There are things u don't understand about addiction. Even some ppl who goes to church every now and then ar also guilty of dis act.

To get someone off such act u need to outline d consequences.

You need to give steps d addicted pple need to take n at d middle of it u may introduce God words.

No step can work for someone who is not ready to leave sin. One who is just tired of the guilt and lack of self control. Such person can only quit for a while and come back with Fuller force. To quit it, one needs a higher force.

Only the spirit of God does the job as you said. I was into it for close to twelve years (started around 15/16). I tried severally but to no avail. To tell you how bad it became, I can have sex with a gal just now and do it next minute while she's asleep.
Marriage does not stop it, it reduces it. Work or busy schedule does not stop it, it reduces it. It's only the spirit of God. One time last year, I prayed to God to give me the grace to surmount sin and bring me into life (not just because of masturbation but my yearning for his presence in my life). He did it, and now I live everyday in true reverence to God. It's not just about stopping masturbation but quitting sin and living by his grace.
NB: masturbation can generate crazy sexual fantasies like, homosexuality, bestiality, pedophilia, so be careful.

prayer probably may not, if the person is not in Christ. I was a chronic masturbator, but everything is gone since I gave my life fully to Christ. you can't stop masturbation when you are still into sin, when you still keep girl friend and have sex.
You won't understand this if you have not repented. Need I mention that I tried by my power severally but failed woefully.

Decency is the word. so far what you are putting on wont lead the next person into sin, you are good to go. Some skirts are far worse than nakkedness. But some trousers are just bad for a Christian. Is it decent? will distract the next person into conceiving amorous fantasies?

That is why people die early. They harbour unadulterated bitterness and resentment against each other. I usually tell myself, "if I was born in a core Muslim home, there would be a slim chance of me becoming a Christian, and same for a Muslim who would have been a staunch Christian if born in a Christian home". If we believe that it was by the grace of God/Allah that we were born Christian/Muslim, why don't we tolerate the other person who for no fault of his, was born where he was born. If he doesn't accept your position, then allow him to face whatever condemnation you feel will befall him. RELIGION IS NOT BY FORCE. Even if we're right, the way we exert it on others could make us wrong.

You didnt mention that avoiding doing good drifts one away from God. Do u remember what Christ said about helping someone in need? Do you know what James said about faith without good work... just like telling a hungry man "go and be filled" without giving him food. Plz stop trying to set me against God, it's ungodly. He removes them like old rag frm you putting a new cloth on you. if you soil the new cloth, he won't bring back the old one, instead, the new cloth remains soiled until he forgives again. He is not tired of forgiving us, but we should not see it as an excuse to sin, lest we live a hypocritical life worthy of condemnation.
Devil plays us trick at times by making appear as though our sin is too big to be forgiven or that our past sins are still counted against us. He weighs us down with guilt and shame.
That's the difference btwn Peter and Judas. Judas succumbed to his guilt and shame that (he thought he doesn't deserve life) and committed suicide. Peter realized his mistakes and repented. He FORGOT the past and pushed on with His grace helping him. Forgiveness is in two ways. If God forgives you, you ought to forgive yourself by leaving the old ways as though it belongs to ur past. Never allow your past to be ur stumbling block.

Nice post. The truth is that it is by His grace that we are put right with God and come into possession of eternal life that we hope for (Titus 3:7). However, it is wrong to posit that good deeds don't help. James 2:13 says that God will not show mercy when he judges the person who has not been merciful, but mercy triumphs over judgement. (Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy) It pays to show mercy (good deed).
How can one inherit heaven if he doesn't do good deeds... if he doesn't show love, forgive, defend the defenseless, say the truth to save a situation, preach the Gospel. With due respect sir, good deed is necessary but just doing good is not enough to save, and not doing good can equally deny someone salvation, though a sinner can be saved just like the theif by the side of Christ during crucifixion. Simple... do good, obey all God commands, pray for God's grace and have faith in Him.
If you say that good deeds are needless, you are saying that we don't have to obey God's teachings, instructions, directives and warnings, since most of them are injunctions to do good especially to our fellows.

All you mentioned are part of the bedrock of Christianity, viz; sacrifice, love, faith, forgiveness, humility. I don't wish he never said them... they are integral part of the new law/covenant which we all ought to be under. I am a child of the new covenant.

Eddyefe, I just had what I term "disjointed dream" which I believe conveys message(s). My dad recently and suddenly got struck by an ailment that affects his balance and walking ability. I prayed yesterday for his healing which I believe has taken place. so in my dream, I was clearing grass somewhere and he came to me in the company of another. I was very happy that he could walk (which I expressed to him). I later saw myself gathering snails from where they hid for the purpose of eating them. someone passed and crushed one, I was annoyed a bit but neglected him. later again, I saw myself planning to bath my one year old nephew, whom I started to look for. I was looking for him when I entered a neighbour's house and discovered that someone died there and has been buried like days ago. I saw someone that resembles my nephew but I knew within me that he wasn't the one (they brought out the boy that has my nephew's semblance to me). I later started looking for my second phone (that I recently lost and found). I thought of flashing/calling it when I woke.

I seek to thank bro Charles who opened this amazing thread and others who have so far contributed. God bless you all. I really learnt a lot from here, and this came when I needed it the most.
Late last year, by the strength of the Holy Spirit, I broke away from the shackles of evil spirit (s€x, mastu®bation) that lasted for close to a dozen years. Mine was chronic and tormenting. I tried fruitlessly and severally in the past to do away with it but it kept worsening, until I begged for God's grace. I was expecting to gain more strength to fight sin (I thought that was how grace works), instead, they were taken away like filthy old garment, replacing them with new garment/new life in Christ. So many things have naturally given way with no struggle. I just pray the spirit of God to keep me growing. So far, He has been guiding me through the elementries.
This thread has thought me a lot and has helped me in my new journey. I have some questions I would love to ask later. I need some spiritual guidance. For now, I just wanna tnk u all.

I worship in Catholic church, but I know these for sure.
1. We need not seek Mary's intercession . Anybody that doubts this should read Hebrews Chapter 9. Jesus by his death and the new covenant has bridged the gap btwn us and God. We need no intercession, we just ask directly. In fact, the spirit lives in us.
2. Use of images is just wrong entirely, irrespective of where it came into the church from. Those defending it with the fact that God commanded the moulding of serpent by Moses or the demand by God for the moulding of two winged creatures on the covenant box should know this; the serpent was destroyed by Hezekiah when he discovered that people hv started worshipping it instead (2king 18:4), and the winged creatures marking the presence of God is an integral part of the old covenant which has been replaced by the new covenant. Don't forget that God already has given the stern instruction that no one should sculpt for worship any image of his likeness or that of any heavenly being. I believe this was why He refused to show people his true image or manifest in just one particular way so that people won't mould his image and worship or worship the medium of his manifestation, like worshipping fire, water, large snakes flood etc.
3. We do not have to seek the help of angels, they are messengers. Remember how the angel that appeared to John rebuked him when he tried to worship him. Angels obey the instruction of the master who has given us the power to ask or make our request of him directly.
4. The concept of infallibility of Pope and canonization of saints are out of place. No human is worthy of the status. Even Peter received the holy spirit and yet erred when he played double standard as regards eating with the Gentiles. Devil also was once in heaven as an angel of God and by so was PERFECT let alone a human of flesh. It is not our position to declay people saints... it's not just for us to do so.
Finally, if you are a Catholic, don't get slighted when people criticise Catholic church. The truth is that they got a point, but salvation does not come from church, it's personal. Just know the truth and live by it. worship God in the spirit and truth. Most people that argue church neglect the most important. Pray the spirit of God to lead you through and reveal to you the secrets.

It's a form of fasting and restriction of enjoyment so as to be in the right mood and spirit of prayer and observance of Christ's sacrifice. I do my own kind of fasting.

I woke up having written nothing.

Plz what could be the meaning of this dream?

The ills in churches do not negate the existence of God. It's just devil's effort to deny people God's promise, starting from those who are close to being saved. Well, enjoy your life of emptiness. I pray the Holy spirit to occupy and erase your doubts.

Op, with my personal experience I'll tell you that your priorities are misplaced. Everything has its time, so allow time to do it's job. Your worst nightmare may begin when you will tell a gal that u will marry her just because u heard a voice, or u felt smth beyond physical. I dated my first babe for four years without sex. I felt something supernatural and beyond sexual during the four years. We nearly had a covenant, in fact we did, though inform of mutual promise.
Now, I still laugh at my naivety then. The truth is that we worry more about future neglecting the present. Try and get rid of all false emotional bonding that are eroding your rationality. If you love Smbdy, show her pure love while ur limits are maintained. When it's time, pray to God and he will direct you, don't preempt him. Warning! don't conclude that someone is your wife yet...remember, messages don't come only from God.
