From both parents i learnt that "a good name and reputation is better than riches" |
If you are looking for reliability then forget about Arik air. All the stress you will go thru to seek answers will be more than 129. And if Virgin air cancels your flight there is a guarantee they will put all their stranded passengers up in a Hotel. When Arik Air teach their staff the meaning if customer service that will be the day i will star to use them for international flights. |
I have read most of the comments here and noticed a certain trend, the life of a human being in Nigeria has no value. This may be a cry out for help by this kid who may not have been prepared properly for the real world by those around her. Sometimes in life let us not be too quick to condem or pass judgement, the situations in the country has hardened the hearts of most people and as a result has blurred sympathetic reasoning. In the western world that is why certain charities are set up to avoid situations like this. For example the samaritans. This is because they understand in life there are times when people get to the lowest point in their lives but have someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on, makes all the difference. If the tables were turned and this were to be your sister, daughter, niece or friend would your comments be the same? I do not support what this young girl has done, all I'm saying is that a little bit of sympathy and support goes a long way. Trying to commit suicide is not a decision that is taken lightly. Most parents especially in Nigeria do not prepare their young ones properly for the emotional ups and downs of the real world. Maybe this should act as a warning to the rest of us. |
BUT I DIDN'T WRITE A DEFEAT SPEECH...UHMNNNNNNNNNN WHAT SHALL I SAY. https://blogs.r.ftdata.co.uk/the-world/files/2012/09/romney.jpg
PICK UP THE PHONE AND CONGRATULATE OBAMA AND THEN TAKE A LONG VACATION WITH YOUR FAMILY. ![]() |
Poor guy!! At least you campaigned to last minute ![]() shymexx: Team Romney - the Pres-select has a message for you... |
Boris Johnson now is the time to stick two fingers up at Romney after all his criticism of the London Olympics. |
Fox news are deluding themselves, saying Obama hasnt won yet. ![]() |
Congrats to Obama, Americans have made their choice good luck. |
We are all equal in the eyes of God. There is nothing wrong with that. ashmanpolo: In one sentence explain how u feel running into someone that's putting on the same type of shirt you are wearing especially if the person happens to be A conductor, agbero, mechanic, mortuary attendant, agbepo, onigo etc. |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpBXna8qtDQ&sns=em A video of a parent using their 4 month old baby to tease a lion. Do you think this is right or just a bit of fun? |
Me too....... |
spyder880: Point noted Oga, but in some places women do this work even better than the men. Go to Emene Enugu or Abakaliki town and you will see that women outnumber men in every decking concrete works. They will term me as very unfair if I had refused women from ferring concrete upstairs yesterday.Hi Oga Spyder ive been a silent follower of your thread for some time time and ive learnt a lot, i hope in the future i will be able to use your services. I feel ive got to comment. If the woman is the breadwinner and without that job her family will starve why not? Some women use this kind of job to train kids in the university, so oga flemmy you saying she needs to be restricted to cooking sounds patronising. The truth be told if there was a better and less manual job she could do, she wouldnt be doing this, so please let them do it as long as they are fit. |
Thanks Brabus Maybe this should be an idea for a new thread, cos i know a few people who do not live in Lagos but are interested in purchasing properties in some of these areas you have mentioned. They would be interested in certain kind of information, like the crime rate, security, noise and other kinds of polution levels, road access during the raining season and nearness to basic facilities etc such a thread will be very informative in helping to make their decision. brabus: My response:their decision. |
Hi Brabus You have not answered my question. |
Gabry: Amaka, Those Red Velvet Cake looks soo freakin delicious!!! That I look up on it~For the red velvet cake you can substitute beetroot for the red colouring. |
brabus: Happy Independence Nigeria |
In the early 60s in th UK there were signs on houses with the sayings : Rooms to let, no dogs, no blacks, no Irish. The Irish suffered a lot of attrocities too but they have since moved on. They were referred to as the "niggers of europe" This is all part of history. |
redsun: It is part of oyinbo influence, and it is quite detrimental to africans, because they seems to be more prone to diabetics and obesity.I wonder if our precolonial ancestors ever suffered from diabetics? and obesityYes they did, but the technology was not there to detect it. There are different kinds of healthcakes that can be made these days, you will be amazed at the choices available as long as you keep an open mind. |
Hi OP Your assumptions are based on your personal observations which i do understand. Based on my personal observations i think there are more cakes present at events outside Nigeria than in and i think that it is a good thing that Nigeria cake decorators are catching up some are even better. Also you didnt see the cake at the royal wedding because it was a private ceremony. Luckily a fellow nairalander has shown you the picture. I think we should embrace this cake culture as it is positive, creates job opportunities and brings out the creative talents in people. |
I hate the toyboys that some ladies carry as accessories. |
Ozegbe: aren't you guys tired of all these 10 things, 15, 23 or 5 things you should say, dont say, do or dont do in an interview?I agree with you 100%. I once threw away a very good job opportunity because of all this after reading some interview technique ****. Every job is different, what most employers want to know is if you can do the job, your personality and if you have the right qualification. So just be yourself. |
Always make eye contact when speaking or it maybe assummed that you are telling lies, especially in interviews. This may be one reason why some Nigerians do not do so well at job interviews. As i know in some parts of Nigeria it may be seen as disrespectful especially when one of the parties is much younger. |
My own comtribution -Ladies please try to shave your leg and armpit hairs and use deodorant especially during the summer, even if you shower regularly. -Lots of european ladies have hair extentions, but it is not so obvious cos they take the time to make sure that it blends in with their hair colour and it is fitted properly, probably by a professional hair dresser. PLEASE Nigerian ladies do not embarrass yourselves by fixing hair extentions a different colour to your natural hair colour,it only makes you a laughing stock and also take the time to look after it properly. If you cannot afford to fit it properly, it is not a must, your uncombed natural hair looks a hundred times better. -brush your teeth a least twice a day and use mouth wash and floss regularly also try and visit the dentish at least once a year. -Do not use the word halfcaste as it derogatory, mixed race is more acceptable - Do not use the word simple to describe the personality of someone. In Nigeria it may mean straight forward but in the western world it means stupid. -In the western world especially in europe and even carribean, they try to smell food they are not used to before they eat it. If this happens in Nigeria it is seen as an insult, so dont be offended when your european friend takes your food and smells it. Difference in culture. -Nigerian food bought outside the country from the African shops are not as fresh sometimes it smells really bad. Those Nigerians that share accommodation with other nationalities, please have mercy on your fellow house mates that stock fish smells really bad. I will stop here for now. |
