naptu2: Those things usually annoy and irritate me, but there's one incident that I'll never forget.

Someone posted a very long article. Just as I was thinking that someone would quote the entire thing and write "k" I saw two posts. The first poster wrote "One mumu will soon quote the entire post and write rubbish". The second poster quoted him and wrote, "I don't know what's wrong with those people. Someone needs to do something about it". Then a guy comes along, quotes the entire article (the first post) and writes "I am that mumu".

I almost fell off my chair.

In as much as all these things can be very annoying all the time you will agree with me that hidden behind those annoyance is one of the greatest fun on Nairaland. I don't know about most of you but for me these people and the tribal warlords are the reasons my Nairaland time is so fun filled and subsequently my leisure. This does not excuse the childishness of these evolving crew.

Introspective

Sensitive

Reflective

You come to grips more frequently and thoroughly with yourself and your environment than do most people. You detest superficiality; you'd rather be alone than have to suffer through small talk. But your relationships with your friends are highly intensive, which gives you the inner tranquility and harmony that you need in order to feel good. However it is no problem for you to be alone for extended periods of time, without becoming bored.

Sincere 9gerian: Only few weeks ago, you were among those who condemned the attempt by 5 members of Rivers State House of Assembly to take over the leadership of the house. But today, you'r excited about attempts by 7 governors to take over a party with 16 governors. That is the proper definition of HYPOCRISY, a very COMMON ailment in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the renegade PDP members do not qualify to called a faction of PDP. By law, a faction of a political party must emanate from divisions in the National Working Committee of the party. It is not enough for some losers to walk out of a convention ground and make bogus claims.
Eeeyaaahhh I can feel defeat, weakness, humility in your tone. It is well. You don't have a problem my brother. Your garri can still be guaranteed if you know the AGIP parlance very well in Nigeria politics. Ask Ojo Madueke, Tony Anenih etc for modus operandi. Even Dr Reuben Abati can give you some lessons on twisting tongues when garri is involved. We in Nairaland here will give you all our unflinching support just in case you decide to jump ship and resume duties here as voltron-in-chief to the new PDP. It's not easy sha! But please when you come back shed this defeated tone back to that very fiery defence style. You sure earned a lot of bucks with that

mailmalc: @Coogar
no personal ish but Christianity is suffering such ill fate in Nigeria and the world at large because of people like you. You are here screaming Evidence! Evidence!... what you need it for? to defend him more? ... Have you been to the Church before? If PFN knows it's duty, they should be digging by now to find every atom of truth but well, it doesn't involve money or new jets so they'll probably just relax in their mansions and laugh over it.

This is the first time I'm commenting on this issue, the Native doctor pastor is keeping quiet and preparing a 'bogus response' for easily manipulated people like you. I won't even take sides with Ese but trust me when I say I know how these men of God manipulate members by peddling and editing the gospel.

It is even hard for me cos i'm Obliging your posts with such response but my brother YOU NO GET COMMON SENSE?? If Ese brings out hard evidences, I'd completely rebuke her and call it a cheap blackmail. If it isn't for blackmail, I do not see any reason for keeping evidences unless this was all planned. Infact, with concrete evidence I will totally take Pastor Biodun's side and say he must have been seduce for the purpose of wrecking his ministry. This way since I am in Abuja, I might want to join the church and worship with them.

All you see these days are MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKERS AND NATIVE DOCTORS using the bible to extort. We are quick to criticize policemen for their ways when these so called preachers are even more corrupt than our leaders. You need to have an idea of the level of mockery the Church is receiving because of these loosed souls. Until people understand the basic laws of life, they'll keep worshipping their church leaders. It has already been written, give and it shall be given unto you...you do not need anyone to force you or a commandment by way of tithing or a simple trick of sowing a "PAINFUL" seed as these motivational speakers cum pastors will say. They have turned God to a simple money doubler *sad*. God is more than this oooh! God is truly merciful and deserves even more than all the glory. These pastors won't even allow God take the glory, they drag it with him. God asked you to keep silent yet you are preparing a 'bogus' reply, please which God do they mention these days? the one that told a certain pastor he should run for presidency?

Pastors are fast becoming like policemen, when you are getting frustrated in life, go to a bible school and CALL GOD!. A friend once said being a pastor is for lazy people who cannot hustle and have decided to defraud workers in the name of Religion. I have had the opportunity of working close to a number of wealthy Nigerians, they have no single respect for the church as a whole because the heads of churches are steadily bowing to them and worshipping their wealth. Read the bible for yourself, teach yourself, have a clear unbiased understanding and you will be exposed to the truth.

Most of these pastors are excelling because they constantly preach prosperity. These modern churches with alot of youths worshipping there is a simple ish to decipher...of course we want to go to a church where they preach the kind of gospel that suits our social life and yet helps us attain the level of faith that will enable be make much more money to finance an untrue way of living.

FAITH IS ALL WE NEED, SHIKENA!

Please let's save Christianity, it is the only religion we know. We can't fight for God, he is already fighting for himself by exposing such acts, instead people are here fighting against him. Alot of wrongs in the society because of this same religion. If even Pastor Biodun is innocent and vindicates himself, don't you think this whole scrutiny will make other men of God sit tight and come to terms with their calling if at all they have been called?

Thank you.

My brother the percentage of called men of God nowadays is dragging position with the number 1.

me_for_you: Oprah's story rhymed with the salesgirl story. The salesgirl herself said oprah requested for a particular bag high up in d case. And she salesgirl said "no, it's just like this cheap one I'm holding in my hands. And I can also show u some cheap varieties of this cheap one I'm holding, which are not high in cases." Becausue the ones high in cases are more expensive. Cost 35,000 swiss francs to be exact. And this black woman, wearing no armando d'armando shoes and blood-diamond rings don't deserve to see those crocodile bags that cost 35,000 swiss francs.
It happened. All happened.
Oprah just apologised for mentioning swistzerland. And swiss journalsits dug dipper and got d store and got the salesgirl. All unnecersary.
And as the shop owner said " this thing has been blown over 200%"
Why are you lying here mr? I read the sales woman explanation of the whole stuff. Her explanation made a whole lot of sense to those who shop internationally. She did not mention anything cheap as you are carrying about here. These are her words.

Now the saleslady has hit back, speaking anonymously to Sunday newspaper SonntagsBlick, she said ‘I wasn’t sure what I should present to her she came in on the afternoon of Saturday July 20 so I showed her some bags from the Jennifer Aniston collection.
‘I explained to her the bags came in different sizes and materials, like I always do. ‘She looked at a frame behind me. Far above there was the 35,000 Swiss franccrocodile leather bag. ‘I simply told her that it was like the one I held in my hand, only much more expensive, and that I could show her similar bags.
The black bag Oprah wanted to (store owner) ‘It is absolutely not true that I declined to show her the bag on racist grounds. I even asked her if she wanted to look at the bag. ’She looked around the store again but didn’t say anything
else. Then she went with her companion to the lower floor. My colleague saw them to the door. They were not even in the
store for five minutes.’ She emphatically denied ever saying to Winfrey: ‘You don’t want to see this bag. It is too
expensive. You cannot afford it.’ ’This is not true. This is absurd. I would never say something like that to a customer. Really never. Good manners and politeness are the Alpha and the Omega in this business. ‘I don’t know why she is making these accusations. She is so powerful and I am just a shop girl.

‘I didn’t hurt anyone. I don’t know why someone as great as her must cannibalize me on TV. ‘If it had all taken place as she claimed, why has she not complained the next day at the wedding of Tina Turner with Trudie Goetz, my boss? She was there also at the Turner wedding as a guest. I don’t understand it.
‘I spoke to Oprah Winfrey in English. My English is okay but not excellent, unfortunately. ‘I didn’t know who she was
when she came into the store. That wouldn’t have made any difference if I had. ‘We work really hard to greet all the people who come into the store with the same level of respect and treat them all equally. ‘If someone asks me whether he
or she can see an article, I always present these. Because that person is a potential buyer. And my job is to sell it.
‘I’m glad if I can sell an article. It is a reward for me, if I can sell a nice piece. This means that I’m good at my job.’

Anthony Williams Offor might be one of those Chinua Achebe, in his Things Fall Apart, described as men who say ‘yes’ but their Chi (gods) says ‘no’. While rounding off his academic pursuit at University of Lagos, fate dealt a crushing blow on him. He suddenly became deaf. He surmounted the obstacle and still finished his examination with excellent results.
Even though it seems that his dream had been truncated, he is not resting and has taken the bull by the horn to make sure he hears again. His hearing impairment, described by medics as, sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL), equally affected his speech. It is unsettling seeing this man with massive frame trying to force words from his mouth.

Offor, 35, from Anambra State, poignantly told VINCENT KALU his efforts to hear again and how it has been to Lagos State governor, Raji Fashola, who happens to be of the greatest help, whereas, his own state governor, Peter Obi, continued to neglect him.

He, therefore, submitted that Fashola is detribalised and more Igbo than Obi. He also cautioned Igbo not to cast aspersions on Fashola over the said deportation of some.

Excerpts

How did this problem start?

Let me tell you about my self so that you can understand where I’m coming from. I’m from Anambra State and born about 35 years ago. I attended Community Primary School, Nzam in Anambra West L.G.A between 1985 and 1990. Thereafter, I went to Abbot Boys High School, Ihiala; Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha and finally Pens’ Academy, Nkpor, Onitsha, where I wrote JAMB and got admission in 2011 to read political science at University of Lagos. My problem started while writing my final year examination with one paper left.

I was not born deaf. It came suddenly. My problem started in 2004 while I was already in final year in the University of Lagos. I was in the campus one day when I suddenly started feeling feverish. I took it as one of those illnesses, which would come and go but when the condition grew worse, I contacted one of my course mates and we went to UNILAG medical centre.

At the centre, the medical personnel after the normal examination, advised us to go to a private hospital for more effective attention, saying that there were not enough drugs to treat sickness of my nature. We immediately headed to Egbuna-Adazia Hospital, Kagbuyi Street, Surulere.

While on our way, I noticed that anytime my friend spoke to me, his voice always sounded distant as if speaking from behind a wall. And when we got to the hospital, the voices of the doctors and nurses there sounded unusual, an indication that I was having difficulty in learning.

I was subsequently put on drips after some injections and moment later I slept off. By the time I woke up the following day, my hearing problem has developed into a complete hearing loss. This time you could only communicate with me either by gesticulation or by writing.

What happened from there?

My dad thought I would hear again, thinking that my problem was an after-effect of my illness. However, I got fully recovered but my deafness refused to go. The hospital referred me to another hospital, ORL, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital, at Oduduwa Close, Ikate, Surulere.

The doctor, one Dr. Kunle Okupe, told my dad that there was really nothing too unusual about my situation, that some high fever could indeed cause deafness, depending on the condition of one’s eardrums.

The doctor said that I needed a hearing device called cochlear implant, which would cost me a little above one million Naira.

My dad a beer distributor promised to source the money on time and we left. About three weeks later, he died in an auto crash. This tragedy put paid to my hearing remedy. My elder brothers and relations in a bid to give my father a befitting burial, spent all that my father left.

How has life been after graduation?

I have been made to go through excruciating and heart-breaking discrimination and social stigmatisation that persons with hearing handicap are made to go through in our society. The situation is such that an average Nigerian seems to have this feeling that when one loses his or her hearing ability, he or she has also lost intelligence, wisdom and even understanding. It is almost impossible to see government establishment, ministries or parastatals that is willing to absorb someone with hearing impairment. When I wanted to join the Nigerian Customs Service as a graduate recruit in 2010, I was disqualified, for just one thing: My hearing impairment.

Early this year, some of my former course mates learnt of my situation and decided to intervene; they got me registered at the Military Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos. Here after the necessary examinations, the doctors again said the same thing. I need cochlea implant. They said I need to undergo surgery but this time the price has gone up to N2.2 million. The military hospital in January transferred me to B.S.A. Hearing and Speech Centre, Owodunni Street, Ikeja. I have undergone the necessary test preparatory to the surgery but I have not got the money for the needed surgery. I need help. Please, Nigerians, help me. I need the help of everybody concerned so that I can hear again and live a better life. It will be a tragedy if I am allowed to die with my dreams because of this hearing problem. I don’t want to die this way.

Has there been any public support and what are you doing in this direction.?

Offor, presented letter dated May 2, 2011 signed by Clinical audiologist of B.S.A Hearing Consult, Dr Simeon Afolabi.

The letter titled, ‘Re: Treatment of Mr. Anthony W. Offor’ reads in part:

‘Preliminary examination on him showed in the audiogram that he had a blockage of left eardrum caused by a thick blood clot. The right ear, though normal, also needs chemical washing and cleansing. Further medical examination also confirmed the recommendation of the Military Hospital that he required a Cochlea Implant, in this case, the left ear.

‘We succeeded in softening the blood clotted left eardrum but no frequency could be derived and so under such situation, the implant is inevitable to restore his hearing. Normally, an implant into both ears cost N4.4 million, but since the surgery is for only the left ear, we put the figure at N2.2 million in which an initial deposit of N200, 000 has so far been made.

‘We have discontinued further treatment from June after he said he needed some time to source for money. This is our position regarding Mr. Offor.’

Since the doctor said, it was only the left ear that surgery would be carried out at the cost of N2.2 million. Based on this, I wrote to Lagos State governor, Raji Fashola and presented my case. Within a very short time, I got a response, the governor approved the amount for me and a cheque to that effect was issued.

When I went to for the surgery, the team of doctors assembled said both ears would under go surgery and the amount came to N4.4million.

At that point I believed that it wasn’t logical to approach Fashola again. I decided to approach my state governor, Peter Obi.

How did you go to Governor Obi?

The League of Anambra Professionals (LAP), after hearing my story through its secretary general, Emmanuel C. Ileka wrote a letter to Governor Peter Obi telling him of my heart- touching case and the need to come to my assistance. The letter was dated on December 4, 2012 and delivered. On December 31, 2012, I wrote another letter and even attached the one written by Anambra League of Professionals and sent to the governor. The person that signed and received it was one Nworah I. C. Till today, I have not heard from the governor concerning the letters.

So, between Fashola and Obi, who is more Igbo?

Sincere 9gerian: The above was my post last night. It has proved to be very prophetic.

FACTS: President Jonathan does not like frequent changes in govt. He believes in allowing people enough time to achieve results and consolidate.

I also think the practice of sacking a whole cabinet in between tenure is a sign of lack of focus. A focused, purposeful and determined leader is expected to pick the right team from the outset and hit the ground running. While minor changes can be made any time, it doesn't make sense to sack a whole cabinet in-between tenure.

Even in football, there are limits to the changes a team can make during a football match and even all through the competition.

I wouldn't be suprised if SOME of Jonathan's ministers continue working with him till 2019.

Can you all just see a congratulatory message from a party in power to a just registered opposition? Isn't this just absurd? Shouldn't this so called barrister be sued for defamation of character? Party of impunity.

The Peoples Democratic Party has congratulated the leadership of the All Progressive Congress on the successful registration of their new party describing it as healthy development for the nation’s democracy.

The party, in a statement signed by its Acting National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Tony Caesar Okeke however said the registration of the new party poses no threat to the PDP. The statement said the ruling party still maintains its pre-eminent position and enjoys the widest popularity and acceptance among Nigerians across the country.

The PDP said with the registration of the APC, Nigerians now expect the leaders of the opposition party to eschew all forms of bitterness and desperation and desist from politics of propaganda which characterized their former parties.

The PDP urged the APC leaders to focus on issues and engage in more robust debates on the economy and other issues of governance in the general interest of the country.

“The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) congratulates the leadership of the All Progressive Congress on the successful registration of their new party. This is very healthy for our democracy. We hope that from now, the opposition will eschew all forms of bitterness and desperation and desist from politics of propaganda which characterized their former parties.

“We hope to see a vibrant opposition that will constructively engage the PDP on issues of governance in a way that Nigerians will be the utmost beneficiaries instead of overheating the polity by promoting violence and hatred among the people”, the PDP said.

Insisting that the APC poses no threat to it, the PDP said it “will continue to maintain its preeminent position in the polity adding that it remained the party with the widest acceptance and popularity among Nigerians across board”.

The PDP however noted that Nigerians are not deceived by the change of flag by the opposition. It said such does not remove their dictatorial tendencies and penchant for deceit and propaganda for which Nigerians have rejected them irrespective of party name.
Well a party with the likes of Umaru Dikko as reconciliation chairman, Alams, Bode George and Tony Anenih as party leaders anything goes.

Pukkah: I shudder and really feel sorry for this country when I read comments like this.

Just listen to yourself - so people should not complain BECAUSE there are worse people in other political parties? Afterall it's not a political appointment.

Is Nigeria not finished?

Do you think her moniker here is an error? She bears the name of the embodiment of corruption in Nigeria. Do not expect less. Any day she speaks anything less look at your screen, it may be faulty

Desola: ...and i'm meant to believe you on a faceless forum because you're Mahatma Gandhi?

Desola: Can you prove any of your assertions?

I don't believe you. You are Nigerian, aren't you? wink

I do not really need to give proofs here. All I tell you is the skill level of Nigerians have greatly soared over the years. They now work under us the way we were used to only work under them. This is a fact, not a brag. Am typing on top an FPSO offshore Ghana at the moment where am leading a pack of 16 Italians on a project with 2 of my other Nigerian colleagues. Like I told you, this is where I work- a company where a field engineer is a field engineer irrespective of your color. And yes am a full blooded Naija resident in Naija. We all are not happy with the Nigerian situation but I took exception on your speech about our skill level which actually have greatly improved.
