I don’t want to hide the X-Hide App, what should I do?

Open the dialer and dial ##followed by the password you had set.

When the X-Hide interface pops upselect settings and turn off the hidden mode.

The X-Hide app will become available on the App drawer, but you will still need the PIN or your Fingerprint to open X-Hide.

I want to un-hide a Video/Image/App, what should I do?

Open X-Hide.

Select the Image/Video/App you hid, tap on the export button at the top right part of the display and export the image back to the Gallery/App drawer.

I want to uninstall a Hidden App

First unhide the App, then use the normal procedure to uninstall the App.

Will a Hidden App be shown in my App list?

Hidden Apps will not be shown in your App List.

I want to sell my phone, how can i deactivate the X-Hide feature?

There are two ways to this, you can clear the hidden content and then give the new owner your PIN and they can set a new X-Hide password.

You can also perform a Factory Reset and this will revert the X-Hide settings to default and the new owner can use the X-Hide application.

Phones / How To Listen To Whatsapp Audio Messages In Secret by phonedaddy: 9:15am On Apr 12, 2019
Whenever you receive an audio message and don’t want to play it through your speakers, here’s what you must do:

Simply tap the Play button on the message, then immediately hold your phone up to your ear.

WhatsApp will intelligently detect that your phone is up against your head, ( like you are making normal call) and switch to playing the message through your phone’s earpiece (like a call) instead of your speaker. It will even start the message from the beginning so you don’t miss any of it. grin grin

Phones / What Is USB OTG? 5 Cool Ways To Use It On Your Phone by phonedaddy: 1:19pm On Apr 08, 2019
USB drives are convenient, but you can’t use one with your phone. Well, unless you have an Android phone and know what USB OTG is.

USB On-The-Go (OTG) is a standardized specification that allows a device to read data from a USB device without requiring a PC. The device basically becomes a USB host, which isn’t an ability every gadget has.

You can do a lot with this, For example, you might connect a USB flash drive to your phone.

USB OTG is not an Android-specific feature. But since that’s its most popular use, we’ll focus on using it with Android.
The easiest way to check if your phone or tablet supports USB OTG is to look at the box it came in, or the manufacturer’s website. You’ll see a logo like the one above, or USB OTG listed in the specifications.

Another easy method is to use a USB OTG checker app. There are plenty of such free apps on the Google Play Store, but some are loaded with ads. Easy OTG Checker is a reliable app for this. Download and run it, and you’ll know if your phone supports USB OTG.

Not every Android device supports USB OTG; it’s something the manufacturer has to enable. If you find out your phone isn’t compatible when you use USB OTG Checker, this unfortunately won’t work for you.

1. Connect Flash Drives and External Hard Drives

Unsurprisingly, external storage is at the top of this list. Just plug a drive in and you’ll be ready to go. You can then transfer all kinds of files.

Flash drives are the easiest to connect; external hard drives may or may not work. Portable hard drives that draw power from the phone won’t always work, but external drives with their own power source should work just fine.

You’ll need these drives to be in FAT32 format, as NTFS doesn’t work properly with Android. For more, we have a full guide on

2. Play With Video Game Controllers

Android Pie and newer natively support the Xbox One controller. But the older Xbox 360 controller also works with Android devices via USB OTG. It’s as simple as plug-and-play to start gaming with a controller. Of course, you need to play games that compatible with a controller.

If you have rooted your Android device, you can also connect PlayStation controllers. With this, you could connect a PS2 controller urn your Android device into a retro gamin

3. Control Android With Keyboard and Mouse

Android’s open nature makes it easy to connect just about anything. If you want to use your tablet as a laptop, a keyboard and mouse is integral to the experience. You’ll be happy to know that Android works well with most wireless and wired keyboards and mice

4. Print Directly From a Printer

Much like keyboards, printers with a standard plug-and-play USB work well with Android devices. These let you start printing without requiring a wireless connection or having to transfer anything to a PC first.

Android hasn’t supported USB Mass Storage mode for some time. Thus, if you want to print photos and documents, you’ll need to use the PTP or MTP modes for your USB connection.

Of course, it’s easier if your printer has Wi-Fi support. If it doesn’t, it might be time to upgrade to one of the best

5. Control Your DSLR Camera

Photographers will love this one. You can wire your Android device up to your DSLR camera and turn it into a giant live screen, complete with the ability to capture, focus, control shutter speed, and much more. It’s one of the most

Phones / Optical Vs. Digital Zoom! by phonedaddy: 8:58am On Apr 08, 2019
A lot of camcorders will make claims of 500x or even 800x or more zoom. Can you really zoom that far with these camcorders? The zoom number on the box is actually made up of a combination of two different types of zooms in your camcorder; the optical zoom and the digital zoom. So what’s the difference?

Optical Zoom

Optical zoom is the type of zoom you are accustomed to with your old 35mm camera. Optical zoom is when the lens actually moves in and out and gets you closer to the object. An optical zoom is a “real zoom”. When you are purchasing a camcorder you will want to look for a camcorder with a high optical zoom.

Digital Zoom

Digital pictures are made up of tons of tiny dots called pixels. A digital zoom just takes those small pixels and enlarges them. Although it may make your picture appear closer, using a lot of digital zoom in your video can also make your picture look blurry or distorted. If you zoom in all the way using your digital zoom the individual pixels will sometimes be visible as small squares. In most cases you will not want to use a digital zoom over 200x or 300x.

Using a digital zoom can also make any movement the camcorder makes look exaggerated, so it is best to use a tripod when you know you will be using digital zoom. There is a function on your camcorder to turn the digital zoom off many professionals do this in order to preserve the quality of their video.

How They Come up With That Huge Number

Camcorder manufacturers will usually multiply the optical zoom by the digital zoom to get the huge zoom number they put on the box of your camcorder. The larger number is meant to sway you into purchasing their camcorder over a competitors simply because it has a higher zoom. When you're shopping for a camcorder, purchase a camcorder with a high optical zoom over one with a large digital zoom. Your video will look much better, and you will overall be getting a much better deal. Read more about camcorders zoom, and find out how much zoom you'll need for different settings.

Phones / How To Keep Your Phone Cool When Using VR Games by phonedaddy: 10:51am On Apr 02, 2019
Virtual Reality (VR) games can cause your phone to heat up substantially after extended play. Here we’ll teach you how to prevent your phone from overheating.

When you were a kid, did you ever dream of living inside of a video game? With VR, this childhood dream could become a (virtual) reality. VR games allow the user to virtually step inside of the video game by rendering a three-dimensional game play system.

As you can imagine, this realistic gaming system is exciting to many who like to play video games on their phones. However, your phone must work extremely hard to load VR games. As a result, your phone can overheat to dangerous temperatures while you play. Remember, an overheated phone is okay occasionally, but can cause real damage if overheated several times a day. To keep your phone cool in the real world while you’re hanging out in the virtual one, try a few of these tips:

Turn your phone to airplane mode
Turning on airplane modes shuts down your phone’s wireless connection, which will give your phone the ability to focus solely on running the game. While you won’t be able to stream any content in your VR games, your battery life won’t be s..cked up by constantly updating, Wi-Fi-connected apps either.

Plug in your phone to an outlet
Some VR players swear by plugging in their phone cords when playing to stop their phones from overheating. For example, if you plug in a charger to your headset, then your phone won’t have to work so hard to power these external devices.

Play next to a fan
To cool down your phone, you can play your games in front of, yep, an actual fan. While it might limit your mobility, a room fan can help the teeny tiny fan inside your phone to stay functional.

Remove your phone’s back cover
While it doesn’t look pretty, your phone’s internal workings are less likely to overheat if you take the back cover off of your phone. You might have to remove your pretty phone cover first, but it’s worth a shot if you struggle with a constantly hot phone.

Phones / What Is The Difference Between MTP, PTP, And USB Mass Storage? by phonedaddy: 1:42pm On Apr 01, 2019
When we connect a smartphone to a PC, we usually find different options to do and select, each with their own characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages.

Hence, in this explanatory tutorial, we are going to explain the three main connection modes offered by most Android devices that are:-

1. MTP

2. PTP

3. USB Mass Storage

MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) on Android

In the most recent versions of Android, the MTP is the protocol which is used by default to establish connections with the computer. When we establish the connection through MTP our device becomes a “multimedia device” for the operating system, so we can use it with other applications like Windows Media Player or iTunes.

Basically, in this method, the computer has no control over the storage device at any time but behaves in a similar way as a client-server connection does. And below we have mentioned the steps that we usually follow when we connect our Android device to the computer and here they are.

1. First of all, we simply connect the Android device to the computer.

2. Then we open the storage memory.

3. After that, the mobile sends a list of its files to the computer.

4. Now, the computer sends a file download request.

5. Then the device simply sends you a copy of the file, which is downloaded through the cable to the computer.

6. Now a list of files is forwarded and the connection is closed while waiting for a response.

7. In case you need to send a file:-

8. A file transfer request is sent.

9. Then the Android device simply accepts it.

10. After the above step, the file simply begins to be sent.

However, the fact is that the speed of this protocol is quite lower than the speed offered by mass storage protocol, although it also depends on the device that we have connected.

Moreover, this protocol has some drawbacks, as it is more unstable than mass storage and much less compatible, for example with Linux operating systems, because MTP depends on specific and proprietary drivers to operate. This protocol can also generate some problems of incompatibility in other operating systems like MacOS, as it does in Linux.

PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) on Android

This type of connection is the least used by Android users, as when users select this method, the Android device is displayed on the computer as a camera. Generally, when we connect the cameras the computer simply offers support PTP and MTP at the same time.

While in PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) mode, the smartphone simply behaves like a photo camera without MTP support. This mode is basically recommended only if the user wants to transfer photos easily as it allows us to transfer photos from the device to the computer without the need to use any additional software or tool.

USB Mass Storage on Android

This mode is undoubtedly one of the most useful, compatible and easy to use. In this mode, the device simply connects as a USB memory or a conventional external hard drive, so that we can work with this storage space without any problem. In the event that the device has an external memory card, it is also mounted independently as another storage device.

The main problem in this way is that when it is connected to the computer and activated, the data is no longer available on the smartphone until the mass storage of the computer is disconnected, which can also cause some failure in the applications when trying to access it.

The most recent versions of Android have increased the security of the data stored on smartphones and tablets and also eliminated the compatibility with this type of connection, hence, leaving only the MTP and PTP connections together with their respective advantages and disadvantages.

Phones / Protect Your Eyes At Night With These Tips by phonedaddy: 5:07pm On Mar 26, 2019
Our eyes are precious and should be cherished. After a long day and you want to check a few messages before you go to bed, here are a few tips to help protect your sight

{ Dim The Display } :- Bright screen makes your eyes tired quickly. When using the smartphone at night, dimming the display can protect your eyes from being harmed. You can easily do this from the Notification Bar of your phone. You may also turn on the Automatic Brightness to adjust the brightness based on light conditions.

{ Turn On Read Mode } :- While Working or catching up with conversations at night, turning on the reading mode is advantageous to you. With this mode, you can read for hours and not bother about eyestrain.

{ Turning On A Light } :- There is a high contrast between dark environment and bright screen, which will make eyes tired. Under the situation, eye specialists indicated that spasm of accommodation, a short - time blurred vision, might occur. Therefore, it is better to turn on a light when using the smartphone at night.

{ Put The Phone Down } :- One thing people who use the smartphone for a long time should be aware of is to keep the distance between their eyes and the smartphone from 10 to 15 inches. Secondly, do not stare at your smartphone longer than a half hour. Thirdly, when feeling tired, close your eyes or look into the distance.

Phones / Alarming Ways That Cybercriminals Try To Take Over Your Device by phonedaddy: 9:57am On Mar 25, 2019
Cybercriminals are always on the hunt for new ways to hack into your device in order to record your phone calls, read your text messages, gain access to your photo library and use this information against you. It’s clear there are many ways malware can reach your device. A great way to protect your device from phishing scams and malware is by using dfndr security’s anti-hacking feature:

The anti-hacking feature stops cybercriminals in their tracks, by alerting you to a suspicious link even before you click on it. To understand how cybercriminals really work, here are 6 ways they target your smartphone.

1) Public Wi-Fi “Honeypots”
Not all Wi-Fi networks are secure, and one popular method used to reel you in is through unsecured wireless Internet networks, which you can find in many public places. Scammers use “honeypot” names such as “Airport Wi-Fi” or “Coffee Shop” to lure you into their network, paving the way for a cyber attack. You can avoid this scenario by turning your Wi-Fi off in public places, and use your mobile data plan instead for short online interactions.

2) Hidden Bluetooth Vulnerabilities
If you own a smartphone, chances are it has Bluetooth capabilities to connect with other devices. Security researchers have found airborne vulnerabilities in unpatched versions of Android operating systems. This allows hackers into a device without you clicking on any links or downloading content. You can avoid this attack is by turning off Bluetooth in public places.

3) Fake Apps With Malware
Hackers often spread malware by designing apps that look identical to popular social media networks, games, and other apps that are frequently downloaded. In some cases, these apps are advertised via email or text, encouraging you to download what is often indistinguishable from the real thing but has malicious coding built into the design. Once you download the malicious app, hackers can control your phone and steal your personal information or “ransom” your device until you pay them.

4) Facebook Messenger App Backdoor
Real apps can be dangerous too as security researchers discovered a hacking backdoor in Facebook Messenger. The technology allows hackers to launch a man-in-the-middle attack in Messenger, using your personal messages to set you up for a crime or speak to friends and family on your behalf.

5) Malevolent Product Barcodes
Today’s technology allows us to scan barcodes in order to pay for products or services with our phones. However, cybercriminals have created a series of QR codes that allow them to infiltrate your device through cameras or sensors. A simple email with a message offering you a good deal on an item or a phishing scheme with a barcode is all it takes to compromise a smartphone.

6) Subtitles in Streaming Apps
Any device using popular streaming apps VLC, Kodi (XMBC), Popcorn-Time, or strem.io could be vulnerable to an attack while watching content. Hackers create fake subtitles, which users download to their streaming service and introduce malware to their phone.

Just knowing what cybercriminals are up to is half the battle to ensure your Android phone is safe, along with having an advanced antivirus app installed. Those 2 combined means you’re on the winning side.

Phones / Google Drive 2.19.112 Has A Dark Theme That Works With Android Q’s System-wide by phonedaddy: 10:15am On Mar 20, 2019
Although Google made no mention of a system-wide dark theme in their blog post for the first Android Q beta, it’s no secret to us that it’s coming. The first Android Q beta lets you enable the dark theme by either turning on battery saver or accessing a hidden preference via ADB. If you have Android Q’s dark mode enabled and the latest version of the Google Drive app for Android with a hidden flag enabled, then you’ll be able to see Google Drive’s hidden dark mode. This was brought to our attention by Kieron Quinn, also known on our forums as XDA Recognized Developer Quinny899. You can see screenshots of Drive’s new dark mode below.

An APK teardown can often predict features that may arrive in a future update of an application, but it is possible that any of the features we mention here may not make it in a future release. This is because these features are currently unimplemented in the live build and may be pulled at any time by Google in a future build.

As you can see, the dark mode doesn’t change much from the base Material Theme redesign of the Google Drive Android app that began rolling out this week. The background in the home, starred, shared, and files tabs are all dark gray. Documents remain their original color, however. Right now, there’s no toggle in Drive’s settings to turn on or off the dark mode. That may be added in a future release along with tweaks to the dark theme.

The Drive app will join Google Chrome, Google Phone, Google Contacts, Messages, Google News, Google Play Games, YouTube, and more Google apps with built-in dark modes. You can download the latest Google Drive Android release from the Google Play Store button below or from APKMirror. Once Drive’s new dark mode becomes broadly accessible, we’ll update this article to let you know.
