Politics / Re: FAAN Clears Grass With N128m At Lagos Airport by pie1ect(m): 3:38pm On Dec 29, 2005
@Alheri
I couldn't agree more with you. This EFCC is beginning to look like the joke of the century to me.
WTF do FAAN mean by awarding this kind of contract for N128Million? And the EFCC are turning a blind eye!
Nigeria is a very strange place, I tell you.
Romance / His Girlfirend In Nigeria Got Pregnant For Someone Else by pie1ect(m): 2:13pm On Dec 29, 2005
Nairalanders,
Wonders shall never end, it seems.
E get this guy wey travel go US about 4 years ago, go do im masters. He never go home since then. The girlfriend wey im leave for Nigeria somehow managed to get herself pregnant for someone else(an SS3 student BTW), all the while professing her undying love angry for this (yankee)guy.
When the deed was done and the fruits don ripe, she run go one corner of Nigeria go hide hoping say nobody go notice her. But the news reach her guy for yankee.
Guess what..... the guy called the girl and proposed to her. The girl even get the mouth to tell the guy say she no wan see am ever again(for obvious reasons), but this guy is still beggin the girl to marry him. Methinks, that girl deserves never to find true love. Annoying part of this drama is: The guy and the girl had decided to wait until marriage before having sex.

I think this is the reason why most people including myself, believe that true love is hard to find in Nigeria.

What would you do if you were in this position?

As for me, there's no question.I'm dropping the girl pronto.
Family / Re: My Cousin's Story About Her Pregnancy by pie1ect(m): 1:38pm On Dec 29, 2005
Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts. Anyways, in the last few weeks/months, I've heard more versions of this story, making me believe the girl in question knew what was going on:

-->I did not know until the 7th month(version 2);
-->I did not know until the last day(version 3);
-->I did not know until the baby popped out while I was out shopping( extension of version 3);

Does not make sense to me, though. She could be lying or finding it hard to put her story in a coherent fashion, but one thing I've gotten from all this is:
There is no way a woman will be pregnant (for 9 mths) and not feel it. Knowing it for sure is a different matter, but they will sure feel the presence of another human being growing inside of them. Methinks, some women deliberately ignore whatever little signals their body sends and end up framing some cock-and-bull story.

Education / Re: Prof. Gabriel Oyibo (GAGUT Theorem): Mad man or Genius by pie1ect(m): 12:28am On Dec 24, 2005
I thought I was the only one fed up with the Emeagwali guy.
Funny how in one breath, Oyibo says God "created" atum(Adam) and in the very next he says God "manifested". Is GAGUT so big that even he does not understand it? Complete rubbish.
Programming / Re: Dreamweaver vs FrontPage by pie1ect(m): 12:02am On Dec 24, 2005
Dreamweaver has the edge because they've also got this wide range of development/design tools (flash, shockwave, cold fusion and wotever). They can only get even more popular now they've been taken over by Adobe.
But truth be told, beginner or not, Frontpage is a by far the easier wysiwyg editor to use (of the two) and if you know how to use it well, you can do wonders with it, just as you can with dreamweaver.
Education / Prof. Gabriel Oyibo (GAGUT Theorem): Mad man or Genius by pie1ect(m): 11:22pm On Dec 23, 2005
First there was Dr. Abalaka, now we have Dr. Oyibo.......
Fellow Nairalanders,
I've just finshed reading an interview with Dr. Oyibo, where he talks about his Grand Unified Theorem (Gij,j=0). In case you don't know him, he is a top Nigerian physicist. OK, I know his credentials cannot be questioned but I have to question his rationality!

Apparently, there's now an institute (OFAPPIT) where he teahces this theorem, but there's not a single professional review of this "discovery" of his anywhere on the web and worse still, the official website of this so-called institute is hosted on geocities shocked, apparently registered to one Ejima. This is a free website, ffs. Surely, if they were serious about promoting GAGUT or whatever they want to call it, they could afford to pay some $50 (since they already got a web designer) to get themselves a professional-looking website.
I  don't know what the hell is going on with this Prof., but as far I'm concerned, this GAGUT claim is an illusion.
Even the Clay Mathematics institute, which instigated the whole equation-solving thing with their millenium challenge, do not deem it fit to make any mention of this supposedly great "discovery" on their website. I can't even find any books that talk about the GAGUT thingy anywhere.

Methinks: There's no truth in his claims and there's no such thing as GAGUT.

What do you guys think?

TV/Movies / Re: Who watches Eastenders? by pie1ect(m): 11:28pm On Dec 22, 2005
I admit, I can't do nowt, but eastenders and all em' shows are what I call "auditioning". Once upon a time, they were good, but the quality has dropped beyond redemption, and the story lines are....... *falls asleep*
TV/Movies / Re: Who watches Eastenders? by pie1ect(m): 11:01pm On Dec 22, 2005
@ Z4M4eva
Eastenders on BBC1 from 7/8pm, right? The actors first of all are crap to the core,I'm sorry.
love-vendor my ride (mtvbase) is a lot more interesting than that thing. Gosh, I'd ratherwatch NTA news ( on Ben TV).

@IAH
Sure, there's no comparison at all.
The one American show that makes me want to break my TV is sunset beach. I can't stand a second of it.
TV/Movies / Re: Who watches Eastenders? by pie1ect(m): 9:36pm On Dec 22, 2005
I know I'm late, but I can't believe people really get excited by Eastenders, coronation.blah and especially emmerdale. God,  they never fail to send me to sleep (within 3.5mins of starting). OMG, British daytime/nighttime TV (freeview channels) is really boring. This is defo. one country I can't do without satellite tv, I'd just be bored silly. I think everyday people(nigerian show) is/was by far more interesting than the eastenders thing (my thuts anyway).
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Ronaldinoh Rules by pie1ect(m): 9:16pm On Dec 22, 2005
Frank Lampard can not win that thing...ever. It's not a "pie-eating contest" (heard that from somewhere). Seriously though, Ronaldinho is just head, shoulders and waist above everybody else at the moment and at the level he is currently, it doesn't take a magician to see that he's not got any close rivals (except Messi, of course). The guy is going to go down in history books. As for Lumpalard, I think he has achieved the highest accolade of his career. He should start thinking of retirement.
Anyway, watch out for Messi at the next awards. He's going to come second to Ronaldinho, if he doesn't win it. Already, world's best U-21 player. This guy is gon be something, I tell you.
Sports / Re: Germany 2006: Who Will Win The World Cup? by pie1ect(m): 5:43pm On Dec 22, 2005
@ spikelord
The match was not played in Argentina. It was in Switzerland and FFS, Argentina completely outplayed England for long spells in that game despite missing some quality players like Aimar.
I agree Argentina has a top-class team, but they also had a top-class team in the last world-cup. I don't need to remind you guys where they ended up.
The one person I think will be THE major influence if Argentina do anything of worth in Germany, is Lionel Messi. We know the others-->> Crespo, Riquelme, Sorin, Aimar, Samuel,Tevez.blah.but Messi looks the kind'a guy who can take a team by the scruff of the neck and force them to win something, even against their will.
Ok, that's a lil' bit of hype, but I genuinely think the boy is that good. Barcelona are considered the most-feared team in Europe presently because they've got Ronaldinho, Eto'o and MESSI, who happens to bench such players as Giuly, Lopez, and Henrikk Larsson on a constant basis. Trust me, that guy is someone to watch, and I'm not betting against him leading Argentina to the final at all.
That said, Brazil are still my top-pick for the trophy.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Will Chelsea Win the 2005 UEFA Champions League? by pie1ect(m): 5:25pm On Dec 22, 2005
Hey all those Cheslea fans wey dey make mouth, make una find some somewhere siddon.
Haba, wetin una play last sunday wey dey shak una?  Basically apart from the first few minuites when you put us under pressure, the rest of the time, you were playing "hoof-ball", and ch£$lki fans dey open mouth talk. Seriously now, what is the difference between chelsea and Bolton?--->>Just hoof the ball anywhere belle face.

I gree say una win with the usual drab football, but you got to admit, nothing went our way that day, most importantly the perfectly good goal from RVP. I still maintain that the day Chelsea completely outplay ARSENAL in a football match, national holiday should be declared.
I'm not even bringing Barcelona into the question yet.

* BTW, Has anybody seen £21million Shawn-wright Phillips recently? Last I heard, he has begun growing a moustache as a hobby, seeing as he is not needed by his team*
Politics / Re: President Obasanjo Wants a Third Term? by pie1ect(m): 7:55pm On Dec 18, 2005
I can see the whole charade reapeating itself.
-->ICAN President and other "elder statesmen", including every leader of a top organisation( who can be bought, of course)  beg OBJ to "continue" his "reforms".
-->OBJ goes to "god" in "prayer" and later emerges with some kind of weird "vision" in which he has been asked to go for a third term, presumably by whomever he talked to(definitely not the Christain God).
To those people who say Obj is the only man that can lead Nigeria at this time:
Bill clinton was one of the best american Presidents in recent times (definitely better than the 2 Bushes), but when his time came, he stepped down honourably. I'll like to see our leaders do that, but that's too much to ask, isn't it?
They must rule, because they are the only sensible people in a country boasting a population of over 120million fellows. angry

A merry christmas and a happy/prosperous new year (in advance) to everyone in the house.

Haba, this OBJ thread still dey on?
Ehh, Kola which one be "A", "E" & "A" again?
@twinstaiye
shocked
I think you'll find that Atiku and Obj came in the same time, so Atiku has spent as much time as OBj.
If Atiku has mishandled anything, it is because he got the backing of his boss. Nobody should try and tell Obj was a bystander while Atiku ran the rule over who gets what in the privatisation thingy. I stand on my conviction that all this "activity" from Mr. president in the last 1-2 years is just to get sympathisers for his third term ambition. And he sure as hell is succeeding, going by the amount of sympathisers on this board alone. When the "time" comes around again, you'll see some shameless people flocking to OTA to "beg" Obj to run again, and then we'll hear some "prayer/vision" crap.

Obafemi Martins: debut against Rep. of Ireland in London(friendly), gets his first international goal.
Business / Re: Starting Up an Online Payment Solution by pie1ect(m): 5:36am On Dec 10, 2005
It's a great idea. And as lucrative as any other online business out there. But your anti-fraud policy will have to be tight, being Nigeria n' all.
Make sure you're up-to-date on cutting edge tech. equip and make sure you start on a solid foundation, so it doesn't cost too much to keep the system running.
Good luck.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Will Chelsea Win the 2005 UEFA Champions League? by pie1ect(m): 5:27am On Dec 10, 2005
@Kola
I don tell you say Chelsea are going nowhere in the FA cup.
Count the Champions' league trophy out. English league, they are still not there, but I'll be pleasantly surprised if they do not take it as well.
You say you've got the best two keepers. In West London or England or in Europe?
You don hear of one Gianluigi Buffon or one Iker Cassilas or the other guy wey dem dey call Dida or even Coupet?
Cech dey top three but for heaven's sake, Carlo nor follow for best anything.
I think you guys think too much of yourselves becuase you've spent an upward of £200mill on players. You might be too good for the premiership at the moment, but trust  me, you are nowhere near the likes of Barcelona or Milan. Lyon, I maintain, play better football than Chelsea. I don't know if you've noticed but you've got the worst away record in Europe among the remaning Englsih teams in the CL, so don't get carried away.
Sports / Re: Germany 2006: Who Will Win The World Cup? by pie1ect(m): 5:10am On Dec 10, 2005
Yeah exactly what I'm saying Bagoma.
If you want to win the bug tournaments, you've got to beat the very best, it's as simple as that. If to say Argentina nor comot England that day, Holland would have knocked them out or definitely Brazil would have shoved them aside. They've just not got the quality. I don't know if you read English tabloids, but if you've ever done( especially THE SUN), you'll know what I'm talking about when I say hype is the bane of the English national football team.
My formulae:
Good players + organisation + team work + good teamspirit + luck = success.
England nor get top-class players apart from maybe two or three, but English media can never gree. Just watch Rooney( the so-called "next maradona"wink and John Terry(the "best defender in the world"wink  flounder at the world cup.

@Nice
Nigeria no follow because we failed to plan.

Sports / Re: Germany 2006 World Cup Draw: Fate of African Teams? by pie1ect(m): 4:30am On Dec 10, 2005
Group C:
Ivory coast: Got a good team with some top-class players, disciplined set-up, and are difficult to play against. I think they'll come second behind either the Argies or Dutch.
Verdict: QF;

Group D:
Angola: Going no-where. I just hope we don't have some ridiculous score-line(like 7-0) that will set football back by some 25years. Seriously, I don't think they will adequately represent the strengths of African football.
Verdict: 3rd in group;

Group E:
Ghana: I quite fancy this Ghanian side to get past the group stages, as they play top-class stuff at times, andthey've got quality players. But I'm not sticking my neck out for them.
Verdict: 3rd in group;

Group G:
Togo: Are finishing bottom of the group.It's that simple. The swiss team is a strong one, as is the French team. For Togo to get anything from those two games, they'll need all the experience of Keshi and all the determination they can garner. The Korean team are a very dynamic side but I think Togo can get a draw from this game.
Verdict: 4th in group;

Group H:
Tunisia: I don't have any expexctations of this team at all. I actually forgot they were one of the Afrique reps.They have a way to dissapoint after so much promise. Anyway, they should give it a good fight.
Verdict: 3rd in group.

First of all, Henry nor dey comot for Arsenal. Nor even think go that side.

@ Swish
You know someone suggested the WPOTY award should be suspended for the next three years at least, because Ronaldinho don colonise the thing for now. He just looks a world apart from any other footballer currently. Brazil are the fav. to win the W/cup, mainly because they have the man...RONALDINHO GAUCHO.

2. Julius Aghahowa and Obafemi Martins;

Sports / Re: Germany 2006: Who Will Win The World Cup? by pie1ect(m): 12:59am On Dec 08, 2005
@Bagoma

It's not the coach. The guy na good coach, the best they've had in years. England have not won any football trophy(at any level) since 66' ( if I'm not mistaken). It's simply the  quality of players they've got that's the problem. The media hypes them up to high heavens but they are nothing special. One or two world-class players and they are automatically equal to Brazil. Always seems funny to me when they talk about winning the world cup............I mean,c'mon.
