Politics / Re: Federal Government Invests N16bn Sukuk Bond On South East Roads by phreakabit(m): 1:22pm On Mar 01, 2018
Definition of sukuk (Islamic bonds)

Islamic bonds, structured in such a way as to generate returns to investors without infringing Islamic law (that prohibits riba or interest).

Sukuk represents undivided shares in the ownership of tangible assets relating to particular projects or special investment activity. A sukuk investor has a common share in the ownership of the assets linked to the investment although this does not represent a debt owed to the issuer of the bond.

In the case of conventional bonds the issuer has a contractual obligation to pay to bond holders, on certain specified dates, interest and principal. In contrast, under a sukuk structure the sukuk holders each hold an undivided beneficial ownership in the underlying assets.

Consequently, sukuk holders are entitled to a share in the revenues generated by the Sukuk assets. The sale of sukuk relates to the sale of a proportionate share in the assets.[1]

Since the beginning of 2000, sukuk have become important Islamic financial instruments in raising funds for long-term project financing. The first sukuk were issued by Malaysia in 2000, followed by Bahrain in 2001. Since then sukuk have been used by both the corporate sector and states for raising alternative financing. While sukuk issuance was affected by the global financial crisis, since 2011, sukuk have been growing in popularity. [2]

Example

There are various types of sukuk structures relating to the nature of the underlying asset. The most commonly used is where the sukuk relates to a partial ownership of an asset (sukuk al-ijarah). Other types of these bonds relate to partial ownership in in a debt (sukuk murabaha), project (sukuk al-istisna), business (sukuk al-musharaka), or investment (sukuk al-istithmar).

Family / Re: "My Husband Employed Imam To Have Sex With Me For 3 Days" – Wife by phreakabit(m): 6:04pm On Feb 28, 2018
A divorce seeking wife has accused her husband of employing an Islamic preacher to have sex with her for money-making ritual purposes.

The woman, Musilimotu Olashuyi, 48, claimed that she introduced her husband, Gbenga Olashuyi, 55, to the unnamed Alfa because she used to frequent his mosque for prayers.

She said at some point, the Alfa noticed that Olashuyi’s business wasn’t going well, a situation that made her to introduce the Alfa to him.

However, Musilimotu said, the Alfa ended up committing adultery with her, allegedly on the instruction of her husband.

She made the allegations at the Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Wednesday.

“It was with my husband’s consent that the Alfa slept with me for three days,’’ Musilimotu disclosed, while praying the court to dissolve the marriage.

She alleged that her husband had also conspired with the Alfa to use her for money ritual.

She narrated to the court, “Actually, my husband got to know the Alfa through me because I always go to his mosque to pray.

“When he told me that my husband’s business was not moving fine, I brought him home to meet my husband.

“Before I knew what was happening, my husband had conspired with him to use me for money ritual. It was with my husband’s consent that the Alfa slept with me for three days.

“After the incident, I started getting sick and getting emaciated and I told the people around me what happened, which led to the arrest of the Alfa; but my husband ran away.

“Gbenga resurfaced at the station after the Alfa brought a remedy to cure me.”

Musilimotu alleged further that Gbenga had refused to repay a loan she collected on his behalf in which she stood as the guarantor.

She said that Gbenga packed out her belonging from his house last October and stole N1m belonging to her.

Musilimotu pleaded with the court to terminate the union, saying that she was no longer in love with Gbenga after four years of marriage.

But Gbenga told the court that it was Musilimotu who lured him to buy the coffin for the money ritual to turn their fortunes around.

“My wife and her concubine persuaded me to buy a coffin for money ritual and she brought the Alfa to the house,” Gbenga said.

He added that the cleric had told him that God revealed to him that his business was collapsing and that he would make some rituals for him.

“I agreed to make the ritual because truly, my business was not moving well. Since that day, my wife has been coming home with the Alfa and with different objects and concoctions for me to drink and have my bath with.

“Later, Alfa asked me to bring N800,000 to buy some items for another ritual. He also told me to buy a casket for money ritual, which I will put in a separate room where nobody will enter except me.

“My wife begged me to comply with Alfa’s request, but I declined,” Gbenga claimed.

The businessman accused his wife of infidelity, alleging that Alfa always made love to Musilimotu on their matrimonial bed.

He said he knew about the adulterous relationship when his wife had Alfa arrested and accused the cleric of using charms to rape her.

“The cleric told the police that he did not hypnotise my wife to rape her, saying that it was with her consent that he made love to her on those three occasions,” Gbenga said.

Gbenga confessed that he packed Musilimotu’s belongings out of his house.

He also pleaded with the court to dissolve the marriage, saying that he was no longer interested in the relationship.

The President of the court, Mr. Akin Akinniyi, however, advised the couple to maintain the peace while he adjourned the case until March 22 for judgment.

Mrchippychappy:

So something really funny happened right now. I googled the name of the Nigerian terrorist the USA blacklisted Abu Musab Al - Barnawi and the search returned news and information on Abu Musab Al - Barnawi BUT something stood out, the search also brought the name of 5 other individuals

1. Abubakar Shekau
2.Mohammed Yusuf
3. Maitatsine
4. Abu Al-Zarqawi

All these men listed above all have one thing in common, They were / are all Islamic Terrorists

BUT HERE'S THE INTERESTING PART. The Fifth individual is someone we all know, now, I cannot write about the fifth person here for obvious reasons (Ehmmm...Lai Mmmmmm, lets leave it at that), but there's a saying that goes like this "show me your friend and I would tell you who you are", and there is another saying "By their fruits you shall know them". Now my question is this, WHY has this fifth individual been associated with these men? Your guess is as good as mine. Don't believe me? search the name "Abu Musab Al - Barnawi"

I would let you be the judge

Stanley Opara , with agency report

The United States Treasury Department has added one organisation in Nigeria and other six organisations in Africa and Asia to its sanctions list for global terrorism .

Two individuals — including Abu Musab Al - Barnawi of Nigeria and Mahad Moalim of Ogbomosho in Nigeria — were also added to the list for their connection to the Islamic States , the US Treasury said on Tuesday.

The Treasury ’ s Office of Foreign Assets Control said on its website that at the group level , Bangladesh , Egypt , the Philippines, Somalia, Nigeria and Tunisia were on the list .

“ The additions include ISIS -Bangladesh , ISIS - Egypt , ISIS -Philippines, ISIS - Somalia, ISIS -West Africa , Jund al- Khilafah -Tunisia, also known as ISIS -Tunisia, and the Philippines-based Maute Group , also known as Islamic State of Lanao, ” Reuters quoted the OFAC to have said .

The US State Department said in a separate statement that , including the latest additions , it had designated 40 Islamic State leaders and operatives dating back to 2011 under an order aimed at denying them access to the US financial system .

“ These designations are part of a larger comprehensive plan to defeat ISIS that , in coordination with the 75-member Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS , has made significant progress toward that goal, ” the statement said , using a common abbreviation for Islamic State.

This effort “is destroying ISIS in its safe havens , denying its ability to recruit foreign terrorist fighters, stifling its financial resources , negating the false propaganda it disseminates over the internet and social media , and helping to stabilize liberated areas in Iraq and Syria so the displaced can return to their homes and begin to rebuild their lives , ” the statement added .

Islamic State fighters were driven last year from all the population centers they occupied in both Syria and Iraq, but Washington still considers them a threat , capable of carrying out an insurgency and plotting attacks elsewhere .

On February 9 this year , the OFAC took action targeting ISIS ’ s global facilitation network by designating three individuals and three entities as Specially Designated Global Terrorists pursuant to Executive Order (E. O . ) 13224 , which targets terrorists and those providing support to terrorists or acts of terrorism .

These actions are part of a continued whole - of -government effort to identify and expose individuals and entities that provide support to ISIS and advance the violent terrorist group ’ s operational activity. As a result of today ’ s designations , all property and interests in property of these persons subject to the US jurisdiction are blocked , and US persons are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with them .

“The Administration is committed to defeating ISIS wherever it operates , denigrating its illicit revenue streams , and pursuing all financial conduits, ” said Treasury Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence , Sigal Mandelker .

“ Each individual and entity targeted has contributed to the spread of ISIS ’ s terror reach in their respective corner of the world . Treasury will continue to relentlessly target ISIS support networks , and ensure that the US and international financial systems are not being exploited by terror operatives , ” Mandelker .

No IPOB name sha!!! shocked

If he's such a hero how come most of us have never heard of him? Don't get me wrong, my point is, we should learn to celebrate our heroes when they are still alive (which actually benefits them more) than when they are dead, which is of no use to them.

If you are Igbo, you should be somewhat ashamed about not knowing who he was. This man rose from being an untrained militia man, to being one of Benjamin Adekunle's fiercest rival. Read up about other brave HEROS like Gen. Philip Effiong, Colonel Patrick Amadi,Colonel Nsudo, Christopher Okigbo, Lieutenant-Colonel Willy Archibong (AKA Prince of darkness) etc. Can't mention all of them, the point here is regardless of the outcome Igbos should always stay informed about what happened during the war.... NEVER forget! You should read the book : No place to hide (crises and conflicts inside Biafra) by Bernard Odogwu. That is probably the most accurate account of what went on during the civil war.
