Sir Dele Ige, the younger brother of the slain Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Chief Bola Ige, is dead. The Ibadan-based businessman reportedly slumped yesterday; all efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. When Sunday Vanguard called Muyiwa Ige, the son of the former minister, who is the Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning in Osun State, he confirmed his uncle’s death but added that he did not have the details. Muyiwa Ige said, “I can confirm that he is dead. But that is all that I can tell you for now. I heard that he slumped and died while trying to deliver a birthday speech. I am on my way to Ibadan. I can’t say much until I get to his residence.’’ When he was called about an hour later, he said, “But I can say that his death marked the end of a lineage of Ige family because he was the last man.” When asked further what could have killed Sir Ige, he added, “ I am just getting to Ibadan now from Osun State. All I was told was that he slumped at my cousin’s birthday, Akin Ige. He slumped when he stood up to speak. That is what I have for now. I will soon go to his residence and see things for myself”. Akin Ige was said to be celebrating his 60th birth anniversary in Ibadan when the incident happened. When he slumped, the late Ige, was said to have been rushed to an undisclosed hospital where he was confirmed dead. http://saharareporters.com/news-page/dele-bola-ige%E2%80%99s-brother-slumps-during-%E2%80%98birthday-ceremony%E2%80%99dies-vanguard-newspaper mah his gentle soul rest in peace. For those who think that Kaffy’s life is all about dance, well, this is course for them to have a rethink as the queen of dance plans to walk down the aisle with her lover and father of her baby, Joseph Ameh. Showtime gathered that the dance queen is presently excited and happy that she would soon dump her single mother status for a life contract as a married woman. Kaffy will tie the knot with her baby’s father, Joseph come June 2, at Bespoke Centre, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos. Her wedding is taking place exactly six months after she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy, Kamal. The traditional engagement ceremony is scheduled to hold early in the day of the wedding at the same venue. According to our findings, the wedding will be a strictly-by-invitation affair. But of course; some friends, family and extended family members, colleagues and clients of the entertainment industry are already penned down as guests. It would be recalled that dancer, Kaffy got pregnant sometime last year. Friends and fans had suspected she was expecting a child and the news spread like wild fire. But Kaffy denied it, claiming it was only rumour. But months later, she was delivered of a bouncing baby boy on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at County Hospital, Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/05/dance-queen-kaffy-set-to-wed/ http://www.GistNaija.com/2012/05/kaffyqueen-of-dance-set-to-marry-very.html |
IT was a show of shame Thursday night at Eleme roundabout in Port Harcourt when about six Police men pounced on one of their colleagues beating him to coma because he allegedly resisted their effort to extort money from a commercial bus driver. Eye witnesses gave the name of the Mobile Policeman who was beaten to coma as James Ameh and attached to Mopol 56. They said he was in a commercial bus when suddenly about six Policemen stopped the vehicle, ordering the driver to hand over the key to them. They said he had flouted traffic rule at about 7pm when he picked a passenger in the area. The driver who did not want to waste time allegedly alighted from his vehicle to negotiate with the Policemen who insisted he must part with five thousand naira. At this point, the Mobile Policeman, James Ameh who was reportedly on the front seat with the Bus driver had to come down to appeal to his colleagues to let the driver go for his sake. The Policemen were allegedly uncomfortable with his role in the whole drama. And one of them had to push him, telling him to get off their way. Before the Mobile Policeman could even regain balance, the six Policemen reportedly started raining slaps at him from all sides. In the heat of the ugly drama, the anti riot policeman allegedly slumped. The eyewitnesses said it took the intervention of sympathisers to move him from where he allegedly slumped. When contacted for comment on the alleged shameful conduct of some Policemen in his command, the state Police Commissioner, Mr Mohamed Indabawa said those allegedly involved were being investigated. He said the matter had been brought to his attention. “We know those said to be involved. And the whole issue is being investigated”, he said. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/05/six-policemen-beat-colleague-to-coma/ |
RIP prof. May God Almighty grant you perfect peace and your family the fortitude to bear such a collosal loss. Hmmm. |
Airtel has been rated as the mobile telecommunications operator with the best service quality in the country by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). The NCC, in its audit report for March and April, said Airtel recorded the best performance in call set-up success rate, drop call rate, call completion rate and traffic channel congestion. The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Airtel Nigeria, Rajan Swaroop, was elated at the commendation and said that the network was ready to improve on its performance. "We began the journey of building a network with the best quality of service about 18 months ago. I am glad today that our efforts have started yielding positive results," he said. "But this is just the beginning; we will not relent in actualising our vision of being the most loved brand in the daily lives of Nigerians. We will continue to delight telecom consumers with a robust network and innovative products and services." http://dailytimes.com.ng/article/ncc-declares-airtel-best-network My question here is this: Does this represent the opinion of the people, I mean Nigerians? |

I wish to state here that we are still building the Advisory Council as more hands will be invited to come on board and I believe in no time, members of COSON will be singing a new song". http://thenetng.com/2012/05/10/ebenezer-obey-named-chairman-of-coson-advisory-board-as-banky-w-ayuba-win-elections/ |
Ilaje44: Aregbe, o'bad! If the Federal Government should create a ministry of Northern Affairs, then I demand also that a ministry of Ilaje Affairs equally be created.i agree wit you ilaje44 |
i do not agree with aregbesola about creating ministry of northern affairs. if dat is done then ministry of western, eastern and southern affairs will soon emerge. Even ministry of north central or south eastern affairs will also emerge. Mennn this will eventually lead to division of Nigeria. This best way to address boko haram is job creation. |
feminine A: On point blue divayou are absolutely right. he is probably still very unhappy. |
appraoch him in a humble and loving manner not harsh way. If he shuts at you, leave and approach him again later. Let him see reason why and where he should start something or a business. If he continues the way you said he is, then I would personally suggest you use someone that he respect alot(eg your pastor, your in-laws etc) to talk to him. Though 6M is big but without any proper planning he will soon exhaust the money. Also, show him more love than before may be he is still devasted about losing his job. |
when was this announced? why the shut down? how long is it going to last? |
personally, i tink Glo deserves it. I mean look at Airtel, MTN and etisalat; these dayz their services are horrible. |
Nice post kadata. But let summarized all points below: 1) Decision: You MUST decide that you want 1st class. 2) Dedicaton and diligent: Work harder than rest of your colleagues. 3) Focus: do not be distracted by friends, events, etc 4)Interaction: Interact with other people who made first class or are in first class GP so that you can learn other secrets. 5) Prayers: Pray as if you have never read. always pray to God. For instance, if one of the lecturer(s) decide not to award anyone a first class, the no matter how you worked hard, they will never give you. So, what do you do? Pray, simple. |
NLC should intervene in this issue of the sacked doctors. Its unfair. Millions was spent in Tinubu's B-day but to pay the agreed small fee for important people like doctors is not possible.hmmmm |
After sacking the striking doctors, the Lagos state govenment did not waste time to issue quit notice to the already sacked doctors who are still leaving in the quartes. The Quit Notice was dated May 8, 2012 and it was issued by by the Secretary of the Staff Housing Board for the Head of Service, I.A Shoyemi. Each Quit Notice Reads, I quote," “Consequent upon your dismissal from the service of the Lagos State Government with effect from 4th May, 2012, and in accordance with the civil service rule, no officer shall continue to occupy the state government quarters after the date of his or her resignation/dismissal. I wish to request you to vacate the state government staff quarters. The notices also directed the doctors to submit the keys to their quarters to Mr Shoyemi to “forestall forceful eviction". http://www.gistnaija.com/2012/05/lagos-state-government-issues-quit.html |

According to a popular saying: when a man bites a dog, it is news, but what now happens when an able-bodied man bites a woman’s ear? This was exactly what happened at No. 94 Idikoyejo Street, Ijeshatedo, Lagos, on May 1, when what began as a verbal exchange between two women, Mary Eze and Tawa Nurudeen, who were neighbours, resulted into a physical bout which ended in an ugly manner when the latter’s brother, Idris Nurudeen, joined in the fight. By the time the dust settled, Mary Eze, a young mother, had lost one of her ears, allegedly bitten off, by the 21-year-old Nurudeen. The ugly incident was due to a little misunderstanding which came about when Mary Eze discovered that during the brief period she left the backyard, someone tampered with the clothes she was washing. The Igbo woman narrated the turn of events from her own perspective: “I was washing my clothes on Monday; at a point, I went into my room. By the time I came out again, I found that someone had tampered with my clothes. After I had shouted for a while, Tawa affirmed that she was the one that touched my clothes. I challenged her: why would she rummage through my clothes without my permission? We exchanged hot words for a while and I went angrily into my room. I was inside my room, when her brother, Nurudeen, suddenly came in, hit me in the face and bit me in the ear until a part of my ear was cut off.’’ Nurudeen in his account averred: “She and my sister were fighting. Then it was just verbal arguments. I went inside to call my mother to intervene. My mother came out and was talking with the woman. I didn’t know what came upon the woman; abruptly, she grabbed my mother’s neck, and my mother suffers from high-blood pressure. I asked her to leave my mother alone; instead she grabbed me in the crotch, and then bit me in the navel. That was all. I didn’t touch her. I didn’t know how her ear got cut.” The case, reported to the police, is already in court at Mushin Local Government Magistrate Court. During the first hearing the next day on May 2, the petitioner, Mary Eze appeared with a piece of her dismembered upper ear wrapped in black polythene nylon as evidence, while the injured ear was heavily bandaged. Before the case was adjourned till June 6, the magistrate asserted that the respondent could be bailed with the sum of N100, 000 among other conditions. Sunday Express will definitely keep you darling readers posted as the ugly real life drama unfolds. http://www.e-expressnigeria.com/news/2012/05/horror-man-bites-off-womans-ear-i-didnt-do-it-suspect |
Jonathan had not done much. Boko haram and fuel subsidy are his failures. But nairalanders all we can is pray and do our part. |
that is good thing. But Nigeria should learn to honour heroes while they are alive not when they are dead. We have many neglected heroes eg the man who designed Nigeria flag, Green /white/Green. |
this is stupdest thing i hav seen. Since he has apologised. You are forgiven. |
i really like goldie. The eye lashes makes her unique. |
The show, ‘Nokia don’t Break Da Beat” Rap competition has come and gone. But the fight between Rap star Mode 9(Chief judge) and Muna(host) is now the latest gist. Mode 9, together with co-judges, had picked T.K.O. as winner while Black Jeez is the first Runner Up. But Muna disagree with the decision of the judges. She replied to Mode 9 rudely before the huge Crowd below: ‘I’ve also been listening to Hip-Hop for a long time, I respect your decision but my opinion matters, please pass the mic men’, Muna rudely replied Modenine right in front of the mammoth crowd. As a presenter, she has no power over the judges decision. Muna is wrong. Well, That’s my opinion. http://www.gistnaija.com/2012/05/mode-9-vs-muna.html |
