Would my 5-years old who applied for a study permit needs a medical examination?
If yes, can I do upfront medical or I have to receive IRCC MEDICAL REQUEST FORM first? |

Hi Bobomaigida Thanks for taking your time to reply and express your concern. Sadly, my School(Lambton College) stated on their LOA that they don't create room for students to defer their admissions. I wrote to them last week and they replied saying they would keep the registration process open until Mid August but as a policy, they would not defer and that I should go read my LOA again. I just tire for the delay in decision making Bobomaigida: Hi Perfectyyyyyy
So sorry with the delay, first thing can't you defer the admission to another intake? If this is possible then do it to give more time, and put your mind on something else. You might also need to reword your email and make more emotional to see if that can do the trick.
Just don't be 100% focus on the application so you do not suffer a nervous breakdown.
All the best |

Good day all,
Please someone should tell me what next to do concerning my application. I submitted since 15th December and eligibility has not even started on my portal although medical and criminality-passed.
I have sent them several mails and webform until they replied and asked me to respectfully stop sending them mails. After weeks of receiving the threat mail from them, I resumed sending mail again to all their mails addresses in the world. Surprisingly I never got a reply from any of their offices again.
I have written to my MP three times. In her first and second reply within a space of three months, the MP stated that my medical and criminality passed and application is under review. But on her recent reply which came yesterday, she repeated that medical and criminality passed, however, eligibility has not yet started.
I also ordered and received two GCMS note. On both notes, eligibility section is blank and it is obvious that they have not even started working on file and/or that it has not been assigned to a VO.
What should I do next? School resumed 29th August and I’m supposed to registered online since 7th July.
I am so so confused and this is mentally draining. |

@ JustMellow,
I have my application submitted since 15th January and till date eligibility have not even started. I order for a GCMS note and it arrived today and was also blank. But mail sent to MP, webform raised and mails sent were acknowledged in the note, nothing was done thereafter. It is about 4months now and it is clear that my file has not been opened.
What should I do at this point to get them work on my file? Should I sent them updated bank statement i.e 8months since I submitted 4months in January? |

It is strange that you are boosting about your credential as criteria for approval. While we can’t rule out the important of the right credentials, I can tell you that in my cases it is a game a luck. I have a cousins who are identical twin and they were both applying to same university and used the same document. The only differences in their applying is the time of submitting, seconds difference and Name. Yet one got study permit approval and the other was denied on the ground of purpose of study. Let me add that they both did the same undergraduate course in the same university. Anyway i wish you luck next time. You could create history but I consider it as a wrong move to return to Nigeria after stepping foot in Canada. MsLoolah: Yes I figured no one has a definite response for me other than asking me to spend 2.7m on an education I wouldn’t be able to transfer or use in the future based on fear I might not get the visa. I didn’t get the first visa based on luck, I got it based on my credentials so honestly I don’t see a reason why I shouldn’t get it again.
I would definitely update on the decision I make and the outcome for people who are in my predicament in the future.
Thank you |

I am a silent reader here and I joined after I submitted my application, although I avoided this place for a while because of anxiety. After several emails, mp sent mails as well, I have started classes online for Fall 2021 at lambton college, currently doing the winter term, just last week Thursday I was asked to send my updated letter of acceptance but I sent enrollment letter instead , then I received PPR this afternoon. This is my timeline.
Submitted- May 11th 2021 Biometrics- May 24th 2021 Upfront medical - April 28th 2021 I don’t know when eligibility started. Updated letter of acceptance request - Feb 3rd 2022 Passport request- February 7th 2022 Yes 9months!
See ehn I was so scared, I trusted God but I’m human right? But God said his ways are not my ways. I submitted all the necessary documents even sent my fall transcript, please whatever you do just keep trusting God.
Please who’s going to Lambton College (Sarnia campus) or is already a student there? Hit me up. Thank you. I pray everyone excepting good news will receive it soon. Amen. |

This is a very tight call and bold decision. I just hope they reconsider your next application and grant you a study permit on the ground of good conduct or character. Honestly, you are the only person I have heard off that entered Canada and returned back to Nigeria to apply again for study permit after the first application was granted. Your best bet remains leaving your spouse behind. That amongst others could be one of the main reasons for your previous visa approval. Unless you have lots of established home ties, applying with your husband may weaken your application. MsLoolah: Good morning all,
Please I need the gurus in the house to help me out here.
My husband and I applied separately for a Canadian student Visa last year, he was refused in May, but I was approved in June.
We applied for the second time for his as he would like to further his education as well, he doesn’t have a BSC and would like to get one. We included everything possible, however this time instead of his brother sponsoring him, he is sponsoring himself, we included what he’s been doing since graduating secondary school and what he is doing now, with strong SOP but was refused again.
Now we have been advised to apply for a spousal open work permit (sowp), once I get my study permit and then he can come and join me. I also ordered for the gcms so we can see what we are missing.
I traveled to Canada in December to obtain a study permit, on getting there I found a school I prefer much more than the one I initially applied with, I applied for a 4 yr bsc even though I already have a masters, but it’s a different degree. Now I found a shorter version of the course which is 2 years diploma.
I applied to the school and I am awaiting decision, however the school resumes in sept 2022 which exceeds the 150 day out of school rule, so I can’t change my dli on the portal. Instead, I came back to Nigeria as I didn’t want to violate any rules while I await response for the school and re apply for a new study visa.
Now my question is, can I include my husband in this new application as accompanying and apply for a SOWP without it affecting my decision because I don’t want to do this without him, we have been married not even 2 years and I am dreading separating from him.
Also we have ordered the gcms notes and should get it before the new application, that way we can see the issue on his applications.
I have a good travel history and my bsc and msc is for a uk university, I also have an active 10 year Uk visa.
I just need to know if we should go ahead with our decision or any advice that can be rendered will be very much appreciated.
Thank you in advance |

@Teemenzo and @PatrickOkunima. Thanks to both of you for your explanation to offer the best and more accurate information. However, the back and front argument has made me confused the more. Now this is the profile. He is currently 19years old. Completed his WAEC around September last year but working as secretary in a computer center pending the success of his JAMB for Nigeria university admission. Because of Canada Universities cost for a 4 years degree program, i was thinking of seeking admission for him to do a 2 years diploma program in Canada by January 2023. This implies that he would be 23 years upon completion of the program. So my inquiring is if there is the possibility of him getting a PR after completion his study. Teemenzo: To perfectyyyy, let him or her get in and do the diploma. Apply for the 3 year PGWP and find job in a company that offers LMIA. With one year work experience, its a smooth sail. Because the true reality is, its difficult to get such a job quickly. |

You are right. This was my question. Davidganna10: you start losing points from 30years so 35 is not the required age bracket.
at the bolded the person you quoted made mention of "going for" and "staying back" I don't understand how that implies already has diploma and an applying for PR. You can read it again maybe you missed it. Have a nice day. |

Is there possibly of a 19years old who is going for a 2years diploma program to get PR after completion of the program or such individual must acquire most degree say minimum of B.Sc to stay back in Canada access PR? Osemigho: Most diploma graduates gets job quickly, but an undergraduate degree is better in the long run. You may be able to transfer your diploma result to an undergraduate program. To reduce expenses and quickly get a job, a diploma might be best option in the short term. You can go back for degree after you have some experience, save money, and probably become a PR. |

Congratulations buchito1: LONGGGGGG POST ALERT!!!
Guys I really do not know where to start from! I'm short of words. God's just too good to fail. I'm still in shock cause I can't really fathom why my application was this quick or why I was just favoured, but I give God all the glory! For he alone is to be praised!
I've been following this thread for about 4yrs now. Just observing with no plans to submit my application. Was just here for the information basically, and to read people's process (which I enjoyed doing) didn't even know I'd eventually apply. Time came for me to apply, I was scared to the Bone! I was scared to doing it myself! My sponsor (brother) literally begged me to look for an Agent to handle my application, I was skeptical at first, but I succumbed cause I didn't want any issue or stories that touch.
I contacted an agent on this platform, he charged me 150K for admission and 250K for Visa. My sponsor agreed to pay for the first stage (admission). Las las I eventually paid 190K for only admission!!! Only school admission ohhh!!!
Then it was time for Visa Application, and I was told Visa Fee has increased to 300K. And I was like hell No!!! I no go school? Am I daft? No! I can do this shi# myself. 300K no be 300 naira.
That's how it began, took a leap of faith and decided to do and handle my Visa Process myself, and God blessed me with the GOLDEN Mail (PPR)! Guys please do this stuff yourself! You can do it! Yes YOU! You can! There's nobody else that cares about your application than you! You don't need any agents NAIRALAND is the real deal! NAIRALAND taught me everything I know and used to get my Approval.
I'm a FIRST TIME APPLICANT, my timeline goes thus, I used the NEW PORTAL,

Lo and behold, today, Correspondence Letter and PPR letter - 27th January 2022 (Basically my application took 1 month and 28days)

In all, it's been God. God did it for me. And he'll do it for everyone here. Cause he knows why we're here and what we're looking for.
I'd also like to use this medium to appreciate Teemenzo and EyinjuGod. God bless you guys again for everything. You were with me from the start to the end. I'm rooting for you both. My prayers aren't complete yet, till y'all get your PPR's
I also want to appreciate Makano for the series of questions of mine he answered. God bless you boss. Ketima, thank you for always assisting and encouraging everyone. @Amon123. Would this 17 or 18years old be able to apply for a permanent Residency after completion of his or her college study or would be required to do a B.sc program to accumulate more points ? I am just wondering how he or she would pursue a permanent Residency with only the college degree. Anon123: If you are below the age of 18, you seen as a minor and therefore you are expected to include a consent form from a guardian resident in canada. if you are 18years and above, you can apply as an adult.
1) Yes 2) All schools, i know some one i assisted last year with his SOP. he is 17yrs, got into st clair college and visa was approved. |

Well written! This is the most beautiful reply I have see in recent times to this type of comparison question between both countries. Naijaforeigner: I lived in UK before moving over to Canada.
When it comes to the way of life, I prefer UK. The short distance by flight to Naija, the cheap Naija food, the fact that you feel like you are still close to home while living in the UK and so many other reasons will always make me prefer UK.
Personally, I think there is something missing in Canada when it comes to the social way of life. I have a good job, I am a PR but I still feel a void within me. I never felt this way while I was in the UK even on a temporary Visa. Maybe it is just me, maybe it is the whole covid situation and the whole lockdown Canada has subjected us to. I just feel something is missing. This does not mean I do not like Canada, I just feel there could be more. This is my personal opinion!
Please note: Your Canada experience could be completely different to mine.
When it comes to making money, professional career and advancement, I would say both countries offer similar opportunities. Maybe you can make more money in UK but the difference can’t be too much when compared to Canada.
I always tell prospective immigrants to consider 2 things first before moving to any country; Human rights and ease of becoming a PR in that country. In UK and Canada, your human rights are fully covered which leads to the next one, ease of becoming a PR.
I don’t think any country in the world right now comes close to Canada (except New Zealand) when it comes to how fast you can become a PR. Canada is “dashing” out PR at the moment and this won’t stop anytime soon. The downside is, Canada’s visa application/ process from Nigeria and even within Canada can be frustrating, challenging, time consuming and you will need all the patience in the world.
Finally, if you are looking for a way to get yourself and family out of Naija super fast, then UK is your go to country.
All the best and happy Sunday. |

If they have only 12minutes to make decision, how come do you see someone eligibility review going on for weeks? And sometimes they will and have not asked for any additional document. Legacyedition: This depend solely on VO.
They might also not update it.
Officer is mandated to spend maximum of 11-12 minutes to assess application eligibility ( in-canada application) . This might be same for other countries too.
Then, when it's complex or they can't make decision immediately, or there's need for documents confirmation/clarification, banks statement etc. They place it on recommend interview/ Review required.
The officer got 30-60 days to check back your file again.
If there's new documents request,
It will be uploaded on the VO action list. VO got 30-60 days to attend to it. It might be earlier though .
It is better to upload all documents request fast before VO leaves his current Chinook spreadsheet. |

Will you recommend advance diploma which is shorter and cheaper or it would be preferable for him to enroll in a undergraduate program?
