The USA can work with Fashola (as VP) as he has proven to be a capitalist in Lagos State. |
Ola one: Trust me, you understand politics.Thank you. I created a thread for it: https://www.nairaland.com/1318665/candid-views-2015-presidential-elections |
My own view: If GEJ secures the 2015 PDP ticket he will likely use the USA and money to appease Tinubu discreetly. The US (the real capitalists cannot work with Buhari) can easily tell Tinubu to stand down (secretly) because they can easily pull the plug off him. The majority of the North central (NC)/middle belt will likely vote GEJ rather than a core Hausa/fulani from the NW or NE especially as a result of the constant fulani herdsmen clashes with farmers and other Northern minorities. The SS and SE will obviously get a GEJ block vote despite Rochas and the Amaechi saga. GEJ will also get substantial votes from Southern Kaduna (NW), Adamawa (NE) and a few votes from minorities in other NW and NE states. But these will come only after a lot of money (maybe half of 2015 budget) have changed hands. Time will tell. But this position can only be tackled effectively if the NW and NE supports a popular candidate from the middle belt as President and also a popular candidate from the SW (perhaps Fashola as VP). But will they? and/or get the neceassary support from the USA. PS: I am non-partisan and anything can still happen in politics. Kindly express your own views without insults. Thank you. |

Some truths/facts about this piece: The reasons for Jonathan’s anticipated victory are legion. Unlike the last time, he has since settled down comfortably in power. You must remember that he has spent a total of three years as a full-time President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. In those years, he’s had the rare opportunity of approving so many appointments and distributing stupendous largesse through award of contracts at home and abroad. Those who have benefited from him would be ready to die, if necessary, to protect their privileges and not necessarily the President. Moreover, Jonathan will win today because the opposition is yet to organise itself properly. There is no third road in sight. And no third party has the humongous resources to challenge the ruling party in Nigeria today. The Grumblers Party is the only workable alternative to PDP In Nigerian politics, money is the biggest factor before ethnicity and religion. If I were Jonathan, I would hinge my campaign on performance rather than drums of hostilities. I will quickly bury the hatchet and settle with Amaechi and others, like President Obasanjo did with Atiku Abubakar, James Ibori and company, before he pummelled them later. In any event, the best package would be for the opposition to form a very formidable second force to PDP and they must do this by speedily coming up with a shadow cabinet type of arrangement comprising of a star-studded team.My own view: If GEJ secures the 2015 PDP ticket he will likely use the USA and money to appease Tinubu discreetly. The ill fated DANA airline crash could have been avoided if the airline operators and regulators have simply observed all procedures. Perhaps if that plane had some VIP (Governors, Senators, etc) on board, GEJ would have been accused of silencing the opposition. |
The heli was registered under a commercial operating licence. The manifest is meant to ascertain the number and names of individuals on board in event of an accident so as to assist in search and rescue operations and also to pay compensation for both medical treatment or death insurance. The helicopter was on lease and is not owned by the Edo State Govt or Oshiomole himself. Rather than secure another alternative the ediot is claiming government interference.
Their mentality is really worrisome. Same attitude they (most governors, senators, etc) have on the road. Chasing motorists off the road like gangsters. |
Let them (politicians) continue to violate aviation rules in Nigeria and when there is an air mishap, they will blame GEJ for their recklessness towards zero tolerance for air safety. I wish them all the best. |

Politics or not, why do politicians and non-politicians like circumventing the laws/procedures and then complain of witch-hunting. A few years ago, my friend was fined by the FRSC for not putting on his seat belt. Guess what? My friend had the effrontery to accuse the FRSC officials for being selective as he saw some other motorists without their seat belt. If a PDP member get fined by LASMA for violating the Lagos state traffic rules, will he also accuse the ACN of witch-hunting. What if same happens to an ACN politician in a PDP governed State. They all travel to developed countries and observe their laws or get fined appropriately. Then they come back to Nigeria and start acting as gangsters. |
But to the chagrin of the Governor and the pilot, they were delayed for over one hour thirty minutes even after the pilot paid the landing and aerodrome feesA good punishment for violating procedures. |
The Governor prevailed on me to come back and answer themReally? From an experienced pilot!!!! No wonder we have unnecessary plane crashes in Nigeria. Could this same pilot disregard aviation rules in another country. |
When newsmen met with the pilot, Captain Manahash, he expressed shocked over the incident, asserting that “I have been a pilot for 35 years out of which 7 years in Nigeria. So I was surprised when I was recalled back to the airport after we took off. The Governor prevailed on me to come back and answer them. When we got back I was told to pay landing and aerodrome fee which ordinarily we could pay later.Doing the wrong thing for the past 7 years in Nigeria does not make it right. Is this global best practice? |
“At 10.18 am, the helicopter landed at the (Benin) airport and the pilot went straight to the Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) without manifest, as he claimed he didn’t know the names of those on board.”If the statement above is true then the Governor should simply keep quiet. |

TechyGuy: See some data below as at Q1 of 2013 from NCC's official stats. With these figures (stats from NCC) it shows MTN having a subscribers base (45%) bigger than the combination of the next two (Glo 21% & Airtel 21%) GSM companies. MTN really profited from their heavy investment in telecom infrastructure (wide national range/coverage) while Airtel (former Econet) were having various boardroom squabbles and insufficient funding. Glo came in late into the market while Etisalat came in much later. |
I was very pleased and happy when Saka said the MTN deal had finally chased poverty out of his life. Kudos to MTN for this. I also remember MTN taking over the entire rights of the TV programme, "Who wants to be a millionaire" from Celtel / V-Mobile (former Econet) and UBA, the major sponsors at the time. They (MTN) saw the potential and went for the kill. MTN seem to have a very sound management, hence their success in Nigeria. |
Dangote Cement Plc, which accounts for 28 per cent of the NSE capitalisation, was a major driver of the growth that pushed the market to its pre-meltdown level. For a single company to control 28% of the market shows that our stock market is still not robust enough. He (Dangote Group) actually controls about 40% (market capitalisation) of the NSE if you add his other listed companies. However I am not surprised. He is worth $20B or N3.2 trillion and our stock market is worth N12.6 trillion. |
Perhaps she should have said same when she was in Obj's government. They all seem to suddenly get a clearer (better) picture when they find themselves outside government thinking others cannot do a better job than themselves when they were in government. I admired her when she was in Obj's government but it is rather unbecoming of these same people who should know better (having been in government) to be playing the ostrich. The monster (challenges) of unemployment, infrastructural deficit, terrorism, etc where largely created by the past leaders who never thought beyond their noses. I hope GEJ learns from the mistakes of past leaders. Why would terrorism not have a fertile ground up north when their so called leaders encourage a beggarly and almajari system amongst the poor while they send their children to world class schools overseas. Why would the Niger delta not have MEND and other militant groups when their environment is constantly been polluted without effective remediation and adequate compensation. I hope they (multinational oil companies) thoroughly clean up their environment before the world stops depending on crude oil. The stone age did not end because of the lack of stones.... GEJ is certainly not going to solve all of Nigeria's problems but if the various state governors can at least perform up to 50% in their states then Nigeria's unending (vicious circle) problems of growth without development will be greatly reduced. |
fados4sure: I don't know exactly but I deposit 2.6million in my savings account with Union bank and they pay me approximately #6000 per monthYou are simply getting approximately 3% per annun on your savings account. When you consider the current inflation rate at about 9.5%, you have a negative return of about 6.5% per annun. Meaning a loss (net) of value of about N14,000 per month on your N2.6M. Put this fund/amount in a fixed deposit account or get treasury bills for higher returns of about 12% per annun. Though marginal, it is better (above the inflation rate), also liquid (though not liquid as a savings account) and offers the same security (safety) of your funds. Just ask your bankers/account officer. |
CBN: “Our attention has been drawn to the libelous story posted on your website on 2nd June, 2013, on the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and which has now been circulated by other online websites and blogging groups. “The post was full of fabrication and inaccuracies. Ordinarily this would have been best ignored. We are however constrained to write to you on account of the severe implications of the allegations for the integrity of the CBN, as an institution. They (CBN/SLS) should simply sue PT for libel. But your guess is as good as mine or are they waiting for video or pictures of the amorous affair to go viral before they act. A stitch in time saves nine. Blackmailers with hardcore evidence cannot be easily bullied. Even Bill Clinton lied under oath concerning his affair with Monica Lewinsky. Former IMF chief denied the sex scandal that cost him his job and a possible French presidential ticket. |
PapaBrowne: ^^^^^You are very correct. These facts speaks and Mr Dangote is using his financial and political connections to tap into these resources. By the time his refinery comes on stream then the importation of petroleum products will end. |
Once we get the politics (and policies) right then our development as a nation will be unstoppable but for now some foreign investors will put a hold on their proposed investments in Nigeria until after the 2015 elections while some may tactically (or temporarily) withdraw their FDI around the end of 2014/ early 2015. The stock market may experience some glitches around this period. |
Imagine the untapped wealth in Northern Nigeria. If only their leaders can dislodge or re-educate the religious fundamentalists, ban the almajari system, increase religious tolerance, formalise mining activities, etc then they might even give the Niger Delta a run for their money (or resources). A great nation we have but the politicians keep messing it up. Hmmmmm!!! |
The challenges of inadequate infrastructure, unemployment, unplanned population growth, etc are the same opportunities for economic growth and development. Opportunities will continue to abound for both Nigerians and willing foreign investors as the country continues to economically and financially integrate with the rest of the world. We are part of the Next Eleven (N-11) as identified by Goldman Sachs in 2005. |
clintwine:I used to think the British were gullible, but it seems Nigerians are beginning to tow the same line Can't we look at a story , analyse it, pick out the holes and decide if it is true or not? The items I have highlighted above, makes this so glaring that this is a script and a fiction brought about by the imagination of a writer Any one that has read British newspapers/tabloids, will know that this write up is patterned exactly as how they write to sell their stories ********************************************************************************************************************************************************* (Quote) (Report) (Like) ^^^^ Nigerians Gullible? Really!!!! I guess SLS is the gullible fellow here. If you are a high ranking executive/politician in today's world and you do not have an anti-bugging device, then you will easily be spied on with off the shelf bugging devices. But you would not need one if you don't have any skeleton in your cupboard. I really pity him because "they" (whoever they are) would have sent him video clips (or compromising pictures) as evidence. It's called blackmail. It is a honeypot or honey trap. |
Is the money a soft loan, from family/friends, or fully yours? = From Family Treat this money/fund as if you obtained it from a bank at 20% per annun (flat rate). It will give you a better mental disposition on how to optimally use it. Open a dedicated/separate savings account and use it as a repayment account even though you are not truly repaying. It will give you a sense of purpose. What are you presently doing? Self employed, employed or unemployed? = Unemployed You have the time. Be personally involved in the business. Do you have any skill? I guess we all do. = Computer Software or hardware skills? make use of any of these skills to your advantage. Do you reside in an urban, semi-urban or rural area?= Urban Area Be ready to face stiff competition in the city. You must be innovative. I would have suggested vegetable farming if you were residing in a rural area where you can easily get cheap arable land. Have you invested or done any business before?= Operate a business Centre Consider opening a business centre / computer training centre with N1M or less. Just get a good location and start small. Desk top computers are now cheap. You already have the needed experience. As you run this business centre/ computer training centre other ideas will come later. Are you single or married? = Married More income required but less travel. You need a business that will involve less traveling. |
WESTERNCR: @peterwins; thanks alot. yes i know doing the uk biz will not fetch me the weekly or daily income but i just need a biz to do that i'll not regret at the end of the day because this money is given to me by an uncle who would NOT tolerate failure. I also have the opportunity of raising a loan of N500K to the money. expecting from you.Indeed, there is no room for failure. Sometimes succeeding in business or investments have an element of timing. Planning is also necessary. But please do not rush into any business/investment you are not personally comfortable with. |
WESTERNCR: was thinking may be i should just take the money and travel to the UK since I have the opportunity to travel to UK and has been to the UK previously to buy auto spare parts, load them in a bus or truck and ship them to Nigeria for potential buyersWhy not? As long as you are comfortable with the business. However traveling to the UK for this business will not achieve your "....daily or weekly income...." as stated. Remember to split this N1.5M. I will respond shortly based on the answers you provided to my questions. Cheers!!! |
TechyGuy: For those of you who think PT don't have proof, wait and see.Hmmmm!!! A replay of Otedola vs Farouk in another dimension. Various video and audio spy (bugging) devices abound. There was a movie (based on a true life story) of how a stage managed bank robbery (planned by the MI5/MI6) went out of hand just to secure the original sex tape of an important member of parliament that was kept in a safe deposit box in the bank by the blackmailers. It is very easy to blackmail womanisers even with hardcore video evidence these days of hi-tech surveillance. I hope this is not true or else he (SLS) might be blackmailed to secretly pay a huge sum for any video evidence against him. |
