Modric will captain Croatia in the nation’s historic first ever World Cup Final against France where he will be organising Croatia’s midfield, but 28 years ago organising goats on Velebit mountain was his biggest task. Pavle Balenovic captured Modric whilst filming a wildlife documentary but only recently realised that the boy in his video was the Real Madrid superstar. https://extraloops.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/lucas.jpg “The Modric family, they used to be quite decent, nice people. I visited them whenever I went filming the wildlife in the mountains. So I took the shots of my friend and his son collecting their herd of goats, closing the pen and some scenes directed as It was planned for editing a wolf documentary. It was back in 1990 just a while before the war destroyed their home. The war changed everything and I haven’t seen anymore. They moved away. Then just a few years ago I got some information on who the small boy collecting his father’s herd in my episode is. That boy became a famous Croatian soccer player – Luka Modric,” Pavle writes. https://extraloops.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/lm1.jpg “He hasn’t seen these shots (taken back in 1989-1990) because this is the first time they are published. After the war, a lot of mines were left what destroyed the image of whole the mountain area. Today the area changed even more. The construction of the new highway lasted a few years what ruined the peace the local wildlife needed to live in,” he said. About 20 graduands (2015/2016 academic session) of the university of Jos (UNIJOS) from the Faculty of Law, 2015/2016 session have been mistakenly awarded First Class degrees by the management of the university. It was gathered that the error was discovered after the management asked the graduands to log on to the convocation ceremony web portal to confirm their details ahead of the convocation ceremony scheduled to hold on June 23rd, 2018. Some of the graduands from the Faculty of Law logged on to the portal only to discover that they have been awarded a higher class of degree. UNIJOS Mistakenly Awards First Class Degrees To Graduands Many of the affected graduands who commented on the issue stated that they were suprised to see such an error as every one that graduated in 2015/2016 academic session already know the grade they graduated with and it was only one student named Olusegun Pelumi Adewunmi that emerged with first Class. When contacted over the issue, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Clement Dakkas described it as “strange.” “Matters of this nature are addressed by the Registrar, but my recollection is that you know in the entire history of the university, we have produced only three First Class in Law. The first in 1980, the second in 1990 – and incidentally I was the second in 1990 – and then one young man, I think, a year ago. “So to have more than one clearly there must be an error somewhere.” He said. Also, Ishaya Tanko, a professor and the university’s Director of ICT, said he was unaware of the development. “What I’m going to do is I’m going to report now, I’ll take that up and get the appropriate authorities to confirm.” https://extraloops.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/lKceyd9TG2PTkkVrd7fEtMFj0coXwtAGw2kAE7Ox.jpeg https://extraloops.com/education/unijos-mistakenly-awards-first-class-degrees-graduands/ cc:lalasticlala; |

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo admits he wants “payback” for Argentina’s World Cup final agony four years ago. The 26-year-old Marcos Rojo went all the way with his country in Brazil, only to lose 1-0 to Germany in the 2014 final, with Mario Gotze scoring the only goal of a tight game in extra-time. As the only Red representing Jorge Sampaoli’s team following Sergio Romero’s withdrawal due to a knee injury, the centre-back has pledged that he and his fellow countrymen will give everything to go one better this time around and repeat the nation’s successes in 1978 and 1986. “We give everything when we are wearing it and we want payback for the way things happened at the last World Cup. We will do everything to give our fans the possibility to celebrate winning the trophy again.” he told manutd press. Argentina have a final warm-up fixture against Israel on Saturday before the action gets under way in Russia. The Albiceleste are in Group D and will fancy their chances in the tournament, despite struggling to actually clinch a spot, before Lionel Messi bagged a hat-trick against Ecuador in the final South American qualifier. “It’s Nigeria again!” Rojo added. “I think it’s three or four times now we’ve been drawn with the super eagles of Nigeria and it will be a difficult group. Croatia and Iceland are in there too. Hopefully, Lionel Messi will be in form and can do something for us.” https://extraloops.com/sports/rojo-admits-super-eagles-tough-opponent/

Masked operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) stormed the premises of the National Assembly yesterday, causing tension among lawmakers, journalists and other workers. There was a standing directive barring security men from entering the NASS premises with arms. They were to dump their arms and ammunition in the armory of the complex. But armed with Tavor assault rifles, the DSS operatives took up positions in parts of the building housing the two legislative chambers. The scenario came barely two weeks after armed persons invaded the Senate chamber, overpowered security operatives, and fled with the mace. Explaining the latest development a top security officer at the National Assembly told The Guardian: “There are issues within the security circles that you cannot understand. And because of the sensitivity of such, they cannot be divulged to the general public for now.” Some of the masked men stood in front of the entrance to the Senate chamber, others at the route leading to the office of the Senate president, and at the entrance to the White House. Armed men had, on April 18, forced their way into the Senate hall as Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (APC, Delta Central) showed up for the first time after his suspension. He had insisted that his sanction was illegal, and has not been seen at the complex since. The embattled lawmaker received the backing of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami, who faulted the suspension. The Senate, however, insisted its action was in order and irreversible. Meanwhile, the upper legislative chamber yesterday resolved to petition the Presidency over failure by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to honor its invitations. The Senate had sought answers on alleged inhuman treatment meted out to Senator Dino Melaye and killings across the country. The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Joshak Habila, waited at the office of the Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang, to represent his boss. Lawmakers, however, refused him entry into the chamber, insisting Idris must appear in person. The Chairman, Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Abu Ibrahim, disclosed he made several attempts to reach the IGP to no avail. Senate President Bukola Saraki, therefore, mandated the Senate Majority Leader, Ahmad Lawan, and Ibrahim to engage with the Executive on the matter and report back within one week. The development could escalate the rift between Saraki and President Muhammadu Buhari. The IGP had, last week, asked Habila to represent him at the Senate, while he accompanied Buhari to Bauchi State on a two-day official visit. Saraki urged the Senate to approach the matter with maturity and statesmanship. He insisted the IGP’s conduct “cannot be right.” According to him, “We are not a Senate in committee; we are a Senate in plenary. Our constitutional powers require the IG to come and give a report on an incident involving a colleague, and more importantly, on the incessant killings in the country. And he felt he would not come but wants to delegate a junior to come to appear before us.” He warned that the action could “endanger our democracy”, stressing Idris is “doing this not to us only, because the president told him to go to Benue and he refused. And he’s still there.” He told the senators: “Let us approach this in two ways. One way, give him another period of time for him to reflect on the enormity of the action. Because whatever happens today, this sets a precedent for the future. And as such, it is important that we do not allow issues like this. We must ensure that the right thing is done. Give him time to ensure that he is well guided.” He added: “There is great disrespect to the institution. But let the (Senate Majority) Leader and the Chairman of Police Affairs (Abu Ibrahim) engage with the Executive and state our position on this. There are powers we can exercise, which are not in the interest of us making progress in this country. This year alone, over 500 people have been killed. And if we believe that a man who is in charge of enforcing law and order should not sit down and engage with us that have the powers to represent the people, then there’s something wrong somewhere. “I will like us to hold our comments until then. And I’m pretty confident that the right thing and sanity will prevail. This is a country that will lead as an example to other countries. I don’t think we want to go so low by this kind of action.” Earlier, Deputy Senate Majority Leader, Bala Ibn N’Allah, suggested a delegation led by Saraki should visit Buhari to register the Senate’s displeasure. https://extraloops.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nigerian-Police-Masked.jpg https://extraloops.com/international-news/masked-dss-operatives-storm-national-assembly/ cc:mynd44 |
A man in England has been banned from driving after he switched his Tesla vehicle to autopilot and moved to the passenger seat. Bhavesh Patel was on the busy M1 highway in his Tesla S 60 when a passenger in a nearby vehicle was shocked to find there was no one in the driver’s seat of his car, according to a police report from the Hertfordshire Constabulary. Patel, 39, had shifted his Tesla to autopilot mode, leaving the steering wheel and foot controls unmanned before moving to the passenger seat, authorities said. On April 20, Patel pleaded guilty to dangerous driving during the May 2017 incident. Not only is he disqualified from driving for 18 months, but Patel is also required to complete 100 hours of community service over a 10-day period and pay prosecution costs. Neil Godwin/T3 Magazine via Getty Images Authorities were first notified of the incident after the witness uploaded a video of Patel in the passenger seat to social media. A notice of intended prosecution was sent to Patel shortly after. It was estimated that Patel’s Tesla was traveling at approximately 40 mph in heavy traffic, according to the police report. When Stevenage police questioned Patel, he admitted his actions were “silly” but argued that the Tesla was capable of something “amazing” and called himself the “unlucky one who got caught,” authorities said. “What Patel did was grossly irresponsible and could have easily ended in tragedy. He not only endangered his own life but the lives of other innocent people using the motorway on that day,” investigating officer PC Kirk Caldicutt said in a statement. “This case should serve as an example to all drivers who have access to autopilot controls and have thought about attempting something similar. I want to stress that they are in no way a substitute for a competent motorist in the driving seat who can react appropriately to the road ahead,” Caldicutt added. “I hope Patel uses his disqualification period to reflect on why he chose to make such a reckless decision on that day.” https://extraloops.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/78805a221a988e79ef3f42d7c5bfd418.jpg https://extraloops.com/uncategorized/tesla-driver-banned-road-switching-autopilot-moving-passenger-seat/ |
