Loool That was pose to be a question I am asking you I didn’t ask you relating to the masters I was asking you but it’s fine thanks quote author=Pharmz post=83530615]

My brother, kindly read before you comment.
The writer wrote "masters in business administration" . Thank you

Ooh, I see... that's fine. Accept my apologies.
I'm not vast though but I think as an undergrad... there's no much to worry about cos VOs believe most are still dependants... but a SOA of ones biological parents will do a lot and ones ability to convince the VO on why you've choose the US.

Thank you.

Good day to the experts! Please am here again . I read that your CV that's your work experience must be in line with what you are going to study . like I worked in plant garden for my I.T experience then during my Nysc I worked in agric department of that local government . After I finished serving I got a job as a marketer . so am confused as not to put my marketing experience as it may serve as a hindrance for the supervisor not to consider me because I read in nairaland that your CV must be in line with your field of study. I studied Botany. Thanks!

Quite good you're conversant with this notion, kindly flee from anything that may hinder your chances of approval. I actually studied botany as well from OOU, so I've ensured that my journey has been tru the corridor of agro-sciences or life sciences (Industrial training at IITA, NYSC at Ministry of agric and natural resources and afterwards a biology/agric/general science teacher for 6 years. In 2019, i visa approval for applied clinical research, St Cloud State University, Minnesota.
Bottom line is to be consistent and be coherent with your stages. It shows one is actually purposeful.

Hi guys!
My interview is on Tuesday 22nd October.
This is my proposed transcript.
Please help review and show me my flaws. I will be really grateful. Thank you.

Me: Good Morning Sir
VO: Good Morning. Your passport and I-20

Me: Passes both

VO: Where are you going?
Me: I am going to Franklin University for my Masters in Business Administration degree.

VO: Why USA? Why not Nigeria? Why not Canada?
Me: You will agree with me that education is the US is widely known for its global recognition and reputation which will look great on my resume and help me achieve my goal of becoming a well-respected Business Consultant.

VO: How did you get to know about Franklin University?
Me: I conducted my personal research -school-on-school- and one thing that stood Franklin University out was that the curriculum which carries with it the Business Sustainability & Transitioning course which stands as a major problem in Nigeria and I would love to be a major solution to it. Following the death of the founders, almost every Nigerian business dies; this negatively impacts the Nigerian economy and is a major challenge to be tackled.

I followed up with the Professor in charge – Professor Charles Brighton- and I was very convinced that Franklin is the best place to get this knowledge.

Finally, my current CFO is an alumnus of the school and he highly recommended Franklin to me.

VO: How is this degree going to help you?
Me: Currently, I work as a Finance & Accounts Analyst at Crux Plc and have built a solid foundation in managing the finance of a business. I would love to further understand how businesses operate holistically -by understanding the operations, people and leadership, finance, marketing and sales. This will help me achieve my dream of becoming a Business Consultant so I can be a solution to Nigeria’s dying businesses.

VO: What are your plans after graduation?
Me: I will return to Nigeria; work with a reputable business consulting firm for 2 years to further understand the Nigeria business market. Afterwards, I will startup my own business consulting firm to solve Nigeria’s business problems.

VO: What is your first degree? when did you graduate?
Me: B.Sc. Business Administration / 2015

VO: What have you been doing since graduation?
Me: Immediately after graduation I got a scholarship to study for a mini-MBA program at Lagos Business School through with I got a job at Cruuucc Plc where I have been working as a Finance & Accounts Executive for almost 2 years now.

VO: GRE/GMAT/TOEFL
Me: No

VO: How many schools did you apply to?
Me: 2 schools- Northeastern University and Franklin University. Both admitted me.

VO: Why did you choose Franklin?
Me: As I mentioned earlier Franklin has a unique curriculum; the Business Sustainability & Transitioning course stood Franklin University out as it will make me achieve my dream of solving Nigeria’s business problem.

VO: Can you tell me some courses you will be taking?
Me: Corporate Finance, Business Sustainability, Operations Management, HR Management, Leadership, Innovation for Business, Business Consulting, Strategy.

VO: Which course interests you most and why?
Me: Business Sustainability & Transitioning. As explained above.

VO: What do you know about Columbus, Ohio?
Me: Columbus Ohio, named after the famous Christopher Columbus, is the state capital and most populous city in the US state of Ohio with an estimate population of 900,000 people. It is one of the fastest growing cities in the US. In 2013, Forbes gave Columbus an “A” grade as one of the top cities for business in the US and then one of the best places for business and careers.

VO: Who is your sponsor?
Me: My dad

VO: What does your sponsor do?
AES: He owns a rẹal estate company

VO: Your visa is approved!
AES: Thank you sir.

Beware about your response to what the degree will do for you. You're already working as a financial executive in a company, why not choose to continue with the company but in a higher capacity on your arrival. Looking out for other job openings to work for two years only shows some iota in lack of home ties in terms of profession.

Yes, it's acceptable. I used a printed scanned copy and I got approval.

good afternoon everyone.

I got an admission for masters of public health, but on receiving my i-20 i saw health/health care administration/management.

hope this is not a problem?

thank you

It's no problem, there's always a general name for a group of courses. E.g I was admitted for Applied Clinical Research but my I-20 reads Medical Scientist. This same Medical Scientist covers for a student of Medical Technology Quality.

So far Family is entered as your source of funding on your I-20 (which is the case in most schools), you can use a different statement. Just make sure it's genuine.

Ok... that's understandable

Smile.....bro, how can you inform the school that Mr A is your sponsor and you later go to the consulate to use Mr B as your sponsor. If you are a visa officer...what will be your reaction?

Where did you hear the emboldened? If that was your experience, I can authoritatively tell you that this is not the case in every school.[/quote

I don't need to hear before saying that, it's a matter of experience, tho personal anyway... I want to believe I-20 carries your sponsors name and it's bank statement amount.

Just few questions

(1) Did you "in person" use two bank statement?

(2) Did you not submit proof of financial capability before the release of your I-20? And was same not on ur I-20?me Betteree from things that may reduce the chances of visa approval.

(3) I think I'll like to know those schools with an exception.

PLEASE HELP!
Good evening everyone!
I have a very important question as regards bank statement.
Can one use two separate bank statements? That is, when the one used in applying for graduate school at the initial stage is different from that which is tendered at the embassy?

Ï think that's not possible because the bank statement you issued during your application process would have been entered on the SEVIS web and same will be printed on your I-20... "remember your i20 Will be required at the point of your visa interview.... So I wondered how that can be possible.

VISA denied on the 29th of August.
Lagos Consulate
VO: Window 4 (a blonde white woman in her early thirties)

My transcript went like this.

VO: Come along sir. Good morning, sir
Me: Good morning.
VO: Your passport, please... And also your I-20.
VO: I can see you are going to the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler and you are going for a Biotechnology program.
Me: Yes
VO: Why do you want to school in the US.
Me: The US boast of best, groundbreaking researches that are unmatched anywhere else in the world, especially in the area of Biomedical sciences, specifically in Cancer biology. Therefore, since I intend having a career as a research scientist in this field, I believe going to the United States for a masters program in Biotechnology is the best decision to make.
VO: Are you a graduate?
Me: Yes.
VO: Oh, what did you study?
Me: Pharmacology from the University of Lagos.
VO: oh so, you are a graduate of Pharmacology and want to go into Oncology?
Me: Yes.
VO: You do not have a working experience.
Me: I do. I have a year work experience during my NYSC that I completed in March this year, where I worked in a Pharmaceutical company as a Marketing Executive. My roles involved assisting the product managers in the management of the sales team.
VO: okay - though she didn't seem impressed - so, what have you been doing since then?
Me: I have been preparing for my graduate studies.
VO: So, what will this course do for you?
Me: I intend going for a phD degree, but currently don't have adequate research experience to enable me or qualify me to go for a phD program. Having a Master degree in this course will provide me the adequate experience and equip me towards a phD degree. Also, I am particularly interested in this program because aside being awarded a graduate assistantship, tuition scholarships and tuition remission, the school has a rich history in conducting intensive research in lung diseases like lung cancer. The school is even known as the East Texas Chest Center because of the high research activity in lung diseases (I began to stutter here, and apologized. She asked me to take my time and continue that she is trying to type in everything I was saying) These researches align with my interest. Also the school actively encourages students planning to further their studies by providing opportunities to publish their researches in Top science journals.
VO: I can see you have an assistantship of 12000 dollars, who is paying for the rest?
Me: My maternal uncle.
VO: What does he do?
Me: He is a successful business man that's into importation and sales of cars.
VO: Have you traveled out of the country before?
Me: I have not had the reason until now.
VO: Alright. I am sorry, I will not be approving your VISA, this paper will explain why (with a fake sad face undecided)
I wish you the best.

Although my school already resumed on the 19th and classes started this Monday - this was the first thing the man at the passport verification point noted. However the VO never made mention of it during the interview. I was certain I was denied because of the late resumption. But is it possible the VO didn't even notice it and denied me for another reason?

Note :
(1) You shouldn't have stated you worked as a marketing executive when you studied pharmacology and you even had the opportunity to work in a Pharmaceutical company. *Incoherent line of profession *
(2) Based on personal experience, I think VOs prefers that there should be no time whereby you have no job at hand especially as a graduate, even if it's the least of a teaching job. *preparing for your graduate studies since March doesn't seems to ace it. Of course, so many people here processed their admission, did exams while still working. Personally, I will say that was my own saving grace during my interview cos since I graduated I've always kept myself busy and I will say that was the hardest question in my interview.

(3) I will say going for your PhD after MSc rang a bell of probably staying back in the US after your MSc.

(4) please kindly find another well reckoned profession to always accord your sponsors.

OVERALL, YOU DID WELL.
