her person. This is no administrative correction; it is a direct assault on Ojukwu's memory, using his widow as a proxy to diminish the family's stature. Such pettiness exposes a governor more concerned with consolidating personal power than respecting the icons who paved his path.

This incident is not isolated but part of a broader pattern of erasure. Reports dating back to Soludo's early days in office reveal a deliberate removal of Ojukwu's image from APGA campaign materials, uniforms, and billboards, a symbolic decapitation of the party's founding father.

In 2021, during Soludo's gubernatorial campaign, Ojukwu's likeness vanished from party souvenirs and fabrics, replaced in some instances as Soludo rebranded APGA as a "Solution" entity. By 2023 and into 2025, this purge extended to official uniforms and promotional items, signaling a clear intent to sever APGA from its Ojukwu roots. Critics at the time decried this as a lack of regard for Ojukwu's history, yet Soludo pressed on, effectively airbrushing the Eze Igbo Gburugburu from the party's visual identity. This is not modernization; it is historical vandalism, an effort to rewrite APGA's narrative as if Ojukwu's sacrifices in the Biafran struggle and his establishment of the party in 2003 were mere footnotes.

Compounding this disrespect is Soludo's apparent refusal to honour Ojukwu's legacies in meaningful ways. While lip service is paid to infrastructure and development, the governor has overlooked opportunities to commemorate Ojukwu's contributions through memorials, educational programs, or cultural initiatives that could immortalize his role in Nigerian history. Instead, Soludo's administration has focused on self-aggrandizing "legacy projects," touring them with fanfare while sidelining the man whose vision enabled APGA's dominance in Anambra. This omission speaks volumes: a leader insecure in his own achievements seeks to eclipse those of his predecessors, even at the cost of alienating the Igbo base that reveres Ojukwu.

Perhaps the most damning revelation is Soludo's alleged statements that calls for the "trial" of the late Ojukwu during his lifetime, ostensibly to scrutinize his actions in the civil war era. Whispers in political circles and indirect criticisms in Soludo's responses to detractors suggest a willingness to revisit and tarnish Ojukwu's decisions for contemporary gain. Such rhetoric represents the height of ingratitude, especially from a governor who rode to power on the APGA platform Ojukwu founded. It fuels perceptions of a concerted effort to erase Ojukwu's legacy, as evidenced by attacks on former allies and the broader rebranding of APGA away from its Ojukwu-centric origins.

These actions are not just political missteps; they are a profound betrayal. Ojukwu is the eternal leader of APGA, his spirit the unseen force behind every victory the party has claimed, including Soludo's own in 2021 and 2025. As Bianca herself noted in the wake of that election, Ojukwu's invocation propelled APGA forward, proving his legacy's undying vitality. To diminish him now is to invite the wrath of history and the people.

Soludo must cease this pettiness, restore Ojukwu's imagery and honors, and issue a public apology to Bianca and the Ojukwu family. Failure to do so will not only tarnish his tenure but ensure that APGA's future victories—if any—come despite him, not because of him. The spirit of Ikemba lives on; no amount of erasure can extinguish it.

In a statement issued on New Year's Day, the group National Coordinator, AMB. Timothy Nwachukwu LLB praised Gen. The Illustrious Legacy of Honourable Peter Uzokwe: A Symphony of Service in 2025

By Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu

Honourable Peter Ifeanyi Uzokwe, the esteemed Member of the House of Representatives for Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal ConstituencyI is among the few federal lawmakers who shined brightly in the 2025 Legislative year. As 2025 draws to a close, we reflect upon a year where his unwavering commitment to humanity, innovation, and governance has illuminated the path for his constituents and the nation at large.

A first-term legislator with the soul of a statesman, Hon. Uzokwe affectionately known as Dike-Udo has transformed challenges into triumphs, blending empathy with strategic vision to foster progress. His accomplishments this year are not mere milestones; they are beacons of hope, resonating with the rhythm of a leader who places people at the heart of every endeavor.

The year began with a poignant milestone: the commemoration of Hon. Uzokwe's one-year anniversary in the Green Chamber on February 9, 2025. This occasion was more than a ceremonial nod; it marked the culmination of a transformative inaugural year, where he laid the groundwork for enduring change. Drawing from his rich background, a Diploma in History and Strategy Studies, a BSc in Sociology, and an MSc in Criminology in progress, Hon. Uzokwe has channeled his expertise into legislative pursuits that prioritize education and societal well-being.

As a member of the Committee on the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), he has been instrumental in advocating for accessible student financing, ensuring that the youth of his constituency and beyond are equipped to build a brighter future. His passion for education, rooted in the belief that it bridges the chasm between poverty and prosperity, has inspired policies aimed at empowering the next generation.

Yet, Hon. Uzokwe's leadership transcends the halls of the National Assembly; it pulses through the veins of humanitarian action. In August 2025, he fulfilled a solemn commitment to the victims of a tragic tipper accident at Chisco Junction in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area. Through a dedicated delegation, he extended cash assistance to bereaved families and survivors, covering medical bills and offering solace in their hour of need. This act of compassion was not born of obligation but of a profound sense of responsibility, echoing his earlier visits where he personally consoled the afflicted. In a world often marred by indifference, Hon. Uzokwe's gesture stands as a testament to the healing power of empathetic governance, reinforcing his role as a guardian of his people's welfare.

Economic empowerment emerged as another crescendo in Hon. Uzokwe's 2025 symphony. In September, during an appearance on Channels Television's "The Gavel," he eloquently championed investment in Nnewi's burgeoning tech talent to propel national growth. Highlighting the region's industrial prowess—exemplified by Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM), he advocated for an Institute of Entrepreneurship Development in collaboration with IVM. This visionary proposal seeks to nurture practical skills through apprenticeships, addressing the looming shortage of technical expertise and steering youth away from the allure of white-collar pursuits toward self-reliant innovation. His words, delivered with the gravitas of a seasoned entrepreneur (having led Trustworth Int'l Ltd. in customs brokerage and logistics), underscore a blueprint for economic revitalization, where local talent becomes the engine of Nigeria's prosperity.

Throughout the year, Hon. Uzokwe's voice reverberated in the legislative arena, adding depth to national discourse. In December, he lent his insight to the ongoing Constitution Amendment debates, pushing for reforms that enhance national security, electoral integrity, and inclusive governance. His contributions during a special plenary on Nigeria's security challenges were particularly stirring; he called for a people-centered strategy, questioning lapses in military deployments and urging accountability. These interventions, marked by clarity and conviction, reflect his criminological acumen and dedication to a safer Nigeria. Moreover, his hosting of youth corps members from his constituency at the National Assembly in November bridged generational divides, inspiring young minds with firsthand exposure to democratic processes.

Hon. Uzokwe's media presence further amplified his influence. His December appearance on Channels TV's "Politics Today" showcased his articulate defense of progressive policies, from youth empowerment to infrastructural development. Even amidst political shifts—such as his principled stance on party matters, leading to notable decisions within the Young Progressive Party—he remained steadfast in his allegiance to good governance, earning respect across divides.

As we bid farewell to 2025, Honourable Peter Uzokwe's accomplishments compose a harmonious ode to service. From humanitarian outreaches that mend broken spirits to economic advocacy that ignites innovation, and legislative strides that fortify the nation, his year has been a masterclass in purposeful leadership. Honoured with accolades like the United Nations Peace Ambassador Award, yet he continues to embody excellence. Married to Nonye and father to four, his personal life mirrors his public ethos: grounded, resilient, and forward-looking.

In Hon. Uzokwe, Nigeria finds not just a representative, but a visionary architect of tomorrow. May his journey inspire us all to embrace service with the same grace and determination, forging a legacy that endures beyond the calendar's turn.

A Beacon of Resolve: The Exemplary Leadership of Maj.-Gen. Adamu Laka in 2025

In Nigeria's enduring struggle against the insidious forces of terrorism, one name emerges as a luminous thread of hope and fortitude: Major-General Adamu Garba Laka, the indomitable Director-General of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC). As 2025 draws to a close, we reflect upon a year where his visionary stewardship transformed challenges into triumphs, weaving a narrative of resilience, innovation, and unyielding commitment to national security. Under his guidance, the NCTC has not merely reacted to threats but has proactively sculpted a safer future for the nation, embodying the spirit of a guardian who stands vigilant amidst the storm.

The year began with a clarion call for strategic evolution, as Maj.-Gen. Laka spearheaded the launch of Nigeria's National Counter Terrorism Centre's Strategic Plan 2025–2030. This ambitious blueprint, unveiled in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), charts a comprehensive path to dismantle terrorist networks through enhanced prevention, rehabilitation, and international cooperation. In an illuminating interview, Laka articulated a vision that integrates cutting-edge intelligence with community-driven initiatives, ensuring that Nigeria's defenses are as adaptive as the threats they confront. This plan stands as a testament to his foresight, positioning Nigeria as a regional leader in counter-terrorism efforts.

Building on this foundation, the Federal Government, under Laka's orchestration, introduced the revamped National Counter-Terrorism Strategy for 2025. This pivotal document emphasizes interagency collaboration, fostering a symphony of unified action among security forces to amplify efficiency and impact. Laka's emphasis on prevention, resilience, and inclusivity particularly through community engagement has redefined the nation's approach, shifting from reactive measures to proactive safeguards that embed strength within the very fabric of society. His draft of the National Counter Terrorism Strategy (NACTEST) 2025, slated for official unveiling by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, underscores a holistic framework that addresses root causes like unemployment and extremism, illuminating pathways to enduring peace.

One of the most resounding achievements of 2025 under Maj.-Gen. Laka's tenure has been the NCTC's robust crackdown on digital terrorism. Recognizing the pernicious role of social media in amplifying extremist propaganda, Laka forged unprecedented partnerships with global platforms including TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and X (formerly Twitter). Through tireless engagements, his team successfully dismantled countless accounts exploited by terrorists for recruitment, fundraising, and showcasing atrocities. "If you knew how many accounts we took down," Laka remarked during an end-of-year briefing in Abuja, highlighting the cessation of bandit livestreams and loot displays that once plagued these networks. This digital vigilance extended to curbing the use of point-of-sale (POS) operators for ransom payments, severing financial lifelines to criminal elements and restoring a measure of tranquility to vulnerable communities.

Laka's diplomatic acumen shone brightly in fortifying international alliances. In January, he hosted a stock-take meeting with UK counterparts, chronicling shared successes in the UK-Nigeria Security and Defence Partnership, from training programs to joint operations that have bolstered bilateral resolve. September saw the NCTC welcoming US Army officials, deepening collaboration against threats in West Africa and the Sahel. A landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the African Union further amplified Nigeria's role in regional anti-terrorism, aligning with the 2024 Abuja Process Declaration. These partnerships, nurtured by Laka's strategic diplomacy, have elevated Nigeria's stature on the global stage, transforming isolation into a web of supportive solidarity.

Amidst these macro-strides, Laka's commitment to human-centered security is profoundly inspiring. He reaffirmed the government's unwavering dedication to rescuing the remaining Chibok schoolgirls and Leah Sharibu, declaring that "rescue efforts are ongoing, and they have not been forgotten." Initiatives like specialized training for first responders in handling Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)—the Northeast's deadliest scourge—have enhanced rapid response capabilities, saving countless lives. Furthermore, a high-level Policy Dialogue on Victims’ Assistance and Violent Extremism Prevention convened stakeholders to support those scarred by terror, embodying Laka's ethos of compassion intertwined with combat.

The fruits of Laka's reforms are quantifiable and transformative: over 775 convictions of terrorists, strategic overhauls, and stringent financial oversight that have curtailed illicit funding. His vigilant protection of Nigeria's mineral resources from criminal exploitation underscores a sovereign duty fulfilled with economic wisdom. Even in the realm of anti-kidnapping operations, Laka's enhancements have fortified responses, ensuring swifter justice and safer terrains.

As we extol Maj.-Gen. Adamu Laka's accomplishments in 2025, we celebrate not just a leader, but a luminary whose actions have illuminated the path from peril to promise. His tenure at the NCTC has been a masterclass in resolve, blending tactical prowess with empathetic governance. In a world fraught with uncertainty, Laka's legacy is a beacon, guiding Nigeria toward a horizon of peace and prosperity. May his indomitable spirit continue to inspire generations, fortifying the nation's resolve against the encroaching darkness.

*Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite: A Luminary of Fiscal Innovation and National Renewal in 2025*

By Timothy Nwachukwu -

The Success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's government will be incomplete without the acknowledgement of the unprecedented impact made by Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, the indomitable Minister of State for Finance. A woman of profound intellect and unyielding resolve, she has emerged not merely as a steward of the nation's coffers but as a visionary architect of prosperity, bridging divides and igniting hope across the land. From the corridors of global finance to the grassroots of youth empowerment, her accomplishments this year stand as a testament to what grace, grit, and genius can achieve in service to a nation on the rise.

The year began with Dr. Uzoka-Anite's pivotal role in steering Nigeria toward fiscal stability, a journey marked by her instrumental efforts in exiting the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list by the second quarter of 2025. This milestone, achieved through meticulous reforms and international collaboration, restored Nigeria's standing in the global financial arena, signaling to investors worldwide that the country was a beacon of credibility and opportunity. Her expertise and financial acumen honed through years of public service proved indispensable in navigating these complex waters, turning potential peril into a platform for growth.

As the seasons unfolded, Dr. Uzoka-Anite's influence extended to the heart of Nigeria's health sector, where she championed macro-economic reforms that yielded remarkable progress. Under her guidance, investments flowed into sustainable initiatives, enhancing healthcare infrastructure and accessibility for millions. Her commitment to holistic development was evident: not content with mere policy, she reiterated the government's dedication to reforms that uplift lives, fostering an environment where economic vitality and human well-being intertwine seamlessly.

October brought Dr. Uzoka-Anite to the global stage at the 2025 World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings in Washington, D.C., where she represented Nigeria with eloquence and authority. Her recaps from these gatherings illuminated Nigeria's strides in fiscal innovation and private-sector growth, drawing admiration from international peers. It was here that her voice resonated as a clarion call for collaborative prosperity, underscoring her role in fortifying Nigeria's position amid global economic currents.

Yet, perhaps her most enduring legacy of 2025 lies in her unwavering dedication to empowering the next generation. In a crowning achievement, Dr. Uzoka-Anite helped conceive and expand the SkillUp Imo programme, a transformative initiative that has trained over 50,000 young Nigerians in cutting-edge digital skills. This year alone, 10,000 graduates emerged proficient in app development, data analytics, AI, cybersecurity, fintech, digital marketing, cloud computing, and IoT—fields poised to propel Nigeria into a digital renaissance. With a special emphasis on young girls and women in STEM, she pledged scholarships, mentorship, and broader access, ensuring that no talent is left untapped. Her pledge to empower an additional 5,000 youths further cements her as a torchbearer for inclusive progress.

November marked another pinnacle when Dr. Uzoka-Anite was unveiled as the APC South-East Regional Leader and the first Female Matron of the APC Youth League—a historic honor bestowed upon her for her integrity, capacity, and results-driven leadership. This recognition echoed her earlier triumphs as Commissioner for Finance in Imo State, where she refined economic blueprints into tangible growth. In her federal role, she orchestrated the $2.25 billion Eurobond issuance, which attracted oversubscriptions exceeding $13 billion, bolstering Nigeria's fiscal resilience and investor confidence.

December's developments further elevated her stature, as President Tinubu entrusted her with expanded responsibilities in the Ministry of Finance, including oversight of revenue generation, distribution, domestic debt management, and customs. This overhaul underscored her prowess, positioning her at the vanguard of Nigeria's economic revitalization. Amid these duties, she graced events like the Imo State Economic Summit and the BUA Group's Night of Excellence, fostering partnerships and celebrating excellence. A courtesy visit from Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong highlighted her collaborative spirit, proving that true leadership thrives on unity.

Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite is more than a minister; she is a bridge-builder across regions and cultures, a daughter of Oguta whose name reverberates with honor nationwide. In 2025, she has not only navigated Nigeria through turbulent times but has sown seeds of enduring prosperity. As the year draws to a close, her story inspires us all: a reminder that with vision and valor, one individual can illuminate the path for an entire nation.

PoliticsSdgs Council Calls For Discreet Probe Into Arrest Of 48 Nigerians I. Ghana by Peoplesadvocate(op): 5:07pm On Dec 24, 2025
*SDGS COUNCIL COORDINATOR CALLS FOR DISCREET PROBE INTO ARREST OF 48 SUSPECTED CYBERCRIMINALS IN GHANA*

Ambassador Timothy Nwachukwu, National Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Council in the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement, has urged authorities to conduct a discreet and thorough investigation into the recent arrest of 48 individuals, believed to be Nigerian nationals, by Ghanaian security forces on suspicion of cybercrime.

The arrests occurred in the early hours of December 24, 2025, during an intelligence-led nighttime operation in Dawhenya, within Ghana's Ningo-Prampram Constituency in the Greater Accra Region. The operation, led by Ghana's Cyber Security Authority (CSA) with support from National Security and the Ghana Police Service, targeted alleged organized cybercrime networks.

According to Ghanaian officials, including Minister for Communications and Digital Technology Samuel Nartey George, the 48 suspects—comprising 46 males and two females were apprehended across four locations. Seized items included 54 laptops, 39 mobile phones, one Starlink device, and eight MTN TurboNet routers, reportedly used in illicit activities such as online fraud and scams.

In a statement, Amb. Nwachukwu emphasized the need for caution and fairness, stating that while cybercrime remains a serious transnational issue requiring cooperation between Nigeria and Ghana, any investigation must be handled discreetly to establish facts, protect the rights of the individuals involved, and avoid unnecessary escalation of bilateral tensions.

"Allegations of criminal activity must be substantiated through due process," Nwachukwu said. "We call for a transparent yet discreet probe to determine the true nationality and involvement of those arrested, ensuring innocent persons are not wrongly implicated."

The incident comes amid ongoing efforts by Ghanaian authorities to crack down on cybercrime syndicates, with similar operations in recent months targeting foreign nationals suspected of similar offenses. Nigerian officials have historically advocated for diplomatic channels in such cases to safeguard citizens abroad.

The Nigerian High Commission in Accra is reportedly monitoring the situation, while investigations continue on both sides. Amb. Nwachukwu reiterated Nigeria's commitment to combating cybercrime regionally but stressed the importance of upholding human rights and presuming innocence until proven otherwise.

Timothy Nwachukwu has announced plans to launch *Global Diplomatic Conversations*, an international platform designed to foster high-level dialogues among diplomats, policymakers, youth leaders, and stakeholders worldwide. The initiative aims to accelerate progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Ambassador Nwachukwu, who serves as the National Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Goals Council under the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement, is a prominent figure in Nigeria's push for sustainable development. He has previously facilitated diplomatic engagements between Nigeria and nations including Ethiopia, Russia, Kuwait, and the United States, often aligning efforts with the UN Agenda 2030.

The platform will serve as a series of forums, virtual and in-person summits, and collaborative discussions to address pressing global challenges such as poverty reduction, climate action, education, gender equality, and economic partnerships. It builds on Nwachukwu's extensive experience in youth advocacy, good governance, and cross-border cooperation, including his work with organizations like the Youth Advocates For Peace Justice And Empowerment Network (YAPJEN) and recent engagements with U.S. officials to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Nigeria.

"Global Diplomatic Conversations will create inclusive spaces for meaningful exchanges that drive actionable outcomes for the SDGs," Nwachukwu stated in a recent announcement. "We are bringing together diverse voices from government representatives to civil society and private sector leaders, we can amplify impact and ensure no one is left behind in the global development agenda."

The launch is expected to feature initial sessions focused on Africa’s role in achieving the SDGs, leveraging partnerships with embassies, international organizations, and youth networks. Details on the inaugural event, including dates and participants, will be shared in the coming weeks.

This initiative comes amid Nigeria's ongoing efforts to reposition itself as a key player in global diplomacy, with Ambassador Nwachukwu's work emphasizing strategic engagements that promote peace, economic growth, and sustainable progress.
