TikTok has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons. Take for example the ban imposed by US Army, preventing soldiers from using the viral app on government-issued phones citing security concerns. Now, Check Point research has reported multiple vulnerabilities in the TikTok app that could allow hackers to gain control of a user account and manipulate its content, erase videos, change the privacy status, and do a lot more damage. Thankfully, the vulnerabilities in TikTok have now been fixed. While most of the fixes were on the back-end, users are recommended to update their apps to the latest version to be on the safe side.

Check Point Research mentions in its blog post that it was possible to send an SMS message to a mobile number on behalf of TikTok. This functionality is available on the official TikTok website to let users download the app. However, hackers can capture HTTP request using a proxy tool and spoof a message that can contain any harmful link the malicious party intends to send. The link in question can then redirect users to a malicious website, and this was made possible because the redirection process was found to be vulnerable. This further opens the possibility of launching Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF), and Sensitive Data Exposure attacks.

Once this happens, the attacker can take advantage of multiple intermediary techniques to become a follower of the victim and wreak havoc. The possible damage scenarios include deleting someone's TikTok videos, upload unauthorised clips, make ‘private' videos public, and even expose sensitive personal information associated with a TikTok account such as the linked email address, birth dates, payment details, and more. It is essentially equivalent to having a complete account takeover. Thankfully, Check Point Research notified TikTok about the vulnerability and the flaw was fixed before the findings were made public.

TikTok Bans 'Misleading Information' That Could Cause Harm
The security experts at Check Point Research also discovered that a TikTok subdomain (https://ads.tiktok.com) was vulnerable to XSS attacks, which could allow hackers to inject malicious scripts in trusted websites. In the case of TikTok, the injection point for launching an XSS attack was found in the search functionality. The Check Point Research blog post also notes that TikTok employed an unconventional JSONP callback that makes it possible to request data from API servers without CORS and SOP restrictions, which made it possible to steal data by initiating an AJAX request.

The latest over-the-air (OTA) update for the Infinix Hot 8 brings the updated XOS v5.5 custom skin based on Android Pie that introduces features such as Social Turbo, Game Assistant, and new gesture-based features. The latest update for the Infinix Hot 8 also adds a beautification feature for WhatsApp video calls, a peek mode for privacy, and more.

Infinix says that the XOS v5.5 update is now rolling out for Infinix Hot 8 users in India. The update brings the December Android security patch, as well as we the updated GMS (Google Mobile Services) v201910 package. Talking about new features arriving with the update, the notable ones in include Social Turbo that the company calls a WhatsApp Assistant, and adds features like WhatsApp call recorder, and customisable stickers among others. Listed below is a breakdown of the features introduced by the XOS v5.5 update:

Social Turbo / WhatsApp Assistant

The Social Turbo set includes a WhatsApp call recorder and a ‘Video Beauty' beautification feature for WhatsApp video calls. The update also adds a ‘Peek Mode' that lets users read a message without alerting the sender, while the new flash notification feature alerts users by flickering the LED flash when they receive a new message. There is also a ‘Clean WhatsApp' feature that lets users clean the media received via WhatsApp that is hogging up internal storage.

XOS v5.5 update also adds a new ‘Answer with a Gesture' feature that lets users answer an incoming call by just using hand gestures, without even touching their phone.
The new ‘Smart Screen Lifting' feature lights up the phone's screen when users pick it up.
There is a new ‘Game Assistant' feature that provides quick controls for certain tools in a panel that can be accessed by just swiping from the side. Lastly, the ‘Game Anti-Interference' mode blocks notifications and reminders, except those for incoming calls and alarms.

My experience with infinix is so terrible. I bought my infinix note 3 on July 19 2017, I bought it for close to 60k. I later bought a galaxy note 8 on December 18 2017. So, I stopped using the infinix note 3, I switch it off and kept it somewhere safe. I do use it once in a while throughout 2018, the last time I use it in 2018 was around may 2018.

Fast forward to July 2019, I sold my Note 8, and started using the infinix note 3, this useless phone don dey frustrate my life since then. I do feel like crying and smashing this useless phone cause of the way it hangs, and it is so fucking slow. Is so hard to delete some contact, in fact a single number fit appear like 3-4 times on my phone contact.

You will just pity me with the way this phone take slow. I will never buy a infinix product again, is just a waste of money. I'm planing on getting the Xiaomi note 8 pro or Samsung Note 9 soon and sell this useless phone... Then it will be good bye to transission(abi wetin b dia useless name ).

Phone wey I hardly use, I mostly use my phone for calls, chat on WhatsApp, read news on Google, nairaland, and listen to music. I hardly snap pic or do other stuff with the phone. Only God knows how the back camera glass broke, but the camera still dey work fine sha though the picture quality is terrible, in fact, e go don dey reach like 3 month wey I last used the camera.

All in all, I was expecting this phone to be working fine cause I never used it the way I used the galaxy note 8.

If you know say you dey use phone for about 2-3 years before you get a new one, then do not buy an infinix phone, you should get Samsung, huaweii, iPhone, Xiaomi or all this better phone.

A friend of mine used a Xiaomi product for close to three years, without having any issue with it, e bought a pocophone last year for #100+, and e still dey enjoy am till today. I've only updated this phone once, and that was on the night I bought it, since then dem don forget say people still dey use infinix note 3.

Sorry about your experience but most who complain of hanging are the ones who overload their ram with many apps over the limit of the device.
