Boko Haram can only be compared with WILD WILD WEST. . |
Igboezue, an Igbo socio-political organisation, has faulted a recent statement attributed to Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, that the Boko Haram insurgency is worse than Biafra-Nigeria civil war.Soyinka had on Thursday stated that the ongoing activities of the Boko sect were worse than the civil war, noting that the development has made Nigeria’s breakup difficult. In a controversial interview with Reuters, Soyinka said, “The bloodshed is now worse than during the 1967-1970 Biafra war, when a secessionist attempt by the Eastern Igbo people nearly tore Nigeria up into ethnic regions.Reacting to the statement on Saturday, the group’s National President, Chekwas Okorie, described Soyinka’s comment as an “assault and shocking”.The group said, though Soyinka’s statement, which was broadcast on Reuters and also published in most Nigerian newspapers, was advisory on the need to preserve the unity of Nigeria, it was at the same time insulting to sensibilities of the Igbo nation.Okorie, who also described the statement as “unguarded, insensitive, reckless, irresponsible and reprehensible, however stated that someone like Soyinka, who played a historical role in that war up to the level of being suspected by the federal military government at the time of collaborating with the then Biafra leader, late General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu for the injustices and massacre of the Igbo, should not be the one to make such a statement.“We have never been confronted with butchery on this scale, even during the civil war. There were atrocities (during Biafra), but we never had such a near predictable level of carnage and this is what is horrifying.”The Igboezue leader also said that to correct part of the deliberate alleged “misrepresentation” as he claimed contained in Soyinka’s statement, the group “wishes to state that the mandate given to Gen. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu to declare the Independent State of Biafra was given to him by the then Eastern Nigeria Consultative Assembly and a large part of Mid Western Region in the present South-East and South-South geopolitical zones of Nigeria.” http://dailypost.ng/2014/07/06/igbo-group-lambasts-soyinka-comparing-boko-harams-insurgency-civil-war/ |
Do you see the party posing a real threat to PDP in 2015?.......... "No!. no! no.! It is not possible because APC is not built on a sold foundation that those who initiated the plan thought it should be built . There is a lot of sectional consideration, individualism in the party. One of the biggest problems of APC is that those at the helm of affairs are not used to running a national party. Most of them are people who ran sectional parties, those parties were owned by them. You cannot run a national party with the tactics and strategy they used in running their sectional parties .I also made it known that the biggest problem APC would have is the governors that they were wooing .They were wooing governors and at the sane time chasing away some solid members of the party . Today you will see that the party will sweat to stop the governors from hijacking it. There is nothing bad in wooing an incumbent governor because he has reach ,facilities available to him, but you can woo him at the expense of those already in the party . These are some of the problems the party has." ACHIKE UDENWA. |
. "I don’t care much about what APC is doing because I am no longer a member of theparty. But I knew fully well that APC was not for the South East .by the time we were getting together, we thought we were building a national party where everybody would be accommodated . The way things were going it was obvious , clear, that the South East cannot fare well in the party. That was part of the reason I left . I don’t know what is happening there today.I don’t care much about APC. I have friends in the party, but I don’t go asking questions about happenings in their party, because I have left there." ACHIKE UDENWA. |
. http://sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=70809 Former governor of Imostate Chief Achike Udenwa is a delegate to the on-going National Conference. In this chat he x-rays some happenings in the country, especially the insecurity and preparations for the 2015 general elections. He blames the Federal Government for allowing insurgency to fester before tackling it,but predicted that the problem would be nipped in the bud. He also speaks on challenges facing All Progressives Congress(APC), accusing the party of giving governors attention at the expense of other members . |
Howmanage: if what i read here are true sentiments on the ground, then collectively Yorubas are ingrates who are being gleefully escorted by other Nigerians on a march to extinction.Yorubas are only being sophisticated, they are not fools. |
Did I mention Lagos State? I said APC's rule in Ogun & Osun between 2011 till now. Last Bullet And come to think of it, can you compare APC's rule in Lagos for 15 years to other PDP states?
PDP had been ruling Enugu, Akwa Ibom and cross rivers states since 1999, they've been doing better than Lagos. |
If APC failed with only water. PDP failed with everything. The issue here is one party has ruled for 15 years with little development while another party ruled in a state for 3 years & did wonders. Take Osun State & Ogun State for example. See their development rate btw 2011 & now. The records are there. Most PDP states governors v the highest corruption cases. PDP should be ashamed that they v Alameisegha, Gbenga Daniel, James Ibori etc. They recked their states. I m not an APC devout! But what's happening from GEJ downward is shocking!
Why didn't you add Ekiti State as one of the states APC did wonders. HYPOCRITE. |
caseless: I'm cretinous imp! |
I think APC is still a little bit fair on Nigerians than PDP. Just talking from what I saw in the South West. Last Bullet Tinubu has his flaws. But PDP & their hyenas are animalistic with their in human acts of mis-ruling Nigeria since 1999.
The Saintly APC has been ruling Lagos since 1999, yet it can not provide drinking water for the people. SHAME. |
caseless: What a gagarntuan piece from an intelectually rich nigerian!!Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla, we are used to the ranting of APC e-goats, so come on with what is left of you people after aerial bombardment from the "CLUELESS" President. |
. Less than a week after he joined the ongoing National Conference after his legal victory, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh said Saturday in Enugu that the resolutions of the conference would set the stage for a New Nigeria. He also expressed optimism that the resolutions at the ongoing national conference would form part of Nigeria's constitution.Umeh who spoke to newsmen particularly expressed happiness for the resolution of the conference to create one additional state in the South East.According to him, with the calibre of Nigerians at the conference and unanimity in passage of resolutions, the outcome of the conference must surely be integrated into the constitution through either a referendum or Acts of the National Assembly.Details to follow http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/confab-resolutions-will-set-stage-for-new-nigeria-says-umeh/182738/ |
egift: Na today. Chief Tom Ikimi, like any other Nigerian is free to make that choice. APC thank him for his efforts towards the party and the Nation, and wish him well he decide to move on. But the quest redeem Nigeria from the claws of the killer party will not end. God bless Nigeria.Well rehearsed old songs. One by one, APC will become empty. |

. Soon afterthe conclusion of All Progresives Congress (APC) convention, there was a rumour the Igueben-born Chief Tom Ikimi was considering dumping the APC for his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).As the rumour rages, the Edo State chairman of PDP, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, has said that the prominent politician “will be welcomed back to the PDP if he desires to return, especially now that Edo people are eager to effect a change in the governmentof the state by voting out APC and voting in PDP.“At a time like this, all hands mustbe on deck and we’re prepared to accommodate all those who’re genuinely concerned about the poor state of affairs as per the governance of the state today. I can assure you that if he decides to join us, the Igueben people willbe very happy; the Esan people will be happy and the Edo people will be happy.” he said during an interview with our reporter. However, the state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Comrade Godwin Erhahon, while reacting said Chief Ikimi’s planned defection from the APC back to the PDP would not effect on the electoral fortunes of the two political parties.“The first thing is to examine the justification for his leaving (the APC). If he is leaving because of the convention, he has said that he never even submitted his nomination form. He obtained nomination form; he didn’t fill it and never returned it, which means at that congress he was nota candidate. So, what would be the justification for his leaving? Was he waiting to be endorsed first as a candidate before filling his form or was he waiting to be elected first?“It’s easy for somebody to just come out and engage in cheap blackmail as you’re seeing in Edo State now. He said in his letter that he bought N250,000 form. Hedidn’t fill it neither did he returned it. So, on what basis is hegoing to complain about the outcome of the convention in which he did not file nomination?”“APC will want you to ask Chief if actually he wants to leave whether his leaving will not affect his own fortune? Right from his days in the ACN, it is only in elections where Oshiomhole contested as a candidate that he was able to win his ward and localgovernment. As we speak, the member of the House of Assemblyfrom his constituency is of the PDP.It is certain that he has been riding on the popularity of Oshiomhole, you now ask yourself, if he now leaves APC howwill he be relevant in the system? Even if PDP wins his area, they have been winning it since he wasnot with them; so of what value will he be to them?“I’ll advise him not to go and rubbish whatever is left of his reputation or political career. In the APC, there was a lot of consideration. First, our national leadership said anybody who has had a stint with the PDP should not be made our number one citizen. That disqualified him. Chief Oyegun has been on the side of the progressives since he entered politics. Right from the onset, our prayer has been that anybody who is not sincerely with us, God should get such person out. I pray that Chief Tom Ikimi does not become one of them.“If anybody is a hustler hopping from one party to another, so be it. But I believe that Ikimi, at this age, should be above that. I just pray for Chief Ikimi that God should lead him to whatever direction. If he chooses to go under (Chief Tony) Anenih again, Iwish him well. One thing that I can assure him is that there is nowhere else that he can be the Lord as he was in the APC. Wherever he goes his status will drop although they may pretend to be honouring him as a responsible leader.” http://dailyindependentnig.com/2014/07/waiting-receive-ikimi-pdp/ |
. Former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi has expressed happiness over the decision of the National Confabto grant additional state to the South- East.He described it as a decision that would address the injustice in leaving the South-East with one State less than other zones in the country.Recalling all the efforts the people of the South-East had made in that regard, he thanked the South-East delegates for pulling it through and encouraged them to seek more issues that would benefit the people.[Ad]m.godlife.com/JesusAnswering questions from Journalists at the burial of LadyPrisca Obiamalu at Nnewichi, Friday, Obi said he had followed closely the decisions of the conference since it started. He thanked God for granting President Goodluck the wisdomto convene the conference. He said the Conference was gradually settling many contentious issues in the country.Commenting on the security challenges facing the country, Obi said he was gladdened by how seriously the President was facing it and expressed strong optimism that the country would come out of it strengthened and more at peace with one another. While condoling the family of the deceased, Obi reminded them that their mother’s death called for celebration, because she lived a fulfilled and enabling life. http://dailypost.ng/2014/07/05/obi-hails-national-conference-recommendation-additional-state-south-east/ |
VICTORCIZA: it's obvious you sold your shame!!!Berem is suffering from after effects of "hurricane Ekiti". Don't expect her to think straight yet. |
It's unfortunate Apc is going down the drain so fast, just the way they came. In reality, I do not hate APC, all I hate is their deceit and wickedness. For democracy to survive in Nigeria, a sound opposition party is needed, unfortunately, APC do not fit into that. |
phlemzy: They are assembled in Nigeria.Shaaarraaaaap, all material used in making Indomie are all imported yet it is not referred to assembled but made in Nigeria. |
A Lagos-based lawyer and activist, Mr. Fred Agbaje, has said that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is no longer relevant in the South-West politics.http://www.punchng.com/news/tinubu-no-longer-relevant-in-south-west-agbaje/ |
berem: Declare Okorocha's seat vacant? That's laughable and impossible! If anyone's seat has to be declared vacant,it should be the presidential seat in Aso Rock.Sorry for you in advance. |
waternogetenemy: Anioma has oil like Anambra that was neglected by the Federal Government. omg! Ndiigbo have suffered.I'm in support of creation of Anioma state, but will they merge it with the South East? If not, the original purpose of making states in South East at per with other regions will be defeated. |
rati ken: They called him clueless. |
rati ken: They called him clueless. This is hurricane Jonathan, blowing gently and dangerously. APC will never survive it. |
A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday fixed October 8 for hearing in the suit filed by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) asking it to declare the seat of the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, vacant for decamping from the party on which platform he was elected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).This is as the issue of counsel representing the governor was resolved following the withdrawal of Sunday Olabode who had been at loggerheads with Adeniyi Akintola (SAN) on who should represent Okorocha. The development had at the last adjourned date, prompted the court to summon Okorocha and the state’s Attorney-General, Chukwuma-machukwu Ume (SAN),to appear before it to clarify who was briefed to represent the governor. It would be recalled that APGA had through its counsel, Victor Odjemu, instituted the suit wherein it is praying the court for an order directing the deputy governor of Imo State or Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly or any officer next in line to the position of the governor of Imo, who is a memberof the plaintiff (APGA) to be sworn-in as the governor of Imo State. http://dailyindependentnig.com/2014/07/court-fixes-oct-8-hearing-apgas-suit-okorocha/ |
Acidosis: Yes my friend. Its called Population density. Would you say because Lagos is over-populated, they deserve new states?Meaning what? |
rozayx5: wow nice, seun or mods can you put this on frontpagenice. |
fkaz: If you talk of population, hmm. |
berem: Na today? Jonathan does not have the complete balls to make Nyako be impeached. Lai lai!Oga eme gi n'anya vuumm. Honey, I'm quoting you for posterity sake. |
Acidosis: North Central needs more states. Kogi state specifically; On travelling by road from Egbe in Kogi state to Ayangba in the same Kogi state, travellers spend over 7hours by road (without traffic jam)!!!So land mass instead of population is now the criteria for state creation? |
This is "RICEocracy". Government of rice givers, for rice eaters, by rice eaters. |
