justmenoni: Omo see advice, you don't even know Op that much and you have concluded that he should build a house, this kind of advice has led alot of people into further debts.
Let's assume Op is currently residing in a room apartment somewhere in mushin and he works on the island, considering that a room apartment might not be more than 5000 a month, that means op is left with 65,000..then consider other expenses, transportation, bills, misc etc how will it be possible for the op to build that house you have just suggested?
If he's going to build a house, putting into consideration the high price of lands and building materials then it means op will have to save alot, and I'm optimistic that with such salary op might need to spend much more to get to work, maybe he'll end up getting to work late and you know what that'll result in..
Anyway, back to the question..Op I'm not an economist ooo but I'll advise you to first manage or stay a bit where you currently stay and then save up in a year, let's say you manage to save up to 30k a month, that's 360 in a year, then after one year you can rent a mini flat(one room, one living room, one toilet, and kitchen), then get married( doesn't have to be extravagant, just go to the registry blah blah blah).. try to use the remaing money to furnish your place a little bit( you can furnish further later on) but keep small change for foodstuff and transportation, then save 30k again for another 6 months( that should give you 180k, use this to establish your wife, small shop and stock it up a bit, at least to start from somewhere).. use the remaining 6 months to save 30k again and use that to pay your house rent( this way you'll be in the good books of your landlord,)... next year try to save for 6 first 6 months and use part of it to support your wife's business and keep the rest just incase a child come's in between, use the remaining 6 months to save and pay your rent...
Op, I'm not advocating that you shouldn't build a house, but to me, that's not and shouldn't be your top priority for now and shouldn't even be for the next couple of years,. I must confess that you've killed it all. This ur advise iz not for the OP alone but for everyone on this thread. God bless you richly |

It's so painful and disheartening for a young and vibrant cadet to die in such manner. But get it straight that nothing can be done again. He's gone and gone forever and U talking about post mortem examination is just bringing in a self philosophy that make no sense. Because b4 anyone is being admitted into the armed forces, there's a 'parent consent form' the father/guardian will sign which automatically have it that, the army will not be held liable for any injury, death or any misfortune during the periods of training. So immediately the guy was admitted into the academy, he becomes the property of the armed forces and if Nigeria at large. May his soul rest in peace |
Politics › Re: Buhari To Launch ‘change Begins With Me’ Campaign On Thursday-the Vanguard by petomas(m): 7:44am On Sep 07, 2016 |
HungerBAD: Abuja –
In a bid to entrench the values of accountability, integrity and inculcate positive attitudinal change in Nigerians, the Federal Government is set to launch the “Change Begins With Me’’ campaign. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and the Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Garba Abari, made this known in Abuja.
They said that the campaign was aimed at educating and enlightening Nigerians to appreciate these values which, they noted, are critical to achieving comprehensive national development. According to them, the campaign is expected to trigger positive change that will boost Nigeria’s image, enable the country gain acceptability and command respect in the comity of nations.
The minister said that President Muhammadu Buhari would launch the programme on Thursday in Abuja. “About three to five years back now, the role models in the society were people of doubtful character. “Money was worshipped; nobody cared where and how one got the money; these are the misplaced values that we are tackling now.’’
He said that the campaign would involve every Nigerian and address the shortcomings of every profession and jobs. Mohammed said that the campaign would also feature slogans that could be easily assimilated by the people, in order to correct identified ills in the society.
We believe that what is wrong with Nigeria is not limited to the elite, the political class and the civil service; if we want that change, therefore, it must address all the issues and target every strata of the society.’’ Mohammed said that the campaign was not a replication of the “War Against Indiscipline’’ which the Buhari-led military administration initiated in 1983 but that it would achieve the same goal using a different means. “In 1983, they used what they had to achieve what they wanted, which was to correct the decadence in society, tackle corruption and impunity.
However, in the area of enforcement, people alleged infractions and intimidation. But here, we are going to use the media to appeal to people. We are going to use persuasion, instead of coercion and intimidation. Our various platforms will be radio, television, print media, bill boards, social media and the like. “Part of our campaign will also be concerts which will be sponsored by people in the private sector.’’ The minister, therefore, solicited the support of the private sector towards the success of the campaign.
Mohammed said that the National Orientation Agency (NOA) would be the flagship body driving the campaign, to ensure that it gets to the grassroots. He further said that NOA had the duty to its success in states local government areas and schools, while traditional rulers and leaders of faith organisations were also expected participated actively in driving the campaign.
In a separate interview, the NOA director-general noted that the programme was also aimed at fighting corruption and encouraging peaceful co-existence in the country. He said it was regrettable that corruption had done a lot of damage to every sphere of the country. “The Fight against corruption must not begin with the government; people must be in the vanguard of fighting corruption.
Our schools, roads, hospitals should have been better than what they are now, but corruption has stalled their development. “What would you say about a woman who uses chemical to forcefully ripen banana and sell it to the public; what about a woman who would use a padded `mudu’ to sell rice. “A petrol attendant who would claim not to have change so that the buyer would leave the change; all these are corruption,’’ Abari said.
He noted that lecturers in tertiary institutions also engaged in corrupt practices by selling handouts to students, while lazy students also cut corners by selling their bodies and giving money to pass examinations. According to him, the change must start at the individual level and inevitably extend to the society and country at large.
Nobody is happy with the way corruption has relegated the country to its present situation. “We, the citizens, must take a second hard look at what we did wrong that we will not do tomorrow. “The change must start with the people in the little things they do in their families, place of work and responsibilities,’’ Abari said.

Business › Re: Here Are Top 13 Good Business Ideas To Start In A Recession by petomas(m): 4:58pm On Sep 05, 2016 |
delivite: A few days ago, the IMF confirmed what everyone had feared for a long time now – Nigeria has officially slipped into recession. There is widespread anger, despair, confusion and frustration. We see massive loss of jobs, companies are shutting down and aspiring entrepreneurs put their business ideas on hold to see how things turn out.
I'm a wealth evangelist. I don’t know what the government should or should not do to get the country out of recession and frankly, I don’t think it’s my job. What I do know is: in the face of economic adversity, there are endless opportunities for the smart entrepreneur to make money. The purpose of this article is to bring those opportunities to your attention.
THE ONLY WAY TO SURVIVE IN A RECESSION IS TO MAKE MORE MONEY!
1. FOOD BUSINESS Food business, in any capacity, is evergreen. People must eat. There are some ways you can get involved in the food business. You can set up a small restaurant. If you focus of quality and best service, you will never run out of business. You can also start an outdoor catering service for weddings, events and whatnot. Here is a first-hand account on how to start a small catering business. If cooking is not your thing, you can start foodstuff business as a wholesaler or retailer. You can also export foodstuff to other parts of the world. No matter how you decide to start, food is a necessity and that is why it is at the top of the list.
2. TRANSPORTATION Transportation is another sector that booms in a recession. With increased fuel prices, massive loss of jobs and high inflation rates, some people would prefer public transport over driving their own cars. You can tap into this opportunity and drive your way out of recession. I know a lot of bankers who lost their jobs and started a taxi service business out of their savings. They earn more now than they did at the bank. Companies like Uber are changing the way people think about taxi service business. If you cannot afford a vehicle, you can enter into a hire-purchase deal with someone who can afford it. With determination and focus you make progress and get a vehicle of your own.
3. TECHNOLOGY BASED SERVICES Following Mark Zuckerberg’s visit to Lagos, the Nigerian tech industry has come under the spotlight after the Facebook founder’s interest in companies like Andela and CCHub. The future is tech! People need more creative and automated ways of getting things done. You don’t have to be a tech geek to tap into this industry growth. You can take part as an angel investor and partner with tech founders who are in need of capital investment. Vc4a.com offers you such opportunities to locate and invest in emerging tech startups.
4. INFORMATION MARKETING Information is the most expensive commodity in the world. Recession is usually a time of confusion. Prices are skyrocketing, jobs are being lost and a lot of people are wondering: what do we do next? How do I get another job? How do I get more money to make ends meet? How do I stay ahead of the competition in business? If you have valuable information that answers any of the questions above, you are in business. How to go about it? Start a blog, organize seminars, package your information product (e-book, videos, podcasts, and webinars, etc) and people will pay you to get them. In a later article, I will show you everything you need to start your own information marketing business.
5. FREELANCING Freelancers never go out of business. There are lots bloggers who have no time to write, companies who need better copywriters, startups who need graphics designers, etc. Whatever you are good at, there are people who are willing to pay you for it. Nigerians make money on sites like Fiverr and Upwork. Fiverr is a great platform for freelancers to make money and has become rather very competitive lately because more people are getting into the system. People who have been there for long usually provide training for starters, helping them stay ahead of the competition and make more money. Emmanuel Riches (+234 803 385 5240) is one of such people. If you need training on getting started with Fiverr, get in touch with him. SourceGig is a freelance sites for Nigerians. It’s not as busy as Fiverr which is also a good thing. You can sign-up with them and get early bird’s advantage.
6. FMCG MANUFACTURING Fast Moving Consumers Goods (FMCG) are products people use daily like Soaps, tissue paper, toothpicks, matches, etc. If you can find what people need, especially items they used to import, and offer same quality and standard in Nigeria, you are in business. Nigerians are learning to buy Naija to grow the Naira. Dangote, the richest man in Africa, realized the huge potentials in this lucrative sector and has largely dominated the FMCG market. Fortunately you don’t have to be a Dangote to start FMCG production. This entrepreneur started his tissue manufacturing company 5 years ago from almost nothing.
7. FINANCIAL ADVISORY If you are a financial expert, you can advise people on how to make wise investments. A banker who just lost his job would be faced with the question of what to do next. So would an importer who just lost business because of the embarrassing forex situation. You can start a small consulting firm to fill this need. You can also set up yourself as an expert in this field by starting a blog that educates people on what to do with their money. Starting a blog is easier than you may think. You can contact me and we will get started creating your own money-making blog in no time.
8. EXPORTATION You can export commodities to other countries and make money. To export or not to export is no longer the question. The question is how to export. There are lots of materials available on how to start your own exportation business. Over time, we will make those information available here.
9. AGRICULTURE I am a strong advocate of agriculture as a tool for economic diversification and prosperity. There is something in agriculture for everyone no matter the budget or ability. To get you started, I put together a list of 50 agricultural business ideas for entrepreneurs. There’s bound to be something in there that will make you rich.
10. REAL ESTATE Importers who cannot import anymore because of the FOREX instability usually take their money and invest in real estate. Your part could be to advise them on where to get the best deals and where to get available property for purchase.
11. FUNERAL SERVICES This is one of the most underutilized business sectors in Nigeria. Probably has to do with the fact that they deal mostly with dead people. But for those who are able to get around it, funeral services is really a lucrative source of income no matter the economic weather.
12. SPORTS BETTING I don’t advocate gambling as a business model. But having a shop where gamblers gamble is one of the most lucrative businesses yet because people turn to betting as a means of raising easy money. You can start as an agent with a sports betting agency and work your way up from there.
13. ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS Entertainment is another sector that sees progression in a recession. You don’t have to be a comedian or an artiste to get involved. You can organize an event that pulls artistes and comedians. People will pay you just to make them laugh and have a good time.

HAPPY 3RD ANNIVESARY TO ALL THE GALLANT 70RRI A.K.A THE KILLER MACHINES. It was on this same 3rd day of August 2013 that we all started this journey and assignment of selfless service to our fatherland. The memory is still very fresh in our hearts as though it was just yesterday. God brought us from different parts of the country to be united as one big family, irrespective of our tribes, ethnicity and religion. Out of the many thousand of us that successfully endured and survived the training, just as we were told on the day of our POP that we can never gather in our place with complete number on a parade again till eternity; As we were scattered to different corps and all walks of life. It bacame so obvious that that speech was neither a threat nor a prophesy but a reality and part of life. We lost some of our Regus in the course of defending our father land, some blow AWOL, miss in action, and left in so many other ways. We specially dedicate this day to praying for the souls of all our mates who are no more alive to celebrate this day. And as we do that, let's all be conscious of the fact that we were not better of than them, but the grace of God kept us all this while. Let's also use this day to renew our relationship with God who daily keeps and protect us. And I pray for the rest of us living, we shall fulfill our purpose on earth in Jesus name, we shall never be cut off by misfortunes or accident in the course of our service to our nation in Jesus name. We shall continue to be the heads and not the tails in Jesus name. We shall be protected from the winds of evil, from the destructions that wasted in noon, from the pestilence that walks in darkness, a thousand shall fall at our side, ten thousands at our right hands in Jesus name. Even when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death we shall not be afffraid cos it can only get better for us in Jesus name. Amen. Once again happy 3rd anniversary to all the Gallant, Crack, undiluted, suicide, Killer machines and combattant intakes. And may the souls of our Fallen heroes contir to rest in Peace in Jesus name. Amen.

BlueEmbers: I know of the video you are talking about and I am happy to let you know that the video was shot the day following the Zariah tragedy, in it, the followers of the IMN were angrily protesting for the release of their leader, Sheik Zakzaky, the army officials were only there to soothe the tension and prevent the incident from escalating and arousing public sentiment, the fact that majority of the citizens of Zaria were sunni anti-Shi'a helped them considerably in this cause.
-Where have you ever seen such a case both local and abroad, where military begs civilians for passage?. -What do you think the victims ever hoped to achieve by blocking the way of a military entourage?. -Let us assume these innocents really blocked the road, preventing Buratai from passing, does that warrant the army usage of live ammunition on unharmed citizens?. Why was the case not treated in the routine manner, where the leader should be charged to court and sentenced based on judiciary verdict?. Why did Buratai take the law into his hands? -Why is it only IMN in Nigeria?, roads are also blocked on Fridays during Jumu'ah rites, many instances do the Christians block the road during evangelism, have you not also experienced the sites of massive wedding ceremonies held on government roads? some deprive the road of traffic usage for more than 3 days!. Does anyone say anything about that?. -The recent Zariah tragedy marks the third time, if not more that the government would crack down on shias, three of Sheik Zakzaky's son have been killed by the NIGERIAN ARMY during these crackdowns. -Zakzaky has no possession of weaponry whatsoever as his house was searched times without number by the military as so did the victims of the Zariah tragedy has no weapons with them!. It is clear the attack was pre-planded as everything happened so swifty, Zakzaky has also been in detention, tortured and demoralised for months without trial, this action itself automatically exposes the government's hypocrisy. -Why was their place of worship destroyed? did they erected it on the road too?.. So before you start casting vulgar flows on people for stating their opinion which might be contrary to yours, always weigh your opinion and other's on the scale of justice without prejudices due to sectarianism. Now I know exactly who you are. A Shi'it member here to defend his violent sets. U see ur life, u said the video was captured a day after the incidence which shows that you're a tupical liar. You also said no weapon was found d in Zack zacky's how which is another fat lie. If I may ask u, y always Shi'it? Why always blocking both trunk A and Trunk B highways? Is that one also a sign of peace? You have no issue here. And I don't think I should waste my precious type debating with u on irrelevant issues. But b4 I go, let me get if straight to u that the army is the strength of the nation. They lay down their lives to ensure peaceful coexistence amongst us all. SO I stand against any body or group of persons that also attacks the army and deny them access. Sweet dreams and let's end the talk here cos I may not reply any of ur biased comments again. |

Dejideji1: The thing tire me ooo, my brother, and funny enough, she claims to be born again from her moniker. And yet she is very rude.
Seriously i don't know what is wrong with Nigerian girls, a large percentage of them are very rude, arrogant and disrespectful. And that's y some of them never marry up till now...... They claim they know all. The good ones ate always singled out.. |
Politics › Re: Farmers To Pay Fee For Protection – Ogbeh by petomas(m): 8:12pm On Jul 21, 2016 |
mrkayusfit: In my opinion i think the farmers are self centered. Remember these herdsmen are Nigerians and they have the right to live and do their businesses any where in Nigeria. What's the big deal in allocating some portion of their farms for cattle grazing? If they were also rearing cattles, won't they graze them? The herdsmen are majorly the source of beef in the country and since everyone patronizes their meat, why can't we support the grazing bill so they can stop moving their cattles in the cities and instead have grazing fields? If every state creates grazing reserves don't you think it will limit clashes between farmers and herdsmen? I know there are bad eggs amongst the herdsmen but we can't throw away the baby and bath water. There has to be a compromise for the sake of peace.
The farmers should be ready to pay for their protection since they are doing their private business. They are not expected to buy guns to protect themselves. The government will provide security if they are ready to pay. The fulanis are not violent people, let's stop the stigmatization of herdsmen See ur conclusion KO? It's very obvious that the problem with we Nigerians is just sentiment and greed. *U said the farmers are self Centered. *U said again that farming is their private business. Is cattle rearing not the herdsmen's private business? Y don't you suggest that they too use their own money to buy plots of lands in their respective villages and rear their cattle's as the farmers are in their own villages minding their farming? *Thirdly u said Fulanis are peace loving people that we should not use a part to represent a whole. So all the killings by the Fulani headsmen all this while is a display of PEACE? * You also said that farmers should pay for their protection. If I may ask, are the farmers not amongst the Citizens of the country that have their right of protection? Are the Fulanis more Nigerian than the Farmers? Y don't u also suggest without any iota of sentiment that even the Fulanis should also pay for their own security? *Lastly, u said the cattle reared by the herdsmen are sources of beef for all Nigerian. If I may ask u, are the crops reared by the farmers also not consumed by all Nigerians? I don't think you have any reasonable point. You're nothing but a headsman defending his fellow herdsmen. Better change ur ways and always support nothing but the truth. #I stand against the federal govt policy that said farmers should pay to protect theirselves# |

mrkayusfit: The performance of this man has been woeful ever since he was unmeritedly picked by GEJ to replace emir sanusi. The economy is nosediving under his watch and all he has to offer are continuos excuses. I hope buhari sacks him asap and replace him with a competent Cbn governor Am not surprised at ur comment because the CBN governor is not an APC member or a northerner KO? It's usual to see the Federal government blaming all their flaws on someone else......2019 is on the way and I pray God Almighty sustains Nigerians till then. The hardship brought by this Administration is so obvious and I don't see any positive move to end it soon. Instead na travel travel....... |
Politics › Re: Protest Against Religious Extremism In Kaduna (Photos) by petomas(m): 5:23pm On Jul 20, 2016 |
BlueEmbers: It is actually the soldiers that killed hundreds of Shi'a civilians following the government directives and buried them in mass graves judging from the undisputable evidences.. So where did these ignorant protesters get their information from?. Protesting to the government (who were actually the principal executors of the Zariah genocide) is rather rhetoric and absolutely biased, the protesters should try as much as possible to do away with sectarianism as justice is at stake, it does not matter if they are Shi'a and you are sunni, have pity on the souls of the dead and take their side against the government, the government are the real criminals, they are the violators of democracy as they did not respect the right to life and freedom of speech as installed in the Nigerian constitution. It was the Shiites yesterday, today it may be you. Another Sycophant sited. Did u watch the video of how everything started and how the Nigerian army senior officers were begging the useless extremist to let them have their way to their destinations? In spite of that they were trowing stones and attacking the army convoy and u didn't condemn them? U see how biased u are in ur dealings? So u expect the Chief of Army staff and his convoy to display cowardice and turn back and never attend the POP that was slated for that day. To hell with anyone who condemns the army or the federal government on the outcome of Army and Shi'it clash in Zaria and to hell with u for supporting the evil perpetrators. Bleep U I billion times. |
