Brimmie: This is not applicable to every part of the country.Mind you, that part of the country Chibok is situated is under state of emergency, while Lagos is not. |
In his today's sermon, the man of God TB JOSHUA castigated some Nigerians for taking it as a hobby in portraying Nigeria in a bad light in any given opportunity but fail woefully in showing good side of Nigeria. He reminded them that the country they're desperate to destroy does not belong to Jonathan. He said that those causing the problems in the country is not up to 100. He reminded the congregation of his last year prophecy where he said that Boko Haram will be tired of killing the masses hence the need to face their weapons at the men that matters, since the killing of the poor is not bringing results. He said that Chibok controversy will fizzle away, Nigeria remains strong. He wondered the possibility of transporting over 200 people, no distress call, no security alert, no road block etc. He said that there is up to three checking points from his church to his prayer ground which is a five minutes drive. He said Nigeria will come out the troubles and emerge as a truly giant nation. He capped it up by saying that the solution of the crisis is not by changing government. He called for stoppage of any campaign until the meeting of political class to solve the security crisis first. |
In other words, Ngige is indirectly indicting Tinubu and Fashola for multiple toll gates in Lagos. |

SATAN of Sokoto , Please shut up your mouth. When your boys was bombing Christians and Southern target areas like churches and motor parks. Instead of criticising them, you advise them not to kill Muslims. Now that you have realised that you may be the next target hence the change of talk |
Sultan of Sokoto and president-general, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar (III) has declared that life is sacred, thus anybody who bombs himself thinking he will go to heaven is delusional. The Sultan, who said this yesterday when he hosted security chiefs during the breaking of the Ramadan fast in his palace in Sokoto, further explained: “For us, one single life lost means a lot to us because life is sacred. You cannot love God if you do not love your neighbour and if weall agree that you cannot love God if you do not love your neighbour, then why are we having all these problems?” the Sultan asked. While adding that the dreaded Boko Haram has now become a franchise used by many to commit series of crimes, the Sultan warned that any attempt to politicise the insecurity that is confronting Nigeria will not bring solutions. His words: “When we politicise the security issue, there can never be a solution to it. We should not narrow it down to an ethnic or religious thing. Let us stop pointing accusing fingers and vieweing terrorism as Hausa or Fulani issue. We must all join hands to fight insecurity because by the time you feel relaxed and say they should continue to kill themselves, by the time they finished killing themselves they will now get back to you. Therefore, let us collectively fight insecurity. “Though, we might not know those behind this insecurity, but we should take our hands up to Almighty Allah to expose those doing these killings. We must also not pray and go to sleep. Let us continue to be proactive. Let us continue to work harder and sensitise our people on security matters.”On how best to address the insurgents, the Sultan said, “Don’t call Boko Haram ‘Islamic militants’. A criminal is a criminal. Do not link him with his religion. The people doing this insecurity are very small compared to the millions of Muslims that are not in any way connected to insurgency.”Insisting that unhealthy rivalry among security agencies is also another major setback towards tackling the situation, the Sultan advised that the situation where security agencies hide information from each other should be discontinued. http://leadership.ng/news/379021/cant-bomb-way-paradise-sultan |

This is war against majority of Nigerians. APC thinks that their refusal to participate In the conference is enough ground to rubbish it. Thank God their worthlessness is already known to Nigerians. |
Rejecting confab reports is like rejecting peaceful, progressive, prosperous NEW NIGERIA. With this, APC has written their epitaph. So, major decisions like additional state for South East, state police, recourse control, true federalism have to go up the flame because of a blood thirsty CULT called APC? No way. |
“So, what are those new issues in the conference recommendations that we have not done as a constitutionally recognised law-makingbody?” Saturday PUNCH recalls that the House earlier rejected some of the controversial recommendations of the conference when passing the constitutional amendment bill in February. The House rejected rotational presidency, state police and state creation. It also retained the local government system in the constitution by granting full financial autonomy to the councils. One senior member from the South-East, who did not want to be quoted, told Saturday PUNCH that nothing was “sacrosanct, either in what the House already passed or the constitution as we have it now.“They are all subject to amendments.”However, the member noted that lawmakers from the zone would not vote differently on any issue from the position of their delegates to the conference, “should the need arise.”In view of the disagreement between PDP and APC over the report of the Confab, indications had emerged that the debate on the report by the lawmakers would be stormy when the document is submitted to them. http://www.punchng.com/news/apc-vows-to-reject-confab-outcome/ |
The All Progressives Congress has vowed to reject the outcome of the National Conference likely to be submitted to the National Assembly by President Goodluck Jonathan. The APC did not send any representative to the National Conference, which it described as a jamboree. APC members in the National Assembly, who spoke with Saturday PUNCH in Abuja, vehemently spoke against the Confab while insisting that the expected report meant nothing to them. The Chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Senator Robert Boroffice, (APC, Ondo North), in an interview with Saturday PUNCH,said whether any northern group called for the rejection of the conference report or not, his party had taken a decision to oppose its outcome. He said, “Our position as the APC Caucus in the Senate is not different from that of our party. The President just handpicked his canvassers and organised a jamboree national conference for them. The whole exercise is a waste of money. “There are past reports that can be put together which had addressed all the issues affecting the country. We don’t need a conference to tackle corruption, insurgency and poverty, among others.“Personally, some of the recommendations of the conference arecapable of dividing this country; there are obvious cleavages in their recommendations that are pointing to that fact, especially the issue of resource control.”The Senate Minority Leader, Senator George Akume, (APC, Benue North West), said his party was opposed to theNational Conference because it was considered a jamboree. He particularly faulted the recommendation of the conference, which seeks to make legislative duties part-time. Akume stated, “I do not believe their recommendation on the issue of part-time legislature because it is the answer to executive impunity.”The Senate Minority Leader described legislature as a full-time job. According to him, the recommendation for part-time legislature in Nigeria will not see the light of the day. He said, “Such a misplaced recommendation is unacceptable to majority of Nigerians and in particular, serving legislators in the country.”But the APC members in the House of Representatives differed from their colleagues in the Senate. The APC Caucus at the House took a slightly different position from the APC members in the Senate. The House caucus said it would treat the conference report from the “point of national interest.”The leader of the caucus, who is also the Minority Leader of the House, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, toldSaturday PUNCH that rather than reject the report outright, members would look at the issues and vote on the side of Nigerians. Gbajabiamila also advised against pre-empting the “final report” of the conference. He said, “I am not aware that any group is mounting pressure on members to take the report in a particular way.“Let us not pre-empt the conference; when they send the report to the National Assembly, I believe the proper thing to do is to follow the wishes of Nigerians.”The APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said it was best to wait and see what happens when the report gets to the National Assembly. Asked whether the party would encourage its lawmakers to shoot down the report, he simply said “Let us wait and see.”However, an informed party source whopleaded for anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the issue, said “Why are we bothering ourselves over this matter? The National Conference was in total disarray. What was the consensus among them? You tell me.“The issue has gone beyond political party affiliation; it’s now the north versus the south. What played out at that conference is that the South has its agenda, and the North has its agenda that was why they could not agree on resource control, state creation and several other issues. These issues will play out. ”The National Conference, which went onrecess on July 14, will reconvene on August 4 for final consideration of its resolutions. Before it rose on July 14, the conference adopted 19 out of its 20 committees’ reports. It could not, however, agree on the issues of derivation and revenue sharing. The members adopted recommendations on rotational presidency and state police among other issues. However, the PDP lawmakers, who spoke withSaturday PUNCH,said that they would not reject the report. Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, (PDP, Cross River Central), said the report would not come directly from the National Conference delegates, but from the President. He said that the call for the rejection of the report does not arise because it is a document that only the President would determine what to do with it.Ndoma-Egba stated, “The National Conference is a body set up by the President, so its report will go to the President and he will do with the report as he pleases.”On his own part, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business, Senator Ita Enang, (PDP, Akwa Ibom North East), said the conference report would be submitted to the President. He, however, said the Senate could not reject any communication from the President in case he decided to forward it to the National Assembly. He said, “We are not opposed to the President setting up a National Conference. As a matter of fact, the Senate approved the budget for the activities of the conference. We cannot talk now on their report until the President requests that the National Assembly should take action on some oftheir recommendations.”Faulting the call for the rejection of the report, the Vice-Chairman, Senate Committee on National Planning, Economic Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, said there was no basis for the call. Lanlehin, (Accord Party member representing Oyo South), said the report would be exhaustively considered after its submission. He said, “Whenever the report is submitted by the President either as a private bill or executive bill, Senate will consider it holistically.“We will consider all the resolutions and recommendations; look at them thoroughly and carry out all necessary legislative actions on it as may be requested by the President. “There is no way we will throw away the report if it is presented to us procedurally. It will undergo normal legislative actions. The PDP members of the House of Representatives hold the view that they would be guided by merit in treating the report. House Deputy Majority Leader, Mr. Leo Ogor, said, “The report will be taken as a new proposal from the President whenever it comes and treated on merit.“The report will be looked at holistically and objectively.“There is no law that says we must accept everything hook, line and sinker.”Ogor, a South-South lawmaker from Delta State, noted that some of the issues discussed at the conference required constitutional amendment for their implementations. He explained that lawmakers would normally look at the report item-by-itemand treat them based on their merit. To a PDP member from North-East, Ibrahim El-Sudi, the response of lawmakers would be determined by how the report would be presented to them. El-Sudi, a former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Taraba State, said if the report came as an executive bill, it would certainly undergo the process of passing a bill in the legislature. He said, “If it comes as a mere document to be endorsed by the National Assembly for implementation, that is where there will be problems.“If it comes as a bill, it means it will be dissected by members and passed on merit.”But El-Sudi also told Saturday PUNCH Hthat since “over 80 per cent” of the recommendations of the conference were matters already decided by the House, it was not likely that members would reverse themselves. He recalled that the National Assembly had earlier opposed the conference on the grounds that it was an attempt to usurp the powers of the legislature. El-Sudi added, “The House and the Senate are already amending the constitution (1999). He said, “Over 80 per cent of what the conference deliberated upon have been passed by the House.“We are waiting for harmonisation with the Senate so that we can forward it to the state Houses of Assembly. |

From: Aretaofeeq Posted: 3 years ago HOME > NEWS Atiku Talks Tough, Warns of ‘Violent Change’ 15 December 2010 Former Vice-President and presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has warned the Federal Government over the 2011 poll, saying “those who make peaceful change impossible, make violent change inevitable”. He charged PDP to reform itself or become irrelevant in the scheme of things. Former Senate President Ken Nnamani also said the three zones of Northern Nigeria hold the key to determining who will become the presidential candidate of PDP in the April 2011 election. The duo spoke at the National Stakeholder Conference organised by the Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF), Igbo Political Forum, South-south Unity Forum and the Yoruba Redemption Group. Asked to give his remarks at the conference, Atiku, the consensus candidate of the NPLF, who was one of the last persons to speak, said he had two messages. The first, he said, was that: “If the PDP refuses to reform itself, it stands the chance of becoming irreverent.” According to him, the second message was for those in the executive arm of government and quoting Frantz Fanon, he said: “Those who make peaceful change impossible, make violent change inevitable.” Addressing the gathering as a special guest, Nnamani said the three Northern geo-political zones alone had the capacity to determine who becomes the presidential candidate of PDP by the numerical strength of its delegates. The former Senate president said: “From the statistics of the delegates to the National Convention of the PDP, the 19 Northern states have a total capacity of 61 per cent of the delegates and the rest three geo- political zones have 39 per cent of the delegates.” He explained that it was to ensure that every part of the country participate in the leadership of the country that zoning was introduced to accommodate all shades of opinion in the country. Nnamani, who described those opposed to zoning as opportunists and accidents of history, explained that zoning is not peculiar to Nigeria alone, as it is the common thing in other parts of the world with multi-ethnic groups like Nigeria. For instance, he said that zoning and rotation is what makes the political history of Switzerland to be stable, stating that with a French population of 65 per cent and Italians and Swiss ethnic groups of merely five per cent, the country had remained one of the most politically stable in the world with no armed forces of its own. The former Senate president also said the United Nations and the European Union (EU) still practise zoning and rotation of offices, adding that if not for zoning and rotation, there is no way a Kofi Annan and Ban Ki-moon could become secretary-general of the body when there is United States of America. In his speech, Chairman of the occasion, General Ibrahim Babangida, repeated his earlier warning that jettisoning zoning would spell doom for PDP. He said: “Jettisoning this arrangement, regardless of the excuse that is being bandied around, endangers not only the prospects of orderly transition in the country, but also its progress towards evolving into a single individual nation.” He said at the formative stage of PDP, it had in mind a party like a tent that would house all diverse sections, groups and interests in the country. “Any attempt to disrupt this arrangement therefore portends ominous prospects to the electoral fortunes of the party, but more seriously endangers political transition in the nation,” he said. Other speakers at the occasion, which included Chief Peter Biakpara from the South-south Unity Forum; former Minister of Integration, Dr. Abimbola Ogunkelu; and Chief Simon Okeke of the Igbo Political Forum spoke in support of zoning, describing it as the pillar behind the unity of Nigeria as a nation. Biakpara said: “Allowing President Jonathan to contest the presidential primary of PDP has great consequences for the unity of Nigeria.” He called on PDP to set up a special committee to take a decision on zoning, while describing the position of PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) to recognize zoning on one hand and at the same time said that President Goodluck Jonathan could contest as a travesty of justice. The former chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) and Chairman of Igbo Political Forum, Okeke, said that zoning must be respected, as without it, “Nigeria cannot go to sleep”. Ogunkelu commended the Ciroma- led Consensus committee for leading the North out of the woods by choosing a consensus presidential aspirant, stating that by that singular effort, it had reinforced zoning in Nigeria, which he said must be respected for the overall interest of the country. Former Senate President, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, who spoke on behalf of the North, said it was not the intention of the three zones of the North to dominate the political leadership of Nigeria, which is why it is insisting on zoning. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/atiku-talks-tough-warns-of-violent-change-/71993/ |
