Today was for Great britain, welldone. A country that invests a lot in young talents. Nigeria might want to take a leaf out of their book in preparation for the next olympics starting now. |
Tolaaaaannni: I swear to God,I hate that term Natural sisters, and how they have their community and association and crap. Even here in abroad they are annoying as crap. What is so special about their hair that they need to connect with each other for. AT THE END OF THE DAY RELAXED HAIR AND NATURAL HAIR ARE JUST HAIR! nothing special about it. Plain and simple. Hair is Hair.Hair is not hair, there is nothing better than your own hair, be it relaxed, coloured etc the problem with most african women is that they do not have confidence in their own hair. I have seen some nigerian women with lovely hair, but feel better wearing a wig or weave even if it looks worst on them than their natural hair. |

Are there any experts in the house who can explain in a laymans language to me what this actually means. Thanks. |

He wasn't the fastest, the fastest was Aeigner H from Germany who completed in 83.49. Jonny completed 104 and didn't qualify for the next stage. I listened to Johnny Akinyemi on CNN African Voices his humility shines and i wish him goodluck for the future. We need more sports men and woman like him to inspire our youths. |
That word "half caste" is derogatory and not used any more. Mixed race is a more dignified word. I wish you goodluck with your search |
A man was riding his Harley along a California beach when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, God said, "Because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish." The biker pulled over and said, "Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want." God replied, "Your request is materialistic; think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking; the supports required reaching the bottom of the Pacific and the concrete and steel it would take! I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of something that could possibly help mankind." The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, "God, I wish that I, and all men, could understand women; I want to know how she feels inside, what she's thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing's wrong, why she snaps and complains when I try to help, and how I can make a woman truly happy." God replied: "You want two lanes or four on that bridge...?" |

Foods that can boost your health and ultimately save your life The foods that we often feel guilty about eating can help to save your life. ‘What the health! Food can save your life?’ It certainly can, and it gets even better; when we talk of life-saving foods, we aren’t limited to the obvious healthy foods: fruit and veg. Here’s our refreshing approach to healthy eating. We’ve compiled a list of our five favourite health-boosting foods and the reasons why they can save your life. Here's our refreshing approach to healthy eating. Life-saving food number 1: Chocolate Exciting news for chocolate lovers: studies have shown that chocolate can reduce the risk of heart attacks and protect against deadly blood clots. Indeed, US researchers published in the British Medical Journal explain that chocolate can lower the risk of heart disease by over a third. This is achieved by natural health-promoting flavonoids, which improve the blood flow through the vessels to decrease the chances of heart attack. In fact, researchers have even recommended that anyone going on a long-haul flight should eat chocolate to promote healthy blood flow, lowering the risk of blood clots passengers are more prone to after sitting in the same position for long periods of time. This is the perfect excuse to book a holiday, and munch on chocolate during the flight – bliss! Life-saving food number 2: Salmon According to research undertaken by Rush University Medical Centre, those who eat fish at least once a week are less likely to experience Alzheimer’s disease compared to those who rarely incorporate fish into their diet. Dr Martha Morris of St Luke’s Medical Centre in Chicago conducted a study on 815 people between the ages of 65 and 94, documenting their brain health for seven years. Luckily, such a time-consuming task revealed some fantastic results: Morris discovered that regular fish-eaters had a massive seventy per cent less chance of contracting Alzheimer’s disease than those who did not eat fish. Scientists have discovered that the DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) in fish is the key to combating Alzheimer’s: DHA slows down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease, making this the key ingredient for a healthy brain and, ultimately, a healthier lifestyle too. Life-saving food number 3: Garlic More and more evidence seems to be emerging that, of the many compounds found in garlic, 10 of them help to combat cancer. Garlic also contains immune-enhancing compounds that help to break down the substances that cause cancer. For example, diallyl sulphide, a component of garlic, is known for its ability to break down carcinogens in the body, which may have led to cancer if they weren’t destroyed. According to research, people who consume garlic regularly face half the risk of stomach cancer than those who eat little or none. Life-saving food number 4: Cranberries It would take a long time to list the many health benefits of cranberries but, in short, this tiny fruit is a life-saver (literally) when it comes to our health. Indeed, the little cranberry is full of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and immune-boosting properties, as well as being jam-packed full of phytonutrients. The more phytonutrients we have in our body, the greater the protection. Moreover, the phytochemicals found in red fruits and berries help to combat cancer-causing molecules. In a study conducted by Cornell University, researchers tested cranberry extracts on human breast cancer cells and discovered that, over four hours, many of the same breast cancer cells had begun to die. So not only do they taste amazing, but these little red gems make a powerful addition to any diet. Life-saving food number 5: The coffee bean A study by the University of Scranton found that the flavonoids contained in coffee can prevent heart disease. The professor who led the experiment, Dr. Joe Vinson, says that “antioxidants are your army to protect you from the toxic free radicals, which come from breathing oxygen and eating sugar, that start chronic diseases”. The antioxidants in coffee ward off life-threatening diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. It’s worth bearing in mind though, that caffeine raises your blood pressure, so if you’re drinking a large amount it’s best to opt for decaf, which offers the same amount of antioxidant properties as regular coffee. So let’s raise our warm mugs of coffee to health, happiness, and battling horrible diseases the tasty way. Here’s to a prosperous life |
We live in a free world, it is this ladies choice to dress this way. Even in the developed countries you get people dressing like this. One mans meat is anothers poison. The way i choose to dress is my own choice, this does not mean that everyone must conform to my way. We should try and show a bit of respect to the choices made by those around us. It is because of attitudes like this that some of our girls who cannot ordinarily afford the "norm" way of dressing prostitute themselves. Our girls are selling themselves for blackberries and stupid wigs because that is the acceptable norms of society. This poor innocent girl doesnt know that her picture is being made fun of on nairaland, she has done nothing wrong, if this were to be your relative how would the op feel? |
Lordave: Always India. There is a high proportion of abnormal births taken place in indian, could it be as a result of first cousins marrying each other. So if there is a bad or mutated gene in the family it expresses its self. This is just a thought as most of us know that inbreeding does not get rid of bad genes. I could be wrong. |
Dear OP The decision is entirely yours, if you think that at the end of your ACCA qualifications, it will enhance your job promotion, then please go ahead but if that is the only reason you want to have the qualification, you will need to go back to the drawing board. Also depending on how quick you are in passing your modules ACCA takes about 2 to three years and cost a lot of money, but if you are not being successful at your fist attempt it might take longer. ACCA is not the easiest of exams, you will need to give up your social life. The question you should ask yourself, is that at the end of all this pain what do you stand to gain? I also noticed ( i am assuming you are based in Nigeria) The Nigeria job market is very discriminatory when it comes to Age. If you have enough capital and you have researched your business idea, then maybe that is your best option as you do not have to make money for others and you will be your own boss. I hope this helps, at the end of the day you are the only one who can make the right decision for yourself. |

Hi Ruth having read through your thread, you have got loads of very good advice here. I felt i should add these few money saving tips. Based on information you said that you spend much of your income on transport. I know of a very close friend who had to travel into zone 1 for many years and then she discovered the overground and this cut her travel expensess by half as the main route of the overground doesn't pass through zone 1(most expensive zone). Even though she worked in zone one she came off at one of the overground stops and hopped on the bus for about 2 stops, sometimes she even walked it. About ten mins. The only disadvantage to her was that it added 15mins to her journey. The advantage is that she was able to save about £60 every month and the trains are not as packed as the underground. This may work for you depending on where you start your journey and also where you have got to get off in zone one and if you are not pressed for time at the end of your working day. You may give it a try for a week and see if its worth also. If you want you can let us know your entry and exit stations and i can let you know which are the most cos effective routes. My second money saving tip and i am going to get lynched for this, but i will take the risk. This has got to do with your credit cards and based on my personal experience. Only try this if you are able to pay off your balance every month. If this is not the case then do not try it. I have got only 2 credit cards one i got because i get discount for when i buy my petrol and points for my shopping, i make sure that any household expenses and some bills like the CT are put on this card the only time i dont use my credit card for purchases is when there is a charge as i dont believe in paying bank charges wnen you can avoid it. I have never paid a penny interest on any of my cards reason being i pay my outstanding balance in full and on time at the end of each month. At the end od the year depending on my expenses i get about £100 cash vouchers on each card which may seem little but i see it as money for doing nothing. Like i said this is not for everybody if you are struggling to pay your balance every month then this is not for you. I hope this helps and i wish you and your family goodluck for the future and remember a little savings here and there adds up to make a big difference somewhere else. Goodluck and God bless you. |
