Education7 Reasons Students Graduate With Poor Grades In The University. by pepigeorge(op): 7:45am On May 07, 2016
1.Lack of Ambition: 50% of students enter the university without a goal or ambition. some see it as opportunity to be free from parental control, so they behave like a dog released from the cage for the first time. They roam the girls hostels, they hangout with friends to drink and gist about women, they attend all the parties in school.Carried away by social activities in school, they miss classes and copy all assignments. Three months a semester seem like three years, until is a week to exam. If you enter university with the dream of a first class and u work towards it, the least you end up with is 2.1

2.Cultism: Some students already nurse the ambition of becoming a cultist even before gaining admission into the university. when they gain admission into the university, they quickly align themselves with cultist friends , relatives and neighbors like Jackie Chan learning from his master. when they eventually become cultist, they become so committed like a new Christian convert. they hardly attend classes, they are carried away by the short live pleasure- intimation, womanizing, robbing etc. before they realize, their best grade is C and ocean of carryovers. From 200level, they already know they will spill over.

3. Prostitution (Aristoism): This is common among females students. they are easily intimated by their fellow female hostel mates or classmates. They see her with the latest electronic gadgets (phones- i- phones, pad, laptops,), expensive weavons, clothes and jewelries. it starts with envy, later discovery of her source of income and aligning. they leave school to PH, Lagos, Abuja and nearby happening towns to prostitute, so as to belong to the big babes class. They are engrossed in social media networks like a yahoo boy to dating site or gambler to Nairabet. They have little or no time to study. They believe they can buy their way through with their body Unfortunately most graduate with very poor grades.

4. Internet Scam: Common with male students , they are called G boys or yahoo boys. they invest their time on internet scam. Day and night they are looking for Manga. They believe they would make money and buy their way out of school. Some are lucky but many are unlucky.

5. Gambling: some students spend their time on Nairabet, merry bet etc. Their weekend are always occupied, sometimes Tuesdays and Wednesdays also. They research betting prediction sites and odds like a scientist researching on the cure for HIV. They are always broke and lose focus of the main reason they are in the university. They eventually come out of school with very bad grades.

6. Late Reading: Many students start reading when they see the examination timetable. They have no time to cover all the topics. Some result to cramming, bad idea. Other result to examination malpractice because the coursework become cumbersome and difficult to understand within that short period.

7. Making Friends with rich unserious students: They are always drinking, clubbing and womanising. The rich student has father’s investment to inherit. Final year, their parents with give them huge sum of money to bribe their way out of school leaving you high and dry. If their grades are poor, their rich parents send them abroad for masters or fix them up. The rich kid is not bothered about his grade but you the friend should be bothered about yours.

EPISODE 1

Uche woke up 8am that Wednesday morning feeling very weak and back to the reality that he was still unemployed. The headache was unbearable, he had too much to drink the previous night. This has been his normal routine since the last one year of his unemployment years.

'What did I even drink' he thought, (trying to remember)

Four shots of local gin (monkey tail) and two bottles of star, few drags of SK and almost half a packet of B&H. He thought about the stuffs he took and he pitied his inner organs, especially his lungs and kidney. He checked his phone which he had always kept on the window close to his bed, there was no message, no hope. He slowly got off his bed and switched on his television, it was a 14" flat cathode ray television he used when he was in the university. He searched through the channels of his CTL decoder and went directly to the channel that has been of interest and consolation for the last six months "Nat geo wild".
On his screen was Chita stalking an antelope, he has seen it before and many other predators stalking their prey. The fastest animal stealthily undetected by the antelope came to about 50m of his prey, his meal and exploded with a furious speed. in three strides, the Chita has reached its maximum speed of 120miles/hour. the kill was swift. he imagined his life,

' am I actually been stalk by poverty' he thought sadly.

He went out of his room to the sitting room, he did not see any of his family member , he felt relief. he quickly dashed to the fridge to get water, he drank about a litre of water yet the headache was still there. He took 2 tablets of paracetamol from the first aid box from one of the cabinet in the shelf in his family sitting room. He swallowed with another gulp of water.
Uche came from a family of four siblings, two girls and two boys. he was the second child and first son. the eldest ,Ebere, was a gal who was married with two kids leaving happily with her husband. The second gal, Joan, his favorites was working as a lab technician. their last brother Joe was still in school. his mother was a secondary school principal and his father, a retired civil servant.
He opened the coolers in the kitchen, he smiled went he saw rice and stew garnished with turkey meat. he thought about his sister who had prepared the meal before leaving for work, and he offered a little prayer for his sister

'God please give my sister a very good husband '.

He quickly served rice into a large breakable plate and took 2 heavy chuck of turkey meat and went straight to his room to devour the food.
He took a spoonful and was about to put it in his mouth when he remember that he had not brushed his teeth that morning, he smiled and ate the first spoon,
'I will brush later' he convinced himself.
he finished eaten the first plate, he went back and dished another, he came to his room and ate. As he was chewing the last turkey bone, he glanced at his television and saw hyena cracking the last bone of a death meat.
'we are all alike' he smile to himself.
After dishing his plate in the kitchen, he came back to his room and lay on his bed still watching wide life, this time, a pride of lion trying to hunt down a buffalo from an herd of buffalos. He admired the skills the lions employed, trying to cause pandemonium in the herd and encircle one for a kill. His phone biped, it was a text message,

'this MTN and their useless text message', he murmured inside as he sluggishly picked his phone.

He saw a number not saved on his phone, he was curious. He opened the text and read the message eyes wide open, it reads:

"This is to inform you that you are invited for an aptitude test, scheduled..........,
Venue: conference room, Sansi hotel, ordinance, Port Harcourt.
Time: 10:00am.
Check your email for details.
Drilldata Nigeria Ltd"

He read the message for the third time, to get all the details. The aptitude test was on Saturday, three days time.

'This is my opportunity, I won't miss it
' , he shouted joyfully
Fred his friend w as employed in Drilldata a year ago and had informed him a month ago about the job opportunity and had encouraged him to apply, which Uche did.
He Quickly rushed into the bathroom for his morning drill. he came out feeling refreshed. Fully naked in front of his large mirror, he applied his cream while admiring himself in the mirror. He was chocolate in complexion, handsome, tall, broad shoulders, oval face, red lips, white good set of teeth, a pointing nose he heredity from his mother and bushy eyebrows from his father. Six out of seven women would pass him and looked at him twice. These features were been threaten by his way of life- frustration from joblessness, monkey tail (cheap highness), SK, Jackies and B&H. One of his friends has once mimicked him

'Uche you are very handsome in a brutish way, you will make fortune being a gigolo instead of searching for job'

Uche thought about his friend statement why looking at his dangling huge well-endowed Agba.., he smiled,

I am a complete man, I would sure have made it being a gigolo
, he thought (why still smiling)

PoliticsThe Effects Of Oil Price Fall On Countries by pepigeorge(op): 9:21pm On May 03, 2016
Many countries that depend on the exportation of crude oil are paying the price of bad economy in their respective countries due to crude oil price fall. Global oil prices have fallen sharply over the past seven months, leading to significant revenue shortfalls in many energy exporting nations most especially Nigeria while consumers in many importing countries like England are likely to have to pay less to heat their homes or drive their cars.
From 2010 until mid-2014, world oil prices had been fairly stable, at around $110 a barrel. But since June prices have more than halved. Brent crude oil has now dipped below $50 a barrel for the first time since May 2009 and US crude is down to below $48 a barrel.
The reasons for this change are twofold – weak demand in many countries due to insipid economic growth, coupled with surging US production.
Added to this is the fact that the oil cartel Opec is
determined not to cut production as a way to prop up prices.
So who are some of the winners and losers?
Russia: Propping up the rouble
Russia is one of the world’s largest oil producers, and its dramatic interest rate hike to 17% in support of its troubled rouble underscores how heavily its economy depends on energy revenues, with oil and gas accounting for 70% of export incomes.
Russia loses about $2bn in revenues for every dollar fall in the oil price, and the World Bank has warned that Russia’s economy would shrink by at least 0.7% in 2015 if oil prices do not recover.
Despite this, Russia has confirmed it will not cut production to shore up oil prices.
“If we cut, the importer countries will increase their production and this will mean a loss of our niche market,” said Energy Minister Alexander Novak.
Falling oil prices, coupled with western sanctions over Russia’s support for separatists in eastern Ukraine have hit the country hard.
The government has cut its growth forecast for 2015, predicting that the economy will sink into recession.
Former finance minister, Alexei Kudrin, said the currency’s fall was not just a reaction to lower oil prices and western sanctions, “but also [a show of] distrust to the economic policies of the government”.
Given the pressures facing Moscow now, some economists expect further measures to shore up the currency.
“We think capital controls as a policy measure cannot be off the table now,” said Luis Costa, a senior analyst at Citi.
While President Putin is not using the word “crisis”, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has been more forthright on Russia’s economic problems.
“Frankly, we, strictly speaking, have not fully recovered from the crisis of 2008,” he said in a recent interview.
Because of the twin impact of falling oil prices and sanctions, he said the government had had to cut spending. “We had to abandon a number of programmes and make certain sacrifices.”
Russia’s interest rate rise may also bring its own problems, as high rates can choke economic growth by making it harder for businesses to borrow and spend.
Venezuela: No subsidy cuts
Venezuela is one of the world’s largest oil exporters, but thanks to economic mismanagement it was already finding it difficult to pay its way even before the oil price started falling.
Inflation is running at about 60% and the economy is teetering on the brink of recession. The need for spending cuts is clear, but the government faces difficult choices.
The country already has some of the world’s cheapest petrol prices – fuel subsidies cost Caracas about $12.5bn a year – but President Maduro has ruled out subsidy cuts and higher petrol prices.
“I’ve considered as head of state, that the moment has not arrived,” he said. “There’s no rush, we’re not going to throw more gasoline on the fire that already exists with speculation and induced inflation.”
The government’s caution is understandable. A petrol price rise in 1989 saw widespread riots that left hundreds dead.
Saudi Arabia: Price versus market share
Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil exporter and Opec’s most influential member, could support global oil prices by cutting back its own production, but there is little sign it wants to do this.
There could be two reasons – to try to instil some discipline among fellow Opec oil producers, and perhaps to put the US’s burgeoning shale oil and gas industry under pressure.
Although Saudi Arabia needs oil prices to be around $85 in the longer term, it has deep pockets with a reserve fund of some $700bn – so can withstand lower prices for some time.
“In terms of production and pricing of oil by Middle East producers, they are beginning to recognise the challenge of US production,” says Robin Mills, Manaar Energy’s head of consulting.
If a period of lower prices were to force some higher cost producers to shut down, then Riyadh might hope to pick up market share in the longer run.
However, there is also recent history behind Riyadh’s unwillingness to cut production. In the 1980s the country did cut production significantly in a bid to boost prices, but it had little effect and it also badly affected the Saudi economy.
Opec: Not all are equal
Alongside Saudi Arabia, Gulf producers such as the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait have also amassed considerable foreign currency reserves, which means that they could run deficits for several years if necessary.
Other Opec members such as Iran, Iraq and Nigeria, with greater domestic budgetary demands because of their large population sizes in relation to their oil revenues, have less room for manoeuvre.
They have combined foreign currency reserves of less than $200bn, and are already under pressure from increased US competition.
Nigeria, which is Africa’s biggest oil producer, has seen growth in the rest of its economy but despite this it remains heavily oil-dependent. Energy sales account for up to 80% of all government revenue and more than 90% of the country’s exports.
The war in Syria and Iraq has also seen Isis, or Islamic State, capturing oil wells. It is estimated it is making about $3m a day through black market sales – and undercutting market prices by selling at a significant discount – around $30-60 a barrel.
United States: Fracking boom
“The growth of oil production in North America, particularly in the US, has been staggering,” says Columbia University’s Jason Bordoff.
Speaking to BBC World Service’s World Business Report, he said that US oil production levels were at their highest in almost 30 years.
It has been this growth in US energy production, where gas and oil is extracted from shale formations using hydraulic fracturing or fracking, that has been one of the main drivers of lower oil prices.
“Shale has essentially severed the linkage between geopolitical turmoil in the Middle East, and oil price and equities,” says Seth Kleinman, head of energy strategy at Citi.
Even though many US shale oil producers have far higher costs than conventional rivals, many need to carry on pumping to generate at least some revenue stream to pay off debts and other costs.
Europe and Asia: Mixed blessings
With Europe’s flagging economies characterised by low inflation and weak growth, any benefits of lower prices would be welcomed by beleaguered governments.
A 10% fall in oil prices should lead to a 0.1% increase in economic output, say some. In general consumers benefit through lower energy prices, but eventually low oil prices do erode the conditions that brought them about.
China, which is set to become the largest net importer of oil, should gain from falling prices. However, lower oil prices won’t fully offset the far wider effects of a slowing economy.
Japan imports nearly all of the oil it uses. But lower prices are a mixed blessing because high energy prices had helped to push inflation higher, which has been a key part of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s growth strategy to combat deflation.
India imports 75% of its oil, and analysts say falling oil prices will ease its current account deficit. At the same time, the cost of India’s fuel subsidies could fall by $2.5bn this year – but only if oil prices stay low.

Christianity EtcGod's Standard For Dressing by pepigeorge(op): 1:42pm On May 01, 2016
Fashion has affected the way we dress today, but for a Christian, the bible remain the guard line for his way of life including dressing. Below are what the bible says about a Christian's dressing:

1. Wearing clothing of the opposite sex

In the old testament, the book of Deuteronomy has a prohibition against dressing in clothing of the opposite sex:

A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this. (NIV, Deuteronomy 22:5)

No one knows for sure whether this prohibition was intended as a general principle or was directed at some specific abuse among the ancient Hebrews. Cross-dressing was likely considered an affront to the natural distinction between the sexes (Genesis 1:27). It may also have been related to some deviant sexual practice, or more likely, to pagan worship. It is known that some pagan rituals of that time involved women wearing armor and men dressing as women, and the Hebrews were forbidden to do anything that had even the appearance of pagan worship.

Some people think this verse would prohibit women from wearing pants because pants have traditionally been worn by men. But, in light of the similarity of men's and women's clothing in Biblical times and the fact that pants were not worn by either sex at that time, that conclusion would be difficult to justify.

2. Mixed Materials

There was also a prohibition against wearing clothes woven of wool and linen together:

Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together. (NIV, Deuteronomy 22:11)

Again, no one is sure why this would be wrong. It may have been to avoid mixing things that God has created separately (Deuteronomy 22:9-11, Leviticus 19:19). Or, these mixtures may have been related to some idolatrous practice that the Hebrews were forbidden to imitate.

3. Proper Dress for Women

I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. (NIV, 1 Timothy 2:9-10)

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. (NIV, 1 Peter 3:2-5)

4. Covering the hair for Worship

In his letters to the church at Corinth, Paul responded to a number of questions the Corinthian Christians had asked him (1 Corinthians 7:1). One of those questions involved proper headwear during worship services. No one knows what the exact question was or what situation prompted it, but Paul gave this reply:

Any man who prays or prophesies with something on his head disgraces his head, but any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled disgraces her head--it is one and the same thing as having her head shaved. For if a woman will not veil herself, then she should cut off her hair; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or

to be shaved, she should wear a veil. For a man ought not to have his head veiled, since he is the image and reflection of God; but woman is the reflection of man. (NRSV, 1 Corinthians 11:4-7)

In a nutshell, dress modestly and avoid any style of dressing that is offensive or send negative message opposing the Christian values.

The Word of God proclaims, “A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent” (1 Timothy 2:11–12). In the church, God assigns different roles to men and women. This is a result of the way mankind was created and the way in which sin entered the world (1 Timothy 2:13–14). God, through the apostle Paul, restricts women from serving in roles of teaching and/or having spiritual authority over men. This precludes women from serving as pastors over men, which definitely includes preaching to them, teaching them publicly, and exercising spiritual authority over them.

There are many objections to this view of women in pastoral ministry. A common one is that Paul restricts women from teaching because in the first century, women were typically uneducated. However, 1 Timothy 2:11–14 nowhere mentions educational status. If education were a qualification for ministry, then the majority of Jesus’ disciples would not have been qualified. A second common objection is that Paul only restricted the women of Ephesus from teaching men (1 Timothy was written to Timothy, the pastor of the church in Ephesus). Ephesus was known for its temple to Artemis, and women were the authorities in that branch of paganism—therefore, the theory goes, Paul was only reacting against the female-led customs of the Ephesian idolaters, and the church needed to be different. However, the book of 1 Timothy nowhere mentions Artemis, nor does Paul mention the standard practice of Artemis worshipers as a reason for the restrictions in1 Timothy 2:11–12.

A third objection is that Paul is only referring to husbands and wives, not men and women in general. The Greek words for “woman” and “man” in 1 Timothy 2

could refer to husbands and wives; however, the basic meaning of the words is broader than that. Further, the same Greek words are used in verses 8–10. Are only husbands to lift up holy hands in prayer without anger and disputing (verse cool? Are only wives to dress modestly, have good deeds, and worship God (verses 9–10)? Of course not. Verses 8–10 clearly refer to all men and women, not just husbands and wives. There is nothing in the context that would indicate a narrowing to husbands and wives in verses 11–14.

Yet another objection to this interpretation of women in pastoral ministry is in relation to women who held positions of leadership in the Bible, specifically Miriam, Deborah, and Huldah in the Old Testament. It is true that these women were chosen by God for special service to Him and that they stand as models of faith, courage, and, yes, leadership. However, the authority of women in the Old Testament is not relevant to the issue of pastors in the church. The New Testament Epistles present a new paradigm for God’s people—the church, the body of Christ—and that paradigm involves an authority structure unique to the church, not for the nation of Israel or any other Old Testament entity.

In the end, the different interpretations does not change the biblical injunction on the roles of women in the church. The bible is our spiritual compass, follow the bible's teachings

Health5 Habits That Can Damage Your Kidney by pepigeorge(op): 10:47am On Apr 28, 2016
The kidney is one of the body organs that keep the body healthy by regulating blood pressure and filtering out toxins and extra fluid from your blood. Damage to the kidneys is often irreversible, so in honor of National Kidney Month, find out the five surprising ways that you could be damaging your kidneys.

Smoking cigarettes. The hazards of smoking on the lungs and heart are well-publicized, but studies have shown that people who smokes are likely to have protein in their urine, which is a sign of kidney damage. Diseases that affect the kidneys, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, are also exacerbated by smoking, and smokers are more likely to need dialysis or kidney transplants.

Eating and drinking lots of sugar. Too much sugar can lead to health problems such as diabetes and obesity, both risk factors for kidney disease. Eliminating sugar from your diet or reducing your sugar intake can reduce your risk for diabetes, obesity and kidney disease. If you cut back on the processed sugars, you’re also likely to lose calories, chemicals and sodium. Your waistline and your kidneys will thank you.

Exposure to contrast dyes commonly used in imaging. It’s important to make sure your physicians check your kidney function before you undergo any radiology procedures, such as CT scans, certain X-rays and angiograms. The dyes they must inject into your body to complete these tests can cause serious kidney problems.

Consuming high-sodium foods. One common sodium food is your common salt. Largeis quantities of sodium can increase blood pressure levels. High blood pressure damages the kidneys over time and is a leading cause of kidney failure. A high salt intake coupled with obesity is a recipe for disaster. This combination is particularly potent at speeding the complications of high blood pressure, heart disease and kidney disease.

Using painkillers for a long duration of time.Long-term use of certain pain medications, especially at high doses, has a harmful effect on kidney tissue and structures. Both over-the-counter and prescription pain medications can damage and reduce blood flow to the kidneys.

Buhari's silence on the prevalent killings of Fulani herdsmen is absolutely appalling. It's attitude towards his kinsmen total disregard of human life has left many Nigerians with curious questions like: Was it buhari's promise to his kinsmen? Is he trying to actualize his threat " both the blood of baboons and monkeys will flow if..." even after becoming the president? Is is a repetition if usman dan fodio takeover of Nigeria?
There have been a lot of murders of defenseless Nigerians by these barbaric Fulani herdsmen yet the government is telling Nigerians that he silently working on it. I wonder while he is not also working silently to quell the insurgency of boko haram or pipeline vandalisation of the Niger delta militants or the movement of IPOBs. More than 300 civilians were killed in Aguta in Benue state, many people have also been killed in other states; Delta, Kogi and most recently they killed over 400 people in Enugu. No drastic measure has been taken only that the minister of information came out to tell Nigerian that the government is working silently to curb the menace.
I keep wondering what the basic responsibility of a government is if not to protect life. If this genocidal act continues and the law enforcement agencies pay deaf ear to the plight of the victim communities, peoples will lose faith in the government and look for ways to protect themselves.
Fulani herdsman move around with arms: riffles, AK 47, knives and so on unchecked. I wonder if they are above this law " illegal possession of arm"

In more civilized world, cattle are being rear in a cattle ranches. I wonder the type of country we are, where a senator in this modern time will propose a grazing out bill. Which state or community will give you their land to rear your cattle for free. The cattle are your source of income, you have to look for ways to rear it. You have to have plans to provide the feed for the cattle ( create ranches) instead of encroaching into other peoples' land and properties. No sane senator should support such an old testament bill.

I also wonder if the senators from these affected areas know their responsibilities to their people. It was ludicrous to me when the governor of Enugu state declared 3 days fasting after the massacre.

The president should wake to his responsibility instead of travelling around the world why Nigerian are murder every day by Fulani herdsman. He should set aside sentiment, and do the needful before things get out of hand.

HealthE-cigarattes Can Help Tobacco Smokers Quit by pepigeorge(op): 6:22pm On Apr 27, 2016
The health hazards associated with smoking tobacco cigarettes far outweigh its benefits. Many smokers have tried quiting smoking to no avail. E-Cigarette over the few years of its existence have help many tobacco smokers quit.

As of early 2014, there were 466 brands and 7,764 unique flavors of e-cigarette products.

From 2003-2014, the sale of e-cigarettes has grown exponentially year on year. This surge has prompted much debate and investigation.

Health concerns over carcinogens and worries that e-cigarettes offer a newer, softer route into the world of tobacco smoking have dominated popular news.

Despite the clear and unabashed prevalence of this new trend, data and analysis regarding its effectiveness as a smoking cessation aid is difficult to dissect.

Reliable information is hard to come by, partly because the habit of smoking is a fluid issue; some people smoke occasionally, some smoke both cigarettes and their electronic counterparts, others fluctuate between the two, and others might intermittently use other nicotine replacement aids, like patches or gum.

To further muddy the murky waters, some smokers quit tobacco but then take up e-cigarettes as a way to prevent relapse. And when has a quitter quit? After 3 clear months? Or maybe 12 months of abstinence? The variables to consider are bewildering.

The team from University College London (UCL) delved into questionnaire data taken during the stratospheric rise of e-cigarettes; they recently published their findings in the journal Addiction. According to author Prof. Robert West:

“E-cigarettes appear to be helping a significant number of smokers to stop who would not have done otherwise – not as many as some e-cigarette enthusiasts claim, but a substantial number nonetheless.”

The team found that 16,000-22,000 people in England (who would have otherwise continued smoking) stopped smoking courtesy of e-cigarettes. These results seem like positive findings, and to a certain extent, they are. However, they are substantially less than the numbers given by some e-cigarette supporters and manufacturers; plenty of questions remain.

Smoking statistics
Below is the rough train of thought that the UCL team used to arrive at the report’s findings:

In early 2014, 19.3% of people over 16 years of age in England smoked, equating to 8.46 million people
During 2014, 37.3% of the English smoking population attempted to quit at least once (3.16 million people)
Of those individuals who tried to quit, 28.2% or 891,000 people, used e-cigarettes rather than nicotine replacement aids, such as patches, or counseling
At the 1-year mark, success rates for quitting without any assistance, including nicotine replacement, is roughly 5%
Questionnaire data has shown that using an e-cigarette in a quit attempt increases the chances of success by around 50%, compared with no help or buying nicotine replacement items from a shop (in the UK, nicotine replacement therapies purchased from a shop have been found to have no increased success rate, unless they are accompanied by professional support)
It is therefore estimated that 2.5% of the smokers who used an e-cigarette in their quit attempt in England (22,000 individuals) succeeded who would have failed if they had used nothing or nicotine replacement from a shop.
The results seem to show that e-cigarettes, at least as far as quitting smoking conventional cigarettes is concerned, have had a positive impact on the problem. But there are still multiple unanswered questions to bat around.

Although the UCL team has access to reams of data, there will always be questions that cannot be answered without further, more pointed information mining. One question, raised by dissenters, is that of non-smokers being tempted into smoking tobacco by the lure of e-cigarettes. The UCL team rejects this:

“Regular use of e-cigarettes by never smokers is extremely rare, and the decline in smoking prevalence in young people has been as great or greater than in previous years.”

Other questions that the authors hope to answer in the future include the issue of whether using e-cigarettes while continuing to smoke might reduce the number of attempts at quitting further down the line.

Prof. West also asks whether smokers who quit using e-cigarettes might be more or less prone to relapses. These questions, and others like them, will take many years and great silos of data to illuminate.

PoliticsHow Nigeria Can Be An Industrialized Nation by pepigeorge(op): 2:15pm On Apr 26, 2016
The country Nigeria is blessed beyond measure by mother nature with abundant natural and mineral resources. One can’t but wonder why this so endowed nation is still poor: no good road, no light, no job, lack of standard infrastructure, unplanned dirty cities, insecurity, and so on.
But for this article, I will rest on one of the mineral resources “IRON ORE”. I am going elaborate on how this mineral resources affects the Nigerian economy.
Iron ore are available in commercial quantities in Itakpe, Ajaokuta, Jebba, lokoja. Ore from these areas are supposed to provide raw materials for the National Iron and steel Industry of Nigeria: DSC Aladja in Delta State and Ajaokuta steel mill in Kogi State but the state of these steel mills as it stands left nothing to be desire.
Extraction of iron from the iron ore involves some chemical reactions in a blast furnace.we get 3 types of iron:
1. Pig iron
2. Cast iron
3. Wrought iron
Wrought iron is the purest form of iron. I don’t want to bore you with the chemistry involve in obtaining these iron from the iron ore.
Steel is the backbone of any industrialized nations in the world today. It’s importance cannot be overemphasized and its uses are endless, from oil industries to construction, the list is never exhausted. What actually is this steel that its uses are so numerous that every country needs it for her industrialization.
Steel is just an alloy of iron and carbon, that iron that we have in abundance and a little proportion of carbon with accurate heat treatment. The word “carbon” should not intimidate you like its some scares commodity like fuel is to Nigeria. Your charcoal is a form of carbon.
The chemistry of adding carbon to iron with appropriate heat treatment (temperature) is simple but let’s not bother ourselves with that.
Steel : iron + carbon (0.1-1.5%)
Stainless steel : iron + carbon +chromium + nickel
Hopefully for Nigeria, we have iron ore, which iron is extracted from, we have carbon, chromium and nickel. Frustratingly, all the steel and iron related products are imported into the country either from china, indian, USA etc.
Iron rods for building and construction
Steel pipe for oil industries (drilling, casing and construction of pipelines)
Steel for railway construction etc.

Oil producing companies: Shell, Chevron,Total, ExxonMobil, Agip, name them, spend at least $50 million to drill a well, I stand to be corrected. More than 40% of the cost is on the “casing”. What actually is this casing “ordinary steel pipes”. Mind you the cost of drilling this well is charge back to NNPC. So if Nigeria drills 50 oil wells a year, do the math on how much we spend on importing ordinary steel pipes that we can actually produce. All these wells are channel to a flow station via oil pipelines.
Oil pipelines you hear about today in Nigeria were all import steel pipes- what a waste of forex. Imagine the pipelines that ran from Niger Delta to kaduna refinery, thousands of kilometres, the pipeline are all made of steel and they were all imported.

Dangote today is building a refinery and he is also going to run pipelines from Niger delta to Lagos. He needs federal government to assist him with forex, part which is to import steel and steel related products.
Before I drop my pen, imagine the oil installations we have in this country, from land locations, swamp and deep offshore, all the pipelines and steel related products are all imported. Let’s leave the oil industry, imagine the number of houses, hospitals, schools, bridges, roads that are built every year in Nigeria, most of the iron rods are imported. Do the mathematics, you will be amazed at how much we spend each year importing iron rods and steel into this country.

We cannot throw away the baby with the bath water,is never too late to start all over, if we can harness this abundant mineral resource “iron ore” that we have, imagine the job opportunities for our teaming youth, imagine steel depending industries that we spring up. Nigeria will not only be self sufficient in steel but export to other African countries. The dependence on oil for the country survival will reduce, cost of production per barrel will reduce drastically also. Our two steel mills should be revamp and upgraded to meet international standards. I could still remember some people left Shell to work for DSC aladja. I think if Nigeria could produce her own steel and steel related products, we will not be begging any country for bail out but will be marching to become an industrialized and developed nation.

RomanceWhat A Matured Man Should Know About A Woman's Talkactiveness by pepigeorge(op):
Most relationship and marriage failures have been attributed to adultery, cheating, lies, relationship brutality, lack of love, inability to satisfy a partner and so on. Most of these causes of relationship breakup are fruits of lack of understanding.
In the course of this article, am going to highlight on what a man ought to know about a woman's loquacious nature. Sometimes, you have heard women making this comment ” he is not mature”. They are actually not referring to age, rather they are saying he does not know what he ought to have known about a woman. When a woman says I want a matured man, her meaning is I want a man that understand the behavioral attitude and characteristics of a woman. No one will deny he has not heard this statement ” why are you talking like a woman”

Stress relief: Every animal has a way of relieving stress, human included: drinking, sleeping, watching films, listening to music etc. A woman’s best way of stress relief is talking. A woman offended by a colleague in the office or stress out by a boss in the office gets home stress out, gets home and wants to relief that stress. She meets her husband at home, she unconsciously starts to relax by talking , she may not need your contribution, she wants you to listen and just show her you are paying attention by either nodding your head or looking at her. She might talk for an hour, insulting the boss, the colleagues, elaborating the little issue in office. Sometimes, in her illustration, you might sense she was the one wrong and not the colleague or boss. Don’t ever tell her at that point of stress relieving process, that she is wrong. Allow her relief her stress and calm her down, later on tell her the best way she should have related with the colleague, she will listen to you because she is calm.If you tell her that she was wrong during that stress relieving process, there will be quarrel and argument.

Frustratingly, some men don’t know that the loquacious nature of a woman is an inherent characteristics of a woman to relief stress. Some men quickly shut the woman down when she start talking ” can’t you see am watching football” “you talk too much” “please allow me to rest” unknown to them, they are pushing the woman away. Since it’s a natural to relief stress the same way the human body shuts when pain is too much by fainting, she will look for someone that listen to her; Neighbors, female friends, hence you hear them gossiping and in some cases a male friend or an ex- that listens. There’s fire on the mountain, when she eventually gets that listening ear from another guy other than her spouse.

Many a time, you hear women say ” he does not listen to me”. When a woman has your ears, sooner or later she will give you her heart. So when your girlfriend comes to your house and start talking about a course stressing her or about her roommate, she just needs you to listen. If she had fight with her roommate or best friend, she comes to you as her boyfriend and start talking about the quarrel, don’t take side against her at that point even if she is wrong. If you do, the next time you come to her house, she will be observant of your behavior towards her roommate and not long before she accuse you of flirting with her roommate
What a mature guy would do is to listen till she pour out all her heart and relief all stress. Calm her down, tell her there’s nothing to be scared of, calmly advice and proffer reasonable solution. She will trust you and keep confiding in you. A woman that loves you, trust you and confide in you, will tell you even the secrets of her own family.
When a wife or girlfriend has the ear of another guy other than their partner, she starts trusting that guy. They make long calls when you are not around, they chat often. She starts lying to you. If you are not observant and quickly try to arrest the situation, she starts cheating on you, her love for you starts dwindling and finally, marital crises – Divorce
