Politics / No Amount Of Blackmail Can Stop My Son In-law From Becoming Imo Governor-Rochas by phoenix45(m): 5:50am On Mar 05, 2018
Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has declared that no amount of blackmail would stop his son in-law, Uche Nwosu, from becoming the state governor. His Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, stated this in a statement yesterday.Okorocah absolved Nwosu of sending loyalists to attack the Archbishop of Owerri, Dr. Anthony J.V. Obinna.

While describing him as a ‘child of destiny’, he said no man could change the will of God in making Nwosu to replace him in 2019.The governor made the declaration in reaction to the social media alleging that Nwosu’s loyalist attacked the archbishop. He said the alleged “beating, lynching, attacking or harassing” of the cleric was being investigated.

The governor’s reads: ‘”We have as usual, read in the social media several versions of the purported beating of the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri Diocese, Bishop Anthony Obinna.

“He was allegedly beaten up by hoodlums or thugs or Entraco officials on the fictitious order of Nwosu, who is the Chief of Staff at the Government House.“Those behind this latest blackmail said the incident happened at a burial Church Service in Mgboma, Obube community, in Ngor-Okpala Local Council Area.”

According to the governor, the endorsement of his son-in-law as a favoured aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) was flying in 24 of the 27 local councils in the state.Okorocha said Imo people, including youths; students, men and women have thrown their unalloyed support behind the youthful Chief of Staff, Nwosu for the 2019 governorship in the state.

“Seeing Nwosu as the guy to beat in the 2019 election, they now think that there is no other way to stop him rather than through unwarranted blackmail.“That is the reason such a quintessential gentleman, and an embodiment of decency should be associated with whatever that transpired at the event in question.

“For weeks now, they have flooded the social media with one ugly story or another, against the young man. But to the Imo people, such elements are wasting their time. They do not know that when God has said yes to any project, nobody can say no,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Archbishop has debunked the rumours that he was beaten by a group loyal to the Chief of Staff. He told The Guardian in a telephone conversation on Saturday evening that he was neither beaten, nor manhandled by any person.

The allegation reported in the online blogs; Facebook and other social media platforms.Obinna maintained that though he was against any form of what looked like undemocratic rule in the state and the country at large, he was not touched by anyone. He said: “Please, tell the people the truth. Nothing like that happened. No body beat me. But I saw them at the burial at Alex Mbata. I greeted them and left.”

In a related development, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. Francis Chukwuemeka Ezeonu, disclosed at the weekend, that over 370, 000 Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) are yet to be collected in the state.

Ezeonu disclosed that the state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would recruit 20, 000 ad hoc workers for the 2019 general elections. He said the personnel would serve in the 305 wards across the 27 local council areas. He said he was currently on tour of the 27 local council areas to sensitise the electorate on diverse issues relating to the election.

The REC added that the commission was compiling the list of the unclaimed PVCs to determine the living and the dead people on the list of unclaimed PVCs.Ezeonu disclosed that the state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would recruit 20, 000 ad hoc workers

Politics / Hate Speech Offenders To Die By Hanging In Senate’s New Bill by phoenix45(m): 6:39am On Mar 01, 2018
Any person found guilty of any form of hate speech that results in the death of another person shall die by hanging upon conviction, reads a new bill by the Senate. The bill, which reflects the growing concern over the spate of violence in the nation, was sponsored by the spokesman of the upper chamber, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi (APC, Niger).

It also seeks the establishment of an ‘Independent National Commission for Hate Speeches’, which shall enforce hate speech laws across the country, ensure the elimination of the menace and advise the Federal Government. For offences such as harassment on the grounds of ethnicity or racial contempt, a culprit shall be sentenced to “not less than a five-year jail term or a fine of not less than N10 million or both.”

The bill notes: “A person who uses, publishes, presents, produces, plays, provides, distributes and/or directs the performance of any material, written and/or visual, which is threatening, abusive or insulting or involves the use of threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, commits an offence, if such person intends thereby to stir up ethnic hatred, or having regard to all the circumstances, ethnic hatred is likely to be stirred up against any person or person from such an ethnic group in Nigeria.”

It notes that “a person subjects another to harassment on the basis of ethnicity for the purposes of this section where, on ethnic grounds, he unjustifiably engages in a conduct which has the purpose or effect of (a) violating that other person’s dignity or (b) creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment for the person subjected to the harassment.

“Conduct shall be regarded as having the effect specified in subsection (1) (a) or (b) of this section if, having regard to all the circumstances, including in particular the perception of that other person, it should reasonably be considered as having that effect.”The National Commission for Hate Speeches shall be headed by an executive chairperson who would be appointed by the president on recommendation of the National Council of State, subject to the confirmation of at least two-third majority of the National Assembly.

The commission shall discourage persons, institutions, political parties and associations from advocating or promoting discrimination or discriminatory practices through the use of hate speeches; promote tolerance, understanding and acceptance of diversity in all aspects of national life and encourage full participation by all ethnic communities in the social, economic, cultural and political life of other communities. It shall also plan, supervise, coordinate and promote educational and training programmes to create public awareness, support and advancement of peace and harmony among ethnic communities and racial groups.

It shall furthermore promote respect for religiouss, cultural, linguistic and other forms of diversity in a plural society; promote equal access by persons of all ethnic communities and racial groups to public or other services and facilities provided by the government.

The Senate also disclosed that its bid to pass the 2018 budget was being frustrated by ministers and heads of parastatals who have refused to provide details on allocations to their ministries.Without mentioning names, the upper chamber issued a fresh seven working-day ultimatum to the affected ministries.

Similar ultimatums in the past had done little to facilitate the budget preparation. The Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Sunny Ogbuoji, said: ” The majority of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies are not coming forward to interface with the standing committees. Some of the ministers will tell you they are going outside the country, and because of that, the MDAs are not fully ready.”

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, stressed that the upper chamber wants the process concluded as early as possible, regretting: “The perception is that it is the parliament that delays these things.”He said: “The Senate Majority Leader will communicate and get in touch with the executive arm of government, so that these MDAs can be told to play their part to ensure that this exercise can be completed.

“I appeal to all these ministers and managing directors that keep on travelling that this is a time for them to be on ground and ensure that they finish this report.”The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, said it was unfair for the heads of parastatals to “hold the country down.” He noted: “It has come to a stage where we have to consider taking what has already been presented by the president from those MDAs as the position of the MDAs, instead of waiting for them for ever.

“We gave them an opportunity about three weeks ago to make this a priority but it seems that has not happened. So, instead of the country suffering, it is better to give them just few more days. And after that, the relevant committees will adopt what was sent to us by the president as the positions of the MDAs. We cannot continue to be running the country like this.”

The Senate furthermore faulted the assumption of office by the newly nominated acting Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Anthony Okechukwu Ojukwu, ahead of a confirmation. It also mandated its committee on judiciary to investigate the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, for directing Ojukwu to do so.

The upper chamber reached the resolutions following a motion by Senator Dino Melaye who noted: “If the attorney general, who is supposed to be the custodian of our laws, will flagrantly ask an individual who has been nominated by Mr. President but has not been confirmed by the Senate to go and assume duty, and the person has since resumed, then we are not practising democracy. We have no regard for the rule of law.”

Politics / Jude Chukwu Replaces Sani Usman As Army Spokesman (Photos) by phoenix45(m): 3:36pm On Feb 26, 2018
Brig.-Gen. Jude Chukwu on Monday assumed duty as the new Director of Army Public Relations.

Chukwu takes over from Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, who proceeds for a course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPS), Kuru, near Jos.

Sports / Cristiano Ronaldo Brace Saw Him Move On To 300 Laliga Goals by phoenix45(m): 8:01am On Feb 25, 2018
Real Madrid show no signs of letting up, continuing their fine run by thrashing Alavés at the Bernabéu to pick up their fifth win in a row.
The first goal took a while to arrive despite the hosts creating several good opportunities to take the lead. The first chance came with just 9 minutes gone, but Cristiano Ronaldo's effort struck Dani Torres and flew behind for a corner. Nine minutes later and the Whites crafted a superb chance to open the scoring, but Benzema shot wide when one-on-one with Pacheco, following a rapid counter-attack led by Kovacic.

The chances were coming thick and fast for the hosts, Benzema receiving the ball out wide on 25, fooling the defender with a lovely step-over and whipping in a measured cross with his left boot. Bale was the target, but his sublime overhead kick flew inches wide of the post. Ten minutes later and it was Lucas Vázquez's turn to try his luck from the edge of the box, but Pacheco got down smartly to keep his effort out. Alavés had some success on the counter though, and Pedreza forced Keylor Navas into a fine stop with a driven effort on 37'.

Cristiano Ronaldo's first Chance
Just as the teams looked set to head into the break on level terms, Cristiano Ronaldo popped up to extend his fantastic goal-scoring run. The ball fell to Benzema inside the area on 43 minutes, and he poked a clever back-heeled assist to the Portuguese ace, who made no mistake with his left-footed strike. Today's brace means the forward has now found the net 12 times in his last seven games. Real Madrid took to the dressing room at half-time a goal to the good.

Making the breakthrough right on the stroke of half-time gave the hosts a boost and certainly had the desired effect, with Madrid's second coming just after the restart. Alavés got the half underway and immediately after the kick-off, Benzema dispossessed Alexis and slipped the ball to Bale, who made no mistake with the finish. That was the French hitman's second assist of the afternoon and he himself was on target in the 51st minute, only to see his effort wrongly ruled out for offside.

Cristiano hits 300th league goal
Real Madrid were in full flow and they were enjoying their best spell of the game. The hosts came close to adding to their lead on 54' when Bale's strike from the edge of the area crashed against the crossbar. However, just seven minutes later, the third of the afternoon did materialise. Lucas Vázquez this time claimed the assist and Cristiano Ronaldo swept the ball home from the penalty spot to bag a brace and his 300th league goal in a Madrid shirt.

The Lucky German Shepherd’s Dog Nova is the belle of the ball, she even has the gown to match.

According to KTRK, the German Shepherd’s owner, Jackie Pizano, threw a quinceañera, a party often thrown for a girl’s 15th birthday, for her very good pooch when Nova surpassed 15 in dogs years, which is about 7.5 years old.

The celebration also lined up with Nova’s recent success at her obedience training program, she earned the Einstein Award at K-9 University.

Pizano spared no expense when it came to throwing a quinceañera for her talented pup. Nova was treated to her own pink dress, tiara, cake and a special dance.

A lucky attendee at the soiree captured video of the special moment where Nova took the stage to show off her steps.

The dog’s family hopes that Nova’s top notch behavior and success sets a good example for their other dog, a rescue dachshund named Phoebe.

If Phoebe follows in her adopted sister’s pawsteps, we would hopefully get another adorable canine quinceañera in the future.

Education / How To Pass 2018 Jamb CBT Exam by phoenix45(m): 9:08am On Feb 18, 2018
This article is aim at guiding/educating Nigerian students that are going to be writing this coming 2018 jamb CBT exam

Well am going to say that Nigerian jamb CBT exam is one of the simplest exam, which only depends on how you prepared for it though.
Some students always finds it difficult on how to pass jamb CBT exam which have resulted to majority of them writing same jamb exam for up to 3-5 times. Some even go as far as paying huge amounts of money in other to secure external jamb expo which may sometimes implicate them in the examination hall. There is no need to deny the fact that this practice has been going on in every Jamb cbt examination hall.
But nevertheless, passing jamb CBT exam is not all that difficult as it seems to be before. Especially when paper/pencil method was being used long ago for writing jamb Exam.
Nowadays there have been many helpful tutorials and also some sites that have volunteered to offer jamb cbt examination test free of charge so that every jamb candidates will be familiar with the patterns and also how jamb cbt exam looks like.
Here am going to list 10 guidelines on how to pass 2018 jamb CBT exam successfully

1. Early registration: there have been issues of some students not registering their jamb examination early before the deadline for the registration.
It is advised that for every students that have been preparing to write jamb exam should try as much as possible to register for the jamb exam early so as to enable the student secure a good and comfortable examination center and also enable him/her get all the exam material resource in time.

2. Studying previous jamb past question: studying/solving past jamb CBT exam question is very important for every jamb candidates, there is no doubt to let you know that 30% of every jamb examination mostly comes from the past written jamb examinations. So therefore studying past exam question will not only help to enhance your exam preparations but it can also makes you minimize your chance of failing the jamb exam.
So try as much as possible to look for past jamb cbt question on any of the courses that you will be examined on.
I believe there are some sites that have uploaded jamb past question online. Some have it in pdf format or you can easily study it online whichever way you chooses try as much as possible to get and study jamb question in other to be familiar with jamb question formats.

3. Online learning approach: we are now in a digitalized world, where most of our everyday activities is now mostly done online. So basically using online learning approach to study for jamb is quite good for any student that actually finds it hard to study with book. Especially those that are phone addict, that can’t open a single page of a note book without checking his/her phone every minute.
There are many websites that every phone addict or any student going for jamb Exam should care to check out. This websites offers free tutorial on some courses that you are going to write such as English, Maths, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, etc. while some might require you to subscribe before accessing their various tutorials online. Here are the list of websites that have some various courses cbt exams that you can write on your jamb cbt exams: https://myschool.ng/classroom/exam, https://pass.ng/ etc...

4. Groups study: am going to say that this don’t work for some students out there because they believed that they can study on their own and get their desired results which might sometimes won’t work out according to their expectance, but be rest assured that there is 70% chance of you making a good grade on your jamb result when you study in group.
There is huge benefit in undergoing group learning this not only apply to jamb exams tho. You can form a group of 3 minimum or 5 maximum depending on how you wanted it to be. You can go to your neighborhood and meet some of your fellow jambites that is also preparing for jamb exam tell them about your intention on forming a small study group.
Try to find quiet place that will be convenient for you guys. Its best advised to make use of library or school environment for the studies. Try to make the group very interactive after every study sessions by asking question based on what you people learned. Challenge each other with various questions, solve some problems from past questions or self-setted question.

Making use of group learning approach will help build your reading skills, and also enable you scale through any exam that you will encounter in future more especially jamb Exam!.

5. Computer literacy: there is so much need for me to emphasize more on this, because there have been lots of issue of some students going for jamb cbt exam without proper knowledge or basic experience of how to make use of computer, with them knowing fully well that the exam they are going for is compulsory a computer based test (cbt) examination. This sometimes ends up causing more havoc or failure to the student simply because they pressed wrong button during the exam session (although sometimes this may happens especially when your time is elapsing during the Examination session).
So therefore for every jambites that have not yet gotten any basic knowledge of computer should please try to make out time to enroll for computer lesson at any nearest location. Undergoing computer lesson is not just learning how to “boot and shutting down computer”.
There are lots of packages that you could lay your hands on while undergoing computer lesson such as Corel draw, Microsoft excel, power point, Photoshop etc.
Some may thought that they are already familiar with everything concerning how to make use of computer so they don’t have to bother about this but there is need to be familiar with how CBT exams runs. So check online and enroll for free CBT tutorials in other to be acquainted with jamb CBT Exam interface.

6. Learn to relax your mind: always learn to free yourself from fear. Why am I saying this? Some students always panic whenever they remember they have jamb exam.
There is no need for you to worry much about that. All you have to do is study hard, get familiar with past questions and answer all available question, learn to give yourself question and solve it also.
Take a nap whenever you feel tired after reading, eat healthy food, and exercise your body.
Please this is a very important tips to grab because there have been issues where some students might forget some of the important materials that was required of them on the exam venue, simply because of panic that arise when they are travelling for their jamb exam. Relax your mind, have confidence in yourself because your panic means that you are not sure of your ability to pass the exam. I assured you that you can achieve more when your mind is relaxed than when you are in a state of panic!

7. Time management: To help sort out your time management, set up a timetable for your study. Write down how many subject that you will be writing on jamb and the day on which you have to sit for your own jamb exam. Then organize your study accordingly.
You may want to give some subjects especially mathematics, physics, chemistry (although that depends on how good you are with any available subjects) more study time than others, so find a balance that you feel comfortable with.
Remember do not wait till exam date is announced before you start studying your books, and please note that “you are not only studying to pass your exam but you are studying to acquire good knowledge and understanding of any subject you are studying on”. Do not be deceived by your peers who will try to laugh at you when you are visiting the school library, or stay up at midnight or anywhere you finds it comfortable to study your books ahead of your exam because you are laying foundation to your successful jamb examination results”.

8. Getting rid of distractions: Make sure you have enough space to sort your textbooks and notes out. Try as much as possible to get enough study light that won’t make you feel dizzy or suddenly tired when reading, know what type of study light that is quite comfortable for your eyes, (although white light is more encourage-able to be used for studying).
Is your table, chair comfortable? Are your mobile phones, social media chatting or computer games out of sight? Be sure to perfectly Try and get rid of all distractions, and make sure you feel as comfortable and able to focus as possible during your reading sessions.
For some people, this may mean almost complete silence, for others, especially me, am more comfortable playing background music such as classical hits. (You can download a lots of classical hits online, they help to relax your brain while reading).
Some of us need everything completely tidy and organized in order to concentrate, while others thrive in a more cluttered environment. Think about what works for you, and take the time to get it right.

9. Plan your exam day: Make sure you get everything ready well in advance of the exam - don't leave it to the day before to suddenly realize you don't know the way, or what you're supposed to bring.
Check all the rules and requirements, and plan your route and journey time earlier because we know how bad Nigerian roads are. So if your exam center is quiet far from where your location is, be sure to travel as early as possible to the exam venue If possible, do a test run of the trip. If not, write down clear directions.
Work out how long it will take to get there - then add on some extra time. You really don't want to arrive having had to run halfway or feeling frazzled from losing your way. You could also make plans to travel to the exam with friends or classmates, as long as you know they're likely to be punctual.

10. Take regular breaks: While you may think it's best to study for as many hours as possible, this can actually be counterproductive. If you were training for a marathon, you wouldn't try and run 24 hours a day. Likewise, studies have shown that for long-term retention of knowledge, taking regular breaks really helps.
Everyone's different, so develop a study routine that works for you. If you study better in the morning, start early before taking a break at lunchtime. Or, if you're more productive at nighttime, take a larger break earlier on so you're ready to settle down come evening.
Try not to feel guilty about being out enjoying the sunshine instead of hunched over your textbooks. Remember Vitamin D is important for a healthy brain.

You may feel like you deserve a treat, or that you don't have time to cook, but what you eat can really have an impact on energy levels and focus, so keep away from junk food.
Keep your body and brain well-fuelled by choosing nutritious foods that have been proven to aid concentration and memory, such as fish, nuts, seeds, yogurt and blueberries. The same applies on exam day - eat a good meal before the test, based on foods that will provide a slow release of energy throughout. Sugar may seem appealing, but your energy levels will crash an hour later.
As a final tip of this article, learn to Take adequate water, remember that being well hydrated is essential for your brain to work at its best. Make sure you keep drinking plenty of water throughout your revision, and also on the exam day.

Good luck! In your jamb examination, remember determination is the key to success.

please can someone explain to me why there is lower number of people that are left-handed ?
My answer:
Left side dominance means the right side of the brain is dominant. Right side of the brain is creative and a bit chaotic. Left side of the brain is more orderly and logical. Left brain(right side dominance) is better for survival and spread more genes.

Education / Nasarawa Begins Closure Of Unregistered Private Schools — Commissioner by phoenix45(m): 4:39pm On Feb 14, 2018
The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Education, Mr Tijjani Ahmed, on Wednesday said the ministry had commenced the closure of unregistered private schools operating in the state.

Ahmed, who made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia, said the unregistered schools were discovered following a census conducted recently.

The commissioner said the ministry had since set up a taskforce to look into their activities.

Ahmed also lamented that some schools operate in an uncondusive environment without space and some in uncompleted buildings.

He warned all private school operators who have yet to pay their yearly levies to do so to avoid sanctions.

He said it was no longer going to be business as usual where some people would short-change the government by not paying charges due to it.

Ahmed said proprietors of private schools should strictly adhere to the guidelines for the establishment and operation of their activities in the state.

The Commissioner explained that apart from the steps to shut illegal schools, the government had also set up other measures to tackle proliferation of illegal schools.

“The ministry has decided to step up supervision and review the registration of new schools upward and increased renewal registration for existing schools,’’ he said.

The commissioner said that so far, more of such illegal schools were found in Mararaba, Masaka and other communities of Karu Local Government Area.

He also disclosed that the ministry was working out modalities to address the challenges of students who were currently at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps due to attacks in some communities in the state.

Ahmed said the government would make arrangements for students at the IDPs camps who were supposed to write WASSCE and NECO to do.

Travel / Airlines To Save N11.6b Yearly From Removal Of VAT, Others by phoenix45(m): 7:34am On Feb 12, 2018
• Special panel takes proposal to FEC
The planned review and removal of the mandatory Value Added Tax (VAT) on all air travel tickets issued in the aviation sector will save local airlines at least N11.55 billion in revenue yearly.

The tax, which is five per cent of every ticket fare paid only by local passengers, has been scheduled for consideration and withdrawal at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

Stakeholders have commended the proposed move, describing it as a step in the right direction to save the local airlines from the burden of multiple charges allegedly suffocating the carriers.

The operators have consistently raised concerns on the perennial challenges occasioned by multiple taxation in the system, especially VAT, that is rare in global aviation and even in other modes of transportation in Nigeria. Besides VAT and Passenger Service Charge (PSC) that cost 10 per cent of every fare, the airlines alleged payment of 35 other sundry charges that cumulatively rake off about 65 per cent of revenue made in the sector.

The relentless campaign against the “killing” taxes and charges regime, however, paid off at the weekend when the Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, disclosed that a plan to remove the VAT, among others, had reached an advanced stage.

Sirika said in Lagos that the special committee of all stakeholders set up by the Federal Government to review multiple charges had submitted its report with a proposal for the removal VAT to align the industry with its counterparts in the world.

“We have gone very far. The report has been submitted and we are presenting the same to the government. One of the things we are considering is VAT. Since it is not chargeable on transportation, we are working hard to convince the government and I’m sure the government will be convinced to remove it and a few other things. We are preparing the final report for the government to take a final decision,” Sirika said.

Figures made available by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) show that local carriers transported no fewer than 7.7 million passengers in 2017. At an average of N30, 000 per ticket, the carriers accumulated N231 billion of which five per cent VAT was in excess of N11.55 billion.

One of the agencies represented in the taxes and charges review committee is the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). The spokesman, Sam Adurogboye, said the proposal became necessary to align with international best practices.

The Chairman, Aircraft Operators of Nigeria (AON), Capt. Mohammed Joji, said the scrap of VAT in air transport sector was long overdue.

Joji recalled that VAT and its removal from air travel had been addressed since the era of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) of 1947 and General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) that came into force in 1995. That explains why international carriers do not charge VAT on their ticket sales based on international agreements.

Joji, who is also the Managing Director of Skypower Express Airways Nigeria Limited, claimed that VAT Decree 102 of 1993, schedule three, under “Goods Except” actually exempted transportation by road, rail and water from VAT deductions.

“Erroneously, they (government of the day) left air transportation on the VAT list. When we demanded to know the reason, they said because aviation was high- profile, unlike other sub-sectors. But that is a bad argument. They don’t know that aviation is a catalyst for the economy. That is what we have been telling them all these years,” Joji said.

According to him, the removal of VAT will be in the best interest of not only the passengers but the airlines in the areas of spare parts importation, payment of charges to regulatory agencies like NCAA and Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and helping the airlines to compete favourably with their counterparts on the African continent.

Other stakeholders toed the path of Joji, though stressed the need for more taxes and charges to be taken off the airlines or properly harmonised without duplications.

Among the charges for further review are passenger service charge of N1000 per ticket on local route, charter sales charge, aircraft inspection fees, simulator inspection fees, landing charges, parking charges and terminal navigational charge.

Others are enroute charge, fuel surcharge, airport space rent, electricity charges, apron pass, ODC, registration fee, service recovery charge, processing fee, avio bridge, aircraft registration and processing fee.

The airlines also pay toll gate fee, VIP lounge, trolley service, clearance fee, check-in counter charge, courier/tarmac/pre-release charges, import charge (Dom), export charge (Dom), import royalty, export royalty, ports charge, exports charge, transhipment, and concession Fee.

Together, these charges eat deep into earnings, leaving the airlines with less than N10,000 on a passenger ticket sold at an average price of N30,000.

The Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, who confirmed the heavy toll, said: “If this current regime of taxation is not removed, no airline will survive.”
