Opiosko: Whatever may be the outcome, APC should learn some sense of decorum. Fighting PDP, INEC and all security organs will not help any of us. Only a paranoid man will always think everyone and everything is against him. That is GEJ's mentality from 2010 and it remains till this day |
Culture › Re: Is Traditional Marriage Complete Marriage? by pheesayor(m): 11:04am On Aug 09, 2014 |
Mynd44: White wedding is a form of traditional wedding. Traditional wedding we borrowed from another culture.
I essence, if you do your traditional wedding and a "white" wedding, you just did two traditional weddings. Any wedding which is blessed by your church pastor(leader) is a church wedding. It does not matter if you wear white(or a gown or the groom wears a 3 piece suit) or not. It does not matter if you have it in church or not(you can have it in a hall and your pastor comes over to bless you with the church's backing)
Hell these days, traditional leaders have marriage registers which is domiciled with the Baale, local Oba or an recognised Traditional leader and you go there to sign it which makes it official(They report to the Local Governments)
I don't know why people love calling their traditional marriage "engagement" and their church wedding "wedding" it is just weird. When you have something called "Introduction" which is basically an engagement ceremony. Gbam!!! at the bolded. This is exactly what I made my financee understand. What we call introduction is engagement but we have turned traditional wedding to the engagement. As the copycats that we are, relegating our own ways to the background just to show off. |

The state government simply needs to pay more attention to drainage clearance, increase the capacity of those in charge to do more simultaneously. Where's berem sef? naptu2: They are under the Ministry of Environment. They wear overalls and boots. I've seen them work at Ikorodu Road, Ozumba Mbadiwe Road and Herbert Macaulay Road. It started out as the Emergency Flood Abatement Gang (EFAG), before it was converted to an agency (EFAD). EFAG was also part of the government's employment measures.
However, I'm not sure how well they pay their labourers, because they are always begging for money/food.
The Office of Drainage Services (ODS) is quite unpopular, because they often demolish walls/buildings that are too close to drains.

you're right, a few LGAs do that though, for some inner streets. This however is a highway and to be honest, there are people that sweep these roads too, as ask anyone that works in Lagos. The problem is the drains are covered and cleaning them every fortnight becomes impossible because you need heavy machines to lift the slabs. Where I fault the state government is that they allowed the drains to be extremely filled before starting the cleanup process. IGBOSON1: If the LGA concerned was alive to its responsibilities by clearing the gutters -at least every fortnight- then we wouldn't have got to this stage to begin with!
It's the same in all our major cities and urban centres: LGAs shirking their responsibilities and allowing filth to pile up! Ordinarily, streets in busy commercial areas ought to be swept every evening after close of business! |
Politics › Re: LASG Finally Moves To Clear Blocked Drainaiges by pheesayor(m): 2:02pm On Aug 05, 2014 |
The drains are covered but due to indiscriminate dumping of waste by everyone, also by road side traders. ROSSIKE: IT IS PURE SUB-STANDARD RUBBISH WORK.
EVERY DRAIN MUST be covered, and covered in such a way, with solid concrete, and form a pedestrian sidewalk which nobody can ''open'', with the drains accessible to the authorities (workmen) only through vents built on the side of the road (between the road and sidewalk). It is only when you build substandard rubbish that you see all this nonsense of open, stinking drains and somebody needing to 'clear' the drains and all that filthy nonsense. |

those who rush into Lagos do squat with relatives, do they pay revenue? Those who sleep in corners, do they pay tax? Go to under various bridges that are not barricaded, people have started residing there again. Need I mention more? Firefire: Population explosions,
This means the higher the population the higher the IGR and the more they should give to the masses.
But, overwhelmed is not even applicable in the case of some areas in Lagos as you cannot see or feel the Impact of the Local or State government in the past years, hence the issue of overwhelmed is not tenable. |

just saw this though LAGOS SETS TO GRADE UNTARRED ROADS.
Lagos State Government is set to begin massive grading of untarred roads in the 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas of the State in its efforts to make transportation within various communities easier for the people.
This was disclosed by the Honourable Commissioner for Rural Development, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi at the Monthly Stakeholders Interactive Session of the Ministry with the Executive Members of Community Development Committees (CDCs) and Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators in the 57LGAs/LCDAs of the State.
The commissioner said as soon as the rain stops the Ministry of Rural Development will embark on the grading of untarred roads in all the Local Government areas of the State.
He therefore urged the CDAs/CDCs to liaise with the Director in charge of Civil Engineering in his Ministry and present to him the untarred roads that are in critical state and need urgent Government attention.
Ojelabi while urging the CDAs, CDCs as well as the Neighbourhood Watch personnel to intensify efforts in Community policing, also charged them to always give feed back to the people on the outcome of their meeting for the betterment of their people.
The representative of the State Ministry of Health, Mrs. Omowunmi George called the attention of the people to the deadly killer disease in the sub-region now, the Ebola virus disease and gave them tips on how to recognize the infected person and what to do in preventing the spread of the disease.
Mrs. George said the disease can be transmitted to fellow human being through physical contact with body fluid such as blood, urine, stool, saliva, breast milk and semen of an infected person adding that it can also be contacted through the washing of the dead body of an infected person or contact with corpse of an infected person.
She urged the people to reduce their contact with high risk animals including the eating of bush meat so as to prevent the spread of the disease.
George encouraged the observation of high level of personal hygiene by washing of hands with soap and water thoroughly and frequently especially after having contact with sick people.
She urged them not to hesitate to contact the Ministry of Health if they noticed any symptom of the disease in their area.
Also at the gathering was the representative of the Ministry of the Environment, Office of Drainage Service’s, Engr. Ayodele Kuku who solicited for the support of the Neighbourhood Watchers and the CDAs/CDCs in educating their people on the need to stop the unwholesome habit of dumping refuse in the drains and canals when its rain.
Engr. Kuku noted that the State will continue to enjoy flood free environment if the people play their parts by not blocking the right of way of water through the dumping of refuse in drains and canal or building on drainage channels.
She also implored the CDCs members to talk to their children and wards not to disturb the Ministry workers whenever they come around to clear the drainages and canals in their area while also urging them to call on their Ministry if they have any challenges as the Ministry will be quick to respond.
Also, present to educate and enlighten the CDAs and Neighbourhood watchers was the representative of the State Safety Commission, Mrs. Bisola Agboola who disclosed that her Agency was set up basically to ensure safety as a way of life in Lagos State.
She noted that her Agency has been doing this through public enlightenment and advocacy to schools both private and public, vocational centres, artisans, business community, construction and manufacturing sectors and all identified stakeholders with a view to enforcing the safety laws.
Others are the representative of the Lagos State Bureau of statistics under the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, and Representative of Medpro Global Resources.
Highlight of the meeting was the valedictory speech of the retiring Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development, Mr. Olatunde Agoro who will be retiring on the 5th of August, 2014.
He recounted the good services he rendered to the State in the last 34years and 8months with thanksgiving to the Almighty God for his faithfulness and mercy. |

Can't be substandard, Julius berger built that road. It is the daily activities of Lagosians that blocked the drainage. Imagine trading on the drain covers, people litter the roads and dirt gets blown or washed into the drains. How then does this make the project substandard ? slimfit1: Fashola and his substandard work sometimes. |

I had yabbed you already until I saw your first line pumapuma: Here's innjoo-i1s performance test I just read at mobility.ng
Sorry about the format, I am on Mobile phone
The InnJoo i1s arrived MOBILITY earlier today, and right after setting it up, I ran the usual benchmark tests to see how it stacks up against the devices it is trying to disrupt in the market. The specs of the i1s pit it against devices like the Motorola Moto G, Huawei Honor 3C and my favourite in that class, the LG L90 D410. All the devices the i1s is up against cost N35,000 and above in the market here. At N14,000, does the InnJoo i1s skimp on performance? Have a look: InnJoo i1s Motorol a Moto G Huawei Honor 3C LG L90 Dual D410 Display : 5.0 inches, 196 PPI. Display: 4.5 inches, 325 PPI. Gorilla 3 Display : 5.0 inches, 293 PPI. For both Quadrant and AnTuTu, the higher the scores, the better the performance. The InnJoo actually manges to edge out all the others in both tests. In the few hours I have used it, I haven’t noticed any performance issues that suggest the above scores are misleading. Remember that I have used all three of the Moto G, Honor 3C and D410. The i1s feels like it is right up there with them in smoothness. From the raw specs, the i1s appears to be weaker than the rest of the bunch in the areas of display (resolution and protection), and battery capacity. Of course, I will have more information about actual battery performance after I have used the device for a while. But even if those are its areas of compromise, that wouldn’t be too bad. Usually, a lower cost means that some compromises exist somewhere. But as far as performance is concerned, I must say that the Innjoo i1s isn’t half bad for a N14,000 smartphone. Not bad at all. Wait! What am I saying? It is absolutely fabulous!
