PoliticsIgbo Quit Notice: Kano Governor, Ganduje Speaks On Fate Of Igbos by philpwresh(op): 8:21am On Jun 29, 2017
Governor Abdullahi Gannduje of Kano State has declared that Igbos residing in the state will not leave.

He made the declaration against the backdrop of the quit notice issued by the Arewa youths asking Igbos to vacate the North by October 1.

The governor said this while addressing reporters at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abuja, on Wednesday.

Ganduje maintained that everybody resident in Kano was an indigene of the state.

He disclosed that his administration had abolished the indigene/settler dichotomy in running the affairs of the state and as such Igbos were free to remain.

Adamawa APC nominates Babachir’s replacement
According to Ganduje, “Nobody gave a quit notice in Kano.

Even when they heard (about it), they (Igbo) said they were not going anywhere and we too told them that they are not going anywhere.

“So, it is an issue that we in Kano, want to show as an example of national integration.

“Therefore, in Kano we are speaking with the people and, in fact, we have even abolished the issue of indigenes versus settlers.

“Everybody in Kano is an indigene of Kano but there are some indigenes of Kano with primordial claim which is a fact.”

Foreign AffairsISIS Butchers Baby, Cooks, Serves As Meat To Starving Mother by philpwresh(op): 5:21pm On Jun 28, 2017
An Iraqi MP, Vian Dakhill has revealed how the deadly terrorist sect, ISIS, killed and cooked a baby of a Yazidi sex slave held captive in a cellar and fed him to his unsuspecting and starving mother.

The Sun UK reports that Dakhill also revealed during TV interview that a ten-year-old girl was raped to death by evil jihadists in front of her father and five sisters.

He said the Jihadists believe they are free to murder, rape and torture Yazidi women because they are considered devil worshippers by many in the Middle East.

The politician made the revelation when he spoke in an interview with Egyptian TV channel Extra News.

He said, “One of the women we managed to retrieve from ISIS said that she was held in a cellar for three days without food or water.

“Afterwards, they brought her a plate of rice and meat, she ate the food because she was very hungry.

“When she was finished they said to her: ‘We cooked your one-year-old son that we took from you, and this is what you just ate’.”

She further told the station about the appalling murder of a little girl, saying “One of the girls said that they took six of her sisters.

“Her younger sister, a ten-year-old girl, was raped to death in front of her father and sisters. She was ten-years-old.

“The question that we ask ourselves is: ‘Why? Why did these savages do this to us?’”

PoliticsDangote Reacts To Quit Notice On Igbos by philpwresh(op): 9:34am On Jun 28, 2017
The Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has reacted to the quit notice issued to Igbos by a coalition of northern youths.

The Arewa groups had asked South-easterners living in the north to vacate before October 1.

Giving his position on the issue which has drawn condemnation from many groups and individuals, the billionaire said joblessness was the reason for the ultimatum.

Dangote said this when a team of business executives from Lagos Business School (LBS), visited his multi-billion dollars refinery and petrochemical projects in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.

“Some guys who have no relevance and values came out to issue a warning that Igbo should leave the North.

‘I am surprised everybody started talking about this nonsense. Why are we talking about it?

“Obviously, in a place where there is a lot of joblessness, it is expected that this kind of jobless people would come out with all sorts of anger.

“We understand the reasons why they are angry, but they cannot justify their action when they have decided not to work.

“They only issue senseless warning to keep themselves relevant,” Nation quoted him.

Africa’s richest man assured that his refinery project, when completed, would create thousands of direct jobs for the youths and millions of indirect jobs in the value chain.

popular prophet in Zimbabwe, Madungwe has shocked the world with revelation of when the world will end.

The prophet also claimed to be God’s special adviser and that he meets with the Almighty on a regular basis to make decisions on how the world should be governed.

Top Zimbabwean newspaper, iHarare, reports that the controversial prophet also told his congregation that he was the number four person in heaven hierarchy after Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

He claimed to be the most righteous person in his country where, according to him, only 60 people will go to heaven.

Prophet Madungwe further told his members that he was with God recently where they had a very long discussion on what will happen to the world.

He said, “He came to me in physical form on April 30, 2017.

“Only 60 people are righteous in this country and among those, only a few of the popular prophets are among the list.

“I cannot reveal the names I came fourth because I performed better than the others. Performance is judged monthly.

“In April, I saw God and he ordained me to be his advisor; He told me when the world will come to an end.

“God told me that if all people repent, the world will come to an end in 300 years but if not, then it will be 100 years.

“I will have a meeting with Him and tell him if people are repenting because he has put me in charge of advising Him on matters concerning the world. This will be in five years.”

EducationTroubled UI Recalls Students As Union Insists On Identity Cards, Other Demands by philpwresh(op): 6:59am On Jun 24, 2017
The authorities of the University of Ibadan on Friday announced July 2 for the re-opening of the institution for normal academic activities.

A Students’ Union leader, however, said the students would resist the resumption unless the issues that led to the closure are resolved.

According to the Director of Public Communications, Olatunji Oladejo, the‎ first semester examinations for the 2016/2017 academic session will start on July 4.

‎The Senate of the University of Ibadan, has decided to recall its undergraduate students, who were asked to vacate the institution ‎on May 29 to resume academic activities, he said in a statement.‎

He said the Senate’s decision taken on Friday followed the consideration of the interim report of an Ad-hoc Committee on the students’ crisis.‎

The students had May 29 staged a protest following a ban on the use of hotplates and other electrical appliances in the halls of residence in the institution.

The students also protested the non-issuance of identity cards to students before the examination.

“The‎ students are expected to arrive on the campus as from Sunday, July 2, 2017,” Mr. Oladejo said.

“By this decision, the 2016/2017 first semester examinations will commence on Tuesday, July 4 in the various faculties of the university.

“All students will be allowed into the examination halls on presentation of their course registration forms on which their passport photographs are affixed.

“Senate notes that the conduct of examination is dictated by senate and not the students’ union executive council as all activities of the university are guided and regulated by the University of Ibadan Act.

“‎An implementation machinery may soon be set up to engage students on the modalities‎ for the use of hotplates and other unauthorized electrical appliances,” the spokesperson said.

In its reaction to the university’s announcement, the Students’ Union said many of the students demands had not been met.

“It will be recalled that the Union has placed certain demands on the desks of the Administration. The demands were; That the school be reopened immediately and that students should be returned to their halls of residence; That the Students Union be reinstated immediately; That hot plates be allowed in the kitchenette because it borders on students survival on campus; and That cases of certain suspended students be reviewed,” the union said in a statement signed by its president, Ojo Aderemi.

“On all of these, we were open to dialogue. We made ourselves available for negotiations but none came. We were respectful and positive in all our media engagements. We were civil with the whole process.”
The union leader, who has since been suspended by the university management, criticised the authority’s handling of the students demands.

“It should be noted that we are not averse to resumption and we would not be pleased to rot at home,” he said. “However, we cannot go home for four weeks and come back without having our demands met. It is unacceptable for students to be on campus without a Union or with some illegal structures that will not protect the democratic rights of students.

Students have clamoured for the issuance of their ID cards which they paid for. The ID cards do not bother on presentation at exam centres alone. It is valuable as an integral part of our lives as students within campus, in town and outside the country.”

Mr. Ojo alleged that the university management planned to divide the students.

“We are aware of the plans to divide us by instigating our final year students against us. We believe that they are not robots. They are intellectuals who have passed through a system. Nigeria is not in need of half-baked graduates who cannot stand on their two feet against injustice and brutal violation of human rights.

“On this basis we, hereby, call for the reinstatement of our Union without which the resolve of students will not be changed. Our Union is our dignity. Survival is a right. Without these, we are not writing any exams. All legitimate mechanisms will be deployed towards actualising our rights and ensuring our demands are met.”

Christianity EtcRe: Must Read: See Shocking Compilation Of Pilgrims Casualties In Hajj Incidents. by philpwresh(op): 8:19pm On Jun 22, 2017
*.July 11, 1991: Nigeria Airways Flight 2120 (operated by Nationair) was a chartered passenger flight from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Sokoto, Nigeria which had an in-flight fire and crashed shortly after takeoff from King Abdulaziz International Airport, killing all 247 Hajj pilgrims and 14 crew members on board the DC-8.

DISEASES INCIDENTS

Mingling of visitors from many countries, some of which have poor health care systems still plagued by preventable infectious diseases, can lead to the spread of epidemics. If an outbreak were to occur on the road to Mecca, pilgrims could exacerbate the problem when they returned home and passed their infection on to others.

This was more of a problem in the past. One such disease, which has prompted response from the Saudi government, is meningitis as it became a primary concern after an international outbreak following the Hajj in 1987. Due to post-Hajj outbreaks globally of certain types of meningitis in previous years, it is now a visa requirement to be immunised with the ACW135Y vaccine before arrival. Every year, the Saudi government publishes a list of required vaccines for pilgrims, which for 2010 also included yellow fever, polio, and influenza.

Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus

As of 9 September 2013, the Saudi government asked "elderly and chronically ill Muslims to avoid the hajj this year" and restricted the numbers of people allowed into the country due to Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus(MERS-CoV).

MOn 1 November 2013, a woman who had recently performed the hajj contracted the disease and is in Spain.

Although MERS-CoV was not detected among pilgrims, this does not rule out risk of the disease at hajj.

The disease, though, is only mildly contagious.

Historical outbreaks

In 1905 the El Torstrain of cholera was discovered in six pilgrims returning from hajj at the El-Tor quarantine camp in Egypt.

Main article: 2006 Mecca hostel collapse
A concrete multi-story building located in Mecca close to the Grand Mosque collapsed on January 5, 2006. The building, the Al-Ghaza Hotel, is said to have housed a restaurant, a convenience store, and a hotel.

The hotel was reported to have been housing pilgrims to the 2006 Hajj. It is not clear how many pilgrims were in the hotel at the time of the collapse.

As of the latest reports, the death toll was 76 and the number of injured was 64.

2015 crane collapse

MECCA CRANE COLLAPSE

A crane fell in the grand mosque on September 11, 2015, ten days before Hajj. 118 people died and 394 were injured.

OTHER FATAL EVENTS

Of the millions of pilgrims each year, many are elderly, and some die of their illnesses, exacerbated in some cases by the heat and exertion.

*.Before the beginning of the first day of the December 2006 Hajj, 243 pilgrims had died, according to a statement by the Saudi government.

The majority of deaths were reportedly related to heart problems, exhaustion in the elderly and people with weak health, caused by the heat and tiring physical work involved in the pilgrimage. After the conclusion of the Hajj, the Nigerian government reported that 33 nationals had died mostly "as a result of hypertension, diabetes and heart attack", not because of any epidemic illnesses.

They deny accusations made that some Nigerian pilgrims died in an accident on a road to Mina.

Egypt's official news agency has reported that by December 30 (10 Dhu al-Hijjah), 22 Egyptian pilgrims had died.

Four elderly Filipino pilgrims in their 50s died during the pilgrimage of illnesses or other 'natural causes', and were buried in Mecca.

The Pakistani Hajj Medical Commission has announced that approximately 130 Pakistani pilgrims died during the Hajj season in Saudi Arabia, "mostly aged and victims of pneumonia and heart patients", and that 66 pilgrims were admitted to Saudi hospitals for similar ailments.

*.In early December 2006, a coach carrying pilgrims from holy sites in Medinato Mecca crashed 55 miles north of the port of Rabegh near Jeddah, killing 3 Britons and injuring 34 others, including two children.

*.In November 2011, thirteen Afghans died and a dozen others were wounded as a result of illness and traffic accidents.

There have been incidents during the Hajj',the Muslim pilgrimage to the city of Mecca, that have caused the loss of a life. Every follower of Islam is required to visit Mecca during the Hajj at least once in his or her lifetime, if able to do so; the pilgrimage is one of the Five Pillars of Islam

At densities above 6 or 7 persons per square meter, individuals cannot move, groups are swept along in waves, individuals jostle to find breath and to avoid falling and being trampled, and hundreds of deaths can occur as a result.

The stoning of the devil(ramī aj-jamarāt) ceremony is particularly crowded and dangerous. Pilgrims ritualistically throw pebbles at three walls (formerly pillars) which represent the three places where the devil tempted Abraham. It is one of a series of ritual acts that must be performed in the Hajj.

STAMPEDE INCIDENTS

Some notable incidents include:
*. July 2, 1990: A stampede inside a pedestrian tunnel (Al-Ma'aisim tunnel) leading out from Mecca towards Mina and the Plains of Arafatled to the deaths of 1,426 pilgrims, many of them of Malaysian, Indonesian and Pakistani origin.

*. May 23, 1994: A stampede killed at least 270 pilgrims at the stoning of the Devil ritual.

*. April 9, 1998: at least 118 pilgrims were trampled to death and 180 injured in an incident on Jamaraat Bridge.

*. March 5, 2001: 35 pilgrims were trampled to death in a stampede during the stoning of the Devil ritual.

*.February 11, 2003: The stoning of the Devil ritual claimed 14 pilgrims' lives.

*. February 1, 2004: 251 pilgrims were killed and another 244 injured in a stampede during the stoning ritual in Mina.

*.January 22, 2005: A stampede through the stoning ritual in Mina led to the killing of three pilgrims

*. January 12, 2006: A stampede during the stoning of the Devil on the last day of the Hajj in Mina killed at least 346 pilgrims and injured at least 289 more.

The incident occurred shortly after 13:00 local time, when a busload of travelers arrived together at the eastern access ramps to the Jamaraat Bridge. This caused pilgrims to trip, rapidly resulting in a lethal stampede. An estimated two million people were performing the ritual at the time.

*. September 24, 2015: At least 2,236 pilgrims were killed during a stampede.

The Saudi governmentis yet to release an official report. A few weeks after the incident, the Saudi Vice Minister of Health officially announced 4,173 people dead in this incident in a press release, however, this page was removed from the website within three hours and requesting it would redirect the visitor to the home page.

The Saudi Health Minister claimed that the published death toll was false in a Twitter post.Fars News, a semi-official news agency of Iran, provided a walkthrough video to accessing the page assuming it was out of reach due to high page requests.
An AP report compiled from official reports and statements totaled the deaths at at least 1,470, over 700 more than the figures from Saudi authorities, and the worst toll so far in Mecca. The AP later updated its estimate to 2,411 pilgrims killed.

FIRE INCIDENTS

*.December 1975: An exploding gas cylinder caused a fire in a tent colony and resulted in the deaths of 200 pilgrims.

*. April 15, 1997: 343 pilgrims were killed and 1,500 injured in a tent fire. The tents are now fireproof.

*.November 1, 2011: Two pilgrims, a wife and husband, died in a coach fire. There were two coaches in the convoy, and a person in the second coach noticed smoke billowing from the coach in front.

He radioed the driver to stop. Everybody evacuated the coach, and as the last two were getting out, the coach suffered three explosions.

PROTEST AND VIOLENCE

*.July 31, 1987: A clash between Iranian demonstrators and Saudi security forces brought death to more than 400 pilgrims and injury to thousands more.

*.July 9, 1989: Two bombs exploded, killing one pilgrim and wounding another 16.

AIRPLANE CRASHES

*.January 22, 1973: A Royal Jordanian Boeing 707 crashed at Kano, Nigeria, killing 176 Hajj pilgrims returning from Mecca.

*.December 4, 1974: Martinair Flight 138 crashed near Colombo, Sri Lanka, killing all 191 people aboard – 182 Indonesian hajj pilgrims bound for Mecca, and 9 crew members.

*.November 15, 1978: Icelandic Airlines Loftleiðir HF Flight LL 001 crashed at Colombo, Sri Lanka, killing 170 (mostly Indonesian) Muslim pilgrims returning from the Hajj.

*.November 26, 1979: Pakistan International Airlines Flight 740had an in-flight fire and crashed after takeoff from the old Jeddah International Airport on 26 November 1979 killing all 156 on board the Boeing 707.

*.August 19, 1980: Saudia Flight 163 had a cargo compartment fire shortly after take-off from Riyadh airport. All 287 passengers and 14 crew on board the Lockheed L-1011-200 TriStar, registration HZ-AHK, died after the aircraft made an emergency landing.

Following the incident, youths of Ukpenu community embarked on a protest, venting their anger on Hausa commercial motorcyclists, leading to one of the motorcycles being set ablaze.

There was tension in the university town of Ekpoma in Esan West Local Council of Edo State yesterday following the gruesome murder of a woman by suspected herdsmen.

The victim, a grandmother identified as Mrs. Margaret Udiamehi, was allegedly raped and beheaded while working at her farm in Ukpenu community.

Her throat was said to have been slit and dumped in a separate place from the headless body. The body was said to have been found by a team mobilised to search the bush when she did not return home at the end of the day on Tuesday.

Following the incident, youths of Ukpenu community embarked on a protest, venting their anger on Hausa commercial motorcyclists, leading to one of the motorcycles being set ablaze.

The protesters also took their protest to the palace of the Onojie of Ekpoma, Anthony Ehizojie Abumere II, where he addressed the women. They were also at the headquarters of Ekpoma Police Division where they were addressed by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO).

Christianity EtcSaudi Yet To Compensate Pilgrims’ Families In 2015 Stampede by philpwresh(op): 5:56am On Jun 22, 2017
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has disclosed that Saudi Arabia has not compensated the pilgrims who died in a stampede in 2015

The commission’s Secretary, Abdullahi M. Muhammad disclosed this in Abuja yesterday.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has disclosed that Saudi Arabia has not compensated the pilgrims who died in a stampede in 2015. The commission’s Secretary, Abdullahi M. Muhammad disclosed this in Abuja yesterday.

He said it was unfortunate that despite several appeals, the Saudi authorities were yet to pay the families of the 317 Nigerians involved in the tragedy. He explained that the corpses of five of the victims were yet to be identified, as the DNA test results taken to Saudi Arabia did not match any of the bodies.

“The commission is however not resting in its effort to ensure that the families of the victims were adequately compensated,” he said. Muhammad further disclosed that the commission had resolved to establish a DNA bank for Nigerian pilgrims before embarking on Hajj exercise.

He said this would enable it to easily identify and trace pilgrims in the event of death or absence of any form of identity. The secretary added that the commission has improved on Hajj operations, especially in the areas of medication, pilgrims’ airlift and the reduction on time spent at camps while waiting to be airlifted.
Also improved on is the conveyance of all pilgrims’ luggage and time spent at Jeddah Airport, which has been reduced from days to hours. He stressed that the standard of pilgrims’ accommodation, both in Mina and Arafat has been upgraded to be at par with other countries.
According to him, N1.75 billion was refunded in 2016 to the Pilgrims Boards in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as refunds to the pilgrims.

Meanwhile, the head of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and IDPs (NCFRMI), Sadiya Umar Farouq yesterday faulted the allegation that she sold the Dates that the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia donated to the commission.

A statement by the commission in Abuja, said traditional rulers were used in distributing the products to the needy across the country, which include victims of cattle rustling and armed banditry in Zamfara State.

“By this notice, they are advised to check their e-mail and profile for the schedule of their examination or visit the board’s website for their status,’’ Mr. Benjamin said.

According to him, candidates will soon be requested to print their e-slip for details such as date, venue and time of the examination.

The board noted that candidates, who are not listed for the supplementary, would not be communicated with; while those, whose results are withheld, would reflect in their profiles, which have been updated.

The board also advised rescheduled candidates to comport themselves and be of good behaviour to avoid the circumstance that earlier necessitated the cancellation of their previous examination.

“Many of the candidates rescheduled for this examination enjoy this privilege because of the board’s principles of equality and inclusiveness.

“It is better to let 100 offenders go free than to punish one innocent person.
“The board will enhance its monitoring of the examination as it would not compromise its sanctity.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that 1.7 million candidates registered for the 2017 UTME in 633 centres across the country.

The examination was conducted from May 13 to May 20 but the board cancelled the results of more than 50,000 candidates.

It also delisted 48 Computer Based Testing centres over what was described as huge and organised malpractices.

Politics2019:15 Political Parties Float Coalition by philpwresh(op): 6:38am On Jun 21, 2017
The Coalition of Political Parties (COPP) has launched what they called a mega coalition to adopt and field candidates for governorship and presidential elections in in 2019.

National chairman of National Unity Party (NUP), Chief Perry Opara, who doubles as the Chancellor of the mega coalition said 15 parties are involved in the coalition.

He listed some of the parties to include Allied Congress Partyof Nigeria (ACPN), Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), Better Nigeria Peoples Party (BNPP), Democratic Peoples Congress (DPC) and Democratic Alternative (DA).

Opara said, “We shall test the might of the Mega Coalition in the Anambra, Ekiti and Osun States elections before the 2019 general elections. Future elections in Nigeria will no longer be about political parties or Godfatherism. It will be about the personality of the candidates and the issues being canvassed”.

He, however, clarified that the alliance is not a merger but an electoral alliance for participating registered political parties who are free to field separate candidates for councillorship, local government chairmanship, House of Assembly, House of Representatives and senatorial candidates of their party.
Explaining further, Opara said, “It shall collaborate at the gubernatorial and presidential elections.

At the governorship elections, the winning party shall form a government of state unity (GSU) while at the Presidential election the winning party shall form a government of national unity (NUG), with a view to accommodating participating parties in the coalition, thereby reducing winner takes all syndrome which does not allow smaller political parties to grow in Nigeria”.

He added that the coalition is in response to the high divisiveness in Nigeria and lack of credible opposition party in Nigeria since after the 2015 general election.

He opined that in the forthcoming 2019 general election, no one simple party can win at first ballot, noting that “it will be difficult to meet the constitutional two third states requirements.

“The only way to success in 2019 is for like minded political parties to come together to select credible, capable and popular candidates who can win elections”, he added

Opara condemned the level of division in Nigeria and urged politicians and members of the non-governmental, faith based and socio-cultural organizations to be careful with their utterance and to preach peace, instead of hate and division.

The Mega Coalition urged Nigerian politicians who have something to hide to desist from parading themselves for elective offices, while encouraging credible men and women who are courageous to start now to educate the masses on their blueprint for elections.

Opara said that no party shall be excluded from participating in the mega coalition, noting that only good candidates who have a good agenda, that can provide dividends of democracy will be voted by Nigerians.

“2019 election shall have emphasis on candidates and personalities rather than parties. Nigerians are now aware that most politicians promise heaven on earth when they are seeking public office only to renege on their campaign promises when they are elected. Nigerians are now aware and know better”, he said.

Christianity EtcJesus Whatsapped Me Not To Go And Save Capt. Maxwell - Ghanaian Pastor Obinim by philpwresh(op): 2:55pm On Jun 05, 2017
Ghanaian pastor and founder of International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has told his congregants that he saw and tried to stop the lynching of Ghanaian soldier, Captain Maxwell Mahama but his Father, Jesus Christ sent him a whatsApp message telling him to allow the soldier die.

Obinim, said he made attempts to use his angelic powers to fly to help Captain Obinim, however, just when he was about to fly, Jesus Christ, told him not to go. He told media giants, Nsroma Media, that

“Captain Mahama’s time was due and Jesus needed him by his side in heaven,” adding that “the villagers who lynched him will know no peace till they die.”

Obinim claims he chats privately with Jesus on a hotline and in some cases, whatsapp. Recall that a military officer with the 5th Infantry Battalion (5BN) at Burma Camp in Accra but on detachment duties at Denkyira Boase in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central region was last week, lynched by residents on suspicion of being an armed robber.

Late Captain Mahama, who was a leader of the platoon detailed to a mining company at Denkyira-Obuasi, was about to be promoted to a ‘Major’ after he successfully sat his examinations a few weeks ago, according to Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul.
Mahama was on Monday morning seen jogging along the main road and as he stopped by to ask some women for directions, but they saw a pistol on him and mistook him for a robber. He was consequently lynched by youths and women of the area.

Some persons have already been arrested, including the woman who set his body ablaze.

PoliticsFG Laments Increase In Homosexuality, Saggy Trousers & Wearing Of Dreadlocks by philpwresh(op): 2:42pm On Jun 05, 2017
The Federal Government says social values have been eroded, adding that Nigerian youths have embraced same sex marriage.

The government said some youths had even staged a protest before the National Assembly for the repeal of the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act which prescribes a 14-year jail term for anyone who enters into a gay marriage.

The Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Dr. Garba Abari, said this during a programme titled, ‘Anti-Corruption: The Role of Media as Change Agents’ in Abuja on Saturday.

The programme was organised by the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria. The NOA boss also urged youths to stop wearing dreadlocks and saggy trousers. He said,

“The wearing of tattoos, dreadlocks, sagging trousers and the painting of hair have become a vogue among our young men and women.
Our youths are now publicly clamouring for the legalisation of gay marriage and are about to boldly take the campaign to the hallowed chambers of the National Assembly to press for it as a fundamental human right.”

Crime20-year-old Man Kidnaps Father, Collects N1m Ransom. by philpwresh(op): 6:53pm On Jun 04, 2017
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old Ibrahim Babatunde for masterminding the abduction of his father.

Babatunde reportedly connived with three other accomplices to perpetrate the act.
Other members of the kidnap gang were identified as Babuga Salihu, 20, Aura Sands, 20 and Amuda Yusufu, 19.

The state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude, said Aliyu Babatunde was abducted in Igboora and spent three days in the den of his abductors.

He added that he was released after the family paid N1 m ransom.

The 20-year-old said he was lured into kidnapping after his father turned a blind eye to the welfare of his children.

“My father married many wives and he doesn’t care for us. We are left to fend for ourselves.

“So, I think the only way to get money out of him is to organise his abduction and force him to part with the money. We collected N1m as ransom from our family”, he confessed

While revealing how the crime was planned and executed, Babatunde said he invited his friends after he was sure that the plan would succeed.

Odude said, “The victim was eventually taken to an unknown place where he was kept for some days by his abductors who later demanded ransom as a condition for his release. Initial arrest of one of the suspects by combined efforts of the local vigilante group, the police and further discreet investigation carried out by operatives of the Special Squad led to subsequent arrest of the kingpin and other members of the gang at their various hideouts in the state.”

CelebritiesI Am Homeless, can't Afford Food To Eat –legendary Boxer’s Son, Muhammad Ali Jnr by philpwresh(op): 6:28pm On Jun 04, 2017
Muhammad Ali Jnr, the only biological son of late legendary boxer – Muhammad Ali, has said he is facing hunger and homelessness barely a year after his father’s death.

He told Daily Mirror that other family members denied him an equal share of his late father’s £62million fortune.

Ali Jnr, who is 45-years old, said he has only received three “measly payments” of £2,000 in the last two months and is sleeping on a friend’s floor in Florida, just days away from living on the streets because he cannot afford to pay any rent.

He said an equal slice of the inheritance had been agreed at a meeting in California with his seven sisters, adopted brother Asaad, and the will executor – Ali’s 59-years-old fourth wife of 30 years, Lonnie. But that was not the case during execution.

He said he had been begging other family members for help.
According to him, for the last 20 years, he has been ostracised by the family, having little contact with his famous father.

He lived on Chicago’s notorious gangland south side with his wife Shaakira and daughters Ameera and Shakera, struggling to make ends meet cleaning people’s yards and doing odd jobs.

But his marriage fell apart just a month after his famous father died, amid accusations that he ran out on his wife. He insists she dumped him and forced him out of their marital home.

After attending a family meeting over the will last July, Ali Jnr says he got a phone call from Shaakira saying she had moved in with her parents because the water and electricity had been cut off.

He said he then made his way to Miami and stayed with his mother, Ali’s first wife, Khalilah, 66. But for now he is sleeping on a friend’s floor in Fort Lauderdale.

He said: “It looks like I’ve just been cut off completely. I don’t have a bank account, so they’ve had to wire money to me.

“It’s been a rough year. This isn’t what my dad would have wanted. He would have wanted me to be OK, have a place to stay, have my money.

“I’m going to live off water now, as that’s all I can afford. Getting food is hard, as I don’t have a cent to my name.

“I just find a way somehow to get food each day. I’ve got nowhere I call home any more.

“I stayed with the marriage to see if things can work out, but I had 11 years of complete unhappiness.

“I love my daughters and I would do anything in the world to be with them. You can ask anybody that know me and they would tell you Muhammad is the kindest, sweetest man they have ever known.”
