Tambuwal Denies Rumours Of Defection To APC
BY CHANNELS TELEVISION . OCT 20, 2014
TambuwalThe Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has denied the rumour that he had defected from the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

A statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Malam Imam Imam, said that the clarification became necessary due to various media inquiries about the purported defection of the Speaker.

The statement reads: “Monday, 20/10/2014, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Tony Anenih, led other members of the party to a reconciliation meeting in Sokoto but the Speaker of the House of Representatives and a member of the NEC of the PDP, Rt. Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal CFR, was not invited to the meeting.

“Rt. Hon Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal was later invited by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, to attend the meeting of their political family to discuss the political future of Sokoto State.

“The Speaker, Rt. Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, duly obliged and attended the meeting. The meeting had in attendance prominent Sokoto citizens, many of who have no known political affiliation. The most notable being the Sardauna of Sokoto and former Minister of Finance, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji.”

He added that consultations on the Speaker’s political future had continued and that the outcome would be made public at the appropriate time.

Online media had been agog with reports about his defection to the APC, quoting him to have asked the party members present in the meeting to accept him “as one of you, starting from today”.

Politics / Speaker Tambuwal Defects To APC by pheesayor(m): 7:25pm On Oct 20, 2014
The Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal has defected to Nigeria’s Opposition, All Progressives Congress, APC dumping the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP a platform through which he emerged speaker of the green chamber.

Tambuwal defected Monday in Sokoto when he attendeed the APC Stakeholders meeting , the speaker is expected to announce his defection officially during Tuesday’s plenary session in the House of the Whole…

Some members of the House of Representatives are also expected to defect with him during tomorrows plenary from the People’s Democratic Party. Tambuwal in the last one year has been a strong opposition to the ruling PDP, ignoring the National Executive Committee meetings of the party and attending events organized by Chieftains of the APC.

His defection comes as no surprise especially for political analysts who before now, predicted his eventual defection ahead of the 2015 general elections.. Tambuwal is known for moving from one political party to another since he began his career in active politics.

At the stakeholders meeting reports gather were Aliyu Wamako, the executive governor of Sokoto State, and Inuwa Abdulkadir, the former Minister of Youth Development who served under the President Goodluck Jonathan’s cabinet before he was sacked.

Politics / Re: How Lagos Spent N160 Bn World Bank Loan – Fashola by pheesayor(m): 1:09pm On Oct 20, 2014
“What the voodoo economists will not tell you is that N51 billion of certified works, done on Federal Government Roads by the Lagos State Government, is owed to our Government by the Federal Government and is not yet paid. If we had N51 billion, what we would borrow will be reduced by that amount.

If they take up projects, like rehabilitating the expansion joints on the bridges built in Lagos when she was the Federal capital, our burden will reduce. If they provide electricity to schools and hospitals, the cost of Government will reduce.

“Whatever the case, let me assure you that your state can repay every debt that she has contracted; in order to provide services for you. This year our 2009 bond for N50 Billion fell due for repayment.

Religion / Re: Praying To God By Using The Name Of Your Pastor,is It Something Wrong? by pheesayor(m): 11:33am On Oct 19, 2014
Is anything wrong with God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob as has been used for generations?

CAC which I am a member of for example use God of Apostle Ayodele Babalola, doesn't mean we are praying to Babalola but his God who also is the same true living God as God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, through that you are also tapping into the covenant God had with those men.

In my opinion there's nothing wrong.

damiperry:
I have seen people using the names of their pastor when praying, like God of this,God of that hear my prayer, rather than praying to God directly. To me i see it as something wrong cos u don't know if the pastor has his own small god who he is worshipping in secret n you re indirectly worshipping his god too by sayin d god of this(your pastor name).xo nlanders what's your view about this?...apy xunday

This is very insightful.

With all his anti corruption hype, there is not one movement he is pushing to fight or expose corruption.

Taking a loan to get a nomination form is a sign of bad management decision. It is like lottery, since when did banks grant loans for lottery or any venture with a flip coin chance.
He would have raised the money from associates or at least part of his savings.
Is this the way he will be taking loans to solve national challenges? Instead of considering all alternative.

Buhari declared and next day, Boko Haram agrees to a ceasefire, what am I thinking?

you're attempting to distort public opinion tongue

Ekiti! Speaker directs Ekiti Lawmakers to go on recess for one month as armed thugs take over Assembly after @GovAyoFayose inauguration in an attempt to impeach the house speaker and from PDP's antecedent, the speaker did the wise thing.

Politics / The Hypocrisy Of Age by pheesayor(m): 11:46am On Oct 16, 2014
"Hypocrisy is when you say that Buhari is too old at 72 and you keep calling Awolowo and Zik your heroes, whereas, Awo and Zik contested for Presidency in 1983 when they were both 74 and 77 respectively!

Hypocrisy is when you say the youths are better than the old wereas the youths were responsible for the wars we had and are still having in Nigeria, Ojukwu and Gowon in 1967, Asari, Tompolo, Shekau in today's Nigeria, youth doesn't connote soundness of mind and old doesn't mean you're senile. GEJ became Deputy Governor in his 40's, OBJ's first presidency was in 40's, IBB ruled Nigeria in his 40's......Look at NANS today, will you be comfortable if GEJ handover to NANS Executive?

There are good youths and good old ones, age doesn't take your brain away neither is youthfulness a guarantee for mental fertility!

There was enlightenment, on radio, tv and even social media
whirlwind7:

The answers to your first 2 questions are yes and yes. May seem unbelievable, but if you have ever lived for a period of time outside Nigeria, you will understand.
The enlightenment part is what I can't vouch for, but if LASG can keep this up, perhaps even dedicate one day in every month to observe a "no horn" day, the trend will gradually catch up, until it becomes a part of the diving culture here.

The key word is PATIENCE.
Many people tap the horn button for no good reasons: saying hello to a friend while driving by, trying to get the attention of roadside hawkers, letting the driver ahead of you know that he's too slow for your liking...the list is as endless as it is unnecessary. Almost everyone on Lagos roads go through moments of madness between the hours of 6am till 11am, then from 5pm till about 10pm. We are all in a hurry to get to work, and then get home afterwards. These irritating horn sounds peak within these periods and it can be very annoying.

All those blaming the man should remember it is the duty of the man to knack and the wives have ways of getting them to do so. It also the duty of both to agree to family planning and the method but this depends on the wife to succeed because once she refuses to do what she's supposed to do and there's intercourse then pregnancy is very possible.

berem: There's another dangerous wooden bridge if you're going to Ipaja via Hotel bus stop along LASU-IBA road. The bridge was built across a swamp and very dangerous. I passed there like a year ago and its been tolled by locals in that area.

There are many of such bridges scattered across Lagos.
