The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has recovered a total of N216,402,565.05 (Two Hundred and Sixteen Million, Four Hundred and Two Thousand, Five Hundred Sixty Naira, Five Kobo) only from Swiss Golden Investment, an online investment that purportedly deals in buying and selling of Gold Bars.

The recovery was sequel to a petition the Commission received from thousands of complainants who alleged that they invested in Swiss Golden Investment which was advertised as an online investment that deals with buying and selling of Gold Bars.

The petitioner further alleged that after investing over a billion naira into the business, the company refused to pay them any dividend or pay them back their capital. Upon receipt of the petition, the Commission invited the petitioners and they volunteered statements.

Through intelligence, the Commission picked up one Maxim Lobaty, a Russian and two Nigerians: Austin Emenike and Dickson Nonso Onuchukwu in Lagos.

The trio were subsequently conveyed to the Kano operational zone of the EFCC for further investigation. Swiss Golden which is headquartered in Hong Kong was discovered through investigation to be a Ponzi scheme that was designed to defraud innocent victims of their hard earned money.

Oil prices hit new 2018 highs despite government data showing U.S. crude stockpiles rose unexpectedly, as the market continued to get support from concerns about escalating conflict between the United States and Russia in Syria.

Futures surpassed their previous 2018 highs following reports of possible rocket attacks on Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, the world's biggest oil exporter.

Brent crude prices were at $72.61 a barrel, up $1.57, or 2.2 percent from Tuesday's closing price, the highest level since Dec. 2, 2014, when it hit $73.03.

The Chief Executive Officer, MTN Group, Rob Shuter has said that the telecommunications firm expects the listing of its Nigerian unit on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) to be done by the end of 2018.

Shuter, according to Reuters, said “we are progressing very well with the Nigerian listing and if market conditions are appropriate, we will conclude that by the end of the year. He declined to provide more details on the process.

MTN agreed to the NSE initial public offering (IPO) as part of the settlement of a $1 billion fine imposed by local regulators in 2015. Africa’s biggest wireless operator by sales incurred the penalty after missing a deadline to disconnect unregistered subscribers amid a security crackdown in the West African country.

Nigeria is the largest of the company’s 22 markets across Africa and the Middle East. The South African telecommunications giant controls 36.4 per cent of the market and by so doing servicing 53.4 million users in the country.
MTN is planning to raise at least $500 million from the sale of shares, people familiar with the preparations for the listing said. The company could dispose of as much as 30 per cent of its Lagos-based unit, the people, who asked not to be identified as the details aren’t public, said in February.

Telecommunications company, MTN Group, and Pan-African banking conglomerate, Ecobank, have come together to provide mobile financial services across the various African countries where they currently operate.

While signing a Memorandum of Understanding to seal the partnership in Lagos on Tuesday, the companies said they would work together to deliver a distinct customer experience by allowing access to affordable financial services via MTN Mobile Money and Ecobank banking services.

Why call out @onegentleguy for giving his unbiased opinion on a stock. I think you need to apologize to him for this unnecessary attack on his person... You must be a rookie in this business for this kind of childish post if not you should know that stocks fluctuate and do not move in a staright line. The fact that DF is falling does not mean it can't and won't rise again. Besides, it is still a stock that holds a very promising future for the patient ones and if you don't have the patience because you have invested your house rent or whatever money in it, just sell it and move on...

This is a personal question with no wrong or right answer. As at today, it looks like this

35% are in stocks (NSE)

15% in foreign stocks

35% in Real Estate

10% in Cash (Mainly Forex)

5% in Money Market in various forms

I keep cash BUT mainly in forex because I have forex exposures and help to hedge against devaluation. Cash to me is king. I like being liquid

I don't do bonds. Nothing against it though.
You don't mean it

I doubt that the people doing 'pumping and dumping' are here. People just get caught up in a web that they themselves are not aware off!

Look at it this way, how many people understand the business that Japaul is in to? How much is the total capitalisation of JaPaul that Milost will use $250m to acquire 'Part' of the equity? Can you even trust JaPaul to do anything meaningful with any money given to it? What happened to the IPO money? So what is the expectation when one buys JaPaul? When the stock was gaining everyday, what was driving it?

During the bulls, everyone becomes an expert! The bears undresses everyone! You saw people's response to Obabolujo (sp) programme? How many people he encouraged to use short term funds (loans) to invest in the capital market? I am waiting for the IPO's to start again. MTN will come out soon? Watch at the fantastic numbers they will present. No one will mention that ARPU is reducing year on year!

People just need to be disciplined with their money. NOTHING wrong with gambling once you know for sure that you are gambling. People travel all the way to Macau to gamble paying for flight ticket and accommodation anyway!

Anyone that tells you he can determine the highs and lows should also supply you the lottery number!
Macau reminds me of the good old days. Macau the Las Vegas of Asian continent

Then at their airport it's either you settle their immigration with $100 and get your passport stamped with entry permit or their refuse you entry outrightly.

That brought about the slogan "No Money No Macau" smiley
