PoliticsRe: £3,000 UK Visa Bond To Start In November by philips70(m): 1:43pm On Jul 29, 2013
Desola: Well, I'm sure that is a negligible price to pay as far as the British government is concerned when cognisance is taken of the number of Nigerians present and willing to enter the UK in sharp comparison to the very few Britons who work in Nigeria.

I wouldn't mind paying such price if I were the uk. Britons in Nigeria majorly highly skilled tax payers whose expertise are highly sought after as opposed to prejoratively low skilled economic migrants who troop into the UK.

The UK wins.

Says an ignorant girl with a very myopic view and knowledge of what the skill level of Nigerians and Britons who work here in Africa at the moment. If you don't know, most foreigners who come here to work at moment come as a result of the expatriate quota in the oil and gas industry. Before you start ranting, I work for the 3rd largest conglomerate on the planet earth with broad interest in almost all spheres in world economy. And am proud to tell you that as we speak I have Britons who work under my supervision from time to time. Am not even in management level but because I work for a company who doesn't care about your colour or where you come from. This is not the past. There are thousands of Nigerians who can hold up to their own anywhere around the world in the Oil and gas industry where these same whites who come here work. Stop talking down on Nigerian professionals. If you don't have information seek for it. Let me not forget to add that I have worked with many Britons and Scots who have got no clue at all. So naive to the point they don't even know where the zee is in a keyboard. Technically, they are just trolling.
Just stop talking down on your people if ever you are one of us.

The points raised by the learned lady are not even the main issue about that facebook write-up posted on twitter by El-Rufai. You guys need to read it and go over all the comments mostly made by Muslims. You will be so shocked the North is filled with many Yerimas. The poor lady got the bashing of her life by thick skinned religious bigots. Mehn, after reading all that I hated the more Sir Fredrick Lord Lugard and all his cohorts. This is obviously a nation of many countries. I do not believe I belong to the same nation with those speakers. No, not at all. I personally place a curse on anyone who covertly or openly go against the division of this so called country. I just urge everyone to read all of that including the comments and you will see that there will never be an end to boko haram insurgency no matter the efforts of the JTF.

scribble: Karen is not well liked and needs to take several seats. She is full of herself and ppl don't think she ought to be so smug. So every chance they get, they relish the ability to put her in her place. She won due to patriotism of Nigerians and not because of any stellar personality traits. She should not talk bad about whhat we all know is wrong with the house. Personally I think any1 that watches BBA has the IQ of a tse-tse fly so she gets what she deserves by being a part of that movement and then talking it down. As for a talkshow for a husband, is that how desperate she really is? Even if that her prize money had not almost finished and she was a billionaire and asked me to marry her, or sign up to a show to contest to marry her, I'd sooner subscribe to vows of chastity than do so. Word to moses!!!

Can we see your handsome self and all your beautiful sisters plus your mother and girlfriend's pictures? No hate please, just a request.

mbulela: Falana Faults NBA's Call for NGF’s Proscription

08 Jul 2013

By Shola Oyeyipo

Constitutional lawyer and human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana, has condemned a call for the proscription of the Nigerian Governors' Forum (NGF) by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr Okey Wali (SAN).

Falana described the proscription call as "liquidationist call" that should not go unchallenged.

The National Executive Committee of the NBA had held its bi-monthly meeting between July 5 and 7 in Yenogoa, the Bayelsa State capital where at the end of the meeting Wali was reported to have called for the proscription of the NGF in view of the controversy which had trailed the outcome of the re-election of Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State as NGF chairman.

Falana noted that: "Wali must have forgotten that his own election was seriously contested by his major opponent, Chief Emeka Ngige (SAN). In spite of the fact that the allegations of malpractice, including the fact that some lawyers who died several years ago voted from the grave! were proved beyond reasonable doubt no one ever suggested that the NBA be proscribed."

While noting that he rejected the insinuation in certain legal circles that the call for the proscription of the NGF was influenced by the fund collected from the government to host the last NBA NEC meeting, he added that:" I deem it pertinent to challenge his reactionary call before it is adopted by the forces of annulment in the country. More so that the call is a sad reminder of the fate that befell some progressive professional bodies and trade unions which were either corruptly taken over or decimated by the Ibrahim Babangida junta.

"It is particularly sad to note that the NBA which used to be the defender of the fundamental rights of the Nigerian people has thrown up leaders who are campaigning for the proscription of friendly societies and clubs. Even if Wali does not like the NGF he is duty bound, as a lawyer, to respect the right of the members to associate without external interference," he said.

“Regrettably, the NBA appears to be encouraging impunity on the part of certain public officers. Otherwise its leadership should have called the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Mbu, to order for banning demonstrations and rallies convened in Rivers State without police permit.

“In the light of the foregoing it is hoped that concerned lawyers will urgently adopt decisive measures to free the NBA from the grip of anti-democratic forces and reposition it to resume its traditional role of defending the rule of law and the expansion of the democratic space in the country.

“Otherwise the NBA will soon lose its relevance in the struggle of the Nigerian people for the transformation of the country from civil rule to democracy under the rule of law. I am however convinced that that will not happen as majority of lawyers do not share the perspective of bar leaders who have contempt for the democratic rights of Nigerians.”

Thank you very much man. I have totally forgotten the call he made in that Bayelsa event. I could remember vividly how I was shocked and wondered from which pedestal he was talking from. Now it's glaring. PDP will destroy every drop of democracy we have in this country before its demise. Just hope they are not the devil's gift to Nigeria sha.

PoliticsRe: Wike & Others Visit Micheal Chinda In London Hospital by philips70(m): 11:51am On Jul 21, 2013
Those visited the injured lawmaker include; Minister of State for Education, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Austin Opara, President of Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Chief Okey Wali (SAN), Former Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, National Treasurer, Mr Kenneth Kobani, Former Transport Minister, Dr Abiye Sekibo, Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah and a former Commissioner in Rivers State, Mr. Bonny Iyaye.

What is that name doing in this visit for Christ sake? Or was there an error of identification maybe should be ex-president? But no, this man is the current NBA president. So NBA is now an arm of a PDP faction? Someone please explain the presence of that man in that delegation. Am confused here

Nwa Teacher: I'm losing interest in nairaland. Nairaland has became partial and political, why Seun? Why is it that anything that is for Soyinka made front page and the one that is against him don't make front page or sometimes been hidden. Example is Soyinka comment on Yarima on underage marriage. Secondly why do nairaland likes making pro-Amaechi news in front page and anti-Amaechi news not. Thirdly why is it that news that relate to APC governors always make front page and PDP one doesn't make. You people should be careful b4 you kill this wonderful and informative social media. Thatz my contribution. Thanks

Carry your bigoted mind leave here. Are you sure you see the front page at all? If you are so pained albeit poor sight go and create a PDPland, Anti-Amaechiland forum where you all will continue to swim and wallow in abject self denial. A forum where you will see 14 years of wasteful leadership as encouragement to urge same on. Mschewwww...you just wake up from bed?

My question is where are the women and child's right group at this ignoble time they are needed? Why this much docility on our land? This goes to tell us that any people protesting for or against Amaechi, GEJ et al are being paid to do so. There are no genuine crusaders around anymore. No bag of rice plus 1000 naira no protest.

Chairman, all these people speaking here do not know what they ever want. They keep saying the worst civilian government is better than the best military government. Says who? Do we have a democracy now? Is this what they call democracy? Do you ever think this democracy will get better than this? My opinion to all these questions is capital no. I quietly pray for the Rawlings solution. If all ignoramuses like let them attack me. I HAVE NO APOLOGY. IF WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW IS WHAT IS CALLED DEMOCRACY I AM FOR A MILITARY GOVERNMENT. Shikena!

take it easy with the spin.
odili wrangled amaechi in as gubernatorial candidate.
obj scattered all odili's setup as he stopped odili's presidential ambitions.
obj then let in omehia as guber candidate but the switch was not properly done and was overturned at the courts.

all this talk of 5 against 22 is misleading.
the rivers assembly men supporting amechi are not even up to 5. his core loyalist is just that Llyod of a killer.
all the other members would go wherever the wind blows
