And I dare say which daft mod brought this inciteful post bereft of all decorum to the front page this early morning? Where are the youths burning the posters? You even brought this to the front page with all the early comments proudly flouting all NL laid down rules. Tell us why you should be retained as a mod in this forum. A thread without any iota of facts in which a criminal act was carried out coupled with an insane poster who do not even know his left from his right. Smh....this thread should be removed from front page and deleted from NL.

This is lacking of any substance. 1. The statusquo as ordered by the court was never threatened by d police. 2. Police must maintain law and order at anytime, anywhere in nigeria. 3. Police got intelligence report that one alh. Tambuwal in company of thugs planned to disrupt peace of NASS. That was more than reason to cordon off the complex. Proactive policing, i dare say.

When they get to the southwest they insult the northerners. When they get to the southeast they insult the southwesterners. When they are in the north they insult the people of the southeast. PDP have so much gained from divisive politics in this dispensation. What baffles me is the people of the north who still want to vote the PDP after all the unprintable names they have been called by the southern members of this party.

Let GEJ be reminded that for once the house of reps decided to go with who fits the bill rather than play politics of mediocrity and ethnicity which was used to foist him on all of us despite all signs of incompetence and mediocrity surrounding him. That is the sole reason why we are here today. I urge the next house to do the same by selecting the best man for the job no matter where he/she comes from. It's time PDP stopped deciding the fate of 170million Nigerians with the kind of undemocratic politics they play where ethnicity, religion is put above competence and experience.

Let me repeat:

First off, Oba is supposed to be a Royal Father. Royal Father of all Lagosians irrespective of their political affiliations.

Secondly, Oba is supposed to apolitical, and by apolitical, I mean that an Oba is not supposed to prefer one political party to the others because he is supposed to be father of all.

Thirdly, Oba said that he was annointed by God to be Oba, but then he is supposedly against God's will, should this God chose to anoint someone from the PDP, because obviously God can only appoint from the APC.

Fourthly, Oba said he refuse to visit his President, because his God has to be guide him before he recognizes his own President.

Its shameful to know an Oba can be this silly.
How silly did you call the revered Oba of Benin when he openly endorsed your master on the 25th of April 2014? Dr Abalaka's ban have been lifted, you need to cure yourself from this HIV of the brain.

I will like to ignore your vituperation because I have decided to be a gentleman this very minute. There is no justification for coup detat in 21st century. We as Nigerians MUST steer clear of thoughts of coup and alienate former coup plotters like Buhari from Aso Rock. Dr. Jonathan is financially comfortable, he does not need to loot treasury to afford to train his kids in Nigeria, to feed them with local food and buy his traditional attire. GEJ does not own houses abroad, he doesnt train kids abroad so he has a minimalist lifestyle that doesnt require excessive income.

Learn from me.

The only set of people, from my experience that support the wanton treachery of the APC are the (1) Uneducated (2) Mal-educated (3) The Emotionally Unintelligent (4) The Unrepentant Ignorants and (5) You.

Challenge me on why Buhari is better than Dr. GEJ. Its like comparing a night to day.

Let's tally the truth and facts;

1. Buhari is a coup plotter, GEJ is NOT
2. Buhari is an Islamists sympathizer - His quote; (Muslims should only vote for people that can defend their faith); GEJ built over 50 Almajrir schools to make sure those kids learn the true Islam and not extremism.
3. Buhari defended Boko Haram in 2011 asking that they should be awarded Amnesty; GEJ has been using carrot and stick approach, calling for negotiations and bombing when necessary.
4. Buhari overthrew a democractically elected Government of Shagari but now seeks to be elected by the same Governing principle, GEJ has been a true democrat, humble, simple, humane.
5. Buhari has no single occupation, he lived off Nigeria as an officer, and even at old age, he seeks to keep the CBN as his petty cash vault, GEJ is a well-lettered academia, Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, State Assemblyman, Speaker, Deputy Governor, Governor, Vice President, Acting President, President; He hasnt failed before, he will not start failing now. Buhari is a failure in politics of the ballot.

Above all, Buhari is too old for this Nigeria of today, we need people like Atiku, people like Fashola, people like, my oh my, ....APC is foolish for not fielding these vibrant performers but resorting to a militarily backgrounded oligarch with cold war mentality.

Should I continue ?
Bigots of your nature are not fit to be engaged in a healthy debate. Your antecedents in Nairaland have given you away as someone who will defend GEJ even if he sleeps with your wife. But just one thing, tell your master that his current actions are part of the reasons people of Buhari stock seized government when they did. They will do it again if he continues his current acts of impunity and shameless looting of the treasury.

Almost always, we come across people who cant manage their emotion because they are inadequately trained to understand how to act and react in the face of opposing opinion. Buhari is a politician, I have right to say the things I say about him. Nairaland rules permit that. and its my freedom of speech.

Some of us have actually devoted time and other resources to educate ourselves above the `normal' common-sense approach to life and economics. The normal notion is that inflation is bad, devaluation is wrong, tall is good, short is bad, white is good, black is bad. That's for people like you. Well, I will stop here so I can advise you. Go and read about Quantitative Easing, and use google please. Its a temporal quick fix to guard against unfortituous circumstances in the face of dwindling price of Petroleum Oil/Gas (our main source of income, by default). If we dont ease the economy, we might deplete our external reserve in a short while. That, ofcourse, is economics you will never understand, because you are pre-occupied with Economics of Garri/Groundnut, Eba/Okra soup, Condom/Ashewo. You need to evolve beyond 'I never chop' mentality.

Be guided and Dont be silly.
Unfortunately, the economics stand point from which most of you GEJ supporters reason do not conform with the one you just quoted up there. I addressed you in your own domain. That is voodoo economics. That being said, it's in the midst of the very sound knowledge of monetary policies we have very dubious characters in the financial sector which have landed us in this current mess. It's in the same midst we have all the mess going on in NNPC over how many years. Okonjo Iweala, a world bank trained economist have been running our economy for years yet she couldn't prevent billions of dollars from missing as owned up by her. So take your smooth talk of rocket science economics to market women who you can deceive. Failure is failure no matter how you want to coin it and if you are one of those managing our economy or you found yourself in that corridor you better hide your head in shame. Economics of corruption!

It is impossible to impeach a president in Nigeria. The constitution makes sure of that. The process is just too cumbersome.
Yes, but if they are serious about it for genuine reasons other than selfish interests it unsettles the presidency and makes them sit tight. This happened during OBJ's tenure and there was panic and PDP used all its powers to quench it. If true it's PDP members in the senate initiating it then means they are substantiating the claims of the opposition and confirming to the country GEJ is a monumental failure. PDP do not want that just 2 months to the general election.

So if an APC member accuses President Jonathan of printing PVCs in his home in Otuoke it will automatically be true and make headlines to the extent mods in Nairaland will celebrate it by bringing it to frontpage. What else do we expect from pot-bellied and big-lipped Metuh if not baseless accusations and smile to the bank for his paycheck while their blind supporters here defend them for peanuts? I can bet 70% of that amount is invested in private estates in Lagos, Abuja, Portharcourt etc, service apartments in Dubai, bank accounts all around the world, 3 &4 star hotels all around the country and Africa. And all these across all party lines with PDP having the lion share having been in the centre since 1999 and governing more states. Yet we stay here and continue to insult ourselves on daily basis. America's trillion dollar debt is visible in America and the people will encourage them to borrow more. Can same be said about Nigeria when these debts stroll majestically into politicians and cronies pockets? The answer is an emphatic NO. The day of reckoning is coming.

These attacks on Nigeria creates a false impression of Africa. Nigeria has the worst this in Africa, Nigeria has the worst that in Africa - sure there's an element of inferiority complex playing out in which peoples form other African Nations desperately want to knock Nigeria down (although i personally don't understand the attitude. I like that Egypt, Algeria and South Africa are said to be developed places. I don't like south Africa killing Nigerians but i want them to progress. I love that Ethiopia is rising and so on) also i understand that there's an element in this of Nigerian politics at play here. However, i feel it may be counter productive in the long run painting these false impressions of Africa. For instance, during the Ebola outbreak, many of my English friends thought that Nigeria was going to be the hardest hit because of the recent impression of Nigeria as being the very wort place in Africa. When people from Abroad have visited Nigeria after traveling in Africa they are always amazed by why Nigeria has the reputation it has. They in fact then fail to see the bad things which they aught to see and criticize because their formative impression was so bad in the first place.

It's worth knowing that in many cases Western Media that report on Nigeria have no first hand experience of Nigeria and only get their info from none-Nigerian African colleagues. This unacceptable and lazy journalistic trend include from the BBC .
How has these Lamentations of David changed the subject matter? Have you been to most of these airports mentioned? I have been to 60% of all airports mentioned in that rating from the worst ( Ndjamena) to the best (Charles De Gaule) and the ratings are just on point. Accept the truth and it will set you free. To think that the current administration flaunt these airports as part of the "President Jonathan is doing it" is an insult to this country.
PoliticsRe: Aminu Oguche - Nyanya Bombing Suspect - Freed By Court by philips70(m): 8:00pm On Nov 24, 2014
atlwireles:
(THEWILL) – The suspected mastermind of the April 14 Nyanya bombing in Abuja, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, has won the first round of the case against him.

This is as a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Monday, dismissed the two-count charge filed against him by the Federal Government through the Nigeria Police for “want of diligent prosecution.”

Ogwuche was extradited from Sudan to face trial over his alleged involvement in the April 14 bomb explosion that killed over 75 persons at the Nyanya bus station in Abuja.

The trial of Ogwuche could not however begin because of the rivalry between the Police and the Directorate of State Security (DSS) over which of the two agencies to prosecute the suspect.

At the resumption of the case Monday in Abuja, presiding judge, Justice Ademola Adeniyi, however dismissed the charges against the suspect because of the absence of the Inspector General of the Police and the prosecution counsel.

Ruling on the case at the court, Justice Ademola said: “This criminal charge is hereby struck out for want of diligent prosecution by the complainant, Inspector General of Police and his prosecutor.”

Justice Ademola also granted the oral application sought by Ogwuche’s counsel, Mr. Ahmed Raji (SAN), for family members to have access to the alleged bomber as the court ordered that three lawyers from Ahmed Raji’s chambers and two of Ogwuche’s family members be allowed access to the suspect who is being held by the DSS.

“Three lawyers from the complainant’s counsel as well as the complainant’s wife and another family member be given access to the applicant,” Justice Ademola ruled following the no objection submission by the DSS lawyer, Clifford Osagie and the counsel to the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Mr. Taiwo Abidogun.

He also ordered that Ogwuche be given medical care in the respondent’s custody and referred to the National Hospital, Abuja if need be.

He later adjourned the matter till December 5 for hearing of the originating motion exparte with the DSS now taking full charge of the prosecution.

Ogwuche’s counsel, Raji, in an application for the enforcement of his client’s fundamental human rights, had asked the court to admit Ogwuche to bail, alleging that the AGF and the DSS who are respondents in the matter, were breaching the fundamental rights of the applicant by holding him endlessly against the provision of the law.

Raji had based his argument on the fact that when a suspect is arrested by security agents, (the respondents), the suspect should be charged before a competent court within the time allowed by law and should be allowed access to his family and lawyers.

He argued that the applicant is presumed innocent and that his fundamental right to liberty should not be infringed upon.

In an affidavit in support of the application seen by THEWILL, Ogwuche’s lawyer averred that the suspect was only trying to further his education and did not know anything about the offences preferred against him, pleading with the court to release Ogwuche if nothing was found against him.
