Breaking: Governor Dave Umahi Narrowly Escapes Death As Gunmen Shoots Sporadically At Ebonyi Airport Site

Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi, narrowly escaped death on Tuesday when unknown gunmen stormed the proposed Ebonyi International Airport site after receiving information that he might be visiting to inspect the level of work there.

According to News Express, the gunmen raided the airport site around 3:30 p.m., but missed their target because the Governor did not turn up.

According to a high-ranking source at the Ebonyi State Government House, the heavily armed men arrived on seven motorcycles and two cars. “When they arrived at the site, they opened fire, but God protected the Commissioner for Infrastructure Development, Engr Fidelis Nweze, who dashed to a nearby bush for cover after seeing the motorcycles, leaving his SUV Jeep behind.

“After that, the gunmen broke into the Commissioner’s SUV and stole his laptop, architectural plan documents, and money,” the source said. “They fired on the air repeatedly and took over the site for a while while waiting for the governor to arrive.”

What IPOB military wing ESN are doing in the East didn't just emerge from the blues. Between 2016-2020 thousands of IPOB members were arrested, tortured and killed by the police and the military. Here are the major mass killings:

1. Aba National High School Massacre:

On 9th of February 2016, a combined team of the Nigerian Police and the military came in their numbers into the field of National High School Aba were IPOB Members were singing and praying some were holding Bibles and flags before the military opened fire on them. Over 50 died while dozens were injured. The video is on YouTube. When Buhari was being interviewed in AlJazera studios in Doha, he was asked by the presenter to watch the mass killings but he refused.

2. 30th May 2016 Anambra Massacre:

IPOB Members annually celebrate their fallen heroes and heroines every 30th May. On this Massacre, killings actually started on the night of 29th May when the military invaded a Catholic Church in Onitsha where IPOB Members are sleeping ahead the D-day and opened fire. The following day being the main day was a full scale bloodbath. Over 700 IPOB Members lost their lives or were missing till date. Amnesty International did a special report on this Massacre by Nigerian government forces.

3. 2017 Trump Rally In Port Harcourt:

On 20th January 2017, all IPOB Members in different cities headed to Port Harcourt to rally in support of ex US president Trump who was being sworn in that same day. At the middle of the rally Police and the military arrived and opened fire on peaceful civilians holding only flags. Over 80 were killed many got arrested.

4. Nnamdi Kanu's Umuahia Home Massacre:

While crowd of IPOB members were camping and are literally living there at NK family house. On September 14th 2017, hundreds of military men in tanks arrived Umuahia's home of Mazi Kanu and laid siege on the building. Over 45 IPOB members were killed in the attack.

5. 2020 Enugu IPOB Massacre:

Around August 2020, hundreds of IPOB were holding a zonal meeting somewhere around Emene in Enugu. When DSS and the Police invaded the meeting venue and starting shooting. About 31 IPOB Members were killed while dozens were arrested and tortured.

6. 2020 Obigbo Bloodbath:

It started from endsars before it degenerated into shutting down of an entire town with the help of Rivers State governor Wike. 24hrs curfew was placed on the town While soldiers were going door to door with the torture and killings targeting IPOB Members and Jewish adherents. Dozens of women were taken to the north and were raped on a daily basis. An estimated 500 IPOB Members were either killed or went missing.

There were other smaller senseless killings and arrest of IPOB but these were the major ones since 2016. So what is happening to the police and the military in the East are nemesis. They are paying for their past sins. In fact some of the people that survived their torture and killings are today in ESN.

Elon Musk has said his company would be shut down if its cars were used for the purposes of spying.

The Tesla chief executive was responding to news that China's military has banned Tesla cars from its facilities.

Speaking to a Chinese forum in a virtual discussion, Mr Musk said: "There's a very strong incentive for us to be very confidential with any information.

"If Tesla used cars to spy in China, or anywhere, we will get shut down."

According to a Reuters report on Friday, the Chinese military cited security concerns over cameras installed on Tesla's vehicles.


The cameras are used to assist drivers with parking and self-driving while some models also have cameras in the rear view mirror for driver safety.

Mr Musk has previously spoken about the value of the data Tesla vehicles can capture, saying it can be used to develop autonomous driving functions.
Reports said Chinese officials had found the cars could record visual images of their surrounds.

The military responded by telling Tesla owners to park their cars outside military property.

It came as diplomats from the US and China were criticising each other during a two-day meeting in Alaska, the first face-to-face talks between the two countries since Joe Biden took office in the US in January.

China is the world's biggest car market and an especially critical market for electric vehicles.

Tesla sold around 30% of its vehicles in China last year but is facing strong competition from domestic rivals.

Enugu govt commences first flyover bridge project located at Nike Lake/T-Junction

*Closes road, midnight of Monday, March 8

*Announces five designated route diversions

The administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, has formally announced commencement of the first ever flyover bridge project by the state government, located at the intractable Abakpa Nike/Nike Lake/T-Junction road, in Enugu East Local Government Area of the state, on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

Speaking when he inspected the project site’s readiness for work commencement, alongside the Commissioners for Works and Infrastructure and Housing, Engr. Greg Nnaji and Hon. Vitus Okechi respectively, the Commissioner for Information, Nnanyelugo Chidi Aroh, maintained that the government’s order announcing a shutdown of the road by midnight of Monday, March 8, stands. Aroh who revealed that he led a state government delegation to also inspect the construction yard of the company handling the flyover, IDC Construction Limited said that all was now set for the commencement of the project in earnest. He added that the contractor assured that he would deliver the project before the end of 2021.

The Information Commissioner said the flyover project, when completed, would ease traffic gridlock in the area.

Also speaking, the Works Commissioner, Nnaji, stated that the contractor had been fully mobilized and was ready for the take-off of the project, pointing out that five roads have been designated for public use as diversions.

Engr. Nnaji who said that the five designated roads are being announced on air, listed them to include, Abakpa Nike Last Bus Stop-Oda Ngene- Umuchigbo-Nike Harmony Estate Adoration Road Junction; Bishop Shanahan- Ugbene 11-Ugbo Ndafe-Ama Owelle- Alulu-EELG HQ-Nkwor Nike Junction, and Emene-Adoration Ministries Pilgrimage Center- Harmony Estate- Umuchigbo bye-pass.

Others are Abakpa Nike Road-Liberty Junction- Ogwuagor- Uzo Aku Layout- Umuchigbo Harmony Estate Adoration Pilgrimage Centre, and Nike Lake Road- Ugwueke Junction- Igwe Edward Nnaji Palace- Enugu East Development Center-Amangwu Umuenwene - Oda Ngene- Umuchigbo Harmony Estate Adoration Pilgrimage Centre.

Gov. Ugwuanyi had inspected the designated road diversions to ensure their accessibility and readiness prior to closure of the Nike Lake/T-Junction road for construction work.

Clarifying further, the Information Commissioner, Aroh, noted that the state government has erected road signs and massive billboards to redirect motorists and road users accordingly, in the affected areas.

“Part of our responsibility is to once more inform the people that we are shutting down this road by 12 midnight; we have created five diversions; the announcements have been there in the radio; at the point of each diversion, we have put road signs; we are not stopping at that, we are going to put bigger billboards; we are going to ensure that our people don’t suffer too much while this massive work is going on,” Aroh said.

According to the Works Commissioner, “our responsibility in the next 48 hours is to ensure that work starts in earnest. Three links to T-Junction would be closed by 12 midnight today; part of why we are here is to see the preparedness of the contractor. Over there, you can see the concrete blockages, by tomorrow the actual setting out will begin.

“The five designated lanes for diversion are on air, we will all make sure that this big project is realized; Enugu people are waiting, the word is waiting, it is a state-of-the-art bridge and we can’t wait any longer to have it.

“The state government has been very proactive in planning for this construction; mid last year, we commissioned the first by-pass, Nike Road by-pass, it is in anticipation that we will do this project. From just after Nike Road, you head to Umuchigbo, Harmony Estate layout, Adoration Pilgrimage Centre and Orie Emene, it is one of the major roads that will take traffic, especially articulated vehicles. We advise all articulated vehicles to take that route.

“Then, if you are coming from NOWAS, get to Zenith Bank, UBA, you go left, then at a Roundabout, you turn and hit Dental Technology, then you tee off to Bishop Shanahan, that is on the lext axis, you now meet Ugbene 2, Ugbo Ndafe, then to Local Government Headquarters.

“If you are also coming from the Timber, very close to where we are now, we have recently put some culverts to ensure that people pass, in anticipation that this project will go through; when you pass through that place, you go through Igwe Edward Nnaji Palace, you now come to the Development Centre, you take the Old Road, and still hit Umuchigbo.

“If you are coming from Abakpa Nike, Nike Grammar School, you cross the bridge, you come to St. Theresa, you tee off to the right, to Ogwuago, from Ogwuago you go down to Ugwuaku Layout, you are at the same Nike Lake Harmony bypass.

“The collector road, the main road that takes all the traffic, it was our proactiveness to make sure that the road was done; you can now see the relevance, the vision of the Enugu State Government in doing things in order. That road was given a priority and it is now living up to expectations.

“We are appealing to our people to be patient with us; they should put enough care while passing through these roads; it is going to take some time but it is worth it.”

On his part, the project manager of IDC, Mr. Youssef Zghaib said the company was ready to hit the ground running, assuring that, “we were awarded this project with the duration of one year, but we promise to do our best to deliver within less than one year for sure.

“We don’t want to reach the deadline; with the promise that the funds are available, for sure we will try to deliver before the end of 2021, we deliver projects on time; we have the machines; what you see here is a very small sample of what you will see in the next two weeks.”

In a remark, the Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area, Hon. Alex Ugwu commended Gov. Ugwuanyi for the landmark project, stressing: “Our able governor has done all the needful, the contractor will now go to the site, any structure he marks, we will inform the owner to remove it.”

I fear the integrity of this flyover will be poor like that of Aroma flyover and kwata flyover Awka that are cracking now, i saw them doing some patches on it. Why didn't he use Setraco or Arab contractors as usual. The contractors that built Umahi's flyovers wouldn't be bad. You mean Enugu state dosen't have a flyover, maybe they don't see the need because of low traffic.

This Airport will be viable and compete with the mainstream airports in Nigeria. We've to fight and bring China, Singapore and Vietnam's regional embassies to Awka to reduce the stress of travelling to Lagos and Abuja to do what we know how to do best. All the traders in Main man travels to this places for business activities. I don't know why our political elites are so scared to tell Abuja in their faces what we need and fight for it. That Airport has room for expansion, but obiano should not give us small counter airport because this is not the world-class 3D prototype he paraded to deliver. To me it looks small like a typical Nigeria type of shopping mall.
