Like seriously? Are you sure? Really? Cos I don't believe it? Did any of them come out to say so? Just asking! And besides, how is the movie "Lion Heart" doing in the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival, TIFF? |
I love this girl! I see her as a mini Genevieve Nnaji! |
Our dear Bambam laying eggs! Hahahahahahaa!
|
Just saw this on twitter and I decided to bring it here... this got me laughing out loud! What do u make of this Ebuka and VAR? Ebuka is cool though!
|
Lalasticlala, Myd4, all you moderators should please come and take this topic to the front page mbok! |
Rbae:Yeah! I thinks its only Africa Magic Channels but you can still tune in to Silverbird and check if they will be airing it... If they won't be airing it, then just go to a family/friends house and watch it... There is no big deal in going to a family/friends house to watch an event that just happens once every year... ok! |
Good Day Nairalanders! The much awaited Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards AMVCA's, 2018 which is the 6th edition of this award (started 2013) is here. The event will start with the Red Carpets (arrivals) by 4pm today saturday, 1st September, 2018 and the main event should be starting by 6pm (it should be by 7pm, but you better stay glued to your TV by at least 6pm so that you won't miss a thing). The AMVCA's celebrates actors, movies, filmmakers, etc from across the continent (Africa). It has since it's first edition in 2013, taken over almost all the prestige that the Africa Movie Academy Awards, AMAA, has. It's an Award that every actor and filmmaker in the whole of Africa want to go home with. Even for the actors that have no nominations, they come to the awards to show how big, rich and fashionable they are. It's an award night that every African and Africa movie lovers look out to see and know what their favorite actor wore to the event and how many awards he/she goes home with... it's an award night that no African film lovers (black or white) wouldn't like to kiss even if your most favorite(s) weren't nominated. This year, movies like Alter Ego, Bella, Children of Mud, Okafor's Law (Omoni Oboli), Devil's Chest, Isoken, Potato Potahto, Blackrose, Excess Luggage, Tatu, Banana Island Ghost, 18 Hours, Descent, The Witness Box, etc were nominated. Actors like Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Dakore Akande, Rita Dominic, Toyin Abraham, IK Ogbonna, OC Ukeje, Joselyn Dumas, Blossom Chukwujeku, Ebele Okaro, Falz, Wale Ojo, etc. are all nominees... So now who amongst these many talented actors and theirs counterparts across Africa do you think will win big? Which movie do you think will win the highest number of awards? Which movie do you wish will win best movie West Africa, East Africa, Southern Africa and Best movie over all? Which Actors do you think will make us ROTFL while giving his/her award acceptance speech like Funke Akindele Bello did last year? Who and who is expecting more LOL's from Funke Akindele, Chigurl, Falz, IK Osakioduwa, etc? What are your expectations from the host IK Osakioduwa and Minnie Dlamini? Would you have wished that the Zimbabwean, Vimbai (IK's former co-host) should be a part of the hosts too making them three? Why? Who are the actors that you think will keep our mouths wide open with the exclamation "Wow!!!" on the Red Carpets and which actors do you think will make us all be like... "Mehn! What the hell is this?", "What the f**k is he/she wearing?", etc? Actors Rita Dominic (Queen of AMVCA'S Red Carpet), Genevieve Nnaji, Stephanie Linus, Mercy Aigbe, IK Ogbonna, Alex Ekubo, Uti Nwachukwu, RMD, Ramsey Noah, Jim Iyke, Toni Tones, Lillian Esoro, Eku Edowor, etc have all shown us what coming to the red carpets should be like... So are we still expecting a more fabulous outing with them and many more actors that would want to make a statement today? Is Ebuka Obi-Uchendu coming to outshine our actors today with his "stealing of other people's show" kinda fashion? Since he didn't make it for last year's edition because he was hosting the Big Brother Naija show in South africa? Do you think Falz the only African well known (music) artist with an AMVCAs (Best Actor in a Comedy 2016) will still make it a second take home tonight as the winner of 2018 Best Supporting Actor in a Drama? Pls what's your take on this years AMVCAs? Who are you routing for in awards, fashion, comedy, etc? Don't miss this awards today... we waited althrough March this year for this award because that's when it usually takes place but they postponed it probably because of Big Brother Naija... now it's here! Red Carpet 4pm, Awards proper 6pm - 9pm (probably). Lalasticlala, Pls come and do the needful by sending this topic to the front page... Sonsogo!!! |
MissJoy29:Go to this link and share your views on my topic... https://www.nairaland.com/4708670/amvcas-what-expectations-which-actors |
MissJoy29:I watch live on TV not Live in Eko Hotel and Suites.... Some of my favorites (not all) Like Genevieve Nnaji, Omoni Oboli, Stephanie Linus,, Sambasa Nzeribe, Funke Akindele, RMD, etc didn't submit their movies (i.e or they don't have movies for the period of interest)... Although some were nominated actors like Rita Dominic, IK Ogbonna, Queen Nwokoye, Falz, etc were nominated... |

MissJoy29:U r welcome! The AMVCA's is an award night that I can't afford to miss watching it live... I missed the first and second edition (2013 and 2014)... But I haven't missed any since then... Although my favorites ain't up for nominations this year but I won't still miss it... |
MissJoy29:Today 1st September, 2018... red carpets starts by 4 I guess while the main event/awards starts by 6pm (it should be 7pm)... But it's better u are glued to ur TV from 6pm... Thank me later! Good Morning! |
Noel1:Lol! U are funny bro! But people who know what it means for someone to know his/her onions will definitely give u this incite and even bigger overview about this movie and Genny's and other filmmakers antecedents (men and women alike) Let's just wait for this movie to hit the Cinemas! |
ogtavia:Yeah bro! U are correct! But I believe there is still more to this movie... we can wait until later it is out on the Cinemas! |
Radiant1020:Yeah! I am into it but I stepped back because some directors are too full of favoritism and Wat have u...But I still follow up the trends especially online n offline too... But I want to go into it full time and big time... I believe and know that I have a lot of things to give and bring into that industry but knowing Naija ways, u must know somebody, that knows somebody, that knows who knows another somebody before u can progress. Or u have to pay bribe till ur last cent goes down to get to wer u want to get to and most times u will even end up not moving an inch away from wer u are (wer u started paying) lol! Funny but true! The love that I have for this industry is to the point that if I wer to be a governor or even d president, Nollywood will have a better place than it has now in Nigeria and oversees... Cos if u check the revenue that could be generated from Nollywood, then u will know it is not an industry that u will just overlook... So Yes Ma'am! I want to go into the movie industry at least starting with acting. |
DarryOsh:Yeah! Trailers gives incite to what a movie is going to be like... But my dear this particular trailer said a lot of things but if u look closely, there is still a lot of suspense... U kinda know where this movie is coming from, but u don't know wer it will be headed later and definitely u won't decipher how this movie is going to end... Just look at it one more time... The guy that I quoted actually acted like the movie is just one regular movie like that without content and even went ahead to use the word "mediocre" which should not even be used here at all... Just see the trailer once more u will understand what I am saying! Good Morning to you and have a stress free Saturday!!! |
Radiant1020:Thanks so much dear! I appreciate! People need to be told and educated about the extraordinary improvements in Nollywood! Some still think it's still those old Nollywood days... Just like someone above was saying that Genny's movie can't be on Netflix without knowing that not just her movie, but her movies and a lot of other wonderful Nollywood movies are on Netflix. So someone needs to start telling people the trust. And as a matter of fact, (minus the oil and gas sector), Nollywood is the only industry and establishment that I still have high hopes in and on in Nigeria. Most other industries and even everything about the government both presently and "whenever" sickens me. I see nothing promising in any other sector apart from there two sectors for now shaa! Thanks for your observation! I appreciate! I want to hit it big in these industries and I believe God will open my way and ways for me anyhow and soon in Jesus Name!!! Ameeeeeeeeeen!!! |
EmekaMD:Yeah bro! It's a fact... we can actually relate to and with these stories unlike some so called alien fiction wey no fit happen and many of those so called alien nonsense can be very annoying... I like Hollywood movies especially their Epic movies. But some of there science fiction movies can be very annoying with almost zero content... Even d do called wakanda (Black Panther) wasn't Wat I was expecting... I was actually expecting a real African story not all those "let's show these whites dat we can do it even better" kinda movie... Cos for me thats d way I see that Black Panther! The movie is cool though but I was more disappointed than overwhelmed about it. But truth be told, New Nollywood is better and cool now but there is always room for improvement! |
EmekaMD:Lol! Bro! Just don't argue some ppl think say Nollywood still be that old time Nollywood. Dem no know say dem don evolve finish... Yes, dem still get some mediocre directors in d industry (even in Hollywood) but majority of dem dey d old Nollywood category not the new Nollywood (Cinema movies)... |
Skmoda360:The last movie she did (produced) titled "Road to Yesterday" is in Netflix and was even premiered in 2016 TIFF wre only she and Kunle Afolayo (October 1) wer given time in d event and interviewed and she was called "Nollywood Sweetheart". E come be this new one wey carry better content and better legendary squad from both movie and music industry no go dey Netflix... Bro sincerely speaking, Nollywood don pass dat level of dat year wen u fit predict a movie from d beginning to the end n wen mediocrity was the oda of the day... Now if dem do better movie, spend better money do movie, dem go first flex (premiere) am finish outside d country in world class film festivals, make der money finish, carry put for Netflix n some other better online money making platforms, before dem go reason carry am come Nigerian n other African Cinemas come chop der money again then if luck come fall d oda way, pirates fit see am now go duplicate but before den, dem don chop Belle full... So bro, Nollywood don pass that old level d only regular movies u see around r d ones wey dem no too spend too much to produce na dem u dey see anyhow... But movie "a kworo ezigbo aka shie" (wey dem wash hand very well cook) dem no dey see am anyhow... And yes! Her movies dey dey Netflix! Thanks! |
Sincerely speaking I have been following the making of this movie right from the time of casting, till date n I can't just wait to go see it when it finally hits the Cinemas!!! Genny is really making Nollywood proud... imagine her first directorial debut come be like say she has been into it for ages... Omoni Oboli and very few other ladies in the industry dey try too as regards production and content... But I give it to Genny she is something else... #LessTalkAndABillionAction!!! |
ogtavia:No offense bro! And I must say that u are entitled to ur opinion... But from this trailer that I just watched, this movie is going to be everything wonderful and amazing that the word "mediocrity" won't even have a space to come out of critics mouths... not only will it open a lot more doors for Genny and Nollywood again like "Road to Yesterday" did for her and Nollywood in 2016 TIFF, but this time it will be something overwhelming... did u see the graphics, picture quality, the galaxy of stars in this movie,... a lot of ppl will be anticipating cos even if dem tell me say Me. P fit act before now I no go believe, Pyhno too, not to talk of our legends dem... just wait till this movie hits Nigerian and other African Cinemas... Even before the announcement of dates that it will start showing in the Cinemas, the tickets go finish for air before e reach ground! We have been hearing of Nollywood blockbusters but Mehn! This will create another record for Nollywood blockbusters/box office to follow... Wedding party o, Wives of strike o, okafor's law, 76, 93 days, dry, 30 Days in Atlanta, 10 Days in Suncity o, etc which are very wonderful movies but dey will all be like a child's play to this movie (Lionheart) with the cash out in the Cinemas... I am not exaggerating... Na fact I dey talk!!! This movie will definitely take Nollywood to another extraordinary level quote me anywhere... I dey believe Genevieve's Doings!!! Infact I too dey believe her Workings pass anybody for that industry men and women alike!!! Even Onyeka Onwenu confirmed this in her interview with Wazobia TV shortly after d shooting of this movie... she said "Genny knows what many of us that has been in the industry even before her doesn't know! Just wait and see her... she is coming...." |
Nollywood have come to stay! They are really doing great... Especially when it comes to cinema movies... when it comes to good content and wonderful movie production in Nollywood cinema movies now, you should talk about Genevieve Nnaji, Omoni Oboli, Kunle Afolayo, Ramsey Noah, Stephanie Linus, Rita Dominic, Desmond Elliot, Emem Isong, Omotola, Nse Ekpe Etim, Monalisa, Mildred Okoh, Blessing Egbe, even our lovely Jenifa (Funke Akindele dey try), Lance (the Edo born director) and a handful of others. These ppl know what they are doing in the industry... |
citizenY:Hahahahahahaaa! Mehn! Sincerely speaking! I don tire for this Nigeria. If u are really observant in all my posts here on this topic, I haven't used the great word "country" for Nigeria... Because it is far far far below what should be seen as a country talk less of what a country should be. I can remember those days... I used to (almost) cry while singing the national anthem (especially in the stadium because of my love THEN for Nigeria). During children's day celebration 27th May and every 1st October... I must be in the Stadium matching my legs and hands out for the love I HAD for Nigeria... I can remember vividly when I used to cry in Primary School just cos of the fact that I wasn't selected for matching (27 May and 1st October alike) then when I was finally selected u need to have seen the joy... all through my secondary school years I would always be looking up to those two days... Infact after my birthday then, the next best days in the year for me was 27th May and 1st October... I used to feel very happy about anything Nigeria and even had hope that things would get better even up till when I served... but not until lately I just feel too disgusted about almost everything about Nigeria... all those Nigeria "shall" and "will" be great future tense have all vanished... In the United States, athletes are seen on TV either kneeling or raising there fist in protest while their national anthem is on... But I call that child's play when it comes to the way many people feel about Nigeria right now... Just forget about what u see on TV, even the ppl who preach love for Nigeria hate Nigeria so deeply within then in their closets. They only shout love up and down for their own selfish gains... Those days, I could even fight u if u talk nonsense about Nigeria but my brother right now... I will even avoid any topic that has to do with Nigeria... Because I might end up falling out with u because of the anger in me about Nigeria. I only contributed to this topic because I feel the OP is intelligent and straightforward and I love UAE... If not na to just read and pass... Even while reading, the most annoying part is when I come across the comments from some key monikers a.k.a "Nairaland.com celebrities", I just ask myself if these ppl are really human beings? I ask if they really read true their comments and cross check it with their consciences before posting? But I later realized that they do not have conscience but that they are just doing their jobs probably for their daily pay... |
tomakint:Yes brother! I like the way you talk/sound very intelligent and straightforward... But let's just face reality in this Nigeria bro... Who do you think will agree to adapt to the old ways of Regional government talk less of the the 21st century national Confab? I mean, bro let's just face it... it won't and can't just happen! I agree with u that any of this two options (1960's regional govt or 2014 confab) can change this country but my brother you and I know that their are people who believe that they own Nigeria and by so doing they will never ever agree to any of this options not even to any one that is 1/10 of this option... So let's just face it bro! It will only be a miracle for any of those options to be agreed on! Shikina! |
I just like this your story (facts) about UAE... Very interesting I must confess! But sincerely speaking (whether anybody likes it or not) I don't see anything LIKE this (UAE) happening or changing in Nigeria... Very sad but true! Most people keep dancing around while "old rotten wines" are being turned into "new jars"! I just keep laughing! Funny enough many ppl have already given up on Nigeria even those who used to say "Anyway, make we just dey manage dey go!" many of them lost hope completely last year... Such a big pity!!! Lalasticlala Pls do the needful! This topic ought to be in the FrontPage... |
harriet412:Lol! No I am not... Just like I said, my comment might sound funny but it is the truth... He is a pastor and well as a Nollywood actor. I once met him on set in Owerri/Mbaise in on movie production likoe that. He is a very responsible man! He doesn't talk too much, he doesn't shout, and he likes minding his business... from what I saw in that set, he is a good man. But as for this topic, I still don't known if that is a movie set or a real shrine. I don't know about that... |
He is truly a pastor and also a Nollywood actor... No jokes! But what I can't decipher now is if this is a movie set in Imo State or if truly it's a real shrine... But he is a pastor and also an actor... Sounds funny but true... He is a good man! He doesn't talk too much on movie set/location and he is very responsible! |
Why are people so bitter about this guy? I only got to know that he is a Nigerian when he came for the first Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, AMVCA (2013). Pls let's appreciate good things... What even makes some of you think that his career is dead? For the fact that the likes of Genevieve Nnaji, Nse Ekpe Etim, Stephanie Linus, Rita Dominic (some how), Omotola, Ramsey Noah, Jim Iyke, etc are not always on the TV as they used to be before... does it mean that their careers are dead Better check well and properly... Cos I tell you that these actors are working and cooking big things underground, and round the clock that when they come out you will marvel... The same is applicable to this Hakeem. He is here to help Nollywood (which most of you will say produce rubbish even without seeing good and wonderful nollywood cinema movies). Instead of some of you guys to hail him for taking such bold step you are just talking trash... Pull him Down Syndrome, a.k.a PhD's which is typical of Nigerians. You will hardly see them support their own instead they would want ro drag everybody down to their own level or even below their level. It is really bad please stop it! Let's encourage this guy for this bold step... Cos one of the reasons why other Nigerian Hollywood stars don't want to come down here and help Nollywood is cos of this same PhD's! Thanks! |

It's such a Messi-ful thing that some of our friends who went to Putin's territory on vacation will be back anytime from now and before time o! What a pity?! So Messi-ful!!! |
